That's what I first started doing until I did the boring method one night and succeeded.
I'll try noticing again and see if I can get back into this.
Thanks, Xanth.

I lay down on my back, shut my mind up, focus on nothingness, and try to fall asleep while keeping my mind awake.

For some reason, it just doesn't work now. I can't drift off. I just lay there for ages like a weirdo.
And then when I finally say "this is nerds, it's not happening tonight" I roll over and fall asleep within minutes.

In the way of a discipline?

I'm afraid I don't quite understand the question.
I'll do my best to give you an answer which I think fits.

I've just been doing what I did to project that one night. I don't even come close.
I have had progress recently, but even then, it is very limited progress.

It was much taller than I. If it had a recognizable face of some sort, I would have to look at least 50 degrees vertically to look it in the eye.
I have really been looking forward to another projection in hope to encounter it again. The last couple of nights have seen better results than usual. Vibrations, but they fade away after a short while. Then I give up and go to sleep.
I might start trying after having had some sleep. Every time I have tried, it has been at night, just as I've laid down to sleep. I haven't tried after already getting some rest. So I think I'll give that a shot and see if I get further.

As for that thing I met with during my first projection. Hopefully I meet with it again. But if it was some kind of intelligent entity, then it may be hard to tell if I'm seeing the real thing again, or if I'm just seeing something artificial that has manifested itself from my own expectations and hopes.

Possible, but highly doubtful. I'm not a stressing type.

Hey everyone!
It has been a while since I have visited here.
Hope you have all been well.

Quite a while ago I had my first out-of-body. It was pretty cool at first, everything was bright, even though it was dark. Then out of nowhere, a shapeless, formless "thing" had appeared, darting around the room. I had no idea what it was. I can't even think of a way to explain it. It really was shapeless and formless, nothing was there, but something was there, I could see that there was something. It almost seemed like distorted air. Difficult to picture, I know, I can't put it any better. I didn't react fearfully to it, I wasn't afraid, but I was curious. And as soon as I started to really wonder what it could be, it darted over to me in the blink of an eye. It was right beside me, not doing anything, then it would dart away and straight back again a few moments later. It was almost as if it did have some kind of intelligence and it was curious about me just as I was about it. It suddenly stopped dead on the other side of the room. For roughly 15 seconds I stood there looking at it, and then it vanished. I took a step forward and then awoke in my regular body. My experience had instantly ended, mid-step.

That was months ago now. Ever since then, for reasons I can't explain, I have had little success in this field.

I don't really have a question, but any comments or ideas about what happened, and why I can't project again would be pretty cool :-)

Thanks guys.
Matt.

I wrap a scarf around my head. That keeps my eyes closed and also covers my ears. It actually works awesome for me. Haha ;D

How's everyone?

So check it out, I have only been really trying to project for about 2 weeks at most. But already I get into a slight vibration stage after as little as 5 minutes sometimes. I start to feel like I'm floating, the blackness seems to move around, and sometimes I see stars. Then I usually stop and go to sleep. Just to try to get used to it bit by bit, small steps at a time. Then when I fall asleep, I seem to have very prolonged dreams, they last ages. This has been happening almost every night. I'm just curious.. Am I on the way, or is this all nothing?

I ask because I've read that people try for months or years before they can manage to get anywhere, but I was only doing it for 2 weeks and already I seem to be able to get somewhere every night.

What do you reckon??

Thanks guys.

And I'm the same as you jub jub, I am basically never in a negative state of mind. Maybe sometimes doubtful of being able to control myself in fearful situations, but that's about it. But I think I've figured out why I fear these demonic female types.. It stems from my own belief that a guy should never become aggressive towards a girl, so in my mind, they are really the only ones who can physically harm me and all I could do is accept it. So maybe that's why I fear coming face to face with a Noira (The Ring) type of entity. But someone said something in one of my other posts that has basically taken every worry I had and made them seem foolish. I think I can confidently deal with anything I encounter now. He basically said that he thinks of negative entities as a test he has to pass to have a positive experience, and that to me sounds like a fantastic way of looking at it.

I wanted to add something to all of you that are having negative experiences- consider the neg a test that your subconscious (or higher self, or whatever you like) is giving you, a test that you have to tackle so that you can have more expansive experiences- because if fear happens on the outset, it's going to color all your experiences, as some of you found out.
So Nay, when you want to project, even if you are having negative experiences, consider them an opportunity to look at your own fears (and I know you know this already) and tackle them in an objective way.
If you tackle it instead of avoiding it, eventually they'll stop and they'll go back to being positive experiences.

Firstly I want to thank you all for your comments, but very much to you, CFTraveler, because that is exactly the way I think I need to look at it. It's put my mind at ease 100%. I fear nothing now. And if I do get sudden fearful thoughts, I believe thinking of it this way (as a test) will get me through it very easily. So a big thank you. This is exactly what I needed.

Thanks fellas.
I do have a couple more questions haha. Sorry if you think I'm asking too many, I just want to go in with the highest level of understanding that I possibly can.

I know about how fearful thoughts will create fearful experiences, but what about anger?
For example..

A) How long would a fearful thought have to enter my mind for it to become reality?

B) Say I go in, and I am confronted by something which manifested because I feared it would. My immediate reaction here (as it is in the physical world) will be to wonder why this being is confronting me and making me scared, and then in turn that will do nothing but make me angry at the fact that it's there making me scared. What sort of effect will this create?

I stop the process, because I'm scared of seeing (I know it sounds stupid..) a dead person (think the grudge) standing beside me staring at me

That is almost EXACTLY what I am afraid of, seeing a girl like on The Grudge or The Ring. But in my mind if something like that happened, they would be screaming or making extremely odd noises, and that would definitely be enough terrify me. And that is the only thing holding me back, demons or the unknown don't really induce fear. I'm trying to get over this at the moment though. I got to the vibration state and started seeing stars last night, I also felt like I was floating in the middle of nothing but blackness, but then stopped because I kept imagining that girl. I took my blindfold off and my vision was pretty weird, but I was awake.
At least I know I'm getting somewhere, now I just need to get over the fear of those stupid dead girls :P

Hey guys, I do have another question.
I have no doubt in my mind that I will encounter (at some point, if not during my first projection) a negative entity. I'm not afraid of demons or evil spirits or anything like that, actually quite the opposite, I am quite intrigued and would probably enjoy seeing one. Although my one fear is of demonic looking girls, for example, the girl on The Ring. I would go as far to say that sometimes, the thought of her standing next to me just petrifies me.

So I've heard people mention that it came down to them "fighting" the negative entity away, that it became violent. If anyone has fought or read about a fight, how does it go down?? What exactly happens when it becomes violent??

so which is it?  you read heaps or you don't read much?

I don't really think that's relevant.. But what I meant was that I do not read much, however this which interests and motivates me is an exception.

Thanks to the rest of you. I've brought a few things out of this. I've been practicing as I go to sleep, I won't do that any more.

I've recently decided to give all of this a shot. I've ordered the book Astral Dynamics which should arrive soon, so I'm looking forward to giving that a good read, and I really don't read much, so at least I myself know I'm committed haha. I have read heaps and heaps about all of this, many different opinions and all that. I just have a few questions that I want answered. It might seem like a lot, but I just want to understand as much as I possibly can, and I feel it's better for me to have my own questions answered rather than read other questions answered.

What can I expect from all these different experiences? (i.e. What will I encounter, what will be the biggest challenge, what will it feel/look like during all these different stages??)

I have lucid dreams quite often but I'm not sure I quite understand the method to projection through lucid dreams. Focus on one thing and question it, can anyone expand on that?

Also, sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep and just can't seem to relax. Is this an issue, and how can I combat it?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all in advance.
Matt.
