This happens almost everytime I meditate:
It usually happens when I am in a very deep state of meditation (just regular "focus on the breath type meditation) but has happened when I am in not so deep of a state of meditation. Anyway, I begin to feel the right side of my neck being "pulled" to the right. Sometimes it is subtle, sometimes very very strong.
There have been times when it has been so strong where I feel as if my neck is being completely pulled from my shoulders (though it is NOT painful). I feel as if my neck is being pulled to the right and then up a but, so that my chin is being wrenched up and to the right also. Odd part is.....when I open my eyes I am sitting straight up and my chin is NOT yanked or pointing up and to the right, although I would SWEAR that my body actually twisted in such a manner.
There have been times where I just "go with it" and my neck area seems to do a 180, where I almost feel as if my head has been twisted and I would swear that if I opened my eyes I would be upside down....but alas, I open my eyes and am siting perfectly upright.
Would this have something to do with my throat chakra? Is it "blocked" or "overstimulated"?? I know that chakra has a lot to do with faith and creativity and such. I am a very devout Orthodox Christian (NOT fundamentalist though) and I am an avid musician. Maybe that with help the understanding.
Any clues or input would be most appreciated!
Peace.

So this happens about once or twice a month:
I will wake up suddenly and I feel the bed slightly shaking, or rather rocking (kinda side to side-like). Being that I live in California, we have quite a bit of earthquakes. So most of the time I write it off as an earthquake (though nothing else in the room seems to be "moving" or "shaking"). Anyway, the rocking or shaking is really subtle, but enough for me to recognize that shaking is happening. Within moments of me waking up and recognizing this, the movement stops. I always go onto the USGS website and check to see if there was indeed a quake during this event, and ONLY ONCE has there been a quake. Odd.
Sooooo......
Would you say that I am feeling the "vibes" (possibly as my body was returning or about to leave)??
Thanks for any input!
Peace.

I have experienced sleep paralysis about a dozen times in my lifetime. It used to scare the hell outta me until I started understanding what was really going on. I also know now that sleep paralysis is a prime opportunity for an OBE or astral projection (so I've been told and have read on these here boards).
So last night, after about 20 minutes int o my sleep, I kinda wake up and realize I'm in sleep paralysis....can't move a muscle but I'm awake enough to know it. After a brief panic, I calm myself down and focus my mind on my 3rd eye point (my eyes are closed). I immediately feel as though my body is speeding head first into the darkness. I begin to see purple/violet flashes of light. Odd geometric shapes (all symmetrical) begin to "speed past" me as I move forward at great speeds. Then the sudden roar of wind fills my ears. Very loud but not deafening. It seems to be swirling around me. I can hear my breathing speed up and I hear it very loudly. My eyes are still closed. The wind continues to roar. My body moving forward still and feeling very very light. I panic for a moment and think about my body lying in bed and I totally come back and am full awake. I open my eyes, still seeing symmetrical geometric shapes outlined with violet. And as I lied there in my bed with eyes open, my body felt like it was on a boat - rocking steadily from the left then to the right then back and forth again and again til it slowly stopped. The left side of my body (the side I was laying on) felt rather cold. I actually felt great awe and pleasure after it was all said and done.
Any feedback on what I experienced!?
Now about the winds....these were the "astral winds" correct? Does hearing these winds necessarily mean that you are leaving the body?
Thanks much.

Quote from: JonathanYou can pretty much interpret the bible to mean anything:)

Um, that's not really true. Yes there are some places of vagueness (the Book of Revelation for one), but in matters of core Christian doctrine, there is absolutely no question as to what it means.

I will try not to be too graphic...
When I am in meditation, 9 times out of 10 I begin to, um, get like a "half-erection". Ususally about 15-20 minutes into a good meditation, my groin area (scrotum more specifically) begins to tingle and I then get a minor erection (which usually lasts anywhere from 10-20 minutes). What would cause this? I don't know as much about chakras as I should, but would it have something to do with the chakra in that area?
I know this is a wierd post, but I am very curious as to why something like this happens. Thanks so very much.
Peace to all.

Not sure what category this belongs under...just wanted to share and experience...

I am 1/4 Native American and am currently working on finding out more about my geneology and roots with regard to my American Indian blood. I thought it would be intriguing to try to "visit" an Native "gathering".
I put on some Native drum music, volume low. I closed my eyes. Brought myself to a quiet calm viz slow breathing. I began to see the "3 dimensional blackness". I began to picture myself sitting before a fire, surrounded by Indians dancing and singing all around me as I sat by the fire. I just kept thinking of being there. The sounds. The air. The fire. The sights.
I am guessing maybe about 15 minutes into it I began to feel very different. A "heaviness" set in and I was deeply into a meditative state. My ears began to get very cold (like I was outside?) and a dim reddish color was in teh center of the blackness. The red color began to get more red and more clear with every second. Was this the fire I was envisioning? Was I about to find myself in the midst of what I was envisioning??
I chickened out. I go too excited in the moment.
I have heard of people doing similiar things, acting scenarios in envisioned worlds and places. What do you all think!?
It was very interesting and I hope to get further next time!
Cheers.

1. I have heard that one can have an OBE or astrally project during sleep and not remember it? Is this possible? I often wake up suddenly in the middle of the night feeling my "insides"/body trembling and have this weird sense that "something just happened".
2. Also, do sounds ALWAYS accompany OBE/projection (some say they hear loud winds, etc)???
#8
This happens about 1-2 times per week...
I awaken from my sleep all of the sudden (usually within 10-30 minutes of falling asleep) and my "insides" (not my skin) are "vibrating", usually centered around my heart area, but I can feel it mostly throughout my torso and a bit in my extremities. Something always wakes me up, usually a sound in my mind that I hear in my sleep and is gone when I wake.
Last night I woke up after hearing what sounded like a horn beeping loud like when a large truck backs up (when it goes beep-beep-beep repeatedly).
Woken up suddenly by sounds that I think I hear and feelings my body trembling from the inside.....is this projection or a precursor to it or what?
Like I said, this is somewhat frequent and just wanna know what's goin on!!
What will I see/hear if I project without intentionally doing it (like when I am sleeping and not "trying" to project...just tryin to sleep)?

As a newbie to meditation/astral topics, each new experience is exciting since I don't know what's going on, so here's yet another experience I had last night.
First a couple nights ago while in deep meditation, I started to feel as if my head - more particularly my chin - was rising up on its own, feeling as if my head was starting to face the ceiling as opposed to facing forward. Also my body felt like it was slightly leaning over (not swaying though). This was happening on its own, not of my own volition.

So.....last night while in deep med, it started happening again, except that this time it was to the tenth power. Basically, I felt my body starting to lean further and further over, and at the same time my head felt like it was looking the other way with my chin way way up in the air. It actually felt a bit uncomfortable and I slightly made myself sit back up straight and face my head forward, but it didn't feel changed. So I slightly opened my eyes and, get this, my body was NOT leaning over and my head was facing forward, contrary to what I felt!!! I closed my eyes again and still felt that my body was leaning over very very much (to the left) and my head was almost "twisting", chin way up in the air, turned completely sideways, and almost feeling like it was going to spin upside down if it could! It even got to the point where I couldn't tell if my head was "facing" to the left or right. It was a bit weird, not scary, but definitely caught my attention. Afterwards my neck was very tight and sore.

Can anyone tell me what this might have been and why!?!?
I also had a very cold feeling on the back of my neck, where that bump from the spine is.
Thanks a million times for the input.

Two things:
1. After about 45 minutes and deep into the "zone", this feeling of being very heavy came upon me. Felt like my body instantly gained like 100 lbs. Weird. What might this be attributed to?
2. While coming out of the deep meditation (still sitting there silently, eyes closed, etc) I had this very cold feeling (like liquid) start at the bottom of my skull, and slowly make its way down to my neck and then spread out into my shoulders and then was gone. What was that?
Again, I'm fairly new to all of this and thanks to the input I've gotten on this board I feel real progress and understanding is being made, so thanks!!!

Two questions....feedback please! Thanks in advance...

1. While meditating I got to "the zone"...wow...anyway, as I was in it I noticed that my body was rocking back and forth, very very very slightly, but it was unmistakable. I then realized that my body was doing it on its own. With the smallest bit of effort I tried to stop and it would not stop. It started getting slightly stronger by the second (but not in a scary way), my right leg then twitched, and that was the end of it. What was the rocking?

2. The past few nights I have had some truly deep meditations. Each time after I have come out of it I have had headaches...nothing painful, but very noticeable, and they last maybe til I fall asleep. Why the headaches after intense meditation?

THANKS!!!!

My fiancee shared with me an interesting experience that happened to her.
She was going through a rather difficult time in her life and a friend suggested that she visit a person who could do some "body work" on her. So she went to visit this person. In a large room were several individuals who were all there to get some work. They all laid face down on what looked like massage tables. The lady told my fiancee that she was going to touch a few places (chakras? I'm not too familiar with this). The lady gently touched my fiancee on various places on her spine. Next she began to touch the soles of the feet, and my fiancee said as soon as the lady did this to her on the feet she found her self in complete darkness and was flying head first into what seemed like outer space (bright flashes of light moving past her very very fast...stars?). The movement she felt was that she was moving forward head first extremely fast and could "see" the lights streaking by.
She came out of it suddenly only to find that the lady had gone well into the next few "patients" (or whatever). She looked over and saw that the lady was touching the soles of the feet of a male next to her and the male was shaking very violently.
What the hell was all of this?!?
Thanks for any input.

So last night I am in deep meditation, and at about the 35-40 minute mark I hit "the zone". Heaning got muffled, hands numb, heavy-wieghty feeling in my body. Then I started seeing dark flashes of purple (eyes were closed). Sometimes they were flashes, sometimes they were shapes that kept morphing into other weird shapes, but they were all deep purple in color with a very occasional red speck here and there. My question: what are the meaning of colors (purple especially)? Is this "energy"?
It was also interesting how in the "darkness" of closed eyes, I felt like I was moving "forward" into that darkness (almost felt "drawn" into it), maybe trying to "see" what was beyond that.
Anyway, my question about colors is my main thing here.
Thanks for any input!

About 4-5 years ago, I had a dream (???). Or something.
I was asleep and I remember all the sudden I was in a place that was brighter than bright (yet it was not hurting my eyes). I was surrounded by so many little children, all of different races. I looked up and all the kids were climbing on a seated figure who was seated on something (or nothing...just seated). I couldn't see the figure's face, it was a bright radiant light as was the white "clothing". I looked at myself and I too was a child, also climbing on the lap of who I understood as Jesus (as was the Biblical story of the same scenario). I could hear the kids laughing and talking to Jesus. The feeling was so real and yet so indescribable....beautiful peace is the best I can come up with. I looked up at Jesus, put my head on His arm, and as soon as I realized I was "there", I woke up only to find myself seriously crying (from the incredible feeling...and I am not an emotional fella!) and still feeling the immense peaceful feeling.
I seriously think it was more than a "dream" or whatever it was. I have had many episodes of sleep paralysis before but I don't remember if that happened or not leading up to the "dream", nor do I remember any vibrations (AP). Wierd. And yet so real.
Any thoughts??

Gretings all,
New to the realm of AP. Enough said I suppose, heh heh.
I've been an Orthodox Christian my whole life and am extremely fascinated at the real connections of AP/OBE and Christianity/religion (St. Paul visiting the 3rd heaven, etc). VERY intrigued by "what else" is beyond our feeble human knowledge.
In short, have had numerous sleep paralysis experiences even before I realized the possible conection to AP and OBE and the such. Have also had a couple rather odd (?) experiences that could have been AP???? Who knows. That's why I am here.
Peace.

Greetings all,
I am 32 years old and have recently begun to have an immense interest in the whole astral thing. I've been a very Spiritual individual my whole life (more specifically, an open minded Orthodox Christian) and have always been very introspective and meditative, so when I started to research AP and what not, it just caught my attention in a major way.
Anyhow, I have one experience to share and if anyone could give me any feedback I'd love it. Here goes...

This happened one night about 3 years ago: I was asleep as usual and woke up just enough to find myself in sleep paralysis (I had experience SP only twice before). As soon as I felt this, I immediately felt myself almost "thrust" upwards towards the ceiling and a VERY loud roar (almost train-like) was deafening. I don't know how quickly this happened, but I knew I was facing into the ceiling, yet I couldn't see it (felt blind). I did however feel a very VERY strong sense that my body was being forced upwards but wouldn't go any further than the ceiling despite the momentum. I remember trying to make sense of it in my head as it was happening ("is this the rapture!?" heh heh). I don't know how long it lasted but it came to a quick end and I found myself awake in bed (it was the middle of the night). I felt scared afterwards, but not terribly frightened, and to this day I remember the feeling of it all as if it were a very real event.
What the hell happened!?!?
I still have sleep paralysis about once a month or every two months, but nothing even remote to this story has happened since.
I am ever intrigued.

Thank you in advance!
-Jimi
