Last night I simply tried lying in bed for around 40 minutes. I deliberately let my mind wonder and I think towards the end I dipped into a light sleep because there was a point where I was like 'what just happened 5 minutes ago?' I've also tried spending around 10 minutes right after a lucid dream just laying there but again nothing seems to happen. I know not everyone experiences vibrations...I used to, but when I just lay there there are no vibrations at all.
In the past I have also tried techniques, with these I do get vibrations but after a while still nothing happens. So is astral projecting not just as simple as laying there until your body goes to sleep?
The trick is to get to the point in which you are in deep trance, which may include vibrations, but may not- look for a change in conscious awareness. And if you 'click out' you can still go back to trance, just by not going to sleep again.
Also, when we do this are we actually supposed to get up from the bed as if we are using our physical bodies?
It depends. If you are paralyzed the answer would be yes, because the movement will propel you out, but if you're not in deep enough then you will move your body. So try a 'passive method' (like remembering like what it feels to float) or being pulled by a boat while waterskiing, and not an active one (rolling, sitting up, etc.) And see what happens.
Because normally I sort of use my mind to 'pretend' my astral body is separating if that makes sense.
I don't recommend that, because it puts you in the 'observer' mode, and the point is to separate yourself.
