I think I felt some vibrations last time I tried projecting, but its sort of a hard feeling to describe. Like its not actually vibrations its like a weird wavy feeling like your rocking on a boat. I think I'll just call them waves instead of vibrations from now on ahah! Does it feel like this for everyone else?
I've been practicing for a few weeks now.. still no results! Oh well, I'll keep on it!

I never viewed them as actual vibrations either but it's a term that most of us know so it's useful to be consistent so that we can understand each other.

The downside is that some people take this literally and think that they are doing something wrong when they don't feel their bed shaking.

I think calling them waves is also very accurate as far as how I see it. Once you become accustomed to the vibrations, you will most likely note a wave like affect.

Don't anticipate them or expect them to occur. They aren't necessary and waiting on them to "arrive" can make you miss the boat.

Many others also report as feeling them as 'electricity' also.  Vibrations are waves, waves are vibrations, and are all felt at different places in the range, which is why sometimes they feel as one of those massaging chair thingies, or something as different as swimming in ocean waves.  Just different measurements to the same phenomenon- whatever it is.

You have only been practicing for a few weeks.   You are very close to ap.   You just need to experiment and see what works for you.   I could tell you how I ap but people do not seem to like it.

I rarely get them. 7 times or so in 50 years of experiences.
They physically feel like water from a pipe splashing on the back of your neck (in my case). If you take the shower head off its fitting and get a thick 'tube' of water that's not powering down and let it fall 4 feet onto the back of your neck, this is very close to their feel. There is an electric shock feel too. They travel through your body as electricity does (I work with it) in a similar way to some of those muscle developers.
It's intense and pleasant at the same time. If it was real electricity it would kill you in a few seconds. Theres absolutely nothing to worry about. Have no fear, just accept it as a major step forwards. My first encounter led on to some very lucid experiences. This was around 1974 and I'm still here.
You can project too when they appear, a soft pop is reported by many who get them regularly. Ask and someone may point you in this direction. I can't really help in this being sort of immune to them. Lol.

I've had vibrations and also a feeling like I was rocking back and forth as if on a boat. (also sometimes spinning or an up and down elevator feeling)  For me those two feelings are distinctly different.  The vibrations feel as though electric current is going through you --but no pain.  The rocking feels like your body is in motion.  Both are good signs that you're close to projection.

The vibrations come in different frequencies.  The lower ones feel rough and just slightly unpleasant.  The higher ones feel smoother and can be very blissful.

Sometimes I will get vibrations that shoot through me really quickly and then are gone.  It feels and sounds like a fly has just buzzed by your head.  The first time this happened to me I knew the vibrations were near and I thought to myself, how do I steady them?  Immediately a voice answered me and told me what to do. (some sort of guide I could not see)  The voice said to take my thumb and drag it across a touch screen that had appeared to me.  There was a sort of wave amplitude read out that I was looking at and I could see the spikes that were the "fly buzzing vibrations".  I was instructed to drag my thumb (my non-physical thumb) across the screen and create an even vibrational amplitude instead of the spiky ones.  As I did this the "flies buzzing by" became normal steady vibrations.

So... If you ever get what feels like flies buzzing by your head, just do what I did (or something along those lines--I think my guide was trying to show me that it's really intent and belief that makes everything happen.  The computer touch screen was probably just an aid that would help me believe I could do it.) and you will achieve normal vibrations.  Good luck!

When I feel that I am swaying I move away from my body.   It is easy to move yourself.   If you do not like doing that you can imagine the swaying getting bigger and bigger until your inner self goes completely out of your body.   You will probably get thrown out or you might fall on the floor.    That happened to me once.   I got thrown onto the floor and I got up.

I don't usually use an "exiting" technique but I have also thrown my "astral body" against the wall when trying to rock or sway out.

When these anomalies happen, it really does seem as if I am leaving my body.

Vibrations have always felt very energetic to me, like feeling my body floating in a fast-forward version of ocean waves. It's a very enjoyable thing.
They've never led to projection for me. I think I focus too much on them (really enjoyable) and keep focusing on them until they fade away.

It seems really hard to control the vibrations, and not to think about them much. Lately I haven't been practicing because I've gotten a bit frustrated. Maybe I'll try tomorrow.
Its odd though because I always try to imagine myself coming out of my body but it's just not working! I'm stuck. Is it all about imagination in a sense?

Imagination is important but it's not enough.  You need to try to roll out or sit up with your physical body as well.  Use 1/3 of the force you would normally use to physically get up.  I "wriggle"  a little in my physical body which shakes my astral body loose.  (or at least that is the feeling experienced)  If you're in heavy SP like you should be, your physical body won't be able to move much...you'll just feel the few tugs or the"wriggling" sensation as you try to get out.  Then let your mind/imagination take over as your astral body starts coming out.  No doubting, now.  You are up and out of here!  Imagination is usually enough for me now that I have been doing it for 2 years, but in the beginning, no way.  You need a little physical action too.  Hope this helps!

Very good reply.   I find that sometimes I have to use force to make it happen as well.   Sometimes I visualise something and  I get out.    I can use my mind to get out but it has to be very strong.   Without a doubt I know I can do it.

Like I said before, I don't usually use an "exiting" technique. I prefer to just "be" where ever it is I want to be or need to be.

With that said, "exiting" techniques can lead to false awakenings. You will find that as you try to roll or sway out that you may end up on the floor and when you do, you will think that you physically rolled out.

You will feel the floor and bump into anything that is supposed to physically be there. In "reality", you have made a successful "exit" but the realness of it all will convince you that you just rolled off the bed.

This will lead to a cycle of successful exits and subsequent start overs for some people believing they have failed.

It can be frustrating but it is also beneficial because once you realize that this is occurring, you will eventually decide to not get back in bed and before you even realize it, you're "there".

Of course, the shock of being there will propel you straight back to bed but it's a start. grin

True Astralzombie.   If you roll out or step out and it happens often, eventually you will think that are really out in the astral.   That is what I think.  The more practice you get, the better.

Well I haven't actually got to sleep paralysis yet. It takes a lot of time, I'll lay there for so long and I'll slowly start drifting off. Sometimes I catch myself, sometimes I don't. And the whole things just starts getting tiring and I just give up and go to sleep. But when I do get the vibrations and I'm not actually in sleep paralysis (but probably on the boarder of it actually because I usually start to feel very heavy) then I try to imagine getting out and imagine moving my fingers, and lifting my arm or leg. But often times I actually move the body part I'm focusing on. It's really complicated for me right now ahah!
Did you guys have this frustration when you first started out? Tell me some of your experiences that got you out? That would probably help a lot! I actually read personalreality's post about getting out for the first time. And I tried the "method" but so far no results.
Usually I'll just hop in bed and let my body fall asleep but it never totally falls asleep and I keep my conscious awake, then the wavy vibrations come and I wait a bit and try getting out like I explained, and nothing. But many times I just fall asleep. I'm thinking that maybe I either need more practice or a new method..

I can understand your frustration.   You are probably not doing anything wrong.    You just have to keep practicing and building up your concentration.    I can mostly ap in the mornings but I have stopped doing that.   I want to try to ap anytime of the day.   I have occasionally ap without having any sleep but that has been a while ago now.    When you have been lying down for a while without any results, you either fall asleep or give up.    You cannot keep concentrating for hours.   That is how it is for me.    I might go back to ap in the mornings.   At least I get results.   I think I will do both ways.    You have to get used to wanting to try to ap a lot.   It is like running or swimming a marathon.   It takes time to get there.    Your mind and body has to get used to it.
Do not worry too much about messing up the vibrations.   I have physically moved my finger or whatever instead of spiritually moving myself.   It takes time to get it right.   If you keep practicing, eventually you will get there.

You could try drinking too much water before bed so it forces you awake in about 4 or 5 hrs.  I always fall into SP really quick and hard after visiting the bathroom after about 4 or 5 hrs. sleep.  I think it's a better method than setting your alarm cuz it's really easy to just turn your alarm off and go back to sleep.  But when nature calls...you have to answer!  After you get back in bed, lay on your back (if it's comfortable for you) and lay perfectly still and relaxed.  Think as few thoughts as possible--think of being kind of like a zombie--but don't fall asleep.  If you catch yourself starting to think, don't worry, just calmly bring yourself back to zombie land, lol!  SP should kick in pretty fast.  You'll probably start to hear a roaring sound in your ears and feel your body getting heavy and paralyzed.  Maybe some other things too.  Everyone's different.  It can be very frustrating to try Ap if you haven't had some proper sleep first.  Some people can do it but in my opinion it's only for the experts.  If this method doesn't work for you I would read up on the best sleep schedules for inducing SP and follow it to the letter.  It's surprising how easy it can be when you get the sleep schedule right.  Good luck!!

This is actually typical of someone who already has a few projections under their belt, get used to vibes being indicators but find out they now come earlier in the trance.
My first piece of advice is, don't wait for paralysis to set in, because you don't always know if it has until you try to move something.  Instead, keep doing what you're doing to deepen the trance, (and if it's nothing, that can get boring- find something to do in that time- energy breathing, rundowns, listening to your earhiss while looking at the space in front of your closed eyes).  This keeps your mind occupied enough to not fall asleep.  And if you start to dream, use it as your platform to project.  Go into the scene by your own will and then decide what you want to do.
Wait until you either have visuals (can be hypnagogics, invitation to a phase, or seeing through the eyelids, invitation to an OBE exit.) or if you have movement or floating.  This indicates you're already on the way out, just need to follow the movement with your will or energy body.

If you just don't have the ability to stay awake, then try projecting early in the morning, about two hours before you normally wake up.  You'll already be at the threshold of sleep, and only need to wake up, get up and walk around a little, and then go to your usual projecting place.  Then go to your trance position.  You'll find yourself there in no time.  Then go from there.
