Welcome to Astral Chat! / Newsletter
November 14, 2008, 15:01:53
Anyone else not receiving their copy of the weekly newsletter? I seem to be having trouble ever since the big wind storm that blew through the midwest US a couple of months ago knocking out the utilities for a week. Our internet was out for the week and I wonder if the result of the email not getting through was seen as a cancelation to the subscription. I'm still missing the 11/9 newsletter if someone would care to forward it to me. I ended up re-subscibing to the newsletter this week so we'll see if I get it this sunday. Thanks

QuoteHonestly though it has never really crossed my mind to ask some one why they are there.......I just talk to them and try to figure it out myself......Now I kinda feel silly.

I never thought of it before either.

It seems I probably need to examine my dreams more closely. Pick them apart noting each feeling and each circumstance. Reflect on the activities of the previous day and see what might relate to my dream. I wonder if, when lucid within a dream, I ask the meaning. Why the person is there. I suppose I'd get the answer. Or are some dreams purely for entertainment purposes?

Welcome to Dreams! / People you know in your dreams
January 30, 2007, 12:43:44
I dream several dreams through the night and only remember bits and pieces of each. Most times they're lucid and every now & then I remember most of one dream. My main question is about the friends and people you know that show up in your dreams. Do you suppose these people have some spiritual connection with you and we're drawn to each other? There are several people I know who show up in my dreams regularly who I don't necessarily see or have any regular contact with. Is there something to learn from/with them? Is that a question I should ask guides or higher self? A couple of people I had a falling-out with but not all who appear in my dreams. Would they still appear if there were ill feelings between us? What would be the reason? Is it dependent on the individual circumstances with each person?

I had a very lucid dream several years ago in which Eddie Van Halen and I were out driving around having fun until Valerie decided it was time for Eddie to go home. We parted ways like old friends. Now, I like his music, have Van Halen CDs, I don't recall even listening to the music anytime during the day, or seeing him on TV. I certainly don't know him or Valerie. While writing this something popped into my head. A buddy of mine from my military days grew up in LA. He and I were best friends back then. He told me once he used to see Van Halen performing at parties in the LA area when he was in High School. A possible connection to 20 years ago? Maybe? Who knows?

What's everyone's views on the original question?

QuoteIt almost sounds like judgement is a type of disease (dis-ease).

It does seem that way doesn't it. Judgement tends to be a barrier to love.

I'd like to make a couple of points. I believe, no, know God exists. He gave us free will which means he allows us to do ANYTHING. Whether perceived as good or evil makes no difference. Mainstream religions view anything outside of acceptable behavior according to their beliefs as evil. To me, by making that judgment would mean they are no longer acting in love. To act in love means to not judge others. That's the big problem I have with religions. Though I'm a professed Christian and attend church at least once a week, I keep my mind open and am learning not to pass judgement on anyone. That's a tough one to nail especially on my commute to work. Having said that, I don't think OBEs are evil and I doubt God thinks so either. This type of activity along with astral projection is no different than a bible study. Just a different method at learning the truth though I suspect more effective than a bible study.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Passion of the Christ
March 02, 2004, 12:02:43
Saw it and I was impressed. It's not all blood and guts. It moves you to think...about what Christ went through. You see flashbacks of different characters that show the humanity of the person that was Jesus. Did you think he didn't do normal human things?

The brutality and extremely violent torture portrayed is surely pretty close to reality as the Romans of that era were not known for humane treatment of its enemies. Everyone is so used to the Christ-on-a-cross-with-fair-skin that Christianity has sugar coated for so long and it makes people uncomfortable. I have no doubt it was at least that gory.

For those that are hung up on the "Jews killed Jesus" issue, The Romans weren't in control, The Jews weren't in control and even Satan was not in control. It's not an issue cause God was in control.

It sounds to me like some people here forgot to open their minds. Of course it's not completely factual, duh. It's a good film that makes you see another point of view. Nobody is thumping their bible trying to convert everyone to Christianity. Mel is telling a story based on the gospels.

I just finished reading Freedom of Choice for the first time and intend to read it again. I liked the book but I don't think I comprehended everything. I did find some confirmation in the book. I feel it explains the Great Intellect (God) and our purpose. I've always kept myself open to the idea that even though I cannot comprehend something, that something still has a possibility. Not understanding something is not a reason to dismiss it. I've been given a new outlook on life. Some things are clearer now.

Curiousgirl,
I forgot all about the library. I've tape/burned a copy from the library a few times myself. I like a wide range of music but everything that seems to hit the airwaves lately I can't stand.

So who's making a monetary profit from this downloading? Who's making the money off this? The advertizers? The RIAA is sure padding their pockets. I'm asking cause I don't know. What I see is the artist makes a little less (1%-2%?) than if the songs weren't downloaded. People share CDs all the time, kids at school, coworkers, online sharing is just another method. The RIAA would probably go after them if they could find a way. Unless I misunderstand I thought copying something for your own use and not for profit was legal. I've not heard of anyone selling their downloads. IMO, it's the greedy  music industry milking every penny they can get. I just can't feel sorry for an artist making millions on their music and whining cause people like it and want to share it. I personally don't download music. I don't like most of the music coming out. They can take that "American Idol" and that "I'm a bada__ because I have these tatoos and I drive a Honda with a coffee can exhaust pipe" crap and shove it. That's not music IMO. Now I like some of Metallica's music (Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, Turn the Page) but I don't own any and I will never buy their music mostly because of the fit they threw. Attn music industry, sales are down because the music sucks not because people are sharing it. People used to tape albums so they could listen to the music in the car. Sharing music is nothing new.

I have followed biblical archaeology for over 10 years (probably closer to 12)and have always been fascinated with archaeology in general. I've been a subsciber to Biblical Archaeological Review, a magazine dedicated to finding physical proof of biblical events, places and people. There is massive amounts of archaeological evidence to support the bible but like mainstream archaeology, it can be subjective and debatable. Conclusions can be drawn from very convincing arguements, both pro and con, to justify a theory. I've read accounts of one archaeologist who, after seeing Jesus in front of him on a dig site, claims to have located the exact site of Christ's crucifiction. The siting of Jesus was witnessed by a local official visiting the archaeologist. Carbon dating is too inaccurate to prove anything, true or false. It only gives a very general ballpark figure. IMO, to simply dismiss the bible as fiction makes no sense.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / The Bible
September 04, 2003, 08:01:11
quote:
Also, it should be noted that at the time of the Reformation several books were removed from the Canon. Martin Luther wanted to also remove The Revelation (not Christ-centered enough) and James (to works-oriented) also but didn't have enough support for that. So for those that argue that the Bible is and always was God's complete and perfect and unalterable word, - you must then ask which canon are you referring to, the one before the Reformation or after. They can't both be perfect and unalterable. So either God allowed his church to use a screwed up version for 1600 years or else he's letting us use a screwed up version now - which is it?

Jesus came to bring truth to the Jewish nation but they were so hung up on their written law that they couldn't accept Jesus' message. Jesus exhorted people to live by the "perfect law of freedom" and to "live by the Spirit" rather than to blindly follow a written law. It is obvious that he wanted people to genuinely seek and relate to God via the Holy Spirit rather than to follow a written law. What is sadly ironic is that today the Christian church has fallen into the same trap all over again, inventing a new written law - the New Testament - and making that their God instead of genuinely seeking God through the Holy Spirit. When Jesus ascended he said that he would send a helper - the Holy Spirit - but he didn't say anything about a new written law. Unfortunately it is our human nature to be scared little bunnies, foolishly clinging onto something we can hold and touch (The Bible) instead of embarking on the less clear, and more challenging path of genuinely seeking God through direct experience - it's the golden calf thing all over again.

I believe the Bible contains valuable spiritual truths, but I like to think of the Bible as a God's workbook and the Holy Spirit as the teacher. When one places the Bible before the Holy Spirit it is a religious "cop-out" that only serves to ensure a spiritual status-quo.

If you took a math class you would use the textbook to learn how to solve problems. You wouldn't just memorize the answers in the back of the book. Unfortunately people treat the Bible differently. They pretend that it contains the exact correct answer for each of life's problems instead of thinking of it as a book that will help them in their approach to life's challenges. When you turn it into a rule book, so lose all of the value and you end up living a life of fearful obedience rather than joyful, spiritual discovery.

RJA,
Excellent explanation. I've also found this to be true. To say that the bible has not been altered is just plain ignorance. God's truth is still there, it hasn't changed but the book has been altered by those with ulterior motives. It can be said that by ommitting information and altering meanings the bible is misleading and is used by satan to lead people into living by the law, afterall, satan can quote scripture. Its possible. Christ came to condem the law cause it was of man and not God.

Allanon, question, If you believe the bible, satan rules over the earth (God gave him dominion) and will continue to do so till the time Christ comes again as stated in Revelation. Why is it so hard to believe that the bible has been altered? Satan is in control of the earth and God has allowed him to deceive and control man.

Mustardseed,
Excellent, you said it better than I could. I've been passing this thread by lately but after reading your comments I wanted to acknowledge a like opinion. I've recently concluded a 2 year study of the bible and context is very important (2 years was not nearly enough time). Just because certain words or phrases are in the bible does not necessarily mean they apply to a given point or arguement, you have to understand the context in which they were used.

You touched on the old/new testement thing, I wanted to expand a little. Though many principals apply, old testement = old thinking/old ways, new testament = new thinking/new ways. Many things in the new testement are rooted in the old. Allanon would rather condem according to the law. While that was the teaching of the old testement, Jesus brought teaching through love in the new. What Allanon fails to realize is that when Christ died, the ways and jewish law of the old died with him sybolized by the curtains of the tabernacle being torn. In the new testement Jesus interprets the ten commandments given in the old testement and tells us how we're to live. Maybe, Allanon, you should study more, just a suggestion.

I'm no scholar and you'll never hear me quoting scripture. Two reasons, satan can quote scripture and it annoys people, so its a waste.

Painted on My Heart
The Cult

I thought you'd be out of my mind
And I'd finally found a way to learn to live without you
I thought it was just a matter of time
Till i had a hundred reasons not to think about you

But it's just not so
And after all this time, i still can't let go

I've still got your face
Painted on my heart
Scrawled upon my soul
Etched upon my memory, baby

I've got your kiss
Still burning on my lips
The touch of my fingertips
This love so deep inside of me, baby

I've tried everything that i can
To get my heart to forget you
But it just can't seem to

I guess it's just no use
In every part of me
Is still a part of you

And I've still got your face
Painted on my heart
Scrawled upon my soul
