ALOT of people use this technique.  I have used it once.  It worked good but felt like I was still physical.  Every time I go to use it I think "no, I dont feel any sensations... nope..." as I start to roll "naw still physical" and I just stay still and try something else.  I would LOVE it if anyone here who uses this technique can give me an overview and some signposts they follow to know when to begin rolling.  Thanks. :rolling:

I was also wondering about a travelling technique I have been reading alot about in Monroes books called stretching.  He simply thinks about his destination (usually a person, not a place) and stretches out for it at the same time.  Anyone use this to move around?  Sounds easy and effective.

Even now when I use rolling out I worry on occasion that it's my physical body rolling off the bed.
I usually attempt to roll during the vibrational phase, I wait until the vibrations are full developed and then go. Occasionally I feel like i'm rolling around and around on the sopt instead of rolling off the bed.

I've tried streatching with mixed results. One example is when I tried to go to the moon this way, I ended up inside what looked like rock (perhaps I stretched into the rock of the moon itself?)

I second MisterJingo's comments.

I just keep on rolling until I know I'm no longer on the bed and hope that I don't hit the floor with a bang!

I've also had the sensation that I am rolling round and round inside my physical body.  It's weird because it feels like you are facing down, when you know full well that you are facing up - rather disorientating.

Often I wave my arms around just as I'm beginning to separate - and I can't tell you how many times I've convinced myself that they are my physical arms.  I have to push them into my face to see if they are physical or not.  Every time, they have NOT been physical.  I know this when my fingers go into my face, as if it were made of plasticine.   :happy5:

Thanks for the input guys and gals.  I am really looking forward to applying this technique as it seems easier than my technique I am using now.  I just need to work on getting those vibes back.  Only had vibes once in the past 3 months.  I have successfully projected in that time period but without vibes and it makes it hard to tell when I need to roll if I dont get any vibes.  How do you folks induce vibes???  I have tried almost every technique I have come across and it seems the only way I get vibes is by not trying.

I have had a lot of success with rolling out.  I usually wait a few seconds after the vibes have started and mentally imagine myself rolling around inside myself and then off the bed and it works most of the time.

Occasionally when Iím rolling around in my body and I feel like Iím detaching, instead of waiting to fall onto the floor Iíll push myself up and try to float away.

Sometimes I focus the rolling around sensation just inside of my head and I will feel a swirling sensation within my head and I will fall onto the floor.

im no expert, but i seem to get vibes and SP a lot easier when i sort of get into an HI dream sequence from the trance state, and then i sort of get lucid somehow in the HI then appear back at my bed and get vibes and SP right away. i have yet to try rolling out yet but i plan on it next time!

Hi knightlight

In all my OBEs, I've only experienced the famous vibes once.

It's hard to describe but I kind of know when I'm ready to separate.  Everything seems different, but it's very subtle which is why sometimes I still think I'm physical.

Through experience, I also know that if I at least vaguely think I might be "ready" to leave my body, I generally am.

I'm trying to slow down the whole process mentally, so I can recognise it and describe it better, but unfortunately, I've not had many experiences recently.  But I reached a lovely state a few days ago where everything went into a sort of "nothingness" state.  I've most likely experienced it loads of times before, but zoomed past it, whereas this time I was able to acknowledge and enjoy the state.  It was rather addictive.  No sound (I mean, no sound whatsoever - again, hard to describe), no anything really.  My mind was able to think, "wow, this is VAST and gorgeous."

It was possibly a deep Focus 10 (Monroe), but whatever it was, I was content just to be there.  It didn't last long and I moved towards Focus 1 (or C1 in Monroe terms) rather than further away from the physical.

I'm hoping to get to the point where I can describe in "friendly" language what the state is where one can separate.  At the moment, I am only able to say that it's obvious when one "gets there", but that's no use to someone who's never been there  smiley

When I first started having OBEs, I tried desperately to "will" myself out of my body and float upwards.  It was only after a while that I read about rolling out.  What a breeze that was!  I think it's my favourite exit method.  But with ANY exit method, you absolutely need to know 100% that you are ready to exit, and that state is hard to describe.

Hello

I'm very interested as well by this rolling out. It must be so fun!

One of the teachers at The Monroe Institute told us that when he does this technique he sometimes sinks. The closest I've made so far is sinking as well, through the bed, which is not really rolling out  rolleyes

The fact is that the move is not familiar. Not that the sinking is familiar but.... it seems more natural to "fall down", don't you think so?
Does the technique requires some prerequisites? For example, did you do this physically before so that to get a feeling of the move? I wonder if it can help

Yours,
Eagle of Light

Hi Eagle of Light

It is fun - especially when you get to the end of the bed and gently float downwards rather than crashing to the floor in a heap  :approve:

I also have sunk down through the bed - actually that is one of my favourite exit methods.  I think it's a manifestation of the level of relaxation - when I'm THAT relaxed, down I go.  Like sinking through a melting tub of butter - lovely  grin

You are right - it isn't particularly a familiar sensation - rolling sideways.  But as a child I used to roll down hillsides on my side.  Over and over.  It was great fun then, so perhaps I remember the sensation from those times.

I would imagine rolling around physically would only help the process.  It's probably hard to get the initial movement going (which is why rolling down a hill was easy - gravity got you moving).  When I'm ready to roll in a non-physical sense, I tend to "push" mentally to get myself started.  Another hard to describe experience.  Actually, that brings me onto another exit method which is VERY effective with me.  A mental exit.  When you feel you are ready, imagine your mind is on the back of a catapult.  Stretch that catapult as far back as it will go.  And then release.  You will normally find yourself flung across the room.   :yikes2:

It's a bit of a shocker - but it gets you out - that's for sure  cheesy

Hey I managed to Roll Out!!!  I was sleeping, dreaming about scary stuff, random evil things screaming in my face, I became lucid and sort of thought I was in the process of removing some base fears and just so happened to catch myself doing so and woke myself up.  I felt funny from the beginning.  I could feel my chakras pulsating which had only happened to me once before.  I started to get the vibes and felt very seperated so I simply rolled over and went through the wall next to my bed and opened my eyes.  Too bad I opened them too soon and ended the experience. embarassed   It was very easy and fun!  I hope I can reproduce the experience soon with better results.

You roll out by... rolling out!!!  :kermit:   I have rolled out on my side and on my back now.  As soon as you get to a certain point you just kind of feel like its time and you just roll over and slip out.

Terrific shocked

I definitely want to try this! I want to be sure I understand correctly: you imagine your head (your body? what do you mean by your mind?) stretching backwards, facing up sinking backwards through the bed? then you release it forwards toward the ceiling?  Is this the correct description?

Also, is your movement curved like a catapult would do or vertical?

Its kind of hard for me to explain as I am not that experienced with it but for me it was kind of both.  I felt very light and pulsing so I thought about rolling out AND lifted my shoulder and turned in what seemed to be a physical way but obviously wasnt as I fell through my wall.  Maybe someone else with more experience can help you out on that one.

Sounds fun I have experienced this in reverse once where I was flung backwards really fast instead of forwards, like some god being had flicked me with a giant finger in the chest.  I rocketed backwards so fast I thought I was never going to get back to my body (obviously I was wrong, gotta love insta-travel).  Whenever I think of it I always imagine 3 or 4 big energy beings sitting around me watching me trying to get out and chuckling.  One generates a huge energy hand and says "watch this!!!" and flicks me through a few dimensions while the others laugh like beavis and butthead.

The "roll" technique has always been my method of projecting. For some reason, I always find it to be extremely effective and easy once the vibrations have begun. What I do is once I find myself in that perfect state (usually early morning, a few hours before I would normally get up) and the vibes begin, I gently start rocking side by side. After awhile, the gentle rocking begins to feel more like swaying from left to right until I simply attempt to turn towards the edge of my bed all the way over...

Usually at this point I simply roll out and almost always float gently to the floor like a balloon without helium. Then my journey can begin!

I guess you can call it the "Rock n Roll!" LOL

My mind is my whole being (mind, brain, spirit, soul, body, etc) encompassed in a little box in my head.

To explain, look at the computer for a bit.  Now close your eyes.  You should see an afterimage of the screen - a rectangle behind your eyes.  Close everything else down and become that afterimage.  Nothing else matters except "you" in that little box.  "You" have no body, no spirit, no soul - are you getting my drift?  You are just that little box.

So when you are ready to put yourself on that catapult, put whatever is "you" on the back of the rubber band.  I tend to put the whole box on it.

Quote from: Eagle of Light

Depends where I'm positioned.  I've only ever done this when I've been on my recliner chair.  So within my physical head (where my box is), I've pulled back (wherever "back" is) and pointed to a position the room (let's say 20ft away horizontally, towards the back wall).  I focus in my box/head/mind to that position and then mentally let the catapult go.

It's very envigorating, if a little sudden.  grin

I hope that explains it better.  With experiences such as these, they are not the easiest to put into words.

Sarah

PS  My movement once I've let go of that catapult is unknown - vertical or curved - it's too "violent" to appreciate.  I simply find myself at the other side of the room, somewhat shaken and slightly dazed  :freak:

 :laughing4:

Oh yes, I've had that happen too.  Snapped back like I was attached to my body by a massive elastic band.  I had to laugh like hell - there was nothing else to do...

I've also been catapulted (without my permission) into the air backwards.  It's really frightening going that fast BACKWARDS.  I was flung for ages and started literally feeling sick in my stomach (who knows which stomach?!!) until I snapped back to the physical, feeling quite queasy.

I have been trying the roll out method here lately. When I lay down I can easily start the swaying back and forth motion. It feels like I am swinging in a hammock. I can make myself go very fast. But when I try to roll I can only make 1/8 to 1/4 of a roll. I think what my whole problem is that I am not in the right state to separate. My mind is awake but my body is not asleep.

I am a light sleeper and last night I was waking up quite a bit. Each time I would feel the swaying and rocking sensations. I woke up just before dawn and started to roll more than I usually do. I just rolled right of my bed and slowly floated down to the floor and bounced like a balloon. At this point I couldn't see. After a couple of seconds I did open my eyes and I was floating about a foot above my bed. I looked at my hands and they looked funny. They were kind of gray and didn't look quite like they do in the physical. I looked at my bed and I didn't see my body there. I tried to push myself up and away from my bed. I then all of a sudden was back in my body.

After I was awake I tried to do the roll out method again but was not able to. I was able to sway back and forth but no rolling.  My only OBE's have been when I am on the border of sleep. If I could master the state of Mind Awake-Body Asleep I know the swaying motion would be more than enough to throw myself out of my body.

The swaying motion is wonderful - and I'd completely forgotten about it.

I used to spend ages just swinging from left to right - even when I knew I could separate.  I'd simply lie there and swing, going higher and higher.

Sometimes I'd be swinging so much, I'd find myself floating about in the room, quite a few feet away from the physical.  I guess I swung myself right out of my body

You can also change the direction of the swinging/swaying.  Backwards and forwards (as if on a swing) is just as nice as left to right.

I wonder if the reason I like it so much is because it reminds me of being rocked to sleep as a baby?

Yes...I can even do it as I sit at my computer with my eyes open.
