Seriously though, I don't know much about that kind of stuff and how you may be able to get rid of it.  I know a lot of people here do though so hopefully they'll help ya.

I know that in Robert Bruce's book he says that because when you AP you don't actually leave you body, you create a consciousness "double", which means that no spirit can take control or posses you.

a suggestion, maybe you are just scaring yourself with that knocking and stuff.  if you do project and contact a shade, just, as others suggest, call upon some help from higher spirits, as for your spirit guide, or, just ignore it...

You know Epsilon, I think it’s past time I found a new house! I knew that house was trouble the moment I first laid eyes on it! … I figured that people here would know of something, I just don’t know who to ask or who would know. As for you, quant, I’ve noticed this knocking at other times too. And a few years ago, when I was just ‘toying’ with the idea that ghosts (and the like) could be living in my attic, I joked and asked one day, “If something is up there, knock please!” Lo and behold. Knock. Knock. Knock! Freeeeeeeeeeeaky!… Of course, I’ve always had an over-active imagination. But stiiiilll….

*makes mental note to buy that book!* Good to know, that nothing can posses me. Hmm. Calling for higher spirits? Or my guides? I think I believe in ‘my guides’, I’m just not sure how I’d know the difference (IF) I met one. I’d probably wouldn’t even believe the ‘spirit’, even if it would leave me alone if I ask it too…

Um… I’ve been searching around the site, reading as much as I can (can you say, ‘newbie’?!). Anyway, I’m curious about something. When stumbling upon a few posts that brought up evil entities and negs (meaning ‘negatives’?), and how they can’t harm you (in the Astral Realm/s)and such, something struck me.

Is it safe to attempt an OBE if you’re in a room or house that you think could be haunted? Can anything enter your body if you successfully achieved AP? Because while attempting an OBE (on the times that I noticed) I always hear a knocking sound coming from the attic!… and sometimes it scares me so I stop.

I also feel slightly drowsy when I enter my room and the words ‘DIE’ (written twice) and ‘DIE SLOWLY’) are written on the ceiling (doesn’t really bother me much now). And just to add, almost every time that I've tried OBE, and failed, I end up in Sleep Paralysis. Mere coincidences? Or should I try somewhere else to project?
