Cool to see some random article from 13 years ago pop up by the author no less. I would have never found this article buried on the site, but a fun little bit of synchronicity is I have been looking into same technique author TL describes, which in essence is "chaining" or what the lucid dreaming crowd would call "DEILD" dream exit induced lucid dreaming. Now if I could just get to that state of consciousness  :-(

I like how you say "Michael Raduga's indirect techniques"... like he invented them or something.
Michael Raduga is a fraud.  He doesn't even believe projection is something real.  So meh.  You'll forgive me if I toss him and his book into the trash bin. ;)

Woah.  :-o I referenced him because its easy to look up AAAANNNNDDDDD the instructions he gives are clear. You want me to rephrase it....Hey Sammie, look up DEILD technique for some tips.

Michael Raduga's indirect techniques are all about catching yourself right as you wake up.

I thought your post on reddit looked familiar. 8-) Im reading it there thinking this sounds like someone from AstralPulse. Did you have a "phase" post that people liked too?

2018 has been a battle of the wits for me. Been working up motivation slowly. After reading your post last night when I woke up around 4:30am I was about to shut my eyes for that tempting bit of more sleep, but then I told myself no, I should try something. Baby step I guess.

I came across a video of Tom Campbell talking about binaural beats that I thought was informative. Mostly basic info but I liked his attitude about using them but suggesting to work towards not using them. Guess as part of the seminar he did, the people got copies of bb he has created.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW1pwe0ylRw

After I watched it, I followed a link from that video to a site that sells Toms bb's that isn't very much in price either. I may get them, but sure do like how the price isn't as steep as TMI.

Anyone tried Tom's versions?

Seinfeld "The abstinence"

....

George: No, no, no. Just lately, I've been thinking a lot clearer. Like this afternoon, (To television) what is chicken Kiev, (Back to Jerry) I really enjoyed watching a documentary with Louise.

Jerry: Louise! That's what's doin' it. You're no longer pre-occupied with sex, so your mind is able to focus.

George: You think?

Jerry: Yeah. I mean, let's say this is your brain. (Holds lettuce head) Okay, from what I know about you, your brain consists of two parts: the intellect, represented here (Pulls off tiny piece of lettuce), and the part obsessed with sex. (Shows large piece) Now granted, you have extracted an astonishing amount from this little scrap. But with no-sex-Louise, this previously useless lump, is now functioning for the first time in its existence. (Eats tiny piece of lettuce)

....

Elaine: I don't know. It's just the last coupla days my mind has been, not good.

Jerry: Wait a second, I know what's happening. The no sex thing is having a reverse effect on you.

Elaine: What? What are you talking about?

Jerry: To a woman, sex is like the garbage man. You just take for granted the fact that any time you put some trash out on the street, a guy in a jumpsuit's gonna come along and pick it up. But now, it's like a garbage strike. The bags are piling up in your head. The sidewalk is blocked. Nothing's getting through. You're stupid.

Elaine: I don't understand.

Jerry: Exactly.

...

:-)

HAHAH...love that someone can quote a Seinfeld show. That one was so funny too. Cheers baro!

I saw this post and it led me back to your doorway thread and a lot more details. Great inspiration  8-)

Phasing is a "conscious" shift from A to B. that is undergone by completely turning your focus away from A. How you do that is up to you. Once you do it, your entire focus will be on B, unless you have the ability to maintain a dual awareness and not have A bother you at all.

My Doorway program has been adapted to these steps.
My steps being
#1-Relax
#2-Etheric body awareness/Disassociation from the Physical Body
#3-Daydream, lose yourself in thought. Example:  your "Happy Place"
#4-Very brief physical body "sneak peak"
#5-6 point directional focus. Motion
#6-Basic Training, Candle flame visual

#4 may seem unorthodox, but I have a reason for each step. I tried to eliminate the early"visual" aspect of the practice. Instead, by becoming proficient in this process, you will find that visuals are no problems anymore. My process doesn't use intended imagery until you are deep enough that visualizing becomes automatic. Which would be step 6. You will find though that each step will lead to "mental associations".

I have tested this and tweaked it according to results I personally found and those that I had using it in the past for the last couple of years now.

Last night I set an alarm for 4.5 to 5 hours after sleep. When the alarm went off I went back to bed and didn't attempt anything. I also had another smartphone and shut if off because of the loud sound.

Any advice?

Thanks.

I'll just pass along what I've read about wbtb, if you fall right back to sleep after 4.5-5hrs, then you didn't get enough sleep, so now try 6hrs. You are like a scientist testing things out. If 6hrs makes you too awake, then adjust down between again.  Changing length of being up is other option during wbtb.

Also, my wife has sleep apnea and went un-diagnosed for decades. She has a machine now though. Something I did get for her that you might want to look into is a essential oil mist diffuser and search for essential oils that could help with breathing like eucalyptus oil or I read maybe Thyme. If your overweight that will be a factor too for breathing. My 2 cents.

Just thought I would share that I was able to experience the vibration stage for the first time 2 days ago. I've been attempting the FILD technique with no success getting lucid. I went to bed usual time around 10pm and around 2-3am woke up and started tossing and turning trying to fall back asleep. I then decided to prop myself up a little higher with 2 pillows to make it feel less like I was lying down and within seconds I immediately went into vibrations. My heart rate increased a little but otherwise I tried to just let go and let it do whatever. I got a little disoriented because it felt as if my body was spinning a bit. Last thing I remember (I think) was hearing music like from a jack-in-the-box toy but not that song. Lasted probably less than a minute then faded away. I sort of expected images and maybe a dream to form but nothing really formed. :( I did a reality check and I was not in a dream. Very fun little experience. I tried to do it again last night but it did not happen.

Anyways, Lumaza, I am trying to get some np practice in during the day at work with a little 2-5 minute session but last few weeks have not been ideal so hopefully more typical routine will help going forward. With respect to 6 pt, I can put a focus on a point but it feels more like attention is put on that point instead of my actual viewpoint being at that spot. One day instead of focusing on the position, instead I tried to rather "feel" a sensation similar to moving in that direction like flying forward, or the feeling of diving down or trampaline going up. Other things that you've mentioned that do seem to feel a bit easier would be something like imagining or "feeling" my NP arms swinging as if I was trying to swim or do arm exercises. Actions seem easier then actually perceiving myself at a point next to me

I was all set to post today a request for you (Lumaza) to describe in more detail this "ping ponging" in regards to the 6pt focus. I was a bit lost in how I was suppose to interpret my position and direction at each point - trying to visualize being in that new position. Instead I will just say thank you for the nice write up. ;) It is tricky trying to see myself in the new focus position. I think with your explanation of actually moving physically to the new position and remembering that viewpoint will give a good reference for a newbie.

Hi Lumaza,
I've been lurking for +6 months and decided to join because I enjoy the conversations here (initially it was Frank Kepple comments/help regarding Monroe's Gateway wave series). Anyways, I started attempting lucid dreaming last August and have only had 3 very low level LDs and that is not good enough. After a few decades of autopilot I am trying to fix/improve things. Ive been improving aspects of my daily routine: reality checks, prospective memory training, meditation every night, positive thinking/beliefs, dream journaling. Which leads me to this discussion...

So I really like what you write (under both your new & old name) and I've read these 3 pages here and just want to be sure on some things. I think focus is another key aspect I need to improve on. You've given a lot of examples from page 1 - 3, but it seems on pg 3 it seems pretty specific for newbies (like myself), to put a few weeks effort into about 1 hr each night on thinking of the word "focus." So my interpretation was that of spending an hour in mediation and using the word "focus" sort of like a mantra? I've meditated on breath and on a mantra word before for about 20-30 min average sitting on couch, but last 3 days Ive been doing this with the word focus.

I mediate as soon as lights go out for family. Here is how it went so far:
- Started Tuesday and mediated with mantra "focus" about 40 min. Sort of floundered with how to incorporate the word and ended up using it on out breath.
- Wednesday switched to using focus on both in and out breathes and meditated (eyes closed entire time) almost exactly to the minute 1 hr. :O Focus was amazing in a way.
- Thursday kids drained me so started nodding off at 30 minutes, so finished the rest in bed listening to a law of attraction track. A few times I would get a flash of something in my view but as soon as eyes "look" it would go away. :/

Another thing you mentioned (page 1 maybe?) that I am attempting during any little breaks at my desk job is your suggestion of focusing on a 2d shape (sq, cir, tri). I have to say getting a clear image is harder than I thought. So I am doing this as little brain exercises during the day. Weird how complex images oh like Darth Vader I can see easier than a silly square lol. Is this acceptable as an exercise how I am doing it?

Hopefully I interpreted your comments correctly.  :?
