Hey everyone, I'm back again with another question. I think I might have finally done it, even if it only lasted a mere twenty seconds! However, I'm having a bit of trouble discerning between whether or not I actually did succeed in leaving my body, or if I just experienced an extremely realistic lucid dream. Let me give you the details.

I had an alarm set for 2:30 am, because this time frame seems to work the best for me when I'm trying to AP. I had my headphones plugged into my phone and was listening to a relaxing video, but forgot to remove them and ended up not hearing my alarm go off, despite all the reminders I gave myself to take them out. I woke up at about 4:30, and realized that I had probably missed my chance, but I decided that because I was already up I would try anyways. I was lying on my side (My usual sleeping position) when my mind began to wander, and I found myself in a dream in which I was staring at my reflection in a pool of water. Behind me there was another pool filled with what appeared to be lava. For some reason I felt compelled to stick my head into the water, and crouched down to do so, when I fell in. Suddenly I felt as if I had woken up and my body was floating in water. I very slowly rotated to my left and fell off the side of my bed, thinking that my physical body had hit the floor. Everything was dark, so I decided not to look back at my bed and instead crawled to my bedroom door, and sat for a moment. Then, a split second later I was lying in bed, staring up at my nightstand and feeling extremely confused. Hadn't I just been sitting by my door? It took me about two minutes to figure out what had happened, and I came to the conclusion that I had either finally had an OBE, or experienced a very realistic lucid dream.

Could anyone possibly assist me in solving this mystery? I could probably give you more details if what I have written above isn't enough. Thank you so much in advance, and I am very grateful for how helpful everyone on this site had been!

Hey everyone, Equinox here and I'm new to this site but not to astral projection. I've been attempting to AP for at least eight months now, and have had little luck. I've tried a number of different techniques and have spent countless hours browsing forums such as this one to try and dig up a method I can use to have an out of body experience. I am seriously beginning to feel that all of my efforts have been in vain, and that I might never be able to AP. I'm nearly positive my problem is that I can never seem to induce sleep paralysis, no matter how clear my mind is or how relaxed I am. I've had a few experiences where I was almost certain that I was paralyzed, only to attempt to leave my body and find that I could move my physical body effortlessly. Two nights ago I believe I came the closest I've ever been to having an OBE, and even experienced a feeling that is very difficult to describe, but I haven't felt it for a great number of years. I'm not sure what triggers it or why I suddenly began experiencing it again, but it felt like my entire consciousness had shifted to a point somewhere above my body and had been contained in a swirling sphere of some sort, if that makes any sense... Suddenly, something happened to me that had never happened when I was younger. The sphere that I had now apparently become grew at an alarming rate, until it was absolutely massive, and shot upwards at impossible speeds, far away from... well, everything. I felt like I was no longer even in our universe. At this point I thought I might have somehow done it, and decided to try and leave my body, which I could still clearly feel. I slowly sat up, and.... I was still in my body.

I'm going to be completely honest here, after this I just felt so defeated and unmotivated, and couldn't go to sleep the rest of the night. I felt like I had been so, so close... I guess not. Can someone please explain to me why my body is refusing to enter a state of paralysis, even when I am totally relaxed, clear minded and even feeling the supposed "tingles" that everyone feels when they are paralyzed? Also, can someone please explain to me the shifted consciousness feeling? As stated above, any help is greatly appreciated, and thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
