Hi all !

I read the first book of R.Monroe but someone here said (frank if i remember well ?) Monroe declared "he actually never left his body" in his last two books saying it was more of a 180 phase's change...

So as i did not read his last two books; can you guys confirm me this affirmation and explain what he really experienced ?

Also i want to know of course if there is a consensus on this Monroe topic.

Thanks for your light.

Monroe used out of body experience.  I thought the phase was one method of having a o.b.e.

Thanks for your light.

Monroe did start out using the term "out of body" and continued to use this term until his death. The Monroe Institute still uses this term.

I can understand why the label "out of body" can be confusing to newer practitioners, because there is a question whether we actually leave the body or not within the OBE community. For example, Robert Bruce suggests (strongly) that we are "projecting a double". Bruce also holds forth that we do not actually leave the body until death. I mention this so that you know that there is some disagreement about this in the OBE community (not a consensus).

Back to Monroe and his specific techniques. As Monroe had more experiences, he developed and improved upon his methods. These newer methods did change the language and words that he used to describe his non-physical experiences. One of these improvements included what he called the "quick switch" method. Near the end of his life, this is the only method that he used. And yes, the quick switch is much closer to what many here at the Astral Pulse call "phasing". And ... Monroe did mention this method in his later books. So, yes, you could generally hold forth that Monroe went from OBE's to phasing (using quick switching as his primary method).

In addition, Kepple and Monroe were each trained as engineers, so each of them explained phasing in those terms and in a similar way. Monroe likened our consciousness to a radio dial, so when you go somewhere else you are basically changing "your radio station". He called these changes "focuses" or "focus levels" ... and so did Kepple (eventually). This is where your reference to Monroe's "180 degree phase change" becomes relevant. HOWEVER, just note that Kepple's focus levels ended up not matching Monroe's focus levels (e.g., they are numbered differently). Near the end of his life, Kepple attempted to redefine his "4 focus levels of consciousness" because he felt that his experiences were a bit different from Monroe's.
