Thanks for the reply, x_wolf19 (Nick). I too, do all those things. The vibrations that I get are subtle ones. Not the roaring ones some describe. They are mostly a tingling kind.

There's a great book that might interest you: The nature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts. It's a Seth book if you know about that. I read it a few years ago and will probably read it again b/c it was so profound. The book came out I think in 1974 but its been such a perennial bestseller that it is still in print.
A quote from the book: "You are a multidimensional personality. Trust the miracle of your own being. Make no divisions between the physical and the spiritual in your lifetimes, for the spiritual speaks with a physical voice and the corporeal body is the creation of the spirit".
Take care,

Hi nstkd6,
The method I use to get to what I believe is the mind awake/body asleep state involves first relaxation, then the trance. For that I use what I learned at the Zen Center of Los Angeles back in the 90's but it's fairly simple: first start by counting the breaths up to ten, then begin back at one, and so on. In so doing you are focusing on the breathing and emptying your mind of random mind chatter. Eventually, the counting isn't necessary and then you can just focus on the breathing. From there, you will not even notice you are breathing. It works for me so I thought I'd pass it along.
A good introductory explanation is in a little book called: Taking the Path of Zen by Robert Aitken.
Take care,

The lucid dream is nice b/c you can actually jump off a ledge and know you won't get hurt. You mentioned "The Lucid Dreamer". I'd like to find it. Who was the author?

I've been doing Zen meditation for a number of years having learned the basics at the Zen Center of Los Angeles back in the 90's. The method has stayed with me. I use it to get to the trance state. It is pretty simple really. Focus on your breathing. You can start by counting breaths up to ten, then back to one again, and so on. The purpose is to empty your mind. After a while, when you get good at emptying your mind of random thoughts, you can drop the counting and just follow your breaths. A couple of really good books if you're interested are: Taking the path of Zen by Robert Aitken; and Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki.[;)]

Reading books is a good start. Having read a lot of books (with more still to go like Bruce Moen - thanks Frank) I would recommend the following: Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce; Out of Body Experiences by Robert Peterson; and Adventures Beyond the Body by William Bulhman. Hope this helps. [;)]

I would take a look at pages 373 and 374 of Astral Dynamics. I think what Robert Bruce says makes a lot of sense: "The only cases I have come across where projectors have had seriously bad experiences with lower subplanes involved hallucinogenic drugs being used to precipitate out-of-body experiences. Drugs, while capable of causing out-of-body experiences, sidestep the required skills and abilities necessary for safe conscious-exit projections. This breaks many natural laws concerning projection while artificially overcoming many natural safeguards and barriers. Natural barriers are there to protect the novice from operating in dimensional areas they are not equipped to experience."

Thanks for your reply nstkd8. Hopefully there will be some replies to this topic that can give us some decent advice.

The most important reason would be spiritual growth. After that, knowledge, I guess.[8D]
