well, I have had the same problem come back quite a few times in the last few years. I try to fight it every time, I say to myself that it won't return the next time but so far it always did. (sorry I don't want to talk about as to what is the problem)
should I: 1) fight it and risk that it returns the next time again
or 2) learn to live with it? It would requie a bit of effort but I can do it.

The answer 2) seems better in terms of spiritual evolution to me, as it agrees with the ever-true rule "let it flow".

What do you think?

umm, it's kind of difficult to answer this without more info, but it seems perhaps you have already made your decision with sticking to #2(no pun intended)?

Any choice you make will be a learning experience. As they say, "experience is something you don't get until just after you need it."

Next time welcome it like an old friend.
Even if it screams and makes horrible faces at you.

Since you return it returns (whatever it is). The solution does not lie in avoidance but in acceptance.
Stand still and observe. Think of it as a test to pass before other things become available.

I kind of agree with Jouni.
Sometimes things come up for a reason- something (an aspect of yourself?) demands attention- this tells me it's telling you to deal with something.  So 'going with the flow' doesn't mean ignoring it or fighting it- but understanding (or seeking to understand it) sounds like what's needed here.
Maybe that's all you need to do.

I think I have already found my answer. I started to live with it and the "problem" doesn't seem as a problem to me anymore.

When you fight it, you validate it. Because it must be very real if you can fight it. Hence the old saying, "If you fight it, you feed it."

If you truly want nothing to do with it, just ignore it, make yourself invisible to it, and it won't have anything to grab hold of.

What do you think?

You say, you have had the 'same problem come back . . .'  In your mind, what is the first thing you notice in any situation before the problem starts?  Your mind is a repetitive thing.  There are things that you have done that benefit you in some way that this 'problem' contains.  In other words, your mind contains a scenario that benefits you and in the scenario, there are actions or other people or things that remind you of the situation that is problematic and your unconscious has to react to what is presented to it.  It does show how well your mind is working, though.  And it shows you that you do have a choice.
You are really giving yourself no option but that the problem returns.  Choice 1) is the same as choice 2).  That seems to be the concensus here.  But, that doesn't help you.
There is more options like what I have suggested, but that only reveals the problem; you say you already know what the problem is; ridding yourself of the problem or living with it is what you are trying to determine.  The reason I say both options are just one, choice 2) includes the return of the problem.  Choice 3) could be riddance of the problem.
Give your Higher self that option and it could change, that is if the problem exist.

Sounds to me like you are dealing with something along the lines of cancer or something else medical.  How you think it will effect you spiritually can be answered probably in many ways.  If my intuition is correct, this would be my advice... both one and two.  Fight whatever you are suffering from if it's something that you don't want to suffer from, but also realize that you will have to live with that fight and take necessary steps to help make your fight easier and more successful.  From the spiritual realm, all the things that make this life hard are all the things that contribute to your spiritual evolution.  Pain and suffering are things that are not felt by the soul.  The soul must inhabit a body, or perhaps many, to feel that which is can know about from not comprehend from experience.  Often growth is accomplished after great struggle, not after great ease.  Jesus encouraged us to "endure till the end".  You may find that the person you want to be might arise because of this struggle that you continue with.
