Forgive me if I'm being totally ignorant here

a small, paradise island with a dirty great big pyramid in the middle is not an unique [snip] 'destination'?

That was, and is, *exactly* my point. "A dirty great Pyramid", and a "Paradise Island"

When Physics plays less of a role (never more!) in the 'reality' of the proposed API, *any* form would be possible, acceptable, and ultimately more 'real'.

Quote
What do you suggest as an alternative - I'm intrigued...

How about a big Purple Orange? :)

As a side 'observation', "Astral Pulse Island" is acronymed to API... yes even by me... and in Computing terms; API == Application Programmer Interface. This is ironic, as an API is designed to make it 'easy' for developers to 'connect' to the 'application'/'source'... but in IT, the specs are defined, and so 'linking' is made easier.

Just an opinion!...

Warm regards,

Geoff

Hi Scorpyn,

All I am expressing is a concern that the 'generic' nature of the API, and its associated 'Landmarks' could easily be 'recognised' in Dreams/Experiences, that are not necessarily related.

A common theme in the API 'experiment' is people reporting that they 'think' they visited, but details of other 'new' landmarks were discounted by other 'visitors'.

It's just an opinion, but the creation of a unique and easily identifiable 'destination' may serve the experiment more effectively.

Kind regards,

Geoff

Quote from: G3MM4A bit too generic really. Imho it all depends on the person, and their life situations (and possibly other factors too) at the time of said dreams.

Bearing in mind the pseudo-mystical inferenceof the pyramid, and the generic "Island Paradise" I would highly recommend a change of venue.

A true experiment would be based on creating something 'New'

Welcome to Dreams! / Grab the air
May 22, 2005, 21:31:04
Just by way of a small "Hello again" I thought I'd post this:

If I'm not sure whether or not I'm dreaming, but kinda know I am, I grab the air, like a ladder or rope, and I can pull myself up.

In this situation, the 'air' is 'solid' and holds me.

Kinda resembles Toffee or Glyceryn.

Warm regards,

Geoff

Hi Tyciol,

The real trick, I beleive, is to learn from every*thing* and not every*one*, and when you're tired of searching, you'll start to learn from yourself :)

A lot of posts for a new member! ;)

I have a simple question Leo:

Do you ever experiment? or just read?

Kindest regards,

Geoff

QuoteI guess this is what you can suspect from people who think they don't need Gurus

I guess so. I make it a point to have my misconceptions explained to me; just so I can judge them for myself.

It's wrong, maybe, to give a beleif as a truth, or offer an experience as a generalisation.

But then at least some people are experimenting, and even in the face of perceived dangers.

After all; How do you know that pricking your finger with a pin hurts? Because you were told? or because you *just had to* do it?

Kind regards,

Geoff

reading is cool.

Well I'm glad you got your help from Leo, and only your second post!

May others be as fortunate as you.

Well Leo,

I shall say only this.

As a living breathing UK resident, born in Australia; I couldn't give a bonk. Sorry, but truthful.

Your own bigotry and prejudice has finally shown itself, unless these posts get deleted (which I truthfully pressume they will)

You have issues my friend. You have some class ideas in your head, but you have real problems expressing them. Open up and let the water run over your conjealed fat!

I am not insulting you; I have to use that same line on myself daily!

bonk knows what this post was about, for some reason I just want to grump-slap you back to yourself!

Quoteperhaps the element necessary to see Sleep Paralysis as a horrifying experience is having had a Nightmare

Nope, forget everything you have ever experienced, and knowing you *once* had full mobility, and now have NONE. That in itself, irrespective of anything else, is scary as hell.

I did say I didn't wish to cross swords.

The reality of any individual is thiers alone, as yours is your own. We each deal with it in our own way, and the brave ask questions.

I beleive that if one has wisdom, knowlege, experience, or even just a perspective, they should be able to communicate it in a way that benefits the reader, and not just themselves.

Back to izthawiz.

Trust yourself. You know what it was you feared, and why you were held there. No matter what it was, you must realize that you arose after that fear. As you will do every time it happens (which I truly hope it doesn't).

Kind regards,

Geoff

A strange Signature to be sure :)

Are you describing a sensation of running in syrup (like the wind around you is thick like glycarine), or a feeling a slowed down inertia (you still put the same force into the action, and so even though it's slowed down, you cannot stop the results)

Kind regards,

Geoff

Not wishing to cross swords here;

I spent a few years of my life with these kinds of nightmares. I truthfully have never fully understood them, because they held a motive/resonance for me.

Sleep paralysis is quite common, as Leo correctly explains. Imagine living physically every dream you have! Your body shuts down.

I would hesitate a guess, and say that until you have experienced Sleep Paralysis, you can never quite understand it. I used to focus on my Big Toe until I could scream for help (in the most laboured of ways) for my Brother to help me.

The sheer fear that sleep Paralysis brings is unbearable; until you realise one simple (and yes almost ridiculous) fact; You CANNOT die.

I actually wish I had the same fear again, strange as it seems. My recent bouts have been filled with such contempt for life that I have explored exactly what Leo says that most people don't.

The most common feeling, if you relax into it, will be a sensation of you arms and legs 'bending' upwards. You'll feel your hands and feet, and the tops of your arms and legs, but the bit in the middle will be like rubber.

And yes, it can be scary.

But you'll live. :)

Kind regards,

Geoff

Hi,

Just to Follow from Jeff's reply, and expand on it a little... are you Ticklish?

If you get on a swing in 'reality', and you swing high and far, how does it make you feel?

If it makes you feel scared, weak, woozy, whatever, that exact visualisation isn't right for you.

The ideas and principles of any form of 'escape' routine is based on the mindset of the individual explaining them.

Rather than 'painting by numbers' and following instructions, try to take the experiences of the things you have read, personalise them, and make them work for you.

After all, there are no 'wrong' answers here!

Kind regards,

Geoff

QuoteFor instance, I had a dream in which a pickup truck full of Redneck Republicans pulled up

You may also wish to avoid personalising and alienating anyone, with comments like these.

I'd be happy to expand off-list.

Geoff

QuoteSo, for all the fighting we did, it turns out that you have the best conceptual picture of what I was trying to communicate.

Well I'm not sure if this is a lesson for you, or me, or both.

Sometimes it serves to explain yourself fully in the beginning.

Sometimes it serves to explain yourself fully at the end.

It always serves to explain yourself clearly.

Geoff
