Do you all find it important or impossible to tell those that you care about about AP?  How did those of you that have disclosed this part of yourselves go about doing so?  What did you say?  What was the reaction?

I told my spouse right away. We have always been under the mindset of trust in the universe. When something comes into our lives it's usually for a good reason. My wife is very "Earth" oriented and likes to remain here in the physical. She also really likes sleep, lol. I tell her about things that I am allowed to say that occur in the Astral. Sometimes she gives me a completely different viewpoint on what I am seeing and what the lesson really was. Her sister knows about my travels as well, it is her deceased husband that has chosen to be one of my many guides. But, I have never revealed anything about Charlie to her. The rest of her family is a too close minded to even fathom the thought of OBE's. They are extremely devote Catholics and there is nothing wrong with that.

It depends on your partner's disposition and beliefs of course.  But generally, you shouldn't tell them what you are doing.

I mentioned it in passing to my wife not too long ago.  She said I was foolish for believing such a thing and made me promise not to try it ever again.  She's not a closed-minded person, she just didn't handle the idea well.

Let AP be your outlet.

My gf is supportive, but still thinks I'm a little crazy.  Smiley

But it's okay.  If they truly love you and are accepting, they'll be fine.

Some of my friends know about it and are interested.  My mum knows about it and supports doing it.  My wife has known about what I do, and, despite being scared of doing it herself, she did it recently by accident.  My best man, whose mum died not long ago, is very interested in having an OOBE.

All the side things i do, meditation, energy work, AP, etc. Was actually one of the things my girlfriend and i knew about each long before we went out. At first she was skeptical, but she had an interest in it so she kept in open mind. Eventually, i showed her that it's all very much real. My parents on the other hand, all they knew is i work with crystals, and when they found that out they went hay wire. They pulled out a bible, yelled passages at me, told me what i do is against god, etc. They probably think i'm the devil  grin If they acted like that just from crystals, imagine how they'd act if they knew about everything else. But there's only 3 people in person who know what i do.

Yes, people have different views on it.  There was this guy I told about OOBEs and he went all Biblical on me and said how the Devil was behind it all.  There is nothing evil about these experiences.  In fact, they can help you to evolve your consciousness and change your life.

Oh the great debate on if OBE is the path to the devil. I also admire people who jump the gun and judge the book by it's cover vs. understanding and learning it's principals and why one would achieve such consciousness.

I have done years of research, read the bible, discussed this with my local pastor and many follower's of different believe systems. My wife was concerned, upset and thought the same as others. Over the years, my interest in helping others through hospice volunteering, running marathons for charities, playing music therapy for patients all comes from OBE. It is all based on intent and how you use the vehicle of OBE in helping others.

The bible states no where that soul travel, astral projection is the devils path and will lead those to burn in hell. Also, so many experiences and stories of lucid dreaming, communication with god, and miracles that are illustrated in visions, dreams in the bible. It is all one of the same! Then you get the people that say "no, it is not" - So you are telling me today, if I talk to God in a dream, OBE, trance state it is the devils work... but it is okay 2,000 years ago people of the time would receive these messages in the same state of awareness...

Best thing you can offer people is understanding, explain briefly and how it has made you better person. Demonstrate experiences from the bible and obe are the same and it does not take you down a dark path. Also, don't judge until you read the book from start to finish.

The bible is full of OBE's and astral experiences.  There is even an example of full-blown physical teleportation.  All of these experiences are "good," always pertaining to God and never to satanic activity.

I abandoned Christianity years ago, but I can at least offer some peace of mind to people worried that they are serving Satan by AP'ing or something.

I don't know your parents. If they are reasonable you might be able to explain them that first of all, half of the bible was written before Jesus (2000 years before him, and this part has all kinds of ridiculous things and logical fallacies), and that secondly the bible is not to be interpreted literally, but that it is about the underlying message. Many of the content has been changed a lot over the years, but a big part of the message to be nice and love others is still there.

You could also tell them how many people hop into their SUV's and drive through poor and sad areas to a church, where someone tells them to be more like Jesus. After that they return and drive through these poor areas again, still not doing anything about it.

I don't really have experience with crazy religion parents, but convincing them that the bible shouldn't be interpreted literally is what you should do if you think it's possible. If your attitude clearly shows that you know you're correct, and that you know they're not that might help. If you succeed this will be a great service to them.

The thing that stopped me from attending church was that when I was young the pastor had a party at his home. His home was one step down from a mansion and there was a beautiful Caddy and a Mercedes parked in his driveway as we were pulling up in our VW's. I saw people every week giving their hard earned money away for donations, I mean people that lived paycheck to paycheck. But the pastor was living a life of luxury. That didn't seem right to me.

Thanks for the input guys. I was a bit hesitant to tell my girlfriend about APing and as expected she thought it was all silly, unguided nonsense. Luckily she loves me and doesn't think I'm crazy but the belief itself is. I wouldn't of told her but I'll be leaving in January for Army BCT (boot camp) then who knows where after that. We've been weighing our options for when I leave and breaking up is one of them. I don't want her to feel tied down to me when I'm not even going to be around. I told her there was one way to see each other (APing) and she's been giving me hell ever since lol. But I am really disappointed that she thinks it's impossible because it'd be nice to see her in the Astral.

Boot camp eh?  Well thank you for your service in these times.  It's great to see the bravery of those willing to go into a potentially dangerous situation in order to better themselves, defend the country, or provide for their families etc.  Having been through the same situation myself, and gone through combat, I can offer a bit of perspective for you.  For one, if you two really love each other, I'd say go for the distance relationship.  You won't be able to talk on the phone often during basic, but after you get to AIT you can pretty much whenever you want.  If you are deployed overseas there are still internet cafes, phone centers etc, but you will have to negotiate a time difference.  I met my wonderful wife online and she is from Peru.  We talked for 2 years before ever meeting and our love just grew.  AP would be great, but a relationship needs something concrete, i.e. she needs to hear your voice, see your letters and pictures etc.  With the technology we have, what was impossible even 10 years ago is very much possible now.

As for learning AP, I think it would be a great sanctuary from the rigors of combat.  I have seen many turn to meditation in the military as I myself had done.  Learn all you can about meditation, AP, and spirituality before you go to basic.  It will really help you through.

Best of Luck,
Jonathan

Fighting someone else's battles -____- I give the people who go out to war credit, they have the bravery yes. It's just the fact they are blindly fighting someone else's battle that i don't like. You don't know the real reason why you are fighting, or who sent you there. Don't leave your girlfriend just cause your going to boot camp, you're not tying her down to anything. Just keep on meditating while you are over there, and project when you can.

Whether you're serving or not, we're all blind to what our gov't. is doing. Not everyone, in fact I'd say almost no one joins the military out of pure patriotism. The fact is that serving offers some great benefits, opportunities and experience that the civilian world doesn't. For example I will be a Black Hawk mechanic and hopefully, if I prove worthy, a Black Hawk pilot one day. Becoming a helicopter pilot in the civilian world is very hard and requires a great deal of money. The point is that we all join for our own reasons - please don't insult us by saying we're fighting blindly. We all know we're the grunts of a higher command. However aren't you glad we're voluntarily serving (unlike China or Korea where every man is forced to serve) so your butt can stay at home.
Sigh, ANYWAY this wasn't supposed to be a military post if i remember correctly...

The fact is, if you go in the military, you're participating in something you don't want to be a part of. For example soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan are being used as peons for imperialism and corporatism, harming millions of innocents in the process.

I personally would never join the military because of knowledge I have, and some opinions about it, joining the military would make me unhappy and a huge hypocrite. If military service would be mandatory I would emigrate or find some other way out. I think that if you would really understand what's going on you wouldn't want to join the military either. It's not too late yet, you know. Not joining will have many many advantages, for example you won't have to leave your girlfriend.

I recommend you give it some more thought. Look up more information about what joining the military means, and what you will be a part of. You won't be defending liberties, you won't be helping people. You will be a simple peon, to be used or disposed at elite (government or corporate) will to generate more wealth and power for them. And it comes at a cost, innocent people get harmed. A lot. Really, once you get into it a bit you will probably change your mind. If not, then I wish you good luck.

And I mean no disrespect for people in the military. It's just that, if they would know the truth most if not all of them wouldn't be in the military. They are brainwashed and I feel sorry for them.

It's unrealistic to think this world can exist without corruption, government, and military. That's just how it is. I agree that America is always sandwiching itself into places it shouldn't be, and it's usually for personal gain not to help others as we are meant to believe. Like I said before, most people don't serve because of patriotism but other reasons. It's just wrong to believe everyone who joins is blind or brainwashed or whatever. I don't appreciate the "cluelessness" you all are suggesting. Let's try to practice what we preach and mind our own business and keep the comments to the spiritual subject at hand. XD

If you really think about that statement you just made... that is exactly why there is corruption, government and military, because people think it's something that HAS to be there.

I understand what's being said, but not everyone sees it that way, and you can't force them to see it that way. There are a lot of good, non-brainwashed people in the military who end up in it from all kinds of circumstances, like being raised in a military family, or for getting money for college, or want to see the world, or simply don't know what else to do with their lives. Everyone's life experiences and opportunities are unique. I think it's AWESOME that we have soldiers who meditate and practice AP.

My brother joined it, but only to get away from my parents. I can't blame him either.. I like seeing both sides of the coin. So, i'd say that the military does do some good. My brother has told me that it tough him all kinds of things like discipline and responsibility.. but he still hates it there.  grin

Ha. I don't think it HAS to be there. I think it's impossible to eliminate completely. There will always be people not qualified to yield power in high positions and there will always be people that do not have the integrity to hold moral standards in society. There will always be issues that bring up very strong opposing opinions. There will always be resources people want control of. The list goes on. Why don't you all step in and tell the colonies of insects that go to war with each other that peace is possible? Or the groups of chimpanzees that beat outsider chimps to death. Thinking everyone/everything can coexist without some conflict is naive.
But thats ok, it's not naivete based on ignorance but on hope for what could be. You can't even find harmony in a spiritual forum. XD

If you look at all of the civilizations in history, which are the ones who inevitably end up failing?  The ones who cannot live in peace with their neighbors.  Rome is a good example, militarily they were the best and the most advanced and disciplined in the world.  However their downfall is they would make war and expand beyond what they were able to sustain.  Eventually they became weak and small tribes chipped away at their empire.  The same can be said of the imperialistic colonies of the 16-1700's.  Look where they are today, they have only a fraction of the power they used to hold.  Germany is also a good example.  I believe the US is heading this way as well.  Time and again it's proven that war doesn't really create peace.  Peace can only be obtained when we search within and find our inner peace.  Then we can help our brother and sister find their inner peace. "A peacemaker shall be known as a child of God."  Do we need the military to protect our ideals and sovereinty? Yes.  If we carry a sword, does that mean we necessarily have to use it? No.  Creating suffering only leads to more suffering.
