The closest I have come is a feeling of overall energy wave and total relaxation, followed by REM and seing shdowy figures in my eyes.  That wigged me out so I got up and I was so hyper, I guess from the bottled up energy I never released, it seemed like I was on speed the rest of the day.  odd huh?

From my experience, I can usually get myself so relaxed that I will fall asleep and then snap awake in the beginning stages of separation. But, it's never one continuous stream of conciousness, it's punctuated by a period of light sleep. This will occur maybe 5 times out of 10. So, a fifty percent chance of success. With lucid dreams, I can usually induce them by taking long walks and meditating, then waking up early, going to bed again and laying on my right or left side. If I tell myself, I am going to have a lucid dream, I will have one about 8 out of 10 times. I haven't been able to cross over from a lucid dream to an OBE yet, although I have woken myself up a number of times trying a new method.
As for how long each experience lasts, I find that the OBE's are short, I have once made it across my livingroom and most of the time I am still in my bed trying to get out of my body. So, I am still a newbie at this.
As for the lucid dreams, I can stay focused for quite a long time lately and will have all sorts of adventures for as long as I can sustain them, it's so difficult to judge time when you are in a dream, though. If I had to guess, I would say about 3-5 minutes each.
Hope this information helps you,
Amber
