Title: Sleep paralysis induction?
Post by: fost500 on December 21, 2004, 08:01:49
Hello everybody and happy christmas to you all.

Here we go. The closest i have ever come to projecting was when I woke up to find I had sleep paralysis, so I took some deep breaths and began to float, but I stopped coz I heard some weird sounds that scared me. I later read that the sounds were my egos, so i was annoyed that I didnt continue. Anyway. I used to get loads of sleep paralysis, but this was before I kenw anything about APing, so I couldnt use it to my advantage, and now that I want it, I hardly ever get it anymore.
So my question is this. Does anyone out there have/know of any techniques which will induce sleep paraysis.

P.S Ive tried the "wake, abck to bed bed method", but I can never get back to sleep again :x

Cheers. Rich

Well?....lol the man asked a question and I wanted to ask the same thing just now, so I decided to better post here and see if anyone knows how to do this?
I myself keep falling asleep all the time and can't get into S.P. so it's very hard to maintain awerness and it totaly wastes time because I keep falling asleep and loosing precios meditation time.
Any tips?

Hey night mist,
Well it doesnt appear that people are very forthcoming with their suggestions, or they havent got any, so i'll share what info i have obtained on the subject, from various sources.

One way to get SP, is when you wake up in the middle of the night, DONT MOVE AT ALL. I know this is really hard, coz for me its almost automatic, I will always change position when i wake up, BUT if you manage to remain completely still and go back to sleep again, you should wake up a couple of minutes later in SP.

Another method (quite tricky) is, when you wake up in the morning, analyse your breathing. I.e how deep is it, how long is the pause between each breath and between each inhalation and exhalation. Make a mental note of this, and when you are next meditating, recreate this sleep breathing pattern. If you do this long enough (around 15minutes), it fools your body into thinking its asleep and so SP arrives, but your mind is still very much awake. Im still working with this method.

Hope this helps.

Rich

The method that best works for me is physical exhausting my body.

A package loading job like fedex or ups part-time will exhaust your physical body and get rid of the extra energy that makes you restless.

I too am having a dry spell now and I think it is because I have a job where i sit all day.

I used to experience wild sp episodes when i was working at marshalls unloading trucks, my body was healthy and i could sleep comfortably because my muscles were tightened from physical excersise and supported my spine and body better.

another thing i want to mention is using alarm clocks, if you come home physically exhausted at night, you can have the alarm clock wake you up ten minutes after you fall asleep, and you should stay up for like 10 minutes after it wake you up(if your eyes dont get shut closed because of the sweetness of sleep), reading a book on your bed or projection platform, because it helps increase focus and clarity of mind while body is still and inactive.

after a short while staying up, its best to go to sleep on your back because it will make the experience more intense since the average person is not used to sleeping on his back.

Sleep paralysis is very scary at night and you should not let it get to you.

in the past in a very scary sp episode i had, their was this entity that sounded exactly like me, standing over my bed yet i can't see it, it was electricuting me, and i felt it go down my spin, i think those were the vibrations and the entity i sensed was a part of me.

and in another episode, their was this creature i felt clinging on my back and also gnawing on my hand.

truly strange isn't it?,

I also recommend fasting which will make you feel lighter, heavy food digestion is not good for practice of ap or sp.

Your scary episodes sounds similar to Robert Monroes in Journeys out of the body. As soon as he seperated, he said some little child/thing, would cling onto his back. Iv experienced voices during sp, but never felt anything interfere with me. Pretty damn weird though.

As rergards fasting, Iv heard that its bad to eat before bed, but its hard to get a balance, so that your not hungry if you attempt ap in the middle of the night. Anyway, thanx for your reply man

I too used to suffer from SP, in fact that was kinda how i found this place (I thought the SP, was a LD, started resarching LD, found out about AP, and here i AM! *tah dah*)

And i too heard a sound, while in SP. it was a sound a screeching, intence howl/scream that would be so intense it would ripple though the air, and it felt like it was electrouctiong me too. Every time i had SP, EVERYTIME! i would wake up, look around, know i was in SP, and then id try to brace myself for the sonic onslaught. I always awoke (sometime i had false awakenings (somtimes up to 4 or 5 times before i really woke up)) breath staggared, like i was being suffocated, i found my pulse racing and gasping for air, not like asthma, but more like holding your breath for a minute or so.
It was terrifing, even though i knew what was going on. Its been a few years since i had this, but its nice to know others, had the sh*t scared out of them too. :D

Can you have a noise wake you up? or do you have to wake up naturally?

I wouldnt like to say. I normally wake up naturally. The thing is with sounds waking you up is that they can startle you, or if its an alarm, you have to move to turn it off, so its prob best if it was a natural wake up

I had the similar experience with you. I thought it could be a body sleep mind awake state, now it seems more like a PS. Instead of hearing strange sound i sensed there was a shadow sitting by my side and approaching.  Sometimes it was someone i know (before i realized it was a false awakening) and his or her face started to distort and morph into something scary looking or sometimes back to the shadow. In China(where i am from) people would call it mongyan(trapped by nightmare) i was told if this happened all i need to do is to shake my head with force then i would really wake up and it worked for me everytime. It's a pity that after i used the head-shaking technique the number of PS lessened greatly.
In China, it's very common to take a nap for 20 or 30 mins at noon time. Our schedule works around it  . My PS normally happens when i over sleep for 1h for my nap.

My best method for getting into SP was sleeping about 2 hours, raising energy into the lower dantien / hara for about half hour, then fall asleep supine with attention fixed on that spot.

Accumulating energy in the hara would increase your chance to get into ASP, which seems to be only a side effect amongst other sings of increased REM power, like seeing more hypnagogics and having an easy way to go into REM-sleep directly.

Upstream, could you explain what this  lower dantien/hara , supine is?

thanks
Title: a site with 30 methods of projection
Post by: redcatherine on January 03, 2005, 22:03:37
Please look at this site :
http://www.whiteoakdesign.com/timekillers/astral/index2.html
and then go to this page on that site :
http://www.whiteoakdesign.com/timekillers/astral/000_mainscreen.html
there are 30 techniques listed there click a link

1. Read the book mate : Robert Bruce 's Astral Dynamics
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1571741437/104-7321178-6508762?v=glance

2. and the site check out new Mastering CD Set with Brian Mercer
http://www.astraldynamics.com/

3. Other Links
http://www.crystalinks.com/astral.html
http://www.astralprojection.ws/phps/topics_techniques.php
http://www.jonasridgeway.com/tech1.html

there are so many methods
find the one for you
this is what i teach newbies :

seek to join or form a closed circle of peers
open with a prayer of protection (ie White Light see vibrations post )
sit in meditation in chairs in the closed circle at 730 pm once a week
eyes closed
palms up
feet bare
limbs uncrossed
always 3 deep cleansing breaths
then begin to breathe naturally
bring your consciousness to the third eye
see yourself as spirit
small and light as air
in this room of your consciousness
behind your third eye
lift your self up from the body
visualise yourself rising up like smoke up to the ceiling
meet the others in the class on the roof
(don't look back to see self in chair btw or open eyes it brings you home to your body try those fun things later once you master the basics )
and follow the leader
then follow your heart when you go alone
then become the leader
when you learn it
share it
teach it
shine

it is much easier to accomplish projection in a group
once you master group projection
going it alone is easy

If you have that down
keep learning
there is always something new to learn
don't ever stop the journey
and become complacent

egin to travel on a group merkaba
it is faster and easier to see and hear then
after you have mastered that
try flying your own merkaba where you will

then open the vortex with your circle
then open it alone
this is as far as i know for now lol

if you are past that then help me to find the next step  :o

BACK TO Basics AP
it is very simple
dont sweat it
OK
Skip the illicit  adult activity innuendo in these lyrics
just  make it your theme song
RELAX-Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Oh oh Wee-ell-Now!

Relax don't do it
When you want to go to it
Relax don't do it
When you want to come
...
...Make making it your intention-ooh yeah
Live those dreams
Scheme those schemes
...
The scene of love
Oh feel it
...
Relax
Higher higher
....
Hey-
Pray

hee hee

Hello Carlos,

In theory, the lower dantien / hara regio is about midway between your navel and @sshole and has the size of your prostate (lool I've imagined that you are Carlos Castenda...ok sorry).

However, in practice (at least for me) it wanders around inside my abdomen. If it is not the Hara then you could find the spot I'm talking about most easily by raising energy through your legs in Robert Bruce style. After some sweep you should feel this spot pulsating.

It seems to me the more quicker you feel the pulsation the more apt is your current state for an OBE but I'm not absolutely sure about this because they are simply too many other factors out there to consider.

For me the word supine means laying on my back.

I may add that being physically exhausted before bedtime help to attain this state. I've done a lot of headstand and they helped a lot too - not just for ASP. But for me it's somehow weird to see someone to pursue this uncomfortable state in its pure form.

Carlos, I hope you are aware that there are easier methods for astral projections just as Catherine has pointed out.

Thanks, Upstream,

It was nice of you to answer my question. I think I understand you now and I will check those sites that redcatherine suggested.
