Hey everybody. As long as I been doing OBE's I always struggle with this. I had a bunch of OBE's this morning but my recall isn't good. I get out, and it's as "real" as can be. 15 seconds go by and I am in dream world again. I was working on shapeshifting the first time I got out and it kind of worked... I lost awareness right after though. I met up with my grandpa and he was in some garage place with a lot of tools. He loved tools... I was aware for about 5 seconds and the next thing I know I am dreaming of horrible things.

I do look at my hands and raise awareness and it works but I am gonna have to do it about every 5 seconds and keep talking to myself while out I suppose to keep awareness up. It seems super tough for me I fall back into dream land so fast.

Just as the person shaking you and yelling at you (sense of touch and hearing) in order to bring your awareness into this physical reality, we can use the same "technique" to keep our awareness within the non-physical.

What I mean by this is use your 5 senses to REALLY explore your environment. Look at things in minute detail... touch things.... hear the sounds... smell the smells... even taste things! Do this as intensely and with as much focus as you can. This will bring your awareness into the reality you're experiencing and will LOCK it there. This has become my main method as of late and I've been experimenting with it over the last few non-physical experiences I've had. You can read them by clicking on my experiences at the top (or right side) of my website. I've had lucid/astral experiences which have gone on for 30 – 60 minutes doing this.

This is my explanation for it...
What generally happens when we begin to wake up from an experience like this is that the projector will begin to feel their physical body and they'll start to pickup on the sensory input from that physical body. What I explain above causes you to ignore those physical senses and further heightens your non-physical senses which are already active in that reality. Eventually, and if you do it intensely with enough focus, this begins cutting off the physical senses altogether and leaves you experiencing just your non-physical senses and keeps you nice and stable in the non-physical reality.

Xanth thanks so much! I been having SP everynight for 3 days now and its a bummer I never get further than 15 seconds in an OBE without falling back in dream land. I am going to give this a shot! I never focus on my senses much over there because im always so focused on achieving something. I think it's time to just go outside and focus my senses like you said. Really take in everything.

try also rubbing your hands together when you look at them

the tactile plus visual action related to your astral body is a useful "double anchor" instead of the usual single one (by visualisation)

HI I Just posted about this in  the lucid dreaming forum
this dosent work for me it just increases the vividness and makes my dreams more silent  so i carnt realty check   
or my conversations arnt focused. any tips to keep up the realty checking with full awerrness.

It doesn't work for people because they don't put their entire focus upon what they're doing.  It doesn't matter the action that you do, as long as you put 100% of your focus into it.

For example, the act of rubbing your hands together... if you just rub your hands together, it won't do anything.  The act itself is meaningless... it's the sensations which it generates that you must focus entirely upon.  Non-physically rubbing your hands together invokes the sense of touch, sight and sound... make use of them all.   Doing this will lock you into the scene.

It's simply a lack of focus.

I love the hand idea. I'm going to give it a shot. I get so excited, and I don't focus well. I'm like a five year old in a candy store. I also seem to have this odd problem with speed. I either move super fast, or very slow. It's odd.

Yup. Nailed it.

Rubbing your hands together & having a strong intention to go do something. i.e. "I wonder what's up the street? Hmmm, let me go see."

After what Xanth said though, I can see how these things go hand in hand...literally and figuratively.  :-D

Best on staving off the inevitable.  :-P
