Yes, I think Dr Edith Fiore does things that way. Check out "The Unquiet Dead" ISBN 0-345-35083-9.

Hypnotising people tends to "open people up" psychically so in effect the hypnotised subject acts as a medium for the "earthbound entities".

There is no guarantee however that the entities who are moved on aren't going to be replaced by others. A better approach is to have a medium help out. Preferably one that works in the area of spirit rescues. One can learn about mediumship in the alt.religion.spiritualism newsgroup.
