Title: Real Audience
Post by: LightBeam on August 15, 2021, 00:52:31
I wonder how many real people review our discussions here vs the bots. If I see that on a one reply topic there are 100 views, how many are the real people. Given that only a handful of us participate on discussions, does all this information fall into the abyss. Is anyone benefiting at all from it. I post not for these handful of people because I know they know what I know, but is it worth our time to continue posting? Is anyone out there listening?

Hi Lightbeam,

I don't post very often but I'm still listening and learning a lot!

Greets,

Erik

Lightbeam, I have asked this question to myself soooooooooooooooooooooooooo many times!

I post often in my Doorway thread. Yet I wonder why? I know how to Phase, yet I am still being "tutored", so I can teach, But teach who?

I see the same topic/threads being viewed over and over again in the "Users Online" section of the Forum. I normally click on it to see what all the interest is about. But many times what I find is that the thread will contain only a few posts and not "Earth shattering" ones either. I know that a huge amount of our traffic here is due to Bots. Also, if you look, it seems those Bots are being actually counted as "New Members" here in the Stats part of the Forum.

According to the current Stats for this month, we have 1965 new members this month already. Where? Page views are 1482223 for this month as of now. Hopefully all those Bots are learning something!  :-P

Oh no, are we feeding with info some AI Sky Net  :-D that will take over Earth in the future due to the given knowledge LOL

Erik, thank you for reassuring us that there are some real people listening. You are welcome to kick back and enjoy.  :-)

Well most of those bots are completely harmless. Many are what are called crawlers. They crawl webpages to ascertain the content for the placement of ads. Some crawl around looking for unsavory language and images that might dissuade the placement of ads or attract sketchy people using the site for 'bad stuff.' So in some form they are spies but not anything to worry over. Most of them look around and report back 'nothing to see here' or 'throw in an antiperspirant ad', lol.

Among the 'guests' are probably some people who have simply forgotten their passwords and or just don't want to sign in.

But you will be happy to note that this little old website is reported to have on the upside of over 600,000 (((unique))) views per year. Those are real views and not bots which are not counted. That's actually pretty dang awesome for a website that
1 sells nothing
2 promotes nothing
3 ask nothing

So YES this website does indeed have a REAL AUDIENCE.

Smile

Thanks for popping in with this, Erik. When mostly people lurk it is good to periodically hear !!

I been wondering this for the longest time. To me forums seem to be kinda dying off. I'm talking about all kinds of forums. Between social media and also discord now it seems to be what most people go with.

I do have discord and it's cool but i only use it like skype. but there are discord servers with thousands of people in astral projection servers. I am not involved with them but I have seen them. They are very active.

the pulse used to be very active with so many different members. I been lurking here since 2011 but I went into the past on the oldest threads on this forum and i think it was 2002... and it felt kinda creepy! lol. I often wonder where those people who posted are now or if they are still even here on earth.

As for the views I don't know. On other forums I will post a topic and right after I post it it says like 7 guests are viewing. And that forum is basically dead... so bots must be a big part of it i would imagine.

If anybody has discord (its like skype) feel free to dm me if you would like to add me :D I think it's mostly for people who are gamers but I also have skype :)

Wow Nameless! I'm impressed!  :-o Where did you learn all of that?

I thought you were kind of in the "computer illiteracy/non technical camp"  that I am in, lol!  :-D That's not a insult. I accept my truths!  :-)

Wow, Nameless, indeed impressive, thank you for pulling these numbers!

Well you are certainly welcome. I am so not tech savvy. I used to be a little bit but that went out the window the last few years as I haven't kept up and what I did know I've all but completely forgotten.

But I have done my share of research. Truth is the numbers I pulled up are totally public and can be pulled up by anyone interested.

Forum boards are where it's at. The rest is a degradation. - three word replies, emojis, GIFs and chatter ( for the most part.

Not to even mention the ads, mental manipulation and separation of people from their own networks.

All that is a pit. A bottomless pit. I do hope people find their way out. ( and back here/home.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't log in often right now. On occasions I check threads with a hot topic as a headline too.  lol.

This place is absolutely awesome.

Naaa forums will never die off them and bultin boards have been around since the internet began and will be here for a long time, Full feature chat rooms on the other hand are not as common as they use to be due to smart phones brain washing people mind.
