well, first of all, I would start practicing during the day instead of at night when you're going to bed.  should help a little bit.

in addition, I like to practice balancing on the border of wake/sleep at night when i go to bed.  one trick i learned was to tap your finger on your bed as you're falling asleep at night.  if you fall asleep you'll catch yourself not tapping anymore and it will wake you up.  then start tapping again.  just keep doing this as long as you want before falling asleep.  it makes you more familiar with that state so it's easier when you do AP practice.

also, don't be discouraged.  sometimes it can take some time, nothing to worry about.  it will come, all in good time.

I'm positing a theory that the reason the server crashed is because we have CIA operatives on the forum and they noticed that I was posting to many "news stories" about their masters' handy work.

LoL.

So if it was you, I'm on to you and it will only be a matter of time before you're found.

I have decided to get back to basics and spend some time trying to increase dream recall and hopefully my LDs.  I have never had a fully conscious, fully controlled LD.  I have had some where I am vaguely aware that I'm dreaming but couldn't do much about it.  So I've been trying to keep a dream journal, do reality checks regularly, and blah blah, you all know.

On a side note, I am trying to talk to a friend of mine who programs apps for iPhones to switch over to Droid apps and make me a Reality Check Reminder app that will vibrate or give a notification that it's time to do a reality check.  There are some notepad apps and whatnot but it's hard to find one that you can set for random reminder times or even a consistent repeating reminder in short intervals (like every hour).  I"m going to so the design myself and just have my friend program it.  So give me suggestions of things you think should be included in the app itself.  If and when I get this to happen I'll let you all know what it's called so that anybody with an Android OS phone can get it.

I've referenced this author quite a few times already, but he seems to be a good psychological researcher when i comes to acknowledging the "split" in the human brain and the tendencies of each hemisphere.

Look into Stan Gooch.

It's not universal.

the perceived experience of suffering is entirely personal.

and the "solution" to one's suffering is only found through personal experience.

i've always read "suffering" in this context to mean a lack of awareness of your true state.  like the adam and eve story, they ate from the tree of knowledge of "good and evil" (duality) and fell from paradise (forgot their nature).

it's not about that, not about 'fulfilling your life's purpose' or whatever.

it's about revelation, at some point you become aware of your own truth.

mastery of your reality.

a koan is like a riddle, but it's not a riddle.  it is a question or a phrase that you contemplate.  the "answer" comes to your through understanding, but you can't explain that answer to anyone else, it has to be experienced.  it's kind of like a mantra in a way.  it's usually given to you, by your master, to contemplate.

the old 'tree fall in the woods' is a koan, so it the 'what's the sound of one hand clapping'.

but there are all kinds of koans, google them.

i remember in my first world religions class in college the professor thought she was all kinds of clever and wanted to stump us all with a koan.  she gave us the koan and told us that if we could answer it by the end of the semester then we would get an A on the final exam.  i gave her two answers at the end of that first day.

i got an A on my final exam.

i guess it was really only one answer and one observation about koans in general.  i told her that none of us could really answer it because that wasn't really the point.  the point was the contemplation of the koan, which she agreed.  i had never heard of a koan at the time but it seemed appropriate.  i think she simply asked us "who is the other".  my actual answer was, i am the other.  she was dumbfounded.  she was legitimately shocked i think.

here's my main complaint though.  each person's journey is unique.  buddhism is how sidhartha gautama (if there were such a being) came to his realization of this reality.  sidhartha's path will not work for anyone else.  bottom line.  each person has to find their own "8-fold path".  what buddhism is in many people's minds does not lend itself to self-discovery.  i know that it seems much less dictatorial than other so called religions, but that doesn't mean it is.  i guess in "rusty's world", if i can't trust the roots of christianity (which i think is egyptian/babylonian sun worship wearing a different outfit, what makes me think i can trust buddhism?

it may seem more honest, but i don't trust it.  the only thing i trust and will vouch for is my reality, but there's no reason for me to share that with you.

if i didn't personally take it out of the ground or raise and slaughter it myself then i don't trust it.

it's easy to write the word, "organic" on a package.  doesn't mean its any good for you.  as with all fads, this one has gotten supremely annoying.  the biggest problem with diet is that people have unique bodies with unique fluctuations, increased levels, deficiencies, etc. of all the things that are supposed to be good for you.  one person's diet ought to be carefully tailored to their system.  for example, not only should people not drink milk, but i personally was born premature and my digestive system didn't fully develop as it should have.  subsequently i have a lot of digestive problems, not the least of which being an over sensitivity to dairy.  So i usually avoid dairy.  Sounds obvious right?  Well, I was also told recently to drink apple juice instead of coffee in the spring time and i tried to do it, but after a short time of doing it every day i started to have some major digestive problems.  as soon as i stopped drinking apple juice i was fine again.  what should be great for everyone (pure apple juice) made me sick.  the same goes for most foods and supplements.  every body is unique and takes unique sustenance.

addicted...sheesh.

what is the second noble truth?

the cause of suffering is attachment.

you can't just follow the 8-fold path blindly (or use it as a barometer to check your status) because you will then turn it into an attachment just like all religious doctrine becomes.

like all spiritual traditions, the 8-fold path is multidimensional and it serves as a guideline, not rules.  when i say it is multidimensional, i mean that it has different meanings depending on you level of "initiation" (which is self induced, i don't want to make it sound like an occult tradition).  At some point in your practice you learn to see the "bigger picture" as is related to that tradition, thereby expanding the practical application of said tradition.

but, you're still playing with fire.  if you have limited control of your focus and are easily sucked into things then be careful because it's just as easy to get sucked into "buddhism" as "christianity".  I know people always see buddhism as a "philosophy" and not a "religion".  hogwash.  Buddhism has just as many ego traps as anything else.

i was being jokingly sarcastic  :-)

so it was sarcastic sarcasm.  just trying to express that i'm not getting "heated" over this discussion.  who cares either way, it will happen or it won't, whatever.  we can deal with it if the time comes.  and i know i come across as awfully "paranoid" but i just like to think of myself as mentally prepared to lessen the blow of the cognitive dissonance that will happen when we are finally shown how different our "lives" are compared to what we've been told our lives are.

the physical body is what is being chemically affected, not the 'mind'.  When you AP you aren't perceiving through the body's sensory filters so naturally the same effects of the medication won't be felt.  Have you tried non-pharmaceutical methods for relief from ADD?

I personally don't believe in ADD.  I don't think it's as much of a disease as it is just habitual programming.  I mean, think about it.  The whole problem revolves around lack of focus.  You can't focus on one task for extended amounts of time.  In "extreme" cases people are so flustered all the time that it can lead to anxiety and other things.  Now, notice the rapid increase in ADD/ADHD diagnoses over the last 20 years.  What else has rapidly increased over the past 20 years??  Technology, a life that has been digitally infused.  TV, Internet, Cell Phones, Video Games, PDAs, ipods, and on and on it goes.  What is the one thing all of this has in common?  They are all training us to perceive super fast.  There is always something moving and changing.  Flickering lights, flanking commandos, instant video streamed from anywhere, a phone call anywhere at any time, 20,000 song library on demand.  How could anyone possibly expect the generation who is growing up with this kind of lifestyle to be able to sit still and concentrate?  Everything is go go go these days.  Kids are trained to live in the world of instant entertainment in any form they choose.  Now ask one of them to sit down and do a math problem or just simply focus enough to eat dinner with the family.  Good luck with that.

So instead of teaching our children meditation as early as we can, let's pump them full of drugs that are widely abused as stimulants.  That used to be a friday night for me and my friends.  Pop a couple adderall and you can drink all night.

Welcome to Dreams! / Re: kundalini and dreams
June 19, 2010, 13:01:59
all kinds of strange things happen when your energetic self is expanding.

i feel like "kundalini activation" is the ADD of the new age world, as in that diagnosis is given out way too liberally which derogates the significance of those who are actually dealing with that 'diagnosis'.

If I were a betting man, I would put money on them being able to do it.

I'm not a tech person so I can't tell you the logistics of it.

There is a point in that article that says part of the bill includes freeing any of the big ISPs of liability AND paying them for any lost profits during the "down-time".  It's as easy as that to get the big ISP guys in on the plan.  Naturally there will be those who would find loopholes and the like.  But for like 95% (random number, no evidence, just a guess) of people who barely know how to work a computer, let alone how the computer works, this could be a collapse.

I have learned to accept that the technology we are allowed access to doesn't even scratch the surface of what really exists.  I don't doubt for a second that there is probably a very simple means to this end and even the "tech-savvy" are ignorant of it.

but that's just me.

I'm probably 100% dead wrong and am just being silly and paranoid.
(sarcasm at your expense)

Perhaps "Internet Kill Switch" was too strong a phrase.  The author of the article picked it, not me.  Nevertheless, look at what is done in China and North Korea.  The internet is tightly regulated there.  If they can do it, the US can do it.  It's not that the internet would be "shut down", I mean, it's the internet, it's like electricity, it was discovered, not created (lol, you get what i mean).  But, just like the US can control access to electricity, they could equally control access to the internet.  they wouldn't kill the internet, but they could severely limit our access to it, thereby preventing us from telling the world what's happening here and preventing the world from communicating with us.

I've come back with my whole body being sore and my hands clenched into fists.  I don't know if it always happens, but I think your muscles tense during projection.
#1946
This is the first time you've ever attempted projection?
#1947
thank you, that means more to me than you could ever know.

#1948
absolutely nothing.

that's why i said, "i don't know how i'll be able to handle enslavement without being able to talk to you all about it".

lol.

luckily though, my zombie plan actually doubles as a NWO plan.

my dad and i have talked about it.  he's not a conspiracy buff like me, but he hasn't trusted the US government for years.  he actually joined the army years ago in order to get survival training (which he continued after his service), but more importantly to experience how their soldiers are trained so when they come he will be aware of their basic tactics.  he's a bit of an odd man.  nevertheless, he's convinced that gun rights will be gone soon and it won't be long after that before martial law goes into effect.  he doesn't have a bomb shelter or anything, but he built a house up in the mountains that is entirely self sufficient.  he tells everyone that it was his pet project for when he retires so that him and my mom can go live in the mountains (they are those kind of people either way).  but he's kept me involved, since i was about 15, as to the "true" nature of his retirement home.  it's a self sufficient house, with a well that he dug and solar/geothermal power supplies.  he has spent the past few years treating the soil around the place and preparing it to yield good crop harvests for a number of years.  he also has a small armory there.  he's always been into guns, he's kind of a redneck.  not really, but kind of.

that's my zombie plan though.  to go to that house, which is a very defensible location.

i'm not saying that it will come to that, but just in case.

i never really thought i'd have to legitimately worry about zombies, it was always just kind of a fun idea to have.  but then i saw this....

awesome.

but to straight up answer your question stookie, i'm doing nothing, because i'm one of those kind of people.  The one's that complain but don't do anything about it.

whether or not these things are real, which i'm not saying either way, no being is anymore powerful than any other being.  it's simply a matter of control.  if you are being visited by "rapist/perverts" then that means that you have something in your psyche that is attracting them (attracting actual beings or creating these kinds of figments, whichever you prefer, it's irrelevant).  The solution is the same either way.  These experiences are a reflection of the state of your psyche no matter what they really are.  Just like all of reality is a reflection of your psyche because of how you perceive it.  You can believe that your reality is created in direct response to your psyche or that your perception only sees things that are a reflection of itself because that's what it is looking for.  Either way, the problem lies with you.  Don't take solace in being a victim.  In the end, no one but you cares if you're a victim and so there's not really any sense in perceiving the world as "out to get you" in a any way.  The best thing to do is take responsibility for your awareness and control it.

If you're making these things up in your mind then you can disperse them.  If they are actual entities, independent of you, then you can protect yourself because your power is equal to theirs, you just have to control your focus.
#1950
All that ascension means is mastery over your focus.  that's it.

Control of your ability to direct your focus of awareness wherever you choose by will alone.  None of this, "getting into the right state of mind" for projection.  It would be as simple as scratching your head.
