[Urantia Paper 83: Section 8]

  There is a Christian theme flowing through America that marriage is a Christian institution which should be subject to the restrictions that the Bible illustrates.  That somehow marriage is not only sanctioned by God, but the BIBLICAL God, and that America as a whole, regardless of belief, should conform to the doctrines of the Bible when it comes to wedlock.  Indeed, fervent Bible believers believe that "true" marriage BELONGS to them, notwithstanding that it existed long before Christianity itself.  Like many things in fundamental Christianity, revelation is needed to restore the fallacies that humanity has created for itself.  Marriage is among those Christian ideas that must be more closely critiqued.  So....

Urantia Paper 83: Section 8

 Marriage which culminates in the home is indeed man's most exalted institution, but it is essentially human; it should never have been called a sacrament.  The Sethite priests made marriage a religious ritual; but for thousands of years after Eden, mating continued as a purely social and civil institution.  
 The likening of human associations to divine associations is most unfortunate.  The union of husband and wife in the marriage-home relationship is a material function of the mortals of the evolutionary worlds.  True, indeed, much spiritual progress may accrue consequent upon the sincere human efforts of husband and wife progress, but this does not mean that marriage is necessarily sacred.  Spiritual progress is attendant upon sincere application of other avenues of human endeavor.  
 Neither can marriage be truly compared to the relation of the Adjuster to man nor to the fraternity of Christ and His human brethren.  At scarcely any point are such relationships comparable to the association of husband and wife.  And it is most unfortunate that the human misconception of these relationships has produced so much confusion as to the status of marriage.
 It is also unfortunate that certain groups of mortals have conceived of marriage as being consummated by divine action.  Such beliefs lead directly to the concept of the indissolubility of the marital state regardless of circumstances or wishes of the contracting parties.  But the very fact of marriage dissolution itself indicates that Deity is not a conjoining party to such unions.  If God has once joined any two things or persons together, they will remain thus joined until such a time as the divine will decrees their separation.  But, regarding marriage, which is a human institution, who shall presume to sit in judgement, to say which marriages are unions that might be approved by the universe supervisors in contrast to those which are purely human in nature and origin?
 Nevertheless, there is an ideal of marriage on the spheres on high.  On the capital of each local system the Material Sons and Daughters of God do portray the height of the ideals of the union of man and woman in the bonds of marriage and for the purpose of procreating and rearing offspring.  After all, the ideal mortal marriage is humanly sacred.  

 Marriage always has been and still is man's supreme dream of temporal ideality.  Though this beautiful dream is seldom realized in its entirety, it endures as a glorious ideal, ever luring progressing mankind on to greater strivings for human happiness.  But young men and women should be taught something of the realities of marriage before they are plunged into the exacting demands of the interassociations of family life; youthful idealization should be tempered with some degree of premarital disillusionment.  
 The youthful idealization of marriage should not, however, be discouraged; such dreams are the visualization of the future goal of family life.  This attitude is both stimulating and helpful providing it does not produce an insensitivity to the realization of the practical and commonplace requirements of marriage and subsequent family life.  
 The ideals of marriage have made great progress in recent times; among some peoples woman enjoys practically equal rights with her consort.  In concept, at least, the family is becoming a loyal partnership of rearing offspring, accompanied by sexual fidelity.  But even this newer version of marriage need not presume to swing so far to the extreme as to confer mutual monopoly of all personality and individuality.  Marriage is not just and individualistic ideal; it is the evolving social partnership, existing and functioning under the current mores, restricted by the taboos, and enforced by the laws and regulations of society.
 Twentieth-century marriages stand high in comparison with those of past ages, notwithstanding that the home institution is now undergoing a serious testing because of the problems so suddenly thrust up the social organization by the precipitate augmentation of woman's liberties, rights so long denied her in the tardy evolution of the mores of past generations.

From "A Course in Miracles":

 Being afraid seems to be involuntary; something beyond your own control.  Yet I have said already that only constructive acts should be involuntary.  My control can take over everything that does not matter, while my guidance can direct everything that does, if you so choose.  Fear cannot be controlled by me, but it can be self-controlled.  Fear prevents me from giving you my control.  The presence of fear shows that you have raised body thoughts to the level of the mind.  This removes them from my control, and makes you feel personally responsible for them.  This is an obvious confusion of levels.

 I do not foster level confusion, but you must choose to correct it.  You would not excuse insane behavior on your part by saying you could not help it.  Why should you condone insane thinking?  There is a confusion here that you would do well to look at clearly.  You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think.  The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice.  What you do comes from what you think.  You cannot separate yourself from the truth by "giving'' autonomy to behavior.  This is controlled by me automatically as soon as you place what you think under my guidance.  Whenever you are afraid, it is a sure sign that you have allowed your mind to miscreate and have not allowed me to guide it.

 It is pointless to believe that controlling the outcome of misthought can result in healing.  When you are fearful, you have chosen wrongly.  That is why you feel responsible for it.  You must change your mind, not  your behavior, and this is a matter of willingness.  You do not need guidance except at the mind level.  Correction belongs only at the level where change is possible.  Change does not mean anything at the symptom level, where it cannot work.  

 The correction of fear is your responsibility.  When you ask for release from fear, you are implying that it is not.  You should ask, instead, for help in the conditions that have brought the fear about.  These conditions always entail a willingness to be separate.  At that level you can help it.  You are much too tolerant of mind wandering, and are passively condoning your minds miscreations.  The particular result does not matter, but the fundamental error does.  The correction is always the same.  Before you choose to do anything, ask me if your choice is in accord with mine.  If you are sure that it is, there will be no fear.

 Fear is always a sign of strain, arising whenever what you want conflicts with what you do.  This situation arises in two ways: First, you can choose to do conflicting things, either simultaneously or successively.  This produces consistent behavior, but entails great strain.  Second, you can behave as you think you should, but without entirely wanting to do so.  This produces consistent behavior, but entails great strain.  In both cases, the mind and the behavior are out of accord, resulting in a situation in which are you doing what you do not wholly want to do.  This arouses a sense of coercion that usually produces rage, and projection is likely to follow.  Whenever there is fear, it is because you have not made up your mind. Your mind is therefor split, and your behavior inevitably becomes erratic.  Correcting at the behavioral level can excrement the error from the first to the second type, but will not obliterate the fear.

 It is possible to reach a state in which you bring your mind under my guidance without conscious effort, but this implies a willingness that you have not yet developed.  The Holy Spirit cannot ask more than you are willing to do.  The strength to do comes from your undivided decision.  There is no strain in doings God's Will as soon as you recognize that it is also your own.  The lesson here is quite simple, but particularly apt to be overlooked.  I will therefor repeat it, urging you to listen.  Only your mind can produce fear.  It does so whenever it is conflicted in what it wants, producing inevitable strain because wanting and doing are discordant.  This can be corrected only by accepting a unified goal.  

 The first corrective step in undoing the error is to know first that the conflict is an expression of fear.  Say to yourself that you must somehow have chosen not to love, or the fear could not have arisen.  Then the whole process of correction becomes nothing more than a series of pragmatic steps in the larger process of accepting the Atonement as the remedy.  These steps may be summarized in this way:

Know first that this is fear.
Fear arises from lack of love.
The only remedy for lack of love is perfect love.
Perfect love is the Atonement.

 I have emphasized that the miracle, or the expression of Atonement, is always a sign of respect FROM the worthy TO the worthy.  The recognition of this worth is reestablished by the Atonement.  It is obvious, then, that when you are afraid, you have placed yourself in a position where you need Atonement.  You have done something loveless, having chosen without love.  This is precisely the situation for which the Atonement was offered.  The need for the remedy inspired its establishment.  As long as you recognize only the need for the remedy, you will remain fearful.  However, as soon as you accept the remedy, you have abolished the fear.  This is how true healing occurs.

 Everyone experiences fear.  Yet it would take very little right thinking to realize why fear occurs.  Few appreciate the real power of the mind, and no one remains fully aware of it at all time.  However, if you hope to spare yourself from fear there are some thing you must realize, and realize fully.  The mind is very powerful, and never loses it creative force.  It never sleeps.  Every instant it is creating.  It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains.  It appears at first glance that to believe such power about yourself is arrogant, but that is not the real reason you do not believe it.  You prefer to believe that your thoughts cannot exert real influence because you are actually afraid of them.  This may allay awareness of the guilt, but at the cost of perceiving the mind as impotent.  If you believe that what you think of is ineffectual you may cease to be afraid of it, but you are hardly likely to respect it.  There are no idle thoughts.  All thinking produces form at some level.

  It's a key ingredient to any major religious belief.  For any church to maintain members those members have to adherently believe that that is in fact the religion that speaks of the most truth.  Therefore much of what might be said here might also apply to other religions, because the tool does work in them all.  But Mormons have something of a unique style when it comes to indoctrinating their youth.  One which amounts to little more than brainwashing. 
  It is most unfortunate that this applies directly to the youngest and most innocent of Mormons, those children born to devoutly Mormon parents.  Every first Sunday of each month the LDS practice a "fast Sunday".  On this Sunday, rather than the typical service in which members have been chosen the prior week to speak, the entire "ward" is open to standing in front of the congregation and spending a few minutes "revealing their testimony" about the truth of the church.  The typical testimony is something like: "I'd like to bare my testimony that I know this church is true.  I know that Joseph Smith was the true prophet of the church, and that the Book of Mormon is a true revelation of Jesus Christ".  Then there's a bit of "I love my family" and "my faith has blessed me", then "in the name of Jesus Christ, amen", and another is free to go up and say something of similar nature. 
  In any one of these meetings you're also likely to witness very, VERY young children also revealing their testimony.  They are, of course, accompanied by their parents, sometimes because they're too small to walk up themselves.  The child's mommy will then lean down, and whisper in their ear what to say.  It's the same generic speech.  "I know the church is true.  I know Joseph Smith was the true prophet", etc.  But it's this proclamation of "knowledge" that makes it so difficult to convince older members of the fallacies in their beliefs.
  In these instances, we see children that are far too young to read, some even having difficulty pronouncing basic words because of their age, but they are being forced, by those they love and trust, to profess, in front of a full audience, that they already possess the knowledge that the church they are all there for is true.  There are at the very least some credentials for requirement to be able to profess this certainty.  Knowing precisely who Joseph Smith is, and what he has done, for starters.  Many of these children in fact can tell you nothing about the prophet they just confessed belief in.  Having read the Book of Mormon might help validate actual knowledge about your church.  Many of these children are quite far from being able to read the Book of Mormon, let alone question the theology behind its teachings.  None the less, their parents make them tell peers and strangers that they possess just such knowledge though lacking any true UNDERSTANDING of what that entails. 
  It becomes truly tragic when children are then so early on so confused about what it really is to have justifiable "knowledge" about something.  Ultimately this forced testifying causes great denial about most other things they will come to learn in the future.  As they grow into young adults, and eventually adults, they continue to maintain this testimony about "knowing" the church is true, even though they can't justifiably reconcile the evidence against it.  Our understanding of DNA can no longer be trusted, because it contradicts the first thing you "knew".  Archeology becomes obsolete, for we can not depend on what we ACTUALLY discover about the cultures alleged in the book of Mormon.  Even their very own much needed "testimony" loses its own validity, for there are a significant number of testimonies against their sacred prophet from men and women who knew him, which must of course be denied. 
  If all these "tests" are passed, and you are able to maintain your faith amidst a mountain of counter evidence, then you'll find yourself a fully indoctrinated Mormon.  One who, after only a short conversation with an educated theologian, or even another Christian familiar with the Bible, is only able to rely on the testimony that they "know" that their church is true, and they shall find no other foundation to rest their footing.  In a last act of desperation, when, say, a missionary is so torn down, they will simply rest on the first, root indoctrination that they were taught: that they "know" something they cannot validate or vindicate.  Then, when the mission is over, they will run home, marry the first woman that will say yes, and have young children that they can "teach" the same cyclical nonsense they were also force fed in their own youth. 

The Urantia Revelations- Paper 149:Section 6

   It was at Gamala, during the evening conference, that Philip said to Jesus: "Master, why is it that the Scriptures instruct us to 'fear the Lord,' while you would have us look to the Father in heaven without fear?  How are we to harmonize these teachings?"  And Jesus replied to Philip, saying:

   "My children, I am not surprised that you ask such questions.  In the beginning it was only through fear that man could learn reverence, but I have come to reveal the Father's love so that you will be attracted to the worship of the Eternal by the drawing of a son's affectionate recognition and reciprocation of the Father's profound, perfect love.  I would deliver you from the bondage of driving yourselves through slavish fear to the irksome service of a jealous and wrathful King-God.  I would instruct you in the Father's relationship of God and man so that you may be joyfully led into that sublime and supernal free worship of a loving, just, and merciful Father-God.
   "The 'fear of the Lord' has had different meanings in the successive ages, coming up from fear, through anguish and dread, to awe and reverence.  And now from reverence I would lead you up, through recognition, realization, and appreciation, to LOVE.  When man recognizes only the works of God, he is led to fear the Supreme; but when man begins to understand and experience the personality and character of the living God, he is led increasingly to love such a good and perfect, universal and eternal Father.  And it is just this changing of the relation of man to God that constitutes the mission of the Son of Man on Earth.
   "Intelligent children do not fear their father in order that they may receive good gifts from his hand; but having already received the abundance of good things bestowed by the dictates of the father's affection for his sons and daughters, these much loved children are led to love their father in responsible recognition and appreciation of such munificent beneficence.  The goodness of God leads to repentance; the beneficence of God leads to service; the mercy of God leads to salvation; while the love of God leads to intelligent and freehearted worship.
   "Your forbears feared God because he was mighty and mysterious.  You shall adore him because he is magnificent in love, plenteous in mercy, and glorious in truth.  The power of god engenders fear in the heart of man, but the nobility and righteousness of his personality beget reverence, love, and willing worship.  A dutiful and affectionate son does not fear or dread even a mighty and noble father.  I have come into the world to put love in the place of fear, joy in the place of sorrow, confidence in the place of dread, loving service and appreciative worship in the place of slavish bondage and meaningless ceremonies.  It is still true of those who sit in darkness that 'the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.'  But when the light has more fully come, the sons of God are led to praise the Infinite for what he IS rather than to fear him for what he DOES. 
   "When children are young and unthinking, they must necessarily be admonished to honor their parents; but when they grow older and become more appreciative of the benefits of the parental ministry and protection, they are led up, through understanding respect and increasing affection, to that level of experience where they actually love their parents for what they are more than for what they have done.  The father naturally loves his child, but the child must develop his love for the father from the fear of what the father can do, through awe, dread, dependence, and reverence, to the appreciative and affectionate regard of love.
   "You have been taught that you should 'fear God and keep his commandments, for that is the whole duty of man.'  But I have come to give you a new and higher commandment.  I would teach you to 'love God and learn to do his will, for that is the highest privilege of the liberated sons of God.'  Your fathers were taught to 'fear God- the Almighty King.'  I teach you 'love God,-the all-merciful Father'.
   "In the kingdom of heaven, which I have come to declare, there is no high and mighty king; this kingdom is a divine family.  The universally recognized and unreservedly worshiped center and head of this far-flung brotherhood of intelligent beings is my Father and your Father.  I am his Son, and you are also his sons.  Therefore it is eternally true that you and I are brethren in the heavenly estate, and all the more so since we have become brethren in the flesh of the earthly life.  Cease, then, to fear God as a king or serve him as a master; learn to reverence him as the Creator; honor the Father of your spirit youth; love him as a merciful defender; and ultimately worship him as the loving and all-wise Father of your more mature and spiritual realization and appreciation.
   "Out of your wrong concepts of the Father in heaven grow your false ideas of humility and springs much of your hypocrisy.  Man may be a worm of the dust by nature and origin, but when he becomes indwelt by my Father's spirit, that man becomes divine in his destiny.  The bestowal spirit of my Father will surely return to the divine source and universe level of origin, and the human soul of mortal man which shall have become the reborn child of this indwelling spirit shall certainly ascend with the divine spirit to the very presence of the eternal Father.
   "Humility, indeed, becomes mortal man who receives all these gifts from the Father in heaven, albeit there is a divine dignity attached to all such faith candidates for the eternal ascent of the heavenly kingdom.  The meaningless and menial practices of an ostentatious and false humility are incompatible with the appreciation of the source of your salvation and the recognition of the destiny of your spirit-born souls.  Humility before God is altogether appropriate in the depths of your hearts; meekness before men is commendable; but the hypocrisy of self-conscious and attention craving humility is childish and unworthy of the enlightened sons of the kingdom.
   "You do well to be meek before God and self controlled before men, but let your meekness be of spiritual origin and not the self-deceptive display of a self-conscious sense of self-righteous superiority.  The prophet spoke advisedly when he said, 'Walk humbly with God,' for, while the Father in heaven is the Infinite and the Eternal, he also dwells 'with him who is of a contrite mind and a humble spirit.'  My Father disdains pride, loathes hypocrisy, and abhors iniquity.  And it was to emphasize the value of sincerity and perfect trust in the loving support and faithful guidance of the heavenly Father that I have so often referred to the little child as illustrative of the attitude of mind and the response of spirit which are so essential to the entrance of mortal man into the spirit realities of the kingdom of heaven.
   "Well did the prophet Jeremiah describe many mortals when he said: 'You are near God in the mouth but far from him in the heart.'  And have you not also read that direful warning of the prophet who said: 'The priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money.  At the same time they profess piety and proclaim that the Lord is with them.'  Have you not been well warned against those who 'speak peace to their neighbors when mischief is in their hearts,' those who 'flatter with the lips while the heart is given to double-dealing'?  Of all the sorrows of a trusting man, none are so terrible as to be 'wounded in the house of a trusted friend.'" 

That's all there is to it!

   Well, there's a couple new movies scheduled to be released that depict exciting battles between humans and aliens. But in classic disappointment Hollywood has completely exaggerated actual incidents to create fear and earn money. The newest is the movie "LA 1942". For those who don't know, here's an overview...
  In 1942 near a military base in Las Angeles a group of UFO's appeared and hovered in clear sight of thousands. The military was dispersed believing we were under some interstellar attack, and ultimately thousands of rounds were fired at the objects. The objects did not appear to be struck by any of the rounds, and did not fire any weaponry back at the American military. When the firing stopped the craft left.
  Fast forward 70 years. Hollywood has made bank off off lieing about and recreating alien encounters from that time forward. In "Fire in the sky" aliens kidnap Travis Walton for a week before releasing him back to Earth. In Travis' 5 day depiction of the event in the book he wrote he talks about gentle beings, star maps, being shown around their craft and meeting others like him. In the movie, Travis nearly escapes death from the craft, but not before hideous creatures capture him and torture him with prods and needles in his eyeballs. Steven Spieldbergs "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is probably a more accurate depiction of past contact with military, but fictional none the less.
  Now, in the movie preview of "1942", we witness the return of those same aliens to get revenge on Earth after the LA incident. The preview shows humanity uniting together against the evil races of ET's and their technology to save Earth from certain annihilation. Alright, so this could be entertaining. Ten bucks says it's in 3D. Explosions, special effects, I get it. But we got a real problem here...
  Hollywood is using actual incidents, changing the entire story about what actually occured about them, and releasing them to the public in a way that fosters fear and hate towards the possibility of open contact. Although UFO sightings have become a mainstream event, and the public at large is just waiting for acknowledgement, most of them are unaware of the deep level of contact Earth is already having. Most who see this movie will only be told BY the movie itself that this is based on actual events. Then by the time the audience leaves the theatre, not thinking contact will ever happen, they are unknowingly psyched up for interstellar conflict.
  Rational minds descend. Don't be swayed into thinking that entertainment is reality. Naming a movie after an actual event and then changing the actual event itself in the movie, knowing that most don't know about the incident in the first place and will only learn what they are being told by the film, can be a slippery slope to go down. Understand the entertainment value of the special effects, but don't interpret them as guidelines for conduct when contact becomes a global realization. Don't let the fear placed in you by horror movies overwhelm the actual potential that open disclosure and global ET contact will bring us. For contact to be a successful achievement the human race needs to meet our interstellar neighbors with peace and acceptance. Don't allow the pursuit of wealth and popular belief to blur that goal.

   Hello again everyone. I haven't been on for a while and I am so happy to see all the new posts. But it's not suprising. Once again I feel compelled to express the potential that this generation has. Contact is happening, and every day more and more people are witnessing their crafts and spectacles. In this wonderful age of worldwide, instant information access we're able to see that even though the million dollar medias like CNN and Fox"news" don't report the events, every day local newspapers from across the country report sightings.
  The numbers are growing and the evidence is getting much stronger. Video footage from regular people is seen all over the world before government officials even know that such footage exists. Even the refusal of the scientific community to look into the phenomenon can be arguably bias and unscientific. So I'd like to welcome everone, young and old alike, into the 21st century. With our current technology at the beginning of this new millenia, it appears that if we embrace the evidence and testimonies for the truth that they hold and let go of what we are expected to believe, alien contact and integration might be just around the corner. For so many centuries the "common" idea about aliens was that they didn't exist. Earth was the most precious gem of life in all the universe, and even the sun revolved around it.
  Then a greater understanding of the cosmos emerged through Galileo and other astronomers with the help of new inventions. Quickly the realization occurred that the universe was too big and comlicated, though simultaneousl beautiful and ordered, for even our imaginations to conjure up. The notion that WE are the only life out there became more than unlikely, but highly improbable. They say that nothing is impossible, yet for us to be the only intelligent life in the universe, even galaxy, with our limited but blossoming understanding of it does borderline the impossible.
  However it's still highly unaccepted that such intelligent life is currently aware of and in contact with our planet on this very day, and yesterday, and long before that. For reasons I can theorize but don't quite understand, this secrecy is leaking out and they are showing themselves with their crafts, but something is missing that is needed for a completely open contact between the planetary beings. I think that a critical component could be our own pre-acceptance of the reality. Most people in their busy lives don't take an interest in the alien phenomenon. Experiences aren't rare, but it usually takes one yourself to become interested in the vast others that are out there, so it's difficult to plant the seeds of curiosity in someone who hasn't thought much of it.
  Hollywood movies have taught them to anticipate a major occurance in a single day. The world wakes up and every person has a view of some kind of a alien craft. But if they were to do the research they would understand that these things have happened, and the truth behind them has been both unearthed and highly lied about. There are two very different sides to the stories, but the events speak for themselves. Almost everyone has heard of the Phoenix lights of 1997. In 1942 the US military opened fire on UFO's in L.A. Reality has always been stranger than fiction.
  For us to have contact with the aliens that are visibly showing their presence among us, we need to prepare ourselves for the reality of it, and send the invitation. An immediate and abrubt contact event would create upheaval in a lot of cities. Fear combined with confusion and preconcieved ideas about whats going to happen would do more to weaken the potential than strengthen it. Easing us into the process has taken decades of work, because most of the incredible and undeniable evidence, like video and pictures, have intentionally been kept from the public. If the truth about UFO events were told openly as they occured the world would have accepted ET visitation by this point.
  It's a strugglesome road to get the truth out. But gotten out it has, and enough has been published and accounted for on a mass scale that it cannot be brasenly denied. Intelligence and reason are enough to understand the greater picture of whats going on if they were only given the information. But we cannot create the desire in others, and some are very fearful of what others are so hopeful of. If our own society began to embrace the UFO encounters as a message of presence without inferferance, then it could open them up to looking deeper into what other evidence their is. They'll find there is enough to eventually convince anyone who is open to learning that their presence cannot be denied.
  It's not an if or a when. It's now. Open up to the possibility of what lies in your own skies, that you can see with your own eyes, if you just continue to look. When the majority of the population accepts that this is really happening, then there will be no more reason for the truth to be hidden from them. You can't hide what has already been found. And with the knowledge that the human race has embraced their presence and only awaits their contact, contact will indeed be made.
  It's entirely possible that some of our children will grow up with the knowledge of aliens amongst them in society or on the news, without even a second thought as to why it's so astonishing to us. But it's not a one way road of waiting. We have the tools to make contact happen by preparing ourselves for WHEN contact happens. Educate yourself, and welcome to the New Paradigm!

Christianity has indeed done a great service for this world, but what is now most needed is Jesus.  The world needs to see Jesus living again on earth in the experience of spirit-born mortals who effectively reveal the Master to all men.  It is futile to talk about a revival of primitive Christianity; you must go forward from where you find yourselves.  Modern culture must become spiritually baptized in a new revelation of Jesus' life and illuminated with a new understanding of his gospel of eternal salvation.  And when Jesus becomes thus lifted up, he will draw all men to himself.  Jesus' disciples should be more than conquerors, even overflowing sources of inspiration and enhanced living to all men.  Religion is only an exalted humanism until it is made divine by the discovery of the reality of the presence of God in personal experience.
The beauty and sublimity, the humanity and divinity, the simplicity and uniqueness, of Jesus' life on Earth present such a striking and appealing picture of man-saving and God-revealing that the theologians and philosophers of all time should be effectively restrained from daring to form creeds or create theological systems of spiritual bondage out of such a transcendental bestowal of God in the for of man.  In Jesus the universe produced a mortal man in whom the spirit of love triumphed over the material handicaps of time and overcame the fact of physical origin.
Ever be in mind - God and men need each other.  They are mutually necessary to the full and final attainment of eternal personality experience in the divine destiny of universe finality. 
"The kingdom of God is within you" was probably the greatest pronouncement Jesus ever made, next to the declaration that his Father is a living and loving spirit.
In winning souls for the Master, it is not the first mile of compulsion, duty, or convention that will transform man and his world, but rather the second mile of free service and liberty-loving devotion that betokens the Jesusonian guidance toward the higher and divine goal of mortal existence.  Christianity even now willingly goes the first mile, but mankind languishes and stumbles along in moral darkness because there are so few genuine second-milers - so few professed followers of Jesus who really live and love as he taught his disciples to live and love and serve.
The call to the adventure of building a new and transformed human society by means of the spiritual rebirth of Jesus' brotherhood of the kingdom should thrill all who believe in him as men have not been stirred since the days when they walked about on earth as his companions in the flesh.
No social system or political regime which denies the reality of God can contribute in any constructive and lasting manner to the advancement of human civilization.  But Christianity, as it is subdivided and secularized today, presents the greatest single obstacle to its further advancement; especially is this true concerning the Orient.

Ecclesiasticism is at once and forever incompatible with that living faith, growing spirit, and firsthand experience of the faith-comrades of Jesus in the brotherhood of man in the spiritual association of the kingdom of heaven.  The praiseworthy desire to preserve traditions of past achievement often leads to the defense of outgrown systems of worship.  The well-meant desire to foster ancient thought systems effectually prevents the sponsoring of new and adequate means and methods designed to satisfy the spiritual longings of the expanding and advancing minds of modern men.  Likewise, the Christian churches of the twentieth century stand as great, but wholly unconscious obstacles to the immediate advance of the real gospel - the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.
Many earnest person who would gladly yield loyalty to the Christ of the gospel find it very difficult enthusiastically to support a church which exhibits so little of the spirit of his life and teachings, and which they have been erroneously taught he founded.  Jesus did not found the so-called Christian church, but he has, in every manner consistent with his nature, fostered it as the best existent exponent of his lifework on earth. 
If the Christian church would only dare to espouse the Master's program, thousands of apparently indifferent youths would rush forward to enlist in such a spiritual undertaking, and they would not hesitate to go all the way through with this great adventure.
Christianity is seriously confronted with the doom embodied in one of its own slogans: "A house divided against itself cannot stand".  The non-Christian world will hardly capitulate to a sect-divided Christendom.  The living Jesus is the only hope of a possible unification of Christianity.  The true church - the Jesus brotherhood - is invisible, spiritual, and is characterized by unity, not by uniformity.  Uniformity is the earmark of the physical world of mechanistic nature.  Spiritual unity is the fruit of faith union with the living Jesus.  The visible church should refuse longer to handicap the progress of the invisible and spiritual brotherhood of the kingdom of God.  And this brotherhood is destined to become a living organism in contrast to an institutionalized social organization.  It may well utilize such social organizations, but it must not be supplanted by them.
But the Christianity of even the twentieth century must not be despised.  It is the product of the combined moral genius of the God-knowing men of many races during many ages, and it has truly been one of the greatest powers for good on earth, and therefore no man should lightly regard it, notwithstanding its inherent and acquired defects.  Christianity still contrives to move the minds of reflective men and mighty moral emotions.
But there is no excuse for the involvement of the church in commerce and politics; such unholy alliances are a flagrant betrayal of the Master.  And the genuine lovers of truth will be slow to forget that this powerful institutionalized church has often dared to smother newborn faith and persecute truth bearers who chanced to appear in unorthodox raiment.
It is all too true that such a church would not have survived unless there had been men in the world who preferred such a style of worship.  Many spiritually indolent souls crave an ancient and authoritative religion of ritual and sacred traditions.  Human evolution and spiritual progress are hardly sufficient to enable all men to dispense with religious authority.  And the invisible brotherhood of the kingdom may well include these family groups of various social and temperamental classes if they are only willing to become truly spirit-led sons God.  But in this brotherhood of Jesus there is no place for sectarian rivalry, group bitterness, nor assertions of moral superiority and spiritual infallibility.
These various groupings of Christians may serve to accommodate numerous different types of would-be believers among the various peoples of Western civilization, but such division of Christendom presents a graves weakness when it attempts to carry the gospel of Jesus to Oriental peoples.  These people do not yet understand that there is a religion of Jesus separate, and somewhat apart, from Christianity, which has more and more become a religion about Jesus. 
The great hope of earth lies in the possibility of a new revelations of Jesus with a new and enlarged presentation of his saving message which would spiritually unite in loving service the numerous families of his present-day professed followers.
Even secular education could help in this great spiritual renaissance of it would pay more attention to the work of teaching youth how to engage in life planning and character progression.  The purpose of all education should be to foster and further the supreme purpose of life, the development of a majestic and well-balanced personality.  There is great need for the teaching of moral discipline in the place of so much self-gratification.  Upon such a foundation religion may contribute its spiritual incentive to the enlargement and enrichment of mortal life, even to the security and enhancement of life eternal.
Christianity is an extemporalized religion, and therefore must it operate in low gear.  High-gear spiritual performances must await the new revelation and the more general acceptance of the real religion of Jesus.  But Christianity is a mighty religion, seeing that the commonplace disciples of a crucified carpenter set in motion those teachings which conquered the Roman world in three hundred years and then went on to triumph over the barbarians who overthrew Rome.  This same Christianity conquered- absorbed and exalted- the whole stream of Hebrew theology and Greek philosophy.  And then when this Christian religion became comatose for more than a thousand years as a result of an overdose of mysteries and paganism, it resurrected itself and virtually reconquered the whole Western world.  Christianity contains enough of Jesus' teachings to immortalize it.
If Christianity could only grasp more of Jesus' teachings, it could do so much more in helping modern man to solve his new and increasingly complex problems. 
Christianity suffers under a great handicap because it has become identified in the minds of all the world as a part of the social system, the industrial life, and the moral standards of Western civilization; and thus has Christianity unwittingly seemed to sponsor a society which staggers under the guilt of tolerating science without idealism, politics without principles, wealth without work, pleasure without restraint, knowledge without character, power without conscience, and industry without morality.
The hope of modern Christianity is that it should cease to sponsor the social systems and industrial policies of Western civilization while it humbly bows itself before the cross is so valiantly extols, there to learn anew from Jesus of Nazareth the greatest truths moral man can ever hear - the living gospel of the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man.

I just read a post that had a little to do with this topic and it got me thinking a little bit more.  I'm just curious how many believe this idea.  Plainly stated it's the idea that everything in existence is created from energy, and thought itself is pure energy.  So by thinking about something enough you actually draw that reality into your life.  The problem here is that it sounds like wishful thinking.  It is a hopeful message, but something that might just be used to encourage someone down on their luck.  What do you have to say to people that actually practice this idea and find themselves still empty handed?  The validation for this thinking is that you will see the fruites of your labors.  If you participate correctly you should see results.  For you believers, what would you then say to those who would argue against it?  That wishful thinking gets nowhere and thinking about something is only important as long as it's followed by action, and without that there is no creation?

I guess it's hard to be interested in such thing when they are thought of as fiction. That just means it's working. One of the most interesting phenomenon that the mind offers us is discriptions of abductions. Often they remain in the confidential files of their psychiatrists, who unfortunately all too often try to fix the problem instead of realizing it as an actual event. I am inspired to post this plea because I have just finished, for the second time, the "Conversation w/God" series. Of course if you've read it you know what I am referring to, but I encourage every to read or re read this conversation. I am specifically greatly moved by the third book, which teaches about universal truth. And also, of the condition our planet is currently in with regards to our beliefs. I am not really sure where to go with this other than to state some important facts that I thought were relevent. The first one is this, WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME. The human race in at a critical point in our evolution when we could be gone, along with Earth, on any given day. The reason this is such a problem is not that it is a reality, but because we as a society whole are doing little to try to stop that from happening. As a society we know that there is a lot going on in the world, and that these things are causing a negative impact on everything and every species as a whole. We just expect someone else to change these things for us. That's often where we look to God. Know this, God is real and loving and all those things that have been revered about Him/Her. But God will not save us. God will not stop us from making our choices based on our free will, and that includes the choices that a few may to destroy everything they know. I am speaking here of our government officials. We are currently at war, obviously, but it shows no signs of stopping. For 8 years our nation has been fighting an ever expensive and increasingly useless war under the down syndrome chief and commander over it all. Quite literally, a room full of very powerful and very rich individuals have the capabilies to destroy the entire human race, along with all the other species that MAY be alive at that time. Alternate energy sources have been discovered and proven to work more effectively then we as a "common" society would believe. Our government officials have kept them from us at the detriment of our own planet because they make hundreds of millions of dollars doing it. Their mentality is that they must hourd the resources that they have control over us with so that their relatively small and elite society can continue to prosper at the detriment of all others but them. These are known facts. This is information that has been released by good people working against blind greed. Our world is absolutely falling apart, and it must be heard that the "people" (research that) we "elect" (votes don't matter) are not going to do anything to save it. We, as a human RACE, not as a government institution, are the Steward's for this planet Earth, and we are doing a terrible job at this point. We are the only species that has the capacity to destroy or save all other species on our home world. This is not the job of zoo keepers and national park rangers. It is the responsibility of all of as a species, or until then, at least americans, to step up, recognize that THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING, and choose to fix now what may be irrepairable in the near future. So now, right now, without war or malice, but for the reason that we see with clear eyes how this harm we are causing is anything but benefitial to us as a planet and we need to begin to start carring for the "species-system". I know its whats been said countless times by countless people. But I am emplouring all, do not ignore whats happening in our life times. I am not about to tell us all how to do this. Those answers are definately out there. There our many books and researchers we could listen to with advice on how to stop what we are doing and begin to bring naure and man back into harmony to benefit eachother as they were meant to. Our main area for change, with this year as the perfect opportunity, lies within our government. We have given awa our freedom as a society in exchange for security, and now the government, whether you want to believe so or not, has an iron grip on every decision we now make. Mainly, the decisions we make mean nothing any more. It's the decision of the government officials, who have only become that way by being incredibly, grossly wealthy, what the representation of America will look like. Some will say that it is democracy and we have chosen these people to make these decisions for us because they have a better understanding of government issues. I tell you, we do not choose them, they choose eachother. They are most of them related. We're on our second President George Bush (no coincidence), almost our second President Clinton (no coincidence), and then they themselves get to choose their subordinates. We have lost our free will. This is the worst America has ever been, because now more than ever we are a becoming a dictatorship. So, what are we going to do about it? Well, we need people to take stands. Our government greatly values technology, and our society has made it our religion. Yet they do not stop what is happening when given the evidence that the planet is quickly dieing because of them. So, if they won't listen to reason about what is best for us as a species and planet, not them as a super power, then they should no longer be allowed to steward over us. So now, live freely, in defiance if you must. More than protests, and certainly not riots, but simple action. Pot is illigal, but growing hemp would completely negate the need to cut down and replant any trees or rainforests. It would make the strongest paper, ropes, clothes, and the list goes on. But if it were legalized government officials would lose millions APON millions of dollars from their investments in the profit of lumbering and forest degredation, not to mention all the money they get from every person they arrest for this "crime". So, grow hemp yourself. Use it for the purposes it was intended to be used and show the government that we don't need them to make our decisions for us about what is BEST for us. If you are in a position of authority at your work, use it. Use it to the advantage of the whole human race. If you are a surgeon and someone isn't covered for their insurance for life saving surgery, do it for free. Just do it, no quesions asked, no charges applied. Soon the government will begin to lose money in all the investments they have in the quickly expanding and ever more expensive medical industry. If you are a judge, please, stop being so harsh and flippant with the freedom and lives with innocent people who are making choices for themselves in contrast to what YOU believe to be the norm in society. You have no rights in this matter. We are in the world, but not of it. It's time to show that we can be governed naturally and freely without the eye of "big brother". It's not hard, but it's dangerous. Much is to be risked, but more if we do nothing at all. Simply live the live that you desire to live. Share with others your skills free of charge. Give eachother your money and possessions to show that there is enough, and that the "money game" can be over. Do drugs if you wish, and if you don't, don't. I was wondering if anyone can help me out on this next step concerning OOBE experiences.  I have had many lucid dreams in an OOB attempt.  Others have just been random.  I have become very comfortable in this state and can fly and phase through objects now with ease.  But I would ultimately like to achieve an OOBE.  I know some have gone from a lucid dream to an OOBE, but I don't know how to wrap my mind around it.  How do I phase out of a lucid dream without simply waking up?

  Hola all.  Just got back from Chichen-Itza, which many of you I am sure have heard of or seen.  For those that haven't, it is the capital city of the Ancient Maya civilizations.  To say the very least, these people were incredibly intelligent, diligent, athletic, artistic, etc, etc.  We sometimes forget to give credit to what mankind has accomplished with just their bare hands and imagination.  Works of wonder without technology or outside influence to hinder their beliefs. 
  I could go on for pages upon pages about how beautiful and creative everything was.  How surreal it is to stand in an ancient sports arena and uable to fathom how many countless were killed where you stood.  But this is the internet, and that information is attainable (though there's no teacher like experience). I would like to address the 2012 Maya thing.  I don't know a great deal about "demon wars", but there is something to be said about this year for the sole reason that the Maya ended their far more accurate calander on this year.  They were very precise when it came to predicting eclipses and astronomical events, and coordinated their beliefs around them.  From their temple structures to their rituals, nothing the Maya did was done without purpose.  That idea should logically transfer over to their most prized understanding, the calander. 
  Reflecting on the Maya beliefs I think an astrological event is more likely than something as unpredictable as earthquakes or volcanoes.  There are the "Planet X" theories that support something like this may be a regular occurance (astrological time), being responsible for Earthly events like "the great flood" and the ice age.  Why they stopped at this year could mean it's the next time that such an occurance would take place and that it would symbolized the end of an era and the beginning anew. 
  However, finally, using the Occam's Razor form of reasoning, the simplest solution is probably the correct one.  For simplisities sake, perhaps the Maya just had to leave.  Currently the most accepted anthropology explanation is that the soil could no longer produce crops and migrating was key.  Maybe there Maya "astronomers" whos task it was to create the calander for the next few thousand years.  Unfortunately for them, by the time they got to the year 2012 the Maya migration was occuring and they just couldn't continue their observations any longer.  Or maybe the only guy who knew how to predict astronomical events just died, and 2012 was his last entry. 
  Whatever the case, January 1, 2013 will be the beginning of an interesting year.

Look, I am LDS, I have read the scriptures, and know the teachings of the church.  Fact of the matter is, I think it's time to stop taking all of the scriptures literally.  They are judgemental, close minded, separatist and fearful.... all the things that God isn't.  It's time to start thinking for yourselves, and not blindly trusting what the leaders of the   church tells you is "the way", just because it's their way.  Forget not that some of these leaders are in fact thieves, cheaters, and sexual deviants.  Probably less than 1%, but it's flawed just as any other religion is, and if you don't open your eyes to the way things really are then you will always be in the dark.  If there is a scripture that just doesn't feel right to you... DON'T LIVE BY IT!  Don't fear hell or damnation from our loving and all knowing Lord, it won't come.  Let Him show you the way.  Know this, all humans make mistakes, and all leaders are but human!

I need help with something folks.  I have become extremely adept at lucid dreaming.  I can wake up every morning earlier than I need to, and within seconds transfer from awake to dreaming, and watch it happen.  I'm lucid the whole time.  I have conquered strange fears using lucid dreaming.  I have tried strange excrement, I'm sure you know, and can could outfly superman if I had wished... but I can't for the life of me figure out how to phase from a lucid dream into a real time OOBE.  I have learned to go from dreaming to lucid, but I don't understand what kind of mentality or dream actions are necessary to go form lucidity to consciousness without completely waking up.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  I have "astral consciousness", so I'll check that out, but I know the experience is the best teacher, so anyone have any methods that haven't been discussed in great detail in the popular books?

A great book.  The first in the Vampire Chronicles, the second being "Interview with a Vampire", which many of you know has become a well known movie.  The first book is by far the best in the series.  If you liked "Interview", you'll love "The Vampire Lestat".

We are in the book review section, and this one is my all time favorite.  Fiction, not spiritual in nature, but extremely well written and inspiring.  Plus it was a New York Times best seller.  It's an easy read and very entertaining.
