I'm by no means new to the concept of astral projection. However, I've been attempting it for several months if not a year and have had little success. I'm starting to grow tired of attempting it so often when I'm seeing no results. I feel as if I just need someone who has actually done it to explain to me how they accomplished it for their first time. What were your signs that let you know you were close, what methods helped you the most, what did you find was useful that most sites didn't explain well enough?
I just really want to do it, but am starting to think that maybe I just cannot.
If anyone is willing to help I'll be more than thankful!!

Hi

Not going to mentor you because I don't think you can teach someone how to leave the body. Its up to every individual person to figure out how their body works. You trying for a year is ..well might seem long to you with no results, but a year is not really all that long.

Don't try so hard.. instead expect it to happen when you forget about it..LOL does that make sence. If you try to obe by doing the same thing each night in bed, it works against itself. You want to goto bed with the intention of leaving the body.. that's all. Your body and mind is very well aware of what you want to do, so let it process its brain stuff and let it do it for you. Every person is capable of a obe.. just takes some people longer, takes some people shorter..

If I explained it to you how I do it, how do I know that it will work for you? My first time just happened naturally. Signs that signal to me if I am close, is a feeling of pressure in my head, then a sudden clear alertness, eyesight happens, vibes, its just a sence in the body that says this is it..go ..get up of the bed.. that sence has never ever been wrong.

Why don't you try something else? try lucid dreaming first.. or try just seeing how slow you can make your heart beat at night, how slow you can take a breath without gasping for air..  I would advise you not to drink alcohole, smokes, tokes,pills..  those things mess up your sleep cycle.

As for websites, I don't really view other websites..just this one. This one seems to have a lot of information covered.  I find that reading other peoples obe's on a website makes my brain think and compare their experience to my own. When I spend to much time reading and thinking about other peoples obe's ..it sometimes triggers a obe for me the next night.. go figure..

What you want to do is goto bed normally and dream and sleep. Once you wake up at night, then try, just lie their motionless, thoughtless, you can replay in your head the last dream imagery you drempt. Do something to fall back asleep (which u will do naturally because u just slept) and keep the mind awake.. sometimes I count, sometimes I think of sex, most of the time I forget what I want to do, and poof..vibes...

Here are some of the best tips I have picked up:

  • Do not allow your thoughts to refer back to your physical body in any way. This means eliminating physical distraction and reaching a mental state where you forget your physical body. Notice any returning thoughts to the body, including reflecting on "is this it" feelings, intercept them and resume your focus.
  • The hardest thing for me to forget is breathing. I find that breathing through my diaphragm can allow me to lose sensation in that area. Manually inducing a sleeping breathing pattern can also be useful to greatly expedite the relaxation and sleep paralysis process.
  • Engage your focus in a way that works for you. Investing everything into seeing the horizon of darkness induces strong visuals and dissociation for me.
  • You can also try passive imagination. Let it flow naturally. Don't manually comb the experience to fill in details. Engage as many senses as you can.
  • I find it useful to imagine previous lucid dream experiences. I notice that there are often strong emotions associated with dreams that are unlike most physical world experiences. I theorize that focusing on this helps to draw your attention toward the state of mind you are trying to achieve.
  • Try to remain blissfully calm and accepting of the various energy surges and feelings you will encounter.
  • Reflect and eliminate any possible source of fear. I think fear leads back to thoughts of the physical body. One thing that gets me is noises and a sensation like people are walking around near my sleeping body.
  • It is possible to have a successful projection and not even realize or remember it. My understanding is that the mental awareness state must be maintained at both ends of the experience or it will be forgotten like most dreams are. I think this means that you cant go into deep sleep as part of your attempt.

I found it impossible to do anything when thinking of " leaving my body" If I focus instead with my eyes closed on shifting my attention to the non physical reality. I don't have to lay down to do this and generally sit in a recliner. This is called phasing which is a new set of clothing for the older traditional art of scrying.

Szaxx has a good idea  Unlimited bounderies has a mentoring program.

I find I get close to getting out by simply heading to bed early, and waking up early. (Using an alarm can be useful) Then you do something for about 15 minutes, then head back and make your attempt. Has worked for me flawlessly several times! Smiley
