I know that some people, often people who have never had an OBE report, report such experiences during a surgery. Like, they float up in the operating room, observe what the doctors are saying, etc. Welp, I'm going to have surgery for the first time next week, and I'm wondering if anyone here ever had surgery and had some kind of experience during it.

I'm terrified of the surgery itself -- I sure don't want to wake up on the table (what they call being "light"), because that sure as hell happens sometimes -- but I wouldn't mind projecting from there if possible. I just don't want to be aware of physical sensations of pain in my body, I think that would be unbearable!

Curious if anyone has any personal experience with this!

I have never experienced that myself. The only surgeries I had were done when I was very young, like a Double Hernia, Tonsils, the normal for a young age. No majors ones though. But I have heard of this happening many times before.

MJ and I had a friend that had two NDE's, that ended in lengthy OBEs. In one of them, he lived as a 2X4 in the wall of elderly couple's home. At night, he went to the pubs and sat with a number of gossipy ladies. But that was a full fledge NDE. He was clinically dead in both of them. He passed over for good though 5 years after his NDEs. He came back to right all the wrongs in his life.. Once he had made amends to all the people he needed to, he had a heart attack and transitioned over for good.

I'm sure like everything else, your chance of success would have to do with intent. The last intended thought that you have before you go under. Tell us how it went though.

Good luck GrumpyRabbit... I'm saying a little prayer for you and that everything goes ok.

I remember when I got my appendix taken out. The anesthesia really does a good job of knocking you out. One second I was counting down and the next I am waking up in a hospital bed. I don't remember any dreams or visions or anything. Maybe that's a good thing...

Anyway, the best of luck to you.  smiley

Just letting everyone know my surgery was a few days ago and it went well. Like shineling said, one minute I was on the operating table and they put a mask over my face and asked me to take a few deep breaths, and the next minute my eyes were closed and I heard a woman's voice telling me it was all over and I was in recovery. Kinda how I wanted it to go. Still have another week or so of healing to do, but certainly doing better than I was a few days ago (general anesthesia is no joke! never want to repeat that!!)

Oh goodness.., yes I aim to never have to experience that, or any of that, thank you for catching us to speed on where you are in the recovery process. Are you home? still in hospital? rehab? I hope it wasn't anything too serious. And so pleased it went fairly the way you wanted it.

I know right...? That anesthesia is no joke.

So glad you're alright GrumpyRabbit. Just concentrate on positive thinking and allow yourself to heal. Your body knows what it's doing.  smiley

Medicine these days is pretty impressive sometimes. Outpatient surgery! Thank crap for laproscopic! I was in recovery for 4 hours, then went home. Have been taking it easy and probably will so for the next week or so. They said it would take about 2 weeks to recover.

Two weeks sounds very reasonable. I am glad you are able to do the recovery at home, infinitely better that hospital or rehab. Do you feel good about having this done? Is it a one-time thing and you're done? ( I do hope ). Plenty of rest, lots of sleep, gentle exercise, lots of water. Loooong, deep breaths. We all know the drill, lol. Let us know if you get any good Trips out during all this.

Glad you came through the surgery Grumpy. I've been put under a few times but not once experienced an obe although I had numerous obe's while sick. Just glad I was out cold during surgeries.

Well I'd rather have not, but it needed to happen and I'm glad it's done. Should be all good now =)

Thanks for stopping by, Nameless!
