Hi Xanth, I used to post here awhile back and I remember you and Stookie being very helpful. Ive read and reread all of Franks post, and found his approach to phasing an excellent resource to start to get a grasp of the concept. However I have never been able to successfully phase myself.

I can lucid dream at will though with the use of rhythm napping, and an mp3 I loaded on my phone. If you dont mind I would love to get your opinion on a couple questions Ive been struggling with.

1. How different in your opinion, since you seem to have some experience with the subject are phasing and lucid dreaming?
2. When you phase do you use a wake back to bed method?
3. Is phasing nothing more than daydreaming, and then using some sort of tactile sensation to fully integrate yourself into the dream scene?

If you are able to answer any of my questions I would really appreciate it Xanth. Phasing in my opinion seems to be a more logical approach than any of the other methods described in out of body books. When I lucid dream Im able to manipulate the enviroment and characters within the dream at will but I know there isnt any real substance to them, and they are all a figment of my imigination. Frank claims to be able to communicate with actual spirits, and carry on complex conversations with them. Its a shame he isnt around anymore. Thanks guys, and good luck.

Thank you for the help Stookie, I greatly appreciate it. I was under the impression that you werent supposed to be actually staring with your physical eyes to bring on the hypnogogic images, but now I see that that is exactly what you're supposed to be doing.

Hello everybody, I have a few questions I would really appreciate some help with. I took some time and read through all of Frank Kepples post starting with his first, and Im interested in learning his phasing approach.

1. Frank and Bruce Moen said that the mental rundown was only a mental primer that got you ready to shift your focus into the astral. So my questions is, is the mental rundown even neccessary then? Ive had some success just counting in my mind to get to the Focus 10 state, or listening to the Hemi Sync Wave track 2.

2. When he says to just look at the 2d blackness behind your eyes, does he actually mean to stare at the 2d blackness until you start getting Hypnogogic images, or does he mean to shutdown your eyes and look within your minds eye like you were imagining something? Ive heard him say the goal is the shift your awareness to your mind so this part is confusing to me.

Thanks guys, and if anyone has any expert advice I would really appreciate it  :-)

There is a great little technique I sometimes use to lower my self to mind awake/body asleep.  This you can practice as many times during the day - and even better, one that actually is effective at night.

Get comfy and relax.  Close your eyes.  Now, every 5 seconds or so open them quickly, only long enough to focus on something then close them.  It's like blinking in reverse.  Your mind doesn't have time to wander but the bizarre thing is you can tumble into trance, and your body relaxes at an incredible rate.  Before long, your eyes are heavy and it's almost a struggle to open them.  You are completely unaware of how deep you are going until you stop opening them (you stop opening them when you feel you could fall asleep).  When you do stop, you feel you are falling into an abyss - it's easy to hold, you are fully alert and it doesn't take forever.  It's a really good starting point for practice and projection.

Hi this is my first post on this forum, but i just wanted to say that this is also the method that i have been using to induce a trance like state. I've never seen anyone else do this anywhere until now. i find that if you do this exercise it will help you reach the mind awake/ body asleep state extremely quick. i also repeat affirmations in my mind such as Im going to have a fully consious projection and what normally happens is i will fall asleep and then wake up an hour or two later and feel the vibrations surging throughout my body, then from there just project however you feel is easiest.  its an extremely reliable technique and i would recomend everyone try this atleast one.
