If you are to "get up" in a false awakening can it be changed into a full blown OBE?

Anyone done this? can it be done?

It can, but it's not easy.  The reason is that most of the time, when you realize you're not awake you then wake up.  But, if you can manage to become lucid and not wake up, you're there already.  If you have the time and it happens, just keep your eyes closed and go back to trance, and separate again, with full awareness.

Agreed.  But I will also add, I think that a False Awakening IS an OBE, you just dont know it.

I concur, even though I didn't say it outright.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge I did it yesterday.   smiley
It was my first conscious, intentional "exit".

In the way of false awakenings I have only ever been to the point of leaving the bed without realising I wasn't awake once, and I realised pretty quickly because the house was WEIRD.

As CFTraveller and AstralBeginnings said, if you can recognise the state for what it is when you "wake up" (a dreamy, hazy light all around is what tells me first), then I believe you are most of the way out anyway.

Some suggestions from my very limited experience..
Next time the false awakening happens, casually observe your feeling of disconnection from your body, think about raising/moving your astral arms and rubbing your astral hands together. If you can really feel them touch, you're there.
I just "commando rolled" out to the side and off the bed. It doesn't hurt, you don't feel the landing and you will possibly end up in blackness. Feel around you and make contact with your unseen surroundings.

Hope that helps!  grin

Yeah, "recognizing" that you're dreaming is ALWAYS the hardest part of the fight.  Smiley

One thing that, I think, helped me on my "outing" is that after realising I was in a dream, I thought to myself "Oh, I'm dreaming. That means I can try OBE." and before I even finished the thought I was "awake" in my mind but my body was still asleep (sleep paralysis). So the intent to give OBE a try was there. Also, once I reached that sleep paralysis, or MindAwakeBodyAsleep, state, I didn't waste any time trying to analyse or understand the feelings I was having. I saw the opprtunity and took it/used it immediately and without delay. I've read some literature that talks about the fact that even if you do nothing for only a few seconds, you can possibly lose the focus of the moment and fail in your attempt. So don't waste time trying to work out if you're in the state or not, just try to will yourself out of your body. As you experience the sensation more and more, you'll recognise the state in a heartbeat and will just go for it... it really is more about "allowing it to happen" than trying to force the experience.
