Hi,

The OBE's or astral projections I have experienced so far have been by the method of being aware when my body falls asleep and trying to get up at that exact moment. But I have two problems. The first one is that I need to do it after I have waked up for whatever reason in the middle of the deep sleep or REM stage, and then trying to fall asleep again. The second problem I have is that the only way it has worked is by sleeping on my back and I usually have back pain and breathing problems when sleeping on my back.

I think it has only worked that way because when I feel my jaw suddenly relax and my mouth open I know I'm falling asleep and even if I'm not too aware it kind of function like a trigger to get the awareness I need. But it is VERY hard for me to fall asleep on my back, the only way is if I feel really tired and sleepy or being high on weed but I don't smoke anymore.


I would like to have a more controlled way of being aware when my body fall asleep. Does anyone have a technique for achieving this? I have tried several things like counting from 1 to 100 hoping to realize when I lose track of the next upcoming number. I have also tried day dreaming hoping to realize when I lose track of the day dream. I've tried some other methods but any of them have worked for me.  I've been practiced some meditation and visualizations techniques but I still need more practice on those. It seems almost impossible to me to clear my head of thoughts at this stage.

Most of my early projections were while laying on my back and facing up. It seems like most projection methods work well from that position. If you can get some success with the roll-out method you may be able to work that method from a sleeping on your side and waking up technique.
That worked for me anyways. (see OBE4U.com "Forced Falling Asleep" technique).

Interesting. I think this method is worth trying.

Try lying on your back for long periods without putting pressure on yourself to fall asleep. Use the back position to practice entering a relaxed trance state instead. Once the pressure to fall asleep is removed, you should find that in time you can relax enough in that position to regularly fall asleep or OBE.
