AstralVibe,

I have done a 30 day fast twice, once with fruit and once with water only.  Both were extremely beneficial for body/mind and spirit.  I guess the main thing I'd say is that after a week you might start getting light headed now and then, and you may go through spells where you feel tired more than usual.  The main thing is to listen to your body and pace yourself.  Rest when you need to.  Unless you feel led to go on beyond 30 days, it might be wise to give your bod a break and ease back into a healthful diet for a few weeks. Your body still needs certain nutriants to stay in balance.

I usually do a water and/or juice fast one day a week.  That has been one of the most beneficial lifestyle changes I've made.  Good luck, DH

Many cultures that have been created by higher civilizations (well...actually all have been created this way) and most are somehow connected to 2012.

I was just thinking how my OBEs (not AP or dream) only happen after a new experience. (Something that you have never done before, or has never happened to you.)  I mean an experience truly new happens before you go OB....... Maybe I should just keep reading about peoples favorite techniques?

I think it happened once.  I had just gotten the news about a new job before I went OB.  Ususally any kind of emotional excitement (whether stress or great joy) is more of a hindrance to me. I have a harder time of focussing.  By all means keep reading.  There are lots of people's experiences online and in books.  DH

The Mayans are very advanced in science and math,
It is not a "Faith" belief, such as the example you used about consulting the Holy Spirit.

They are calculations.

The Mayan understanding of the universe was based upon their observations within their cultural belief system and religious indoctrination.  I still don't see how their calculations are any less a "faith" belief than than the apocalyptic calculations that have come from others groups.  What science (minus the metaphysical slant of course) backs the mayan calculations?  I'm not trying to be difficult.  I'm just a seeker.  DH

William Buhlman's books on AP have helped me a lot.  If you want your mind stretched a bit try some of Story Waters stuff on his web site below.  He has a lot of free reading posted.

hey DH thanks for the prayers but i guess happiness is a long way from me.  or maybe i'm not destined to be happy at all.  god has always hated me from the very beginning.

im thinking of doing two things:  commit suicide or runaway

is there any shelter anyone is familiar within the Virginia area?  i'm willing to work and help pay for electricity, water, and food bills!  please let me know. :-)

i've tried suicide but it think its time i give the runaway idea a try

Sorry, I don't know the Virginia area.  I also don't think you are destined to be unhappy --  unlesss you really believe you are.  I also vote for the runaway idea over suicide; but better yet, do you have a friend with some wisdom you could talk to?   That would probably be the place to start.  My prayers are still with you.  DH   :-)

I have never heard of Islamic terrorists thinking they'll go to heaven with lots of virgins outside of sensationalist news reports.

I know some Muslims who claim to believe it.  Maybe they've just been influenced by sensationalist news reports.

I don't know a lot about the Koran (have read parts of it) but it is my understanding that it is expressly forbidden to kill anyone who is innocent (children being of that category.)  So if any terrorist  has been indoctrinated to ignore that piece of scripture will have a subconscious knowledge of how badly they've messed that up that it will probably plunge them in a version of their self-created hell.  (Just my opinion).

Works for me.

I am surprised that so many of the regular forum members have risen to the original authors post as it clearly was intended to be provocative. Nameless One is probably laughing his or her head off at this point......  and this was, in my opinion, their original intention (notice the humility that the use of the phrase conveys).

You are right, but sometimes it just feels good to let 'er rip!  DH

So, what I'm trying to say (in my long winded way, sigh) is that just because someone accurately predicts the end of a way, doesn't mean that the world is over.  What you believe is up to you- but this is a fascinating subject.
BTW, as to the question of someone mayan to talk to, I don't know if Jose Arguelles is mayan, but he is a present-day student of the mayan calendar, and has written many books on the subject.

You weren't "long winded."  You wrote well!  It's a complex subject.  Thanks for the time.  DH

Thanks for the feedback.  If anyone else wants to add his or her 2 cents worth as to why the mayan vision is accurate and more credible than other endtime scenarios, I'm still open to fact-finding.  DH

How do you consult someone from Mayan civilization?  And how is this different from some of my friends who have "consulted the Holy Spirit" and believe that Jesus is coming back sometime soon?  DH

I approach 2012 with some fascination, with all of the prophecies and studies, etc.  But I just want to know -- why should we believe this apocalyptic vision over the others that have bombarded humankind for thousands of years?  Christian "prophecies" have predicted the second coming of Christ and a new age "in our generation" since the Apostle Paul.  But Christians aren't the only ones.  The New Age predicted by people like David Spangler and others  30 years ago has yet to occur.  And does anyone remember the hype that came from every direction over Y2K?  What a bust!  I'm not trying to dis anyone's beliefs.  There's a lot of what I read about 2012 that sounds good, but I just want to know -- why should we believe this vision over all of the others?  Apocalyptic visions have come and gone and the world still keeps moving on, along with a human population that doesn't seem much more enlightened and civil than its ancient ancestors.   Please convince me why we should believe.    DH

I want to meet god so i can ask him why he made stupid insecure people?  Look people the whole idea that there are some sort of beings out there is pretty messed up i mean come on is 80% of people on this forum screw balls wake up folks there are no angels or gods what the f$&U i mean come on yeah astral projection is real but it does not mean there is a god much less even an afterlife you all make to much stuff up. nine out of ten post on this forum is garbage and i wish i could just rip the excrement out of the server and burn the crap all this about make belive garbage that you folks post on this forum.

I would like to see some more down to earth and rational stuff.

Are you having a stroke?  Calm down.  If you are going to visit these forums, then you know what you have to put up with.  Why put yourself through such stress?  Life is too short to be so bent out of shape, especially if there is no afterlife!  peace, DH

I've read a number of diverse sources that seem to agree that we create our afterlife by what we believe and expect to happen.  Some of the people Raymond Moody interviewed about their near death experiences reported some similarities (like seeing the tunnel and the bright light) but also some big differences (some Christians were greeted by Jesus, some Muslims were greeted by Allah, some Hindu's were greeted by Krishna or another form of the Hindi deity).  That sounds like a self-created heaven to me.

I'm with you CF.....I think I'll start creating a little more spectacular heaven than what I first expected, but one thing ticks me off.....to think that Islamic terrorists might be enjoying themselves in their self-created "virgin filled" heaven as a reward for their brutality......     DH

I love music and I like about every style from heavy metal to classical.  It depends on my mood I guess.  But I've concluded that it's not the music itself that attracts things to me -- both good and bad -- it's my attitude and reinforced belief system in general.  The music might affect that from time to time, but the music in and of itself is neutral.  What affects me in a great way may be negative to another.  Here's to enjoyable listening and good moods.......DH

One time my wife and I were leaving my office with my grandson, Noah,  who was four  at the time.  We needed to cross a street that was usually fairly busy to get to our car.  There was a big gap in the traffic, so rather than walk all the way down to the light and crosswalk, we thought we'd just zip straight across the street.  My wife and I both had our hands full with some stuff we were loading into the car, so I said to Noah, "We're going to run across the street but I can't hold your hand.  Can you be a big boy and help me look both ways for cars?"  He dutifully said, "Yes."  We looked, saw nothing, and I said "Ok" and he started to trot across the street.  In a flash we were shocked when a car raced around the corner at breakneck speed like the driver was being chased (he was, by a cop!) and headed straight for Noah.  My wife and I both screamed at him to get back but he seemed oblivious to us.  At what should have been the moment of impact Noah suddenly stopped dead in his tracks and went flying back, like he had hit an invisible wall!  My wife and I looked at each other like, "What the.....?" but were immensely relieved that he was ok.

That was weird, but what happened a couple of hours later was weirder.  A friend called me up, one I hadn't talked to in about a month.  We made a little small talk, and then he said, "Well, actually I was calling about Noah.  Is he ok?  I had this strange sense that something was wrong."  I said something to the effect, "Oh, he's ok as far as I know."  My friend said, "The feeling got so strong that I felt like I needed to do something, but I didn't know what to do except just say a prayer for him -- that he'd be ok."  Suddenly I was having a strange feeling, and I asked, "When did this feeling come over you?"  He said, "It happened at 1:30 -- a couple of hours ago.  I remember because I looked at my watch."  Guess what time we were crossing the street?  That's right!  It was 1:30!  Since that time I have determined that whenever someone pops in my mind and won't go away, I focus all of the positive energy I can on him or her -- just in case!  That's my strangest "miracle."  Thank you all for sharing your stories.  They are all wonderful.   :-)  DH

SS_Patrick,
You've brought up some interesting points.  About karma -- the philosophical systems I've read necessarily link karma and reincarnation -- that is, it's the karma that leads to the incarnations.  If there is no karma, what causes the many incarnations?  DH

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / C-PAP AND OBE
January 23, 2007, 22:57:24
Has anyone tried to go OB while using a c-pap machine for sleep apnea?  A friend of mine may need to use one in the near future and he's worried that it will mess up his ability to go OB.  I told him I had no clue but would ask around.  Anyone had any experience with this?  DH

Thanks for sharing!  We have come to some very similar conclusions about reality, and it's nice not to feel like the Lone Ranger (I live around a lot of skeptics and flyblown cynics!).  I think that OBE is definitely underrated.  I have been on a consciously spiritual journey most of my adult life, and I nearly turned into one of those cynics until I discovered the worlds beyond the material world.  Now life makes more sense, and  it's exciting again since new (and really cool) things can be learned at any moment.  William Buhlman's writings have been particularly helpful to me as kind of a matrix for understanding the importance of OBE for personal fulfillment.  Keep learning and sharing and blessings upon you, DH

Any of the four factors could have contributed.  In my own experience, I do better on my back, but I have projected from my side.  I have also projected after drinking alcohol (though I wasn't "shnockered"!) and maybe twice on painkillers.  On the whole though, I do better when I start off clear headed.  I think practice and attitude have a lot to do with success, and it sounds like you'll eventually reach your goal.  Power to you!

MK,

Thanks for sharing.

We all have our "dark night of the soul" when it seems like things are way out of control and might even not be right again.  Some of us are less prone to admit it!

Each day is an opportunity to grow and learn.  I agree that sleep dep is a harder way to go about it.  It does wear down the physcial self.  I have learned the hard way.  When I was 21 years old (I'm now 53), I could handle that, and a lot of other idiotic habits,  but  I was on a path to "flame out" real quick.  A lot of my friends didn't make it out of the 1960's-80's.  A wise person said, "Trust me!  There's a fulfilling life of love and joy here if you give yourself a chance!"

It's cool to "be free" and explore the inner depths of spirit, but there is much I still want to experience on this physical plane with my family and friends before I move on.  I have more appreciation for taking care of the physical body now than I did when I was younger.  I'm all into acheiving OBE's and other meaningful "spiritual" experiences, but I've found more joy in finding them through peaceful meditation.  I feel better physically too!  May you find what you are looking for through the grace of love and peace,
DH.
