I had a dream
but in my dream I knew at the time that I was in the astral planes
but I wasnt APing because my awareness was limited...I knew (or I thought I knew) I was in the astral planes but I had not come to that complete realisation of "okay im still in my bed asleep"
Also there was no intense vibrations although I did have some minor ones just before I fell asleep as I was over tired....
This dream was VERY intense and im wondering if it means something...I feel like it was more than your average dream....
I know I'm not being very specific but can anyone relate??
I would be extreamly greatful for any insight xo

not full awareness like in an OBE but like I say at the time i was 100% sure i was in the "astral planes" I remember the whole thing in full detail and it was quite long which was unusual.
I even spoke to someone about being there in the "astral"
I went to a hospital which was also like apartments looking for someone I know who has passed on. the person helping me said this passed on friend was in danger of some kind and thats kind of why im confused. I have never had a dream like this and I have never had a nightmere since I was a child (apart from bad sleep paralysis experiences)
outside the hospital was filled with sycos, monsters, murderers of all kinds, drug addicts etc. seemed like a party kind of atmosphere...some were coming and going...some were talking in groups
I guess my question is...can you have an OBE with limited awareness or since a dream is technically a focus two OBE with limited awareness, can a person go further than focus two when dreaming?

The only real distinction between F2 and F3 is that F2 is generally your own private area in the Astral and F3 is public (judgement is based prettty much on behavior of characters in experience.) They really don't say "where" you are or "what" you're doing so I wouldn't bother trying to sort it out. You can project in F2 so I don't see why you couldn't dream in F3. Bottom line, whether it's a lucid dream or a projection it's a meaningful experience to some capacity.

As others have already mentioned (and something I fully agree with), categorizing an experience has to do solely with how consciously aware you are during the experience.

So you mention that "I knew at the time that I was in the astral planes"... so right away, I can tell you that you had, at least, a lucid awareness while in the non-physical.  Now, the next step up from that would be an "astral awareness".  An astral awareness has the same criteria as a lucid awareness except for one thing... to have an astral awareness you have to be lucid *AND* have a full, what I call, waking awareness.

A "waking awareness" is what you have right now, reading this.  You know who you are and what you are.  You retain your full physical memories.  Now, apply that to a lucid awareness experience and you have an "astral awareness".

This tells me that you didn't have an astral awareness.  You had a pretty solid lucid awareness though.

I believe that because you were already dreaming (aka, you were already "out", for lack of a better word), you were beyond the point where you'll feel the vibrations.  I think this is a benefit to the type of projection we call Phasing.
http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/xanths-phasing-primer/  <-- That's my phasing primer, I feel it contains some of the basic information you'll need to understand phasing and learn how to do it.  It's comprised of stuff I've written along with certain posts that I found very useful from these forums.  Smiley

My particular view of dreams is that they don't really exist.
My view is that anytime our focus of awareness isn't focused into this physical reality, when it's focused into a reality other than this one... that's a non-physical experience, and our experiences there differ per how consciously aware during those experiences.
The last article in my Phasing Primer explains what I mean.  Smiley

hehe I hope I didn't confuse you more.  Smiley

I'm starting to come to that conclusion as well.  Dreaming could very well possibly happen in any area of consciousness.

Do you include Focus 15 and Focus 21 in F2?

Frank does in his model, but honestly I don't trust the Focus systems at this point in time. I'm not well versed with Monroe's model so I read about his focus levels that Frank associates with his own F2 and they don't really match between descriptions. While Monroe is talking about pre-projection states (ie. trance, mind awake/body asleep, 3D blackness, hypnogogic imagery, vibes, etc.) Frank is talking about dreams, memories, projections where thoughts easily manipulate environments, etc. Maybe with more experience I can relate to the Focus system better but for now it's hard when descriptions are vague and discrepancies are apparent.

Thankyou all so much
Frank talks about each focus being separate but also merged together, I believe this is true as I have had experience with focus three characters entering my own focus two wether it be in dream, lucid dream or focus 2 OBE...
I have never gone further than focus 2 however I have had full intelligent conversations with someone several times which was unlike the conversations I have had with the "zombie like" people of f2...

I'm still unsure if it can go the other way ((be in a focus other than f2 while dreaming))

xanth thankyou for the phasing link sounds like an easy way out of body...
I have had very few lucid dreams...unusual but I find it easier to AP. Also when I do LD it only last seconds and then I wake up in sleep paralysis.

not sure if you care, but when you wake up with sleep paralysis after becoming lucid in a dream, you should keep your eyes closed and you might be able to project. all my OOBE's have been from doing this Smiley

This is usually how I project Smiley
I actually had issues with sleep paralysis for many years untill I was told I could project from it so now I love my sleep paralysis Smiley
but like I say, I have never gone further than focus 2

You're positive?

Sometimes it can be quite difficult to know if you have or haven't.
The only hint we really get are in the personalities of those people we meet.

I am pretty sure....I have been in a random house before where all the people were zombies (not really zombies but I think you know what I mean)
other than that I have only been in my house and have been outside my house once. when I review the experiences they are always filled with things I might have seen on TV that week or concepts I have recently thought about.
