I feel  it is essential to be well -versed in psychological and psychiatric effects of chemical re-balancing before making sweeping statements about shamanistic solutions and the 'putting down' of modern drugs.. The shaman way was born within shaman cultures/communities. It doesn't always work in modern day western society...unfortunately....just as modern western methods wouldn't work in a shamanastic tribal environment.
Sweeping, self-important statements do not help anyone. It only betrays IGNORANCE  and a need to feel 'important'.
If you pooh-pooh modern drugs, please do some research on how the (either) mentally ill ...or shaman geniuses... were treated in the early 1900s and before. ......  (Shackled in irons in underground dungeons was NOT an answer !!!)
If you haven't walked in the moccasins of another, please don't make sweeping judgements.( It  is dangerous for vulnerable souls who may read and believe  them.)
I believe that the purpose of coming into this life on earth is to create a balance between the pysical and the spiritual.    We are not a body with a spirit. We are a spirit/soul  with a body...here to create balance, learn and evolve. ...and address the Karma of cause  and effect.
But of course i could be very wrong. I honestly don't know.  jo

I'm starting a new topic to let anyone interested know that the incredibly fascinating International Gathering called THE GLASTONBURY SYMPOSIUM is being held in Glastonbury, England 19-21 July 2002.There are additional events leading up to the Symposium from Wednesday 17 to Friday 18th. The Symposium is the largest and longest running world gathering concerning crop circles. I attended one of the first, in the early 1980s, and it was mind blowing. At that time, I was able to enter many of the intricate and extraordinary crop formations. (And entered one of the man-made "hoaxes" also).
In the days leading up to the Crop Circle Symposium, (at which there will be speakers from all over the world by the way), there will be lectures on subjects such as Egyptology, Sacred Geometry, the Kabbalah,Signs of the Times, 2002 Prophecies, Healing, Conspiracies, Past Life Regression and Beyond.
There will also be local crop circle experts acting as tour guides for those who wish to enter inside a crop circle and feel the absolutely awesome energy of these mysterious vortices.
For more info, go to www.glastonburysymposium.co.uk......
For most up-to-date info on the crop formations, go to
  www.swirlednews.com
I personally can't recommend highly enough, this annual event.

Hi there...although I live on the other side of the world from The Monroe Institute (Australia) I have completed 4 courses there and I cannot recommend the Institute highly enough. Every time, all attendees gained more than they expected. The Institute is a non profit organization so is not motivated by money. The trainers are great, facilities are wonderful, the experiences are ' out of this world' and you get the unexpected bonus of mixing with and talking to famous remote viewers such as Skip Atwater (who runs the laboratory thereand was the instigator of the military Stargate Programme) and the U.S's first Pentagon 'Psychic Spy', Joe Mc Moneagle. The people who run The Monroe Institute are highly professional, dedicated and totally caring. The results I achieved in self-realisation and  astral projection(with a fantastic degree of proof/confirmation) were very satisfying. go for it ! Jo.

Ides,  I apologise for my own sweeping statements about people sounding 'self important'. I guess that is exactly how I came across. It is no excuse I know, but I'd just spent a sleepless 24 hours with a loved one who was experiencing the worst torture imaginable through lack of a particular drug that creates a chemical balance. The incredible re-balancing within the brain that the drug provides  is the only thing that offers any semblance of relief for the sufferer. I was, at the time of posting, exhausted and stressed, and  became easily irritated at some statements that were made on the subject. Again,  I am  sorry.
To answer your question, yes, I have seen negs. I have had some hair-raising encounters, particularly when I was heavily into studying Magick years ago, with an offshoot of the Golden Dawn Society in Sydney . But I have also encountered them during exorcisms. ..one in particular being horrific...when a Belgian diplomat residing in Sydney had attended some voodoo ceremonies in Haiti and brought back a few unwelcome 'visitors'.
Also, back on the subject of mixing shaman practices with western ways, I was  stuck  in a car once, whilst travelling thru the Arizona desert at night with a fellow Australian and a Native American elder and his wife, when an owl flew in front of  the windscreen. This was a sign to our hosts that there was the possibilty of something bad lying ahead in our travels. The only incentive  to keep going...we were heading for the Navahoe reservation hospital ...lay inside  a leather pouch kept in the glove box for such emergencies. It contained cornmeal, which was believed to ward off evil spirits and we all had to ingest a tiny bit of this cornmeal before continuing our journey. I totally honoured their beliefs and readily partook of the ritual inside the car, even tho my own personal belief system didn't support the fact that cornmeal could keep us safe. We arrived at the hospital without further ado and I will never know whether we'd have done so, had we not ingested  the cornmeal.  I guess you could say that it was a case of shamanistic practice working successfully for 2 westerners as well as for the elders. So  I apologise too, for not thinking through my own statement that sometimes shamanistic practice doesn't  work for westerners and vice versa. You're right, Ides. Thanks. Jo.

H. I just want to make a comment, with full  respect and best wishes to the writer of the last post, who suggests that as long as you are not hearing voices to do violent crimes, you are not mentally ill or have to see a doctor.
This is a misunderstood perception of mental ill health.
Only 1%  sufferers of mental illness commit violent crimes against others.
Violent crimes are mostly  committed by angry and hurt people who are perfectly sane.
Those afflicted with mental illness are usually quite the opposite...retiring or hiding away into the safety of their imagined reality. Others may commit a violent act by mutilating themselves or committing suicide.
(Just defending those who are unable to defend themselves, okay ? )

I forgot to mention one really important factor re the context of my last message. There is nothing shameful or derogatory about consulting a psychiatrist if you suspect you may suffer any form of mental illness. Schizophrenia and other illnesses are caused, amongst other things, by a chemical imbalance in the brain.   It is a physiological chemical imbalance. ...just as in diabetes, there is an imbalance of insulin. There is nothing wrong or shameful about inheriting such imbalances. The list is long. Endogenous (or clinical) depression is also caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Better to correct the imbalance than to lead a life of teror and persecution.
Just because I have focussed so much on "the other side of the fence" doesn't mean  I am not a whole- hearted believer in  genuine possession and negative psychic influences.  I have witnessed these personally in their most terrifying form.
 Thanks, Jo.

Hi. I don't understand why everyone is over-reacting so strongly to Mr. F's. advice to NEED. It does not matter how wide the variety of advice is  to NEED, surely, i t must all be helpful. Although my entire heritage and upbringing has been  rooted deeply in spiritual and psychic practices, I have discovered that psychiatric illness can cause similar effects to possession and demonic influence.
BECAUSE of my deep-rooted spiritual and psychic beliefs, I put my only sister Christine, through exorcism after exorcism and protection after protection by the best known mediums and exorcists in this country (Australia) , when she began exhibiting symptoms such as NEED  describes. This only caused more and more fear and trauma forChristine. After nothing worked, I finally...brokenheartedly !!!...  agreed to have her 'committed' for psychiatric treatment at a local hospital.
After only a few weeks of treatment, she slowly began to return to her normal self. In the years to come, when she felt she no longer needed to be on her medication, she took herself off it and once again was plunged into the depths of despair, fear, terror and self mutilation. When she went back on to her medication she became a happy, laughing girl who painted stunningly beautiful paintings.
During the years that my sister Christine was ill and in and out of hospital, I cared for my nephew, Joel. I was already caring for 3 children (one boy and two girls) alone. Joel  became my second son. In his teens, he began to exhibit similar symptoms to Christine. Eventually, to cut a very long story short, he too was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He eventually agreed to take medication, whereupon he grew and prospered like never before.
Then, when he was nineteen, he met a self-proclaimed "wise" woman who told him it was wrong to listen to psychiatrists...wrong to take medication. This person convinced him that there was nothing wrong with him at all...that he was hearing "real" spirits talking to him...that he was a shaman and a genius. That he must go off his medication and listen to the guidance of his spirit guides. Joel did this.
The "voices" told him he must kill himself to save the world. Joel lay down on a railway track and was decapitated by a train.
This is not the end of the story. My sister, aged only 39, died 8 weeks later of a broken heart.
And my beautiful son, who was at the peak of a successful  international acting career with a Logie to his name (Australia's equivalent to an Oscar)  inherited this illness, repeatedly cutting his own throat and wrists.
Please remember that I was brought up in an active spiritual/psychic family...both my parents were mediums and healers...my uncle was a materialisation medium (the subject of a book written by my father in 1970 called "The Certainty of Eternity", published by The Hill of Conetent Publishing Company) .
I have lived and worked the spiritual ethos for 62 years....but I realise now, that there IS   such a thing as mental illness which  exhibits similar symptoms and phenomena as 'possession' . And the ONLY cure...in MANY cases...is psychiatric care and medication.Thanks. Jo Buchanan.

Hi Mobius! Yes, as a child, when I was astral travelling, I went to The Park...exactly as you described it. Manicured lawns, fountains of water, rose gardens, marble statues, perfect pathways, bridges across water etc. This went on thru my teen years and adulthood. The most outstanding incident was about fifteen years ago and it WAS "the park" but there was something different about it so I'll try to describe this difference, although I know words will not be enough. I am limited by physical vocabulary to describe it exactly as I experienced it but here goes. It was the same familiar park but it was as if Spring had arrived and the lawns were covered in trees laden with masses of pink blossoms. Not only were all the trees covered in pink, sweet smelling flowers but  all the lawns were strewn with these pink blossoms. Above...everywhere...was an overhanging canopy of pink blossoms, and underfoot, I trod on a thick soft carpet of pink flowers that had fallen from the trees. As well as that, the very air/atmosphere was PINK. I breathed in pink. It was quite indescribable.

I have been vegetarian all my life....have never eaten meat....my parents were vegetarian. They led active spiritual/psychic lives . Mum died 2 weeks ago aged 98. I'm very active and energetic and psychically/spiritually alert and I'm 61 years of age. I'm not saying that's any big deal..there must plenty others the same...just mentioning it for the record, since you asked for contributions to this subject. I don't know what would happen to my system if I ate some meat.

Adrian, thank you so much for transferring some of the images. It makes it easier to "see" what we're talking about. I have access to some stunning formations but have no idea how to transfer them. Do you have access to the Mandelbrot Set formation or any of those other beautiful symmetrical images in the fields? I would so much appreciate it if you would transfer more images to this post. I'm sure it would be enlightening for those who haven't actually seen them. Thanks heaps.

Winged Wolf, the reason the crop formations appear in the summer months is because that is the only time of the year there are crops.

One unsusual thing that happened when I meditated in the centre of a crop circle was that I "lost time". It didn't just happen to me. I was with Palden Jenkins (historian/astrologer/author/cerealogist)and hsi daughter who was then only two years old.  Palden started to do some Tibetan chanting and I just opened to the energy.I can't find the right words to describe what happened but although we weren't aware of it happening, we "lost" nearly 2 hours. Maybe we went to sleep? But we are both sure we didn't....besides, it would have meant Palden's 2 year old must have fallen asleep at the same time. I am not making an outrageous claim here (like being abducted by ETs !!!!!). All I'm saying is that something happened and I don't know how to describe it and also, I don't even know what happened anyway. But it went from being a warm sunny afternoon to being cold and we were all very dazed and it was two hours later. Okay, I know that sounds  wierd but it's true. The following day we re-entered that circle and went into other magnificent formations but it never happened again. We also went inside formations with the philosopher Stanley Messenger which was a great experience but nothing equalled that day when we appeared to lose time.We  also went into a hoax circle...one that was definitely man-made...and the energy was completely different.By the way, if anyone intends to attend the Crop Circle Symposium in Glastonbury in July, Palden is one of the speakers and also one of the tour guides into the crop circles. He is a top expert on this subject matter and loves answering questions.

Daniel, do the serious cerealogists(pardon the pun) still support Colin Andrews' opinions and research?

Hey Adrian ! You pinched my subject matter !!! :) Okay, I just want to add here anyway, that great photos and info can be gained from   www.cropcircleconnector.com,      www.swirlednews.com, www.cropcircles.co.uk and Art Bell  has a page of photos on his website also. (Altho there are other websites out there too).
 Have a great weekend. :)

Only a few formations have been made by human hoaxers, most notably by Doug and Dave, a couple of attention seekers who were laughed out of existence years ago. The rest of the circles and formations remain a mystery. The crop affected by whatever causes the formation has its DNA changed...yet a stalk of grain lying next to it,untouched and unaffected by the cause, does not have its DNA changed. The complexities involved in these enormous formations are mathematically precise and some are larger than the size of four football ovals. Many ancient symbols are reproduced and formations appear overnight in thirty different places at the same time. Thousands of formations have been documented and scientifically tested and scientists are still puzzled and arguing about the identity of the "circle-makers", as they are termed.I personally feel that to get the full effect of these amazing formations, you need to enter inside one. The energy is incredible/timeless. To mention just 2 websites devoted to the phenomenon, containing photos if you're not up to date with the latest, try   www.swirlednews.com   and   www.cropcircleconnector.com. It will soon create doubt in your mind if you still believe they were caused overnight by humans. It's not just the change in the DNA or the symmetry and beauty that is impressive, it is also the coding, the symbology and  the mathematical precision.
An average of 250 crop designs appear per year. It is without doubt, an extraordinary phenomena.

Hi all. Funny to wake up to this post this morning, as only last night I was tossing and turning, wondering how I could raise the money to return to the US  and do Beyond 27...maybe this'll be inspiration to accomplish it. I will get my tapes out today, do some Freeflow or something...I'm a bit behind in the latest "out there"...and report back. Great idea. Love Jo.

At the Monroe Institute, in the Laboratory, Skip Attwater (creator of STARGATE and ex RVer) affixes electrode thingies (sorry...can't remember correct technical terminology)to monitor and record the brain as you are taken to higher/more expanded levels of consciousness through advanced techniques in hemi sync. The results are quite extraordinary. This is a totally scientific process.

Just my tuppence worth....only recently, Joe Mc Moneagle, the USA's most accomplished remote viewer, "found" a Japanese woman live on television simply thru remote viewing. This is only one example of many evidences supplied by Joe.

Mobius. Mate. You just excelled yourself.

Enjoy Monroe's Journeys out of the Body. Of course it won't spoil anything. You'll probably find that your own experience of journeying is quite different from what you read in books anyway. There isn't only "one correct way" to do things. Every way is unique and equally valid. Have fun. The thrill of your first simple projection will be everything you hope for and more.

jo

Yes, it took a while for Monroe to realise that these "people" were actually past/parallel/future aspects of himself.
Mobius, I love your little splashes of wisdom at the tail end of your emails.Do you make them up, or are they projections from a future Confucious aspect of your current self?  :)

Inguma the most profound symbol I have experienced while OOB is similar "symbolically" to what you have drawn. My symbol is repetitive. It is a triangle but instead of seeing the "gateway" or "opening" you have drawn, it was just the centre of the triangle sort of opening up. So your drawing seems to have a representation of what I experience. Each time this happens, I move thru the opening "gateway" inside the triangle. But that's all I can say about it.

This is an interesting topic Violet. Just want to share a sound my daughter had once whilst OOB.Altho it was years ago, she was totally uplifted by it and thought it must "mean" something and she's never forgotten it. But it hasn't eventuated into meaning anything. It was the sound of what seemed like a beautiful heavenly chorus of "angels" singing "Twelve". Just the number Twelve. She said it was totally inspirational.Any ideas what it could be or mean?
