Hi Frozen Silence,

At the Spiritual healing and teaching institute where I work we've had a few schizophrenics come through.
More often than not they they have very strong if not profound psychic abilities, and have experienced some amazing things.

There's been one common element with these people that we've seen - they get on a high from their spiritual learning and healings, stop taking their medications then crash very badly and suffer from all sorts of terrible "astral / spiritual attacks" which are very simply their brain's inability to cope with the sudden chemical change.

I cannot stress enough - schizophrenia is a serious neurological imbalance that must be treated by correct and continual administering of neurochemical drugs provided and monitored by medical professionals.

Don't seek spiritual advice for what you've experienced until you are taking proper doses of medication in a stable, well-diciplined manner. Only then will you be able to start dealing with spiritual aspects.

James.

Hi Frozen Silence, i think i might be able to help you out! smiley i have suffered from paranoid schizophrenia for 5 years. i was on Risperdal also, but now i take omega 3-6 along with balanced diet and exercise. I'm still under my doctors supervision and i see her regularly.

as for the voices and hallucinations i have had my fair share believe me, its scary and would never wish it on anyone. have you every tried talking back to them? I'm serious, like tell them who is boss!! no joke your in complete control. my doctor actually told me to try that, and ever since then the voices are almost all gone! i started talking back to them 2 years ago. when i say talk back to them i mean in you mind, not out loud.

i have learned many techniques to combat allot of the symptoms of the illness, maybe you could be PM me and we could talk about this more. if you feel more comfortable talking on the boards no problem! grin

Is there any hope for someone with paranoid schizophrenia?  Ill admit it, I did it to myself.  I used to do a lot of drugs, including meth...  but I havent in two years, due to my condition.

It is not your fault. There is no such thing as drug induced Schizophrenia. But there is a high rate of drug use in Schizophrenics, many are prone to self-medicating. Glad you're not using drugs anymore. I wish you the best and do hope you find some answers to improving your situation. If you're unsatisfied with your treatment, perhaps new medications or doctors are in order.

maybe just give the medication a chance. it could take months to get adjusted to the new meds. as for the voices, i had ones that seem like friends and also ones that were negative. unfortunately for you to be well, both side of the voices need to go, the positive and the negative. i would start shutting them out, they will eventually have nothing left to say. might take a couple years for them to totally go away. try new hobby's and stuff to keep your mind off of them, also concentration methods could help. i developed my own concentration techniques from meditation. try focusing your attention on getting well.

Absolutely get yourself the omega-3 oil. They can be as effective as the synthetic drugs, and without the side effects. Our body needs a ratio of omega-6:omega-3 in at least 1.5:1; in the west we are averaging well over 10:1 (wikipedia). There have been quite a few studies linking this imbalance to all sorts of problems, from depression to Alzheimer's.

Hey Frozen Silence and all

I'm not using drugs, alcohol or anything like that, but i recently have heard some strange voices. I hear those loud and clear but some of them i know are only my imagination like you said too. I don't think you are necessarily schitzophrenic (how is that written?? grin) but become more sensitive to other world like i have. I also write dream journals almost every morning. I have also been suggested to go see some psyciathric etc, but i definitely do know what i have experienced and am quite curious out of it since i believe you and I are not the only ones. Well i can luckily still control well that thing but one night it became overwhelmingly bad... I didn't expect nor waited it at all it just happened.

Frozen Silence,

Schizophrenia has plagued a couple of members of my family. I am no expert on what to do to get well, but would only add a word of encouragement that my dear ones are doing much better and leading fairly normal lives (which some thought would never happen).  They have stuck to a regimen of meds and supplements recommended by their doctors.  Now that their hallucinations (mostly voices) are under control, they have been working on meditation and trying to get in touch with the true inner voice within.  Their meditation experiences are under the watchful eye of their doctors.

I do believe that we can help each other by intercessory prayer, which for me is using creative visualization to picture people healthy and whole.  In fact, I am part of a group of intercessors that lifts up people who need various kinds of healing, and we have seen success.  One of my family members mentioned above has been the object of our prayers.  He seems to be doing far better than the other one, who has a negative opinion on what prayer can do.

With your permission, I would be happy to pray for you.    smiley

ok, ignore this if some one has already said this;

but lets look at it in a scientific point of view(keep in mind i only read to a certain point of your original post) now sleep paralysis is caused by chemicals your brain releases to  paralize you so you don't act out your dreams. this im sure you already knew. but some times your body wakes up while still in this condition, and you hallucinate your dream. so its nothing more than you seeing your dream in the real world. all you gotta do is close your eyes and you will either fully awake, or fall back asleep.

Since you are more then likely already in a deep trance, well most of the time, you hear the voices, but I am more then sure not only are the tone of the voices different, they are also in different places in your head. I'm guessing probably the left side mostly. I know Neruo-Linguistic Programming and Hypnosis, and I have heard all about schizophrenia. One way of getting over your problem now is by altering those voices, which are all created by your brain(no wonder they know how to scare you so much). One method is to make the voices sound sexy or sensual, because saying it like that makes it hilarious instead of frighting. Even as I read your post you have shown me many things. Or if you would prefer, just imagine a knob, that is their volume control, like a amp or a stereo, and turn it down. Your unconscious understands what I am talking about even if you don't really. If there are images, just white them out or make them darker and further away, smaller and smaller until their effects are gone and your no longer feel it.

I know some people think that the mind/body split is a real thing but I am telling  you this as a fact that the mind and body are very connected and therefore if what you are thinking about makes you feel sick, sad, or what else, stop thinking about those things.

Are those really astral projections or dissociations you are having? dissociation can be beneficial if you are smart about ways to use it.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by dissociations.  =\

Anyway, I've been doing good lately.  A friend taught me a meditation technique, and I applied it to my voices.  Basically when a thought enters the mind(or a voice), just label it as a distraction, and let it fade away.  It's been working very well for me, and I've found my voices have reduced in frequency and intensity immensely.  Also, whoever said that I was having such crazy experiences because of switching to a new medicine was right, I think.  My experiences like that stopped a short time afterwards, as I adapted to the new medicine.  The only problem now though, is that I can't remember any of my dreams at all.  =\  Oh well.  Better that, than what was happening before, aye?  =)  I'd also like to say that my sleep paralysis has almost entirely disappearred.  I have it at the most, once a month.  Instead of 3 or 4 times a week like what was happening before.  =)

Anyway, I'd just like to give my gratitude to everyone on this site who has offered their advice and support.  =)

All meditations are hypnotic trances. What I told you to do is EXACTLY the same thing you just described except you are not aware of what you are doing. We represent thoughts with pictures sounds and feelings. The aspects of these representations are known as Sub-modalities. For instance, the size, brightness, location and distance of the pictures effect you differently. Think now of a pleasurable memory and notice how the aspects of the picture, feeling, and sounds are. Are they in black and white, a moving picture or a slideshow? Does the voice come from the front, the side or behind? The tone is sexy, angry, frightening, happy, optimistic. Are the voices really loud or quiet? Where do those feelings start and where does it move to after. Which way does the feeling spin, forwards (from origin through you and out from you and back to origin) or inwards (out of source and into you looping through your body to the origin). What color is the spin?

These are some of the aspect of experience we internalize. A good exercise is to find a spot where it "doesn't matter", ie when you go to a restaurant and are choosing something, doesn't matter. Or whether you where a blue shirt or black shirt. Something that could be or could not be and it doesn't really matter. Then find those pictures and push them way out into the distance and bring them back with the same modalities as the "doesn't matter". do it really fast 7 times in a row and you should have changed the scary  to the doesn't matter.

I won.  Cheesy

8 months without meds, and I've never felt better.   Positive mindset unshakeable?  Check.  Unconditional happiness?  Check.  Negative emotions in check?  Aye.  Cheesy  Voices?  My friends now that I understand what their goal was, and the nature of the lessons.  Cheesy

Greetings,

I can share and relate deeply to your pain, fear and even horror of mental illness. You must not, however, label your self by saying I am a  (name of your illness) no,no you are not your illness you are a person called  (your name).

I am a sufferer of extreme manic depression and at times have got violent and completely psychotic.

I now never say I am a "manic depressive" No "I am Alan" with that problem at present Dont give this enemy life

But thanks to the right doctor and correct medication I am well balanced now andhave not had a serious attack for over ten years

Modern medication for your problem is getting better by the day and some of the newer drugs have almost no side effects

Take Care
