There are often people posting questions like "What is phasing ? how does it differ from regular OBE's ?"

I'm sure its been answered in plenty of posts beforehand; suffice to say its a term that Frank came up with to describe entering the astral gradually, with full control.

Anyway....here's a good analogy. Its been pretty hot here over the past few days, about 33-38c, the kind of weather where you enjoy having a cold shower.

Standing in the shower, the water was luke warm. I realised that if I turned it all the way down to 15c (cold) I'd have to jump out...so I thought, I'll turn the temperature down a degree or two, every couple of minutes. That way, I was becoming used to each stage of cold water, and it felt very comfortable. After a while I got all the way down to the coldest setting, and I didn't have the urge to jump out, because I'd become accustomed to the levels of temperature in between.

Likewise, phasing is a gradual process of entering the astral.

this is quite an interesting theory on cot deaths, or sudden infant death syndrome....

Hello everyone !

I'm interested in the views of all members, whether you've posted once, or a 1000 times.

a) What was your first impression when you came across this site ?
b) How easy was it for you to post a topic ?
c) How did you feel afterwards ?

my answers ...

a) I'd read astral dynamics by R Bruce, got the website from the book I think. I was pretty amazed by the level of discussion going on here.

b) Easy. It was about a year ago I think...can't remember my 1st post, it was probably something like "hi, im new here"

c) Felt pretty good, got a couple of replies, haven't looked back since !

Hello folks, I saw 15 minutes of an american programme last night on this subject.

Basically, there are groups of young people in America who call themselves "vampires". You'll recognise them easily enough - they look like they've stepped straight of the movie set of "The lost boys"....fangs, white make-up, the works.

For most, its a case of hanging out with like-minded people, in a "scene"....you go to clubs, and listen to vampire-style music (whatever that is), you date vampire chicks.

But some take it a bit further and actually drink each other's blood. I'm interested in what my fellow astral pulse members think of this !

I love the film "lost boys" - kiefer sutherland was one cool vampire. But biting someone's wrist and drinking their blood, on a club dancefloor, now that's taking it a bit too far, surely ??!!!

Hullo folks. Just thought you might be interested ! Copied from the American Family Foundation. I've taken the liberty to highlight a few sections myself...because I noticed them cropping up in some posts !!

I'm not saying astral pulse is a "cult"....I'm merely implying that the traffic that goes through the site sometimes shows these symptoms!

best wishes

What is a Cult?

A cult is a group or movement exhibiting a great or excessive devotion or dedication to some person, idea, or thing and employing unethically manipulative techniques of persuasion and control (e.g., isolation from former friends and family, debilitation, use of special methods to heighten suggestibility and subservience, powerful group pressures, information management, suspension of individuality or critical judgment, promotion of total dependency on the group and fear of leaving it, etc.) designed to advance the goals of the group's leaders to the actual or possible detriment of members, their families, or the community. (West & Langone, 1986)

Characteristics of a Destructive Cult

Authoritarian pyramid structure with authority at the top
Charismatic or messianic leader(s) (Messianic meaning they either say they are God OR that they alone can interpret the scriptures the way God intended.....the leaders are self-appointed.

Deception in recruitment and/or fund raising

Isolation from society -- not necessarily physical isolation like on some compound in Waco, but this can be psychological isolation -- the rest of the world is not saved, not Christian, not transformed (whatever) -- the only valid source of feedback and information is the group

Use of mind control techniques (we use Dr. Robert Jay Lifton's criteria from chapter 22 of his book Thought Reform & the Psychology of Totalism to compare whether the eight psychological and social methods he lists are present in the group at question)

Mileu Control: Control of the environment and communication within the environment

Mystical Manipulation: Seeks to promote specific patterns of behavior and emotion in such a way that it appears to have arisen spontaneously from within the environment, while it actually has been orchestrated totalist leaders claim to be agents chosen by God, history, or some supernatural force, to carry out the mystical imperative the "principles" (God-centered or otherwise) can be put forcibly and claimed exclusively, so that the cult and its beliefs become the only true path to salvation (or enlightenment)

Demand for Purity: The world becomes sharply divided into the pure and the impure, the absolutely good (the group/ideology) and the absolutely evil (everything outside the group) one must continually change or conform to the group "norm"; tendencies towards guilt and shame are used as emotional levers for the group's controlling and manipulative influences

Confession: Cultic confession is carried beyond its ordinary religious, legal and therapeutic expressions to the point of becoming a cult in itself sessions in which one confesses to one's sin are accompanied by patterns of criticism and self-criticism, generally transpiring within small groups with an active and dynamic thrust toward personal change

Sacred Science: The totalist milieu maintains an aura of sacredness around its basic doctrine or ideology, holding it as an ultimate moral vision for the ordering of human existence questioning or criticizing those basic assumptions is prohibited a reverence is demanded for the ideology/doctrine, the originators of the ideology/doctrine, the present bearers of the ideology/doctrine offers considerable security to young people because it greatly simplifies the world and answers a contemporary need to combine a sacred set of dogmatic principles with a claim to a science embodying the truth about human behavior and human psychology

Loading the Language: Words are given new meanings -- the outside world does not use the words or phrases in the same way -- it becomes a "group" word or phrase

Doctrine Over Person: If one questions the beliefs of the group or the leaders of the group, one is made to feel that there is something inherently wrong with them to even question -- it is always "turned around" on them and the questioner/criticizer is questioned rather than the questions answered directly the underlying assumption is that doctrine/ideology is ultimately more valid, true and real than any aspect of actual human character or human experience and one must subject one's experience to that "truth" the experience of contradiction can be immediately associated with guilt one is made to feel that doubts are reflections of one's own evil when doubt arises, conflicts become intense

Dispensing of Existence: Since the group has an absolute or totalist vision of truth, those who are not in the group are bound up in evil, are not enlightened, are not saved, and do not have the right to exist; impediments to legitimate being must be pushed away or destroyed one outside the group may always receive their right of existence by joining the group; fear manipulation -- if one leaves this group, one leaves God or loses their salvation/transformation, or something bad will happen to them; the group is the "elite", outsiders are "of the world", "evil", "unenlightened", etc.

Hi, I'm sure I'm not the only one who is a bit fed up of reading the constant personal bickering on these forums at the moment.

I'm a bit annoyed about this sort of comment by neg_removal5 aimed at silva :

quote:
Hi saliva, I mean silva

Have you ever heard the saying, "practice what you preach" you stupid grump. But you are not your everyday "B's", as I can tell by your stupid butt comment, you are one of those engineer educated types. You know how to build a real "B". I bet you have a lot of guys calling you by that name in real life. Do you know how I know that. I know you think I'm a mind reader, and you are saying to yourself how did he know that. I know that because only a ill mannered female would jump onto a forum site, and something like that be the first words out of her "nasty repulsive mouth". It kind of reminds me of the "neg" that Kolanek encountered. Find the site authored by him, and see if that female matches your description.

This isn't the kind of thing I come hear to read, and I'm sure it puts plenty of other people off, too. Surely neg_removal 5 is a "forum bug" ?

One of those books that is a mish-mash of theories, conjecture, and hard science.

The basic premise is : the universe has a holographic nature, an implicit and explicit side. The things we see and perceive have unfolded into our explicit physical universe, from a great reservoir of implicit dimensions/realities.

Our experiences are the results of how our minds interpret the many frequency waves that ovelap each other, similar to the way info is stored in a hologram.

Apparently this all has some credibility in the physics world (but not much).

If you love books that are a mixture of the unknown, religion, science, etc, then this'll be for you. !

This is the first of Monroe's 3 books. I think he died a few years back. The books were written between mid 70's and late 90's.

He recalls how he first got into OBE : basically he started feeling "vibrations" regularly, and then one day he floated out of his body. He went to doctors and psychiatrists who diagnosed nothing. So he learnt to live with it and learnt how to control the exit process.

There is a brief description of "how to", but if you are after a manual on how to project I would not recommend this or his other 2 books.

However, if you are interested in accounts of his early experiences, and his learnings, then give it a read.

This book tells of "locale 1 & 2", Monroe's early labels for the real-time zone and the astral. Much of this book deals with the real time zone.

All in all, a pretty good read.

I've been considering for some time now the Real Time projection in comparison with an Astral projection.

In the "real time" scenario, the individual finds himself floating in the physical world, without the physical laws we are familiar with (solid structures give way; gravity can be ignored.) The astral is accepted to contain many different levels / places, some of which are inhabited by higher conciousness and generally don't lend themselves to being described using everyday language.

It seems that the astral is any region that does not have the appearance of a familiar place within the real-time zone / physical world.

In my experience, there is no difference between an astral projection and a real time projection. Perhaps we should stop using the words "real time projection" as they are simply referring to an astral construct that takes the form of the physical world, in the minds eye of the projector.

For example, we talk about how a real time projection often ends up as an astral projection. Many different reasons are given for this, e.g. it is hard to hold focus and remain objective in the RTZ; There is a natural tendency to leave the RTZ and enter the astral.

Surely a simpler explanation is that the RTZ is just a staging post in the astral that looks like the physical world, e.g. your bedroom. The further away you move from this staging post, the more you experience "reality fluctuations". Are these not symptomatic of the fact that you are less familiar with, say, the town centre, compared to the contents of your own bedroom ? Couple this with the fact that the mind is capable of creating its own reality during an astral projection.

My hypothesis is this : The process of astral projection, conciously willed or not, can go 2 ways.
1) you end up at a "staging post" in the astral that looks similar to your bedroom / place of projection.
2) you end up somewhere else in the astral.

I recognise that there is something standing in the way of this hypothesis....Both Robert Bruce & Bob Monroe (to name but two people) are adamant that they have gained info that they could not possibly have found out unless they were actually "out of body".

This is a hard one to counter. There is no scientific evidence which backs up Monroe & Bruce and others though.

Lets say someone sets up a playing card out of view, then projects, and records the info accurately. Imagine this is repeated several times and verified by scientists. Is it actually demonstrating that something is leaving the body, and making the observation ? or is it just demonstrating that the mind has become party to information that it required ?

One final point - this post is on the distinction between RTZ and astral. It is not meant primarily as a discussion on the "reality" of the experience.

Best wishes,
Mark

....was your textbook experience involving a "tugging" sensation at my chest.

I found myself fully concious looking out my bedroom window, lying on my side, just the way I was positioned as I attempted to project.

Realising that I was in my "astral body" I rolled quite easily out of my physical body, and stood by the bed. At this point I lost my vision, felt some general unpleasantness all over (comparable to a bad hangover I suppose) and then realised I was being pulled back toward my physical body, as If someone had attached a bungee rope to the centre of my chest.

I stood there thinking " ah, this is the old silver-cord thing I've read about....All I need to do is move out of proximity of my body and I'll be free to do as I please".

But as I edged away from my body, the tugging got stronger and stronger, to the point where I thought "this is going nowhere"; so I hopped back into my body.

ah well.....maybe next time !

Hi folks, I've been using this CD for a while now....Its definitely helped me have projections.

I have noticed that more often than not, a projection experience comes about after I've lost conciousness to some degree...Soon after I regain it, perhaps being awoken by the sound of bob's voice on the CD, to find myself out of body.

Typically I find that if I can keep concious for the entire exercise, I won't have an "OBE".

Does anyone have any tips on how I can stay concious through the whole experience ? I've managed it once, but I don't know how I did it !

cheers

I have had a couple of good results this week with the old Wave 1 exercise 2 (focus 10). Coincidentally, this week I began waking earlier to listen to the CD. Another factor that has helped (I believe) is my posture; First, I lie on my back and do the exercise all the way through. Then, I start again, but I lie on my side, immediately feeling more comfortable and relaxed than before.

Yesterday morning, I put the CD on for the 2nd time, and lay on my side. Gradually the blackness before my eyes filled with geometric patterns, tiled in front of me at some distance. But it wasn't that great.

A few minutes later something did happen that was exciting - A big white screen appeared in front of me, I could see some greenery behind it. I realised "this is that cinema-type screen that people sometimes see" so I tried to move towards it, but I got more and more excited, and it faded away.

But I wasn't put off, and I continued (to wait for something to happen, more than any concious effort). I gradually realised I was in some kind of darkened "cabin", and someone was sitting in front of me. At this point I felt the cabin was moving faster and faster, and the most incredible sound was filling my head. It was like I was being run over by a freight train !! It got louder and louder, and then eventually stopped silent. As it did, I seemed to jolt forward, just like you do when a roller coaster stops at the end of a ride.

I still couldn't see at this point, but I felt around and found a door handle. I opened it, and I was at a roadside, next to some beautiful trees that were shimmering, rainbow-like. I recognised an old friend standing nearby, dressed in a dinner suit. My only concern though was to make sure that I had my house keys(?) so that I could get back home ok.

At this point I went straight back to normal conciousness, and realised that my efforts with the hemi-sync cd were not in vain !

I've listened to wave 1 excercise 2 now on many occasions. Typically I listen to it on returning home from work, or at the weekend when I'm nicely relaxed. (I've tried several times to wake myself up at 2 or 3am and give it a go, but I normally end up just turning the alarm clock off and rolling over !)

I've noticed so far that there are typically one of 4 outcomes to the exercise :
1) I fall asleep, and then awaken to Monroe's voice at the end saying "breath deeply, stretch your arms and legs". This normally happens 5% of the time.
2) I am disturbed by a noise or something else; or I can 'feel' that there will be no positive outcome to the exercise, so I give up about 2/3rds of the way through (25% of the time)
3) I have some sort of "success" (10%)
4) I complete the exercise, but feel nothing has happened (60%)

Ok, lets focus on number 3. My successes are nothing significant to date. I've seen 3d blackness a couple of times, I've also seen a fair bit of imagery behind my eyelids...Most recently, I could conjure up faces, objects etc. There were also scenes / faces appearing that I definitely did not conjure up. Apart from that - nothing else.

But I'm not giving up just yet!

Anyway, my question is on how the exercise is used, hopefully a few of you guys can give me some pointers ! I've been using an "imaginary scenario" as per Frank's post a while back...But I haven't had any noticeable success with that technique, and I find that it is quite hard mental work to follow the scenario through, so I often stray from it.

I've also just been lying back, relaxing, and trying to "do" the exercises Monroe guides you through (energy conversion box, resonant tuning, declaration, relaxation). By doing this, and not really engaging my imagination at all, I seem to be having the "successes" I mentioned above, but not progressing any further.

Re. Frank's technique - am I going about it in the right way ? I feel that if I was doing it correctly, I would have more success by now !!

Help !! anyone got any ideas ?

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I'm a keen guitar player and a wanna-be "pop star" at heart....and sometimes you struggle when it comes to writing a tune.

I've had a few lucid dreams where I've found myself in a music store / library, and in those situations, Its been easy to open up a mystery book of music, and "play" the tunes. On one occasion, I awoke and could clearly recall a brand new song that I had "heard" within the lucid dream environment.

Does anyone else have any similar experiences ?

Does anyone regularly use astral projection / lucid dreaming as a tool for not just getting inspiration, but actually getting whole new ideas ?!

I'm not just talking musically here...I'm interested in how anything gained from the astral has had an impact on the physical....

In Monroe's first book, he refers part of the astral as locale II. Here, thought is action / energy / creation.

He states that on his many trips there, he has noticed one constant....Occasionally, there is a herald sound, and all of the occupants in that particular zone lie down on their backs, as "He" passes. Typically, one of the occupants in the zone will be taken away, never to return. Whilst lying down, all the occupants face away from "him".

As soon as "he" has passed, the occupants resume their day to day activities...

My question to those of you who can project is, have you experienced anything consistent with the above ? or does it ring a bell at all ?

Mark

Hi Adrian, I had a thought when I was reading through a recent thread...i think it was regarding "conscientology"(?!!).

At one point, person A (can't remember who it was) made a comment....he/ she had previously made 5 or 6 posts.

Then, person B made a post, and person A replied saying something along the lines of "I wouldn't expect that of a gold member" (or something. Nothing to do with austin powers by the way - this is regarding the number of stars each member has).

So B replies saying " the stars just show how many posts you have made".

Would there be any use for an "astral rating" ? This would give members a better idea of who is giving what advice....

so, even though i've made over 100 posts, my astral rating would be the lowest level, because I haven't projected yet. A person who can project at will would have the top rating.

This rating would obviously be voluntary, and needn't be displayed next to each post....It could be placed in the member profile.

Has anyone else got any views on this ? I realise that it has its bad points, but it would be entirely voluntary... It would be useful for me because I am guilty of skipping over posts from people who have only just joined recently, in favour of posts from people who are regulars here : For all I know, a new kid on the block may well be a very experienced projector.
cheers,
Mark

Welcome to Astral Chat! / The Golden Child !
September 12, 2002, 07:20:05
....a film with Eddie Murphy, and Charles Dance as the bad guy. I'm sure most of you have seen it.

If not, here's a brief summary...
"As The Chosen One, Eddie Murphy's on a madcap mission to save The Golden Child, a youth with mystical powers who's been abducted by an evil cult. He battles a band of super-nasties, scrambles through a body-trapped chamber of horrors and traverses Tibet to obtain a sacred dagger. But it's Murphy's wit that turns out to be his sharpest weapon in this 24-karat comedy adventure."

Stay with me here, there is a point to this.

It occurred to me this morning, whilst reading the posts on the Gateway series, that one scene in particular in the movie has a lot in common with the "phasing in" type of projection that Robert Monroe describes, and the "channeling" described by Paulo Coelho and others.

In this scene, Charles Dance (as Sardo Numspa (!!), the demon assistant of the devil) sits down on a rug. He closes his eyes, hummmmmms to himself, and sends himself into a trance.

In the background, the normal environs fall away, to reveal a hellish fiery landscape. At this point Charles Dance begins communicating with a voice (the devil presumably).

Surely, this is IDENTICAL to laying back, sending yourself to focus 10, and then from there projecting ?!

just a thought.

Hi Folks. I watched a (very biased) program over the weekend on the moon landings. Basically, plenty of folks are convinced that they never happened, producing various tid-bits of evidence to back them up. NASA didn't get a word in edgeways !

I reckon :
we did land on the moon,
99.9% of conspiracy theories are very interesting, but untrue

But after watching the program, I'm only 96.5% convinced we landed :

a) the flag ...."its fluttering in the breeze, but there's no wind on the moon! ", the arguments that I have heard FOR th landing are : It was not fluttering, there was a piece of wire inserted into the top of the flag.....the movement in the flag was a result of the astronaut screwing the pole into the moons surface.

b) 2 x speed up the films of the landing (the astronauts bouding around, the moon buggies) ....and they just look like a bunch of guys wearing spacesuits out for a jog in the park !!! hmmmm.

What does everyone else think ? Am i right to be sceptical ? or is this conspiracy theory part of the 0.1% that are true ?

I read Robert Bruce's book recently, and I am fascinated by how he described the astral plane.

Please forgive me if this question has come up before...I'd like to ask those people who have had several projection experiences :
1) How does the astral plane look / feel / sound etc ?
2) Are your experiences similar / identical / different to Robert Bruce's observations ?

#173
Hi there Rocketman007 ! welcome to the astralpulse too.

quote:
I'm not making any of this up, and I hope none of the self proclaimed "guru's" that just make up stuff on other forums

I'm sure you'll soon see that the Astralpulse is a great place to hang out. It is a truly global community of young & old, women & men. I can't think of anyone here that you might consider a "self proclaimed guru" !! hee hee.

quote:
And my final question: Is AP relatively safe?

Yes. I'm basing this on a) my experiences, b) the experiences of the people on this board, c) the accounts I have read in OBE literature. I haven't read any accounts of people coming to any physical or mental harm. I personally have had only one astral experience that left me feeling slightly physically uncomfortable, but it is impossible to say whether or not the sensations I felt were caused by my OBE.

Is it safe for everyone ? I'd hazard a guess that OBE exercises & the like shouldn't be undertaken by individuals with a history of serious mental illness.... This is just my un-scientific opinion though !

quote:
If you project from a dream is it really an astral projection or is it a "virtual" projection just in your imagination.

Good question, I've considered this several times in the light of my own experiences. I haven't come to one conclusion. IMO, every astral projection within the lower planes consists of a subjective reality & an objective reality. As thought = action, the activity of our minds can create and enhance our astral environments, so that what we perceive is a combination of the "true astral" & our "mind's astral".

At the same time, there appear to be regions within the astral that are far more "plastic" and receptive to our influence.... Yet, they do not retain this influence for long. Furthermore there are also areas that appear to be very solid & hard to change. I'd guess that if you were able to make a change (e.g. build a house) within such an area, the act of building would be difficult, but the feature would have a longer life within the astral.

A third point I consider along with those above, is that whilst the astral experience may be a combination of subjective & objective, the objective part is hard to pin down. In the physical our 5 senses interpret the energy around them. Mankind has come to a near 100% consensus on our physical reality & labelled it "science". Our non-physical realities do not yet fall under the umbrella of science, perhaps because we are not perceiving with our 5 physical faculties.

quote:
Also where are all these different planes people talk about? When I left my body from dreams I only experienced two types of places, the earth and universe as we know it, and a place where I couldn't "see" anything but could still sense everything going on and communicate.

Another area that there is no consensus on ! On top of the two places you mention, a third could be labelled "the astral planes", an infinite array of places where all manner of strange things occur.

Where are they ? Well, they aren't above, below, or light years away. They are non-physical realms that are within you and all of us. We exist on these non-physical realms just as we exist on physical realms. I don't have too much experience with astral exploration though, dig around within these forums and you'll find more info.

Sorry I can't answer any more of your questions, I'm sure there are others who will !

Hi there Mossad !

I can't say I've read the book - but I must admit to being sceptical about this kind of thing ... [:)]

Why sell a book on "how to make money" ? Why not just go out and use the method to make money ?!

I did a search for pdf's on "how to make money fast", thinking I might get this $80 ebook for free [;)] but I found this one instead :

I've faced a similar problem on several occasions. Like you, its usually my head that is anchored in position. Sometimes, one side of the etheric body is free, but the other side can't break away from the physical.

For me, the key to complete seperation in this situation is to relax and go with the flow. Don't attempt to rise out of your body, or use "intent" to will yourself out. Just consider that your legs are already free, & a process is already underway. Relax & let this process unfold & you should seperate.

Unfortunately, on each of these exits, I typically find that I cannot control my astral / etheric body. It is almost as if the "restraint" that anchored me to the physical has continued in my mind. If I "will" myself to float towards a window or walk outside, my astral body refuses to cooperate leaving me no choice but to hop back into bed !!

Mark
