Renewed Interest

Hi All,

About 10 years ago I had a great interest in Astral projection. I also had numerous sucessful projections but only from waking up from a sleep state.
What I mean is, I would wake up in the early morning in my bed and would just open my eyes before falling back to sleep. But I soon found that when this happened, the reason I could fall back to sleep so quickly was because my entire body was asleep. If I tried to move I would realise that I was in a state of sleep paralysis and couldn't move. If I closed my eyes and imagined that I was floating or even closed my eyes and tried to roll over in my bed I would feel this strong strange and frankly frightning sensation of my body tearing away from itself.

I would then fall out of bed in the strangest daze ever. But research had told me "get away from your physical body asap and things would appear clearer". From my experiece this was true. Once I got away from my body I could see things clearer. However it was not this reality but a strange dream like reality. Not the same as a lucid dream however. It was as real as I am typing now. Very very real! Almost more real than real life. What I mean by that is, I was so aware of everything around me that it felt more real than anything I had experienced before.

I have even proved to myself on one occassion that what I was seeing was actually real life! I projected and seen that outside it was a lovely sunny day. I was hovering above out house outside and could see my step father outside walking dogs around out field. When I got out of bed 10 minutes later, I asked my step dad what he was doing 10 minutes earlier and he confirmed that he was walking dogs around the field. Coincidence? Possibly, but it was enough to further my interest.
I have since had stranger occurances. One which included me projecting in my house and walking down the hall and looking into a mirror at the end of the hall (that isn't there in real life) and seeing myself in the mirror as a really old man. It was a bit strange but has puzzled me ever since.

Anyway, if anyone can offer an explanation on the mirror incident I would be very grateful as it is something I think about quite often.

Another strange thing that has occured with me and also my girlfriend on numerous occassions is the following:
I have just recently finished college. My girlfriend would get up for work in the morning and I wouldn't start college until a few hours later so I would stay in bed.
She would get ready and go to work. I would be lying in bed and would fall asleep but would soon have this strange sensation. I would sort of half wake up and could hear people chatting and moving around the house. This would seem to me to be completely natural, as if my girlfriend was getting ready for work. Then it would dawn on me that she has already left for work. All of a sudden I would wake up a bit more and would have this horrible sensation that someone was standing at the door of my room or even in the room. It wouldn't be a completely threating feeling but the whole situation would
be made all the more frightning by the fact that I can't move because of sleep paralysis and I would have this strange haze and dizzy sensation all over me.
 I would eventually regain physical control over my body and things would be as normal. My girlfriend has had similar experience. The strange thing is I experienced these events much more frequently when I was staying at my girlfriends parents house which is situated beside a graveyard. Since we got our own place they have become much less frequent. Rare in fact.

for the last few year I have been apprehensive about projecting. I haven't mastered voluntary projecting yet but even the way I used to do it during early mornings waking ups I havebeen at the least, frightened to do it but recently I have regained interest. Has anyone had similar experiances?

The mirror, the noise, the "someone in the room", is just your subconscious playing tricks. Perhaps reading R Bruce's book will help. see the Books review forum.
