Title: What is God to You?
Post by: Killa Rican on May 10, 2009, 22:03:19
If you can define Who/What God is By faith or feelings or intuition Can you describe it if he/she/it even Exists? I personally am Agnostic And IF their is a God i think he is Impersonal. Just the same view Einstein had on a Deity. A powerful being that exists and creates but does not get involved or Rarely intervene with Mankind's affairs. Many People may call out his many names in any language of the tongue but he just doesnt get involved nor interests. At least how i think of it.. I do believe in Divine Intervention But of course if such a thing were to Happen like a spectucular miracle of Course everyone would believe in God and it will all be too easy.

So my Vision of God is that I want to have a relationship with "It" I want to see it, i want to experience it, i want to love it, i want to get to know it. But it seems all to impossible because this entity is so distant and far off that our human mind cant comprehend, I dont think it even cares. But doesnt stop me from trying to discover it.

Who is God to you?

To me God is everything, and more.
The visible and invisible, the fact and the principle, what happens and what doesn't happen.
The transcendent and the immanent.

That's it.

God is that which is.

God is consciousness, pure and not yet differentiated into any sort of form.

It "tries on" every form in existence across all time, like you would try on a shirt or pair of shoes.  There is nothing separate from it, simply because to exist apart from it is to not be perceived, because perception IS consciousness.  We are all little fractal "bubbles" of it within its own body, which is all of existence, and we draw our existence from it so it takes a closer look at its own properties.

To me, the word connotates religion, and thus a power hungry mythological figure, enticing one look without rather than within. Sort of like walking along my path, and out jumps a demanding control freak, sugarcoating and fluffing up all its control issues, telling me to bow and scrape so hard I tear up the very fabric of space and time. I'd be too busy worshipping the insecure and jealous being to go along my path, and would basically be in stagnation mode. At the end of the day, a three letter word I can live without.

The source of everything and all is truly impossible for me to comprehend at this point. All I can think of "it" now are local ideas, and I've started to realize it doesn't add up even a tiny little bit.

As I read through ancient texts and compare them with new information, I notice the single, omnipotent god of the Bible was never really omnipotent. It isn't even one entity, but several inhuman entities once known by different names. Their abilities baffled people, and with the rise of monotheism, it was required that only the omnipotent God have these abilities, so when various ancient texts were combined into the Bible, the names of these entities were transcribed as 'God'. (one fine note is that the word 'Elohim' in Genesis refers to an entire race)

I don't blame any unified conspiracy for all this. (although I could be wrong) I think it's just a habit of people to reject, accept, and convert information based on personal agendas. I know it's also the fault of races and entities who want to exploit humanity.

So, to me, the word 'God' is somewhat of a joke

To me...

God is the Aurora Borealis (http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/alaska/images/s/alaska-aurora-borealis.jpg), seriously. At least that's what God looks like to me.

To know God is to be God.

I don't doubt that there many beings that have God-like powers, the ability to create and bend the laws of this physical reality. But the ultimate true source of all things I believe to be beyond that.

At least as far as this existence is concerned I believe God is impersonal. But I do believe there are higher beings that are personal and do want to help others.

So what is God?

God is a ocean, an infinite ocean with many single drops of water. All of the drops of water are the ocean -- the ocean that is God. And every drop of water emanates love, as it is what binds this ocean together as one.

But time and time again a drop of water will evaporate from the sun and turn into something else, a mist which is blown across the sea to land. The mist forms with other mists to find the love it lost, and together they form a river. As a deer runs past the river that same single drop of water splashes out onto the deers back and takes a fun ride experiencing something new.

One day that drop of water becomes lonely for love and returns to the ocean for a time, only to do it all again.

At least that's what God is to me....

To me, God is the unseen force that created and drives the Universe. An energy that we all are connected to and can all interact with. It connects all of us to eachother and to the Universe.

There is no intelligent, omnipresent mind that is God, only the collective consciousness of every living thing in the Universe. WE are God. Every one of us.

I was Christian and then Buddhist and now I don't have a religion. I  just have a strong connection with Shiva. Funny thing is when I was Buddhist Shiva kept popping up everywhere. On websites, on tv. I would hear and read his name all over. Shiva is the main god I pray to now.

To me...

God is an idea.

A story told to primitive civilizations because they can not comprehend the truth.

A term that can be assigned to anything. For example, several strange entities recorded in ancient times had their names turned into 'God' when the writings were transcribed, to better suit monotheism

God to me is the source where we all came from where we all of us belong to where we will be united once we reach that level of higher spiritual development.

Is God the canvas upon which we paint our wants and beliefs?

For me 'God' is not the correct word for creation/existance/divine.

The word 'God' is:

a personification of something that we made to alleviate ourselves of feelings like guilt, so we dont have to fix our mistakes but leave it up to someone else

It was made so we dont feel so alone to have an answer for those things that we, as a race, are not yet able to understand - like the 'why are we here?' question

It was made as a controlling technique  - I beleive many faiths are no longer true to the original ideas and have been manipulated and changed to suit the views and ideals of those in power. God does not necassarily equal their respective faiths anymore

Following on from the why are we here question, is the what should we do question.

Humans do NOT need God to exist - but God NEEDS human

So, no one here thinks god is a single entity?

Only in the sense that 'everything is one'.

Everything being Energy, Matter and Consciousness?
And potentiality.  But essentially, yes.
