Major Tom,  i have found that you can induce fear and the vibrations very easily.  At night, say like when you wake up, just imagine that you heard a noise and you think someone is in your house.... let your mind wander with it and it will start giving you audible hallucinations and become paranoid, force yourself to feel very paranoid and very vulnerable.  Then soon to follow come the vibes and more noises.  Visualize a rope hanging from your ceiling like Robert Bruce says and well i think you know what to do....

*one note of caution to others who may be reading this:  this can become extremely terrifying,  if you do not think you can keep in the back of your mind the idea that these are just hallucinations and if you are weak minded... i STRONGLY advise you DO NOT do this.
One time it came to a point for me were i heard a massive snarling and felt the presence of a what seemed to be a huge 4 foot tall dog next to my bed ready to attack me with teeth barred and horrible snarling!  (imagine hearing this for real in the middle of the night IN your bedroom!)

Interesting idea, though possibly not real healthy? Fear is certainly a very powerful emotion, and that would probably open you up more.  When I think about it, I probably used fear unintentionly when I started to AP, but it was more that the experience of charging my way through it that got me out there.

Well, that's certainly one I never heard before, but I don't think I'll try it thanks...one too many scary demon-things have been in my bedroom already! Smiley

I think as long as you can keep yourself removed from the experience and let the vibrations come it is safe; like you say, "charge your way through it."  There is alot of energy that comes from this,  too much for me to just ignore and i really know that i have seperated from my physical body.

I am afraid like Major Tom says that as i do it more and more i may become more or less "immune" or de-sensitized to this fear itself.  Somehow though i think that there is no end to your mind creating fear, my mind always seems to come out of nowhere with something... is there an end to this?  I don't think so.  I would think this would be a healthy thing, in that you will be able to achieve more peace with yourself, knowing that you met different fears and you can easily make it through..

If we talk about fear being more to do with entering the vibrational state, perhaps it's the sheer tangibility of the emotion? I do remember that one of my most full-on OBE's came out of the power of jealousy, which could probably be likened to fear in many ways. Back story: My husband's ex-girlfriend was pretty into the esoteric in lots of ways, including AP. One night she came to "visit" my husband (this was when I was first exploring the whole thing) and made it into my dreams too. I remember being SO incensed, and saying to myself "Well, if she can come into my dreams I can go into hers" and heading off to sleep with the intention of telling her to leave us the hell alone. Well I did, but I tell you, no one wants to go into the astral world with that kind of agenda... (shiver at memory of scary excrement)...

So where do you draw the line? Certainly these feelings are strong enough to get us there, but I wonder if it's always that easy to let it go once you're out. Fear is a bit different to this I know, but everyone's always talking about emotions being able to dictate your astral experiences.

However, even when you think of basic "shivers of fear", you have to see the power of the energy generated.

Interesting idea. I have not heard this before, but if it works then that is great for you. I would not suggest using this method to someone new to astral projection as loosing control of emotions is something that happens easily in the beginning (still happens to me at times) which can lead to an end to the experience. In the case of fear, if you cannot control your fear once you are out then you will most likely end up in a fearful place, surrounded by fearful things. For someone with more experience and control, I can see where this could possibly be good as you have stated above, it can help you face and work through fears. Using a more positve emotion might be more useful so that you will more likely find yourself in a positive place once out. But you still run the risk of being overwhelmed by this emotion as well and loosing control.

I tried something similar when I was first learning to project. Instead of using fear I tried using sexual energy. Well it did not work out very well at the time, as I did not have much control on transforming sexual energy to something more spiritual. Sexually energy in its "raw and natural" form seems to be very physical, atleast for a beginner starting to work with it. So it kept me more in my body than helping me out. Though thanks to a recent post by Meg and energy work I have been doing I might revisit this idea and see if I can work something similar out.

Exactly !!  All the fear is gone once you are out, and i haven't experienced any fearful things once out (as stated by fallenangel).  I agree with MajorTom... all i am doing is using it to induce the vibrational stage and strenghen it.  So far it works great, guess i will see how it continues.

I had my first success last night.  About 4 years ago i had experienced vibrations on my own not knowing at all what they were and was very frightened.  I often have audio hallucinations which seem very real and are scary.  Well since about a year ago and my interest in metaphysics and obe's i have wondered if this was what had been happening.  Last night i was able to put my mind in the same state.... where i seems like my mind is playing tricks on me and i keep hearing odd noises...

well this may help many newcomers to this.  If you let your mind continue and let your level of fear increase... harnessing fear's energy, the vibrations increase EXTREMELY heavy !!  Let it keep going and use the rope method to pull yourself out of your body... believe me it does happen!!  You just need to let it happen even though you may be frightened - just use your fear;  it helps you get out.

Now my only problem is, is that once i was out i could not see anything at all and felt as though my eyes were closed and i was in both bodies at the same time.  I made the experience very brief.... i just pulled on the rope back down to my body and let my etheric body just sit with my physical and i came out of the ob experience.

Does anyone have any tips for the next time i try this... should i work on trying to gain sight and stay out longer??  Any help would be appreciated... thanks !!!
