Hello guys.....

Wanted to post something quick. I had an opertunity to relax and try the process of AP. It just so happend that the house was quiet today. Around 10 am I decided to give it a go. I usually do this at night as it is pretty well the only time I have quiet.
And also FYI... I also use earplugs while I do this.

All I really wanted to do was practice relaxing.

After what felt like 10 to 15 min I felt this odd sensation in the center of my right foot, on the sole of my foot. Almost like a tingle.

Then while my eyes were closed things seemed to get "darker", hard to explain that. It was dark and seemed to get darker?

I then felt another tingle right between my eyebrows and sort of the top of the bridge of my nose.

I say the image of a white object almost looked like a square box. I thought I heard the kids stampeding up the stairs and then I sat up!

Was this a step in the right direction.  I noticed that every time I had a sensation I wanted to get scared and tense up.

Am I on the right track dose any of this sound familiar to you or is my mind playing tricks on me?

It is all familiar - the foot tingling could be energy sensations, increased awareness of blood circulation, a hallucinated tickle from the mind to test if you are awake.

The darkness thing sounds like the void. It is basically a blank state of consciousness. Usually it has a "3 dimensional" quality about it and the transition is also associated with increased peripheral awareness. It is good success to reach this state, you can do anything from the void.

The hallucination of sounds is pretty common. Sometimes a subtle real world sound will get distorted and your mind exaggerates it into something like this. Other times you may literally see or feel people touching you. You have crossed over to another reality without realising it. I call these experiences mini dreams and they are usually jarring.

I am happy to hear this. Thank you for the reply.

I can say weather I was in the void or not. I was unable to stay there. I went in and out twice. But when I was in that state it was a little frightening. Thus I ended up coming out. I'm not sure why I was jarred out as it felt like a safe environment.

I am very new at this so it is all taking a bit of getting used to.

You are certainly on the right track. The tensing up is a perfectly normal response to seeing/feeling something you weren't quite expecting at that moment. Practice not reacting, like when someone sneaks up behind you and  pokes you in the ribs. It will get weirder so expect that and remember you will wake up and resume your normal day.

You should at some point become hyper-aware, when that happens just relax into it and observe.

Have a look at this. Exit Signs and Symptoms.
 http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/exit_symptomssignposts-t46206.0.html

It sounds like your body was being "desensitized", which is normal and that the last piece to go was your foot. I have this happen often, whereas one part or another of my body will begin to tingle, just before my non physical focus is complete. The change in darkness sounds like you are entering the "void", also know as the 3D darkness. There is a strange change to the depth here and now it is time to start exploring what lies within it. Do not take a sneak peek back at your body though. That will lead to a prompt end to your current session.
This is when you "stay the course" and begin your adventure!  smiley

Thanks for the reply. That makes sence. When I was in the "void" if I was there i got the feeling the I was very small in a large dark room. Is that about the feeling you get?

I apoligize as that is the only way I can explain it. I was there for mabey 2 seconds each time.

What do you guys use to stay there?

2 seconds sounds about right when you begin. That's enough chance to get a "sneak peek" and have your excitement blow all your progress, lol. But it does get better with time.

Crap...I still can't figure out how to quote...

Okay...everything Lumaza said in his last post, I can multiply like by 7X...lol grin 2 seconds is spot on...

The first couple times in the Void, the first couple times 'traveling dimensionally', the first few times you 'materialize' in a new dimensional space...your awareness is SO hard-pressed, SO over-excited, SO over-loaded with a 'GI-NORMOUS' amount of new sensory information...it is almost impossible to describe...you kind of quickly conform to it...or you lose it and get ejected...you eventually learn a form of stabilization...it is OK if it takes a few tries; because it will...

That's why I still like listening to Lumaza and Szaxx...I can barely understand them at times, but that is because they are so close to the leading edge, the event horizon...each trying to describe it in their own way...the rest of us trying to follow, to interpret...

What fun, magical stuff!

Yes I am open to "Baby Steps".
LOL after the events I went trough yesterday (as described above). I can see how this process can take some time to get comfortable with all the new feeling and sensations.

I tried again last night as I was going to bed. And for one reason, or another, I was not able to make it as far. I guess it is all part of the process.

One step forward, two steps back!  sad Yes, unfortunately it "can be" part of the process. It doesn't always have to work that way though.

I found it easier in the beginning when I just jumped into a focus technique and did what it said. Through that I experienced enough to show me that something really was happening and then I was hooked. Although it was a scary moment, it exhilarated me.

My initial success came about after watching a video on "Candle staring". It was simple, whereas now the gentleman who created it has redid it and it has gotten very complexed with all kinds of opinions on what is happening and why. Plus he added energy work, talk of Chakras and a new breathing technique to it. That also made it 2 videos long, part 1 and part 2, instead of just the initial simple 10 minutes total that it used to be on 1 video. But the main focal point (flame staring) still remained the same.

Soon after blowing the candle out and going through many cycles of seeing the flame with my closed eyes, having it disappear, then bringing it back again, I began hearing a rumbling sound. This rumbling sound was soon accompanied by heavy vibrations. It got so loud and so the vibrations so violent that I swore a Helicopter was going to land on my roof. I was hooked though. I couldn't wait to do it again. After that though I never felt the vibrations that bad again or did I hear the sounds so loudly. Well, that's except for the times I was awoken in full SP with people screaming at me. I could have did without those, lol!   shocked

Good Day Travelers!!

I wanted to do an update on this and build from the post above.
The last few times (2 times so far) that I tried to AP before bed it did not end up well... I fell asleep and didn't make it very far LOL.

So... last night I decided to try before bed. I ended up trying for just over an hour, then decided I needed to get some sleep.  cheesy
I was laying there and focusing on being very relaxed and keeping my mind occupied (Counting backwards, also thinking "Mind awake Body Asleep"). I notice that I tend to focus on my heart beat, as I wear ear plugs. Good or Bad?
While I was laying there I didn't end up getting the "tingling" sensations (As i did before) or the "Lead blanket" (I still don't think I have experienced this cry) sensation.

I did get the typical urge to roll and itching which I was able to move past.

But something that happen this time, that didn't happen last time...
I had about 3 or 4 picture pop into my head. When they came in I would focus on them and everything ells seemed to fall away as if I was no longer aware of my breathing, heard beat, my surroundings etc.... then I would realize, that I was focusing on these pictures and try and move past it, and then continue the process.

This happened about 3 or 4 times, but I recall hearing that you need to just let the pictures flow and not focus on them? huh
This seemed like more of the start to a LD. Which I have never fully experienced. cry

Should I have stayed focused on the pictures that flash past?
Was this more of the start of a LD? If so how do I keep that from happening and move to AP? Or should I have just ran with it LOL?

Sorry I am not experienced with this AT ALL. And I have no clue if I am explaining this correctly.
I am just trying to get a feel for the direction I am on, and see if there are any bad habits I should be putting a stop to off the start rather than trying to change them later on.

Once again thank you for the responses that are to come it is greatly appreciated.

This is when you PASSIVELY OBSERVE everything that flashes by with a air of curiosity and stay the course.

It was the beginning of a "shift in consciousness", which is what Astral projection really is. You should have just "ran with it".

OK... Thanks again... Good information.

The reason I had willed myself to loose focus on it was I remember reading or hearing that you should not focus on theses pictures that flash.

From the last two experiences I posted would you say I am heading in the right direction and doing good? Or is there any think you think I am missing?

Okay, I know this is going to sound strange and have you questioning terminology in this practice in general. When I say "passively observe", it means that you just notice or should I say take a mental note of what is occurring. At this point it is your focus because you are visually seeing it, but it isn't your intended "focus target" at the moment. Unless of course you are using what you are seeing as a focus target, like you do in the act of "Noticing", which is something you do when you attempt to Phase. Yes, that still sounds confusing. But I think you understand what I am saying here. Example of this: I am using the action visual of shooting a ball in a hoop. This at the time was my "intended" focus. What you are experiencing is Hypnagogic imagery and that is normally unintended.

You are doing great here. Keep it up. The more you practice, the easier you will find it to control your actions once you have consciously shifted.

WOW... This was AMAZING. Sorry this might be a long one. It happened on two different occasions last night!

FIRTS One!

I was lying in bed yesterday and had a moment where I was alone (the kids were sleeping and the wife was downstairs). I was lying in bed and was feeling very relaxed and peaceful. So I decided to close my eyes for a couple min. I was not intending to project or make it very far, I just saw the opportunity to practice and decided to go for it.

While I was laying there (This happened SO fast) I almost immediately started hearing random little noises.
I did not have earplugs in and the house was not total quiet. I could hear my wife doing stuff in the kitchen. Just wanted to not that there were distractions while I was doing this.
All of a sudden I felt like there was this strong pressure in my head. I started to feel a vibration / tingle between my eye brows and then it started to consume my body, starting in my head. I thought this was supposed to start in your feet??
This sensation got very strong the longer I was experiencing it. This was not overly frightening (i actually quite enjoyed it) and I was able to hold it for what seemed like 2 - 3 min.

I wanted to keep this feeling going but noticed I was focusing 100% on this sensation. So I directed my mind and focused on breathing and counting. Once I re-directed my focus, I ended up feeling a little panic come over me, then I had this sudden urge to swallow (Not the same feeling but the only way I can associate the feeling). In turn it seemed like it was getting harder to breath and I decided to swallow. Which ruined the process LOL.

This is where it got interesting  huh.... Once I swallowed, I did not move at all, I just laid there waiting for the vibration to dissipate.
WOW, this is the cool part. I am not 100% sure how to explain this....

It was almost like as I was laying there feeling the vibrations slow and come to an end. It felt as if the vibrations were coming back into my body. Almost as if they were being sucked out with a vacuum while the process was going on. When I swallowed I could feel them being "lowered/coming" back in to my body while lying on the bed. I feel like I cannot describe this feeling well at all!

Even after the vibrations were gone I had this strange almost "residual" feeling all over the front of by body. Mainly in my arms and legs.
This one, I canít explain the feeling, but it lasted for a few minutes. I also had the feeling of, WOW, that blew my mind for quite some time after.

SECOND one!!

I went to bed about 10:30pm, as I was laying there I was starting to get pretty well the same sensations as I did in the first one.
This time I was laying on my side, trying to go to sleep. My mind just would just NOT shut off (I think it was due to the first experience earlier that night).
At one point the vibrations started to get strong.

Now I need to paint a picture for you on how I was laying... I was laying on my right side, as this is how a normally sleep. My head was sideways and my left hand was palm down (toward the pillow) under my head.

I decided to go with it and all of a sudden I heard a click. Almost exactly like the sound you would get if  you were to crack your knuckles.
At that point as soon as i heard the "click" it felt as if my head fell through my hand!!!!

Has anyone ells felt this or was it all in my head (So to say LOL)?

YES, you were experiencing a shift in consciousness!  smiley. How's that for a confirmation, lol?

Swallowing only ruins your attempt if you believe swallowing ruins your attempt. The same goes with scratching a itch or any other nuisance you may encounter. Just scratch the itch, swallow, etc., then get back to your focus technique again.

One other thing. You can not "Force" this. You need to learn to "allow" it, no matter where it turns or what happens. I know this is pretty extreme, but Tom Campbell once said "That you need to have the mindset that if you don't come back, so be it".  No expectations, just take what you are given. There will be a lot of time afterwards to question what just occurred.

Yes I will admit, I was slightly fearful and I know I need to work on that.
Now that I look back on it, I have not idea why I was scared. New experience, feeling of uncertainty... I know i need to overcome it.

I think I was just more shocked that it actually happened (I thought it would take longer than it did) as i am VERY new to this and only started looking at AP a week ago. I have only practiced 4 - 6 times maybe even less. LOL I think it caught me off guard.

Over all this was the most profound experience in my life. Next to the birth of my children LOL (And I delivered my girl in our downstairs bathroom tongue). And I get how people say, that there is really no way to explain it to someone who has not experienced it.

Almost like the words have not been created, to describe the adventure!!!

Last night before bed I was laying there working on relaxing and APing.

For some reason, I just could not get overly far last night. I got to the point where vibrations were starting abut as soon ans they would start to get stronger. I would tense up mainly the back of my neck and between my shoulders and I would start again.

Please keep in mind I only found out about AP a week and a half ago. Till then I did not OBE was something everyone could do.
I have also only laid down and tried a hand full of times. cheesy

I think there is a little fear from my last experience and I think what happened is I was not prepared for it to happen that quick. I was expecting to have to practice a little more and slowly work toward separation. But when my astral head fell through my physical hand I was soooooo shocked. (Read my post above about this grin)

One more thing. is there a specific order these sensations are supposed to com in... Vibrations, SP (with the "Void"), Vibrations (Again), and the Exit??

Is it possibel to have the SP (A.K.A. Lead Blanket) happen so fast you don't even notice it? I have never really experienced/noticed it "slowly" coming up my body.

I hear some people on you tube saying, vibrations come first then the SP. Lots of posts on here are saying that when you feel the vibrations you know is time to start planning the Exit?

Little bit confused on that? Is there a sticky that breaks it down, that I can read?

Lose all those "expectations" and just experience what you are right now.

When I was new I was met by a Guide, who just happened to be a deceased Brother in Law. He stressed many times over and over again "to just observe". I had so many questions on so many things and in time "most" of those questions were answered. That is the best advise anyone could have given me.

You are excited right now. You feel like a "kid in a candy shop". You have already proven to yourself that what you had already practiced has worked. So don't confuse yourself with all of the many techniques you can find on this Forum and others. Stick to what you are doing. You are doing great. Also make sure you keep a Journal of "everything" that happens, no matter how trivial you think it is. This will help you to see your progress.

 This Sticky will help:
