where am i?

so around us all the time. all the manifestations...all of the "AhHa!" moments....i feel like the universe is slapping me in the face and saying "check me out! you know it dog - we got this!!" ...and i want to talk about it.

problem is that there isn't anyone around me on the level. i have a lot of friends, close family, an amazing girlfriend - all of which mean enough to me to make unique conscious efforts to "connect." - to no avail. i hear, "can we be done talking about this now?" a lot.

why is it that i feel like when it has to do with life, the universe, consciousness, and with all things REAL - that there isn't a possible "conclusion" to any discussion started with said subject? why is it that NO ONE in my social circle has any idea what the astral plane is? why is it that every time i ask someone why the 'eff they think they're alive they just shrug me off and say "i don't do religion."

I have the same experience as you, not many people to share my thoughts about the serious things of life.

yep know how that is... give people around you a chance though. I thought my husband was not into astral spiritual things but he has actually blown me away by some things he has said that tell me he has been listening to me, even if he didnt seem like it at the time.. some things filter through! just being around your more enlightend presense will help people around you

Know exactly what you mean about friends, family and work colleagues not wanting, not understanding what Im talking about. People just seem to think its a 'bit of a joke'. There's only one person who I talk to about all things astral and he's the guy who got me into it. We talk most if not every day about it all and what we've experienced (or not). My husband just listens and nods. Ive tried to explain things to people if they ask but then this 'glazed' look appears on their face and the subject is changed. Oh well guess its their loss not ours.

There are underlying reasons for such reactions.  Mostly all are conditioned from the go get and understandably such 'talk' pushes the boundaries of those conditions a little too much.
Also it is simply not the easiest thing to explain.  This too because of the conditioning.
Also I imagine that because it is not something that offers a permanent escape from the world and the world has many things which keep individuals attached (those very friends, families, jobs, children, reasons to Love...), AP often offers no practical purpose - something which can ultimately benefit the world from where the practitioners launch into The Greater Reality.

Hi guitar dude.
I have a few thoughts about this- first of all, most people go through stages in their life, and at some point arrive at some existential understanding or awareness, some sooner than others.  It is somewhat unusual for people to have this awareness from a young age- I had this 'sense' since I was young, but most people my age and in my family didn't, and so I gravitated towards religion because in there people looked at the spiritual, but from a different context than mine-which is fine, everyone is in their own path, and eventually come to the same realization.  The thing is that sometimes this comes when they are very old or dying.
Most people have to deal with the trauma of being in a family (when young) which moves on to the trauma of being in the beginnings of society- first school, then friends, then sex- all these things require attention, and most people cannot attend to daily mundane things and still ask themselves 'why' they're here, why not somewhere else, or anything else that requires a deeper immersion in all aspects of reality- and especially in the adolescent years this can be traumatic, what will all the changing rules and hormones too.
Then comes either going to college and work or work, and this requires attention- so by the time that you have time to apply to something other than adjusting to life, you got kids and things change again.
So it takes a specific personality to be able to negotiate life and continue to be aware of the 'bigger picture'- and you are probably one of those- as am I and many of the people that frequent these types of communities.
But do not despair- with gentle patience you will find that those that are compatible to you are more spiritual than you think- or will soon catch up.  But everybody just has to come to their own realizations of what it's about- so for now, enjoy it in communities like this.
