Illuminati

Not very sure if this has been posted before, but what are your guys' thoughts on the Illuminati?
The Illuminati has been brought up around me since about 2010 or so, not often, but every once in a while, I'll hear about it.
I never really knew about it until tonight when I Googled it. (I thought it was just some dumb belief)

Considering I just found out about it, I might not have the best understanding of it, but from what I've read, it is a group of "elites" that have superior knowledge about.. Well everything. Some people believe they will take over the world (I don't even consider this to be true) but do you think it could have something to do with NPR?

I was recently reading "Frank's Resource" and in it, he spoke about a projection of a Van making a delivery to his local bakery. He walked down the road, and sure enough, there was a van there. This really made me wonder. What are your thoughts? Could the Illuminati be... a real thing or just a thought? Maybe it is us?

The Illuminati were a real group at one time but if they still exist, they surely call themselves something different nowadays. When world domination is the goal, holding on to a name for the sake of tradition that holds an immensely negative stigma, isn't considered prudent.

The original group wanted to fight against superstition, religion and plain old ignorance which they correctly believed were holding the world back. They believed that this could be done with science. Legend says that they became corrupted, as is always the case when rich guys form an elitist group. It's ironic that people think the rich and elite can start any group and not be corrupt from the start but that's a different story.

With such lofty goals, organized religion was bound to take notice and fight them. No one is more capable of "evil" than holy men as Dan Brown said.

There are no reliable records (that I know of) that suggest the group is any older than a couple of hundred years, give or take a decade or two. With so much legend and lore attached to the name though, fiction takes it back to the birth of Christ as some plot from the devil.

Look into Alex Jones. He believes the Bildeberger (SP?) Group and the new world order are their current equivalent. He can make a lot of sense at times but he generally comes across as a raving lunatic and the message gets lost.

I think it's best to "fix" ourselves and leave the big boys to the task of stopping a new world order. I can barely remember which bill is due and when. I don't have much hope in ferreting out and keeping track of global plots. It's hardly even interesting fiction anymore.

 Since we are on this topic here. Does anyone have a link to an article or website that I can find more information on a noted Free Mason of either the 1700 or 1800's that wrote a book describing future events according to the Illuminati? Like for instance he speaks about World War 1 and World War 2 well before their time.

 I briefly read something a couple of months ago about this and wished to find this link/website for a friend of mine.

I think you might be talking about Albert Pike. The prophecies attributed to him were so accurate that I regard it as fiction. They give him too much credit

I like to keep an open mind but his story smells fishy.

The Enigmas of psychical research James H Hyslop 1854. Its in the Harry Houdini collection    part of the library of congress. Its available as an e-book probably free.
 Search the Gutenburg Project and browse for many others.

The book lists many items and many references are made frim well before Christ. Yours may be within. I've read too many books to place this and this one stands out as my first choice.
