Yes I have a great idea.

Start by healing your character from schitzophrenia, it's not very cool...

But character flaws are what makes a good character. The perfect hero might fullfill your fantasies, but no one is perfect. It is the imperfect that makes for interesting stories. I can see this character having great potential and being very interesting.

yeah, i'm not sure if skitsophrenia is that bad actually, some ways of looking at it. it opens doors to things.

i'm still not sure about this. i'm not sure what makes a good sci fi story.
i am thinking of developing this short story in to a short film script. i have the basic concept and things come from there. i'm just not sure what makes it an excelent science fiction.

Twilight Zone is a good source of ideas.  Then of course, you can play the 'what if' game with your characters.  You may need to decide what flaws your characters have and how the events change their viewpoint from 'this' to 'that' or how it makes them evolve.  Otherwise you are doing a 'macro' on an event to give different angles to the reader that they have not thought of before.

write about the people, and let the paranormal stuff just flow into it . . . stories are only popular, at least the fictional stories, if the people are interesting . . . don't go too much into the paranormal, just stick with your characters, and their viewpoints. If you don't know what you want to do with that "flash", then just write about how it affected the two and go from there . . . it's fiction; create your own paranormal. If it doesn't match up with things that are happening in real life, well, it really doesn't have to because, remember, it's just another world . . .

Hey,

I’m trying to write a science fiction short story that deals with paranormal events so I’m trying to expose myself to as many paranormal concepts that I can think of. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The story is starts with these two teenagers who live in an off track train carriage in a post-war aftermath. One of the characters has skitsophrenia and they both witness a “flash” in the sky. Like a star burning out/ black hole... I was thinking this would be paranormal event that effects them in someway, but im not sure what really happens…. Any ideas??

Thanks
Lenny
