This happens to me often, i just lay there and try to concentrate. Most of the times for an hour nothing happens, so i just go to sleep. At this time I am very exhausted, i think this is from "building up" the energy...  this energy then keeps me awake and prevents me from falling asleep... almost like some kind of insomnia.

So some questions: why does nothing happen for the hour? (I used to drift between sleep and awake but now i am simply awake all the time), what am I doing wrong?
-What to do to prevent the "exhaustion" and how to drain the excessive energy?

Thanks for any ideas.

It sounds like you're having issues with grounding before and/or after.

I like to ground before starting anything and letting my energy equilibrate and clean out any gunk. Then for actual projection attempt, I cut off ties slowly, and reroute my energy into loops in my energy body.

There are a bunch of reasons which can prevent a projection.

Tell me a bit more about your projection routine.

IMO, attempting just before going to sleep at night mostly does not work for beginners especially. So I recommend changing your time to early morning. In this way even if you are not able to sleep its not a big problem.

Guys get real laying for an hour or more when you desperately need sleep will leave you exhausted. You are just trying too hard ease up man and just let it happen

I agree with all of that, you pretty much have to relax yourself to the point of death (figuratively). It does indeed feel a little like dying.

The tricky part for me is when I can feel my conscious mind trying to relinquish control of breathing to my autonomous nervous system, it feels like I'm going to suffocate, you just have to take faith in your brain stem because at WORST, you stop breathing, pass out from oxygen deprivation, and then your body automatically kicks back in breathing for you.

Your best bet is to just keep doing quality practices until nothing about the process bugs you.
