Wow, too cool! It sounds like you could use a loosening method and a motion exiting technique. Have you tried the rope method? That is supposed to be a little faster then the others. I was reading through it again the other day and realized how easy it would be. Just stick with it for about ten minutes. There are other techniques you can use to project. It's good to have a little variety. Everything in your post seems normal to me. Next time, if you find the energy unbearable afterwards, have a snack.

I'm not too experienced on astral projection, but I think maybe the reason you didn't exit was because you were so aware of your body?  You say "everytime I checked", I read on anothrer post by Frank that each time you check your body it flicks your awareness back to your body and hinders the projection.

I read the post re: not "checking" too, and it helped me a lot.  Before yesterday, astral projection was totally accidental to me.. I'd kind of just wake up "out" (though I sure as hell always felt myself going back in!) I've been trying really hard to  get control over it, and last night I just tried to keep in mind that I shouldn't focus on my body at all.

Felt all those funny sensations (energy in body, ringing noise etc) and then this wierd suctiony kind of pressure, focussed in my chest, as I exited my body. No sight. Didn't have the guts to go real far, though I figure baby steps are best anyway. Couldn't have been out for more than 30 seconds, I kept being scared that my physical body would forget to breathe. Which is ridiculous, of course, but it felt like a real danger at the time.

Anyway, I'm pretty pleased, because at least I know I can do it deliberately. And it's reassuring for me to know that I can go further if I persevere eg. see stuff, meet other beings, go to wacky places - due to having done so "accidentally" in the past.

Good point KP. I'll keep that in mind next time I attempt to project.

There's a few things I forgot to mention. I tried climbing a rope out of my body, but I was having trouble imagining climbing the rope, so I have to practice that some before next attempt. I also tried walking away from my body, with emphasis on feeling my body pulling me back, but that didn't help either.

At one point, I felt significant pressure on my chest, as if a large rock was sitting on it. Also, is it normal to feel drained and sore the day after a projection?

Every moment is sacred.

The trick is to almost forget about your body.  Do some motion excersizes like spinning around the room. After a while of doing that, you should be able to go through with it. Try not to think about your body. That should take some time to get used to. You'll save some energy if you just feel the experience and don't visualize it.  I'm not sure why your body would be sore. That's never happened to me. Are you subconsciously tensing up?

I don't think there is a normal for the near obe experience. Sometimes it leaves me relaxed and feeling good, other times spaced and out of touch with my body. When did you feel the heavines? last time I almost projected I felt that in my chest, figured my energy there was holding me in my body.

Hey sanity foam, congratulations!  Let me help you a bit by suggesting you turn something around in your head.  You did nothing wrong - - - in fact, you did plenty RIGHT.  Most people (and not just those of the MTV generation!) try for half an hour and give up.

What inhibited a full projection, most likely, was your stress, which is to be expected, since you are a beginer.  If you are in a fully aware state, OBE  sensations can be most distressing if you don't know what to expect.  Next time, surrender to the experience.  Now that you have felt it, you don't have to be frightened any more.

The tug in the chest is also normal.  The "pull" feeling is not trying to hold you back . . . it's just a feeling that goes along with most solar-plexus focused projections (some people feel it in their heads - - OW!).

So, continue to do what you're doing, you are bound to succeed eventually!

Last night I couldn't sleep, so I decided to work on my Astral Projection.

Normally I'm pretty lazy with deep relaxation, but  this time I spent about a half hour or more on relaxing/meditating, just to see if it would make a difference. It definitely did.

When I normally try to project, I might feel a brief rush of energy, some other weird sensations, like my consciousness flickering to another part of the room briefly, but it never lasts very long. This time I strarted getting intense energy (even before I started my projection technique), starting in my legs. At first it felt like my legs were falling asleep, but soon the energy feeling was very pronounced and different. The thing is, I also had some control over it. I imagined it moving into my upper body, and it did! It spread into my hands and arms first, then slowly through my shoulders into my chest, where it felt like my heart started pounding, then into my stomach.

I found I could move very, very  slowly, and still keep my trance, so I checked my pulse to make sure I wasn't about to kill myself. My heartbeat was unnusually slow, but my chest was vibrating like mad. Soon the vibrations became really intense over my whole body (especially in my arms and legs). At this point I was pretty much paralyzed, and I started to feel as if I was floating above my physical body (the projection technique I was using was to float slowly out of my body, struggling against it). The projection technique was extremely vivid, and I started to experience Astral vision! I could actually see the room vaguely with my eyes closed!! At first I thought my eyes had drifted open, but I couldn't blink, and felt my eyelids moving over my eyes, so they were definitely closed.

But this is about how far I got with it. The energy after this felt like it expanded beyond the confines of my body, as if it was growing, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get out. I couldn't move, my body felt extremely rigid, but everytime I checked, I realized it was relaxed. The only place where I didn't feel the energy so much was my face. The rest of my head was buzzing like crazy, but my face remained this circle of calm. I'm suspicious that this is the reason why I couldn't project?

After about a half hour of this intense energy, I suddenly had to go to the bathroom, and was getting extremely tired, so I got up, or tried. At first I couldn't move, and it was only with extreme effort when I finally got out of bed. It's like the energy was trying to hold me rigid. I couldn't move my hands, walking down the hallway I felt like I was going to walk out of my body, I was walking like a robot. When I finally could move my hands, it felt like they were bending out of my body. Standing in the bathroom it felt like I shook my head inside my body, and almost fell over. After a ten minute trip I finally made it back into bed. My bed had these perfect little sweat marks that conalligned with my shoulders, chest, lower back, and legs. It took at least another ten minutes before the energy went away enough for me to sleep (even then the enrgy was prevalent), and when it did I completely zonked out.

This morning I'm sore all over, but can't wait to try again. Can anybody help me figure out what went wrong? Why couldn't I, with all my effort, project out of my body? I was so close, and yet, so far.

Every moment is sacred.
