Hallo SCS
I agree with KyleVonGore in that you probably had a Partial OBE where some, but not all, of your subtle astral/ethereal body separated from the physical. You were Very close to getting fully out of body and hopefully that will happen the next time. So keep at it and good luck.

Hello 8bit
The question about astral people being objective beings Or just mental creations (like dream characters) has come up before in many other threads. I really think that the only way to know for sure is to ask that astral person outright.
Personally I would want to know if an astral being Was a real threat Before committing a violent act. Acting rashly and violently can have a way of boomeranging back if you're not careful.

Wow, Lionheart, You and I posted almost the exact same message -- about asking the astral girl questions  -- almost at the exact same time. I'm sure that its probably only a coincidence though this has never happened to me before!!  :-o

Greetings ATTOJ
First of all I think you are fortunate to have a family member with whom you can talk to about OBEs and AP and discuss these experiences with. Actually that situation is quite rare.
Regards your questions.
1. People encountered in the astral during an OBE or AP are normally of three types ---
i) other live people who are also experiencing either an OBE or a dream,
ii) non-physical (dead) people who permanently inhabit the astral, or
iii) thought creations/dream characters created by the OBEers' own mind.
These 3 types can be encountered in combination of ways and it is often difficult to tell one type from the other.
2. If they had been doing drugs then the blank stares would be a result of those drugs
3. Yes, very possible. In the astral like-minded people usually attract one another and end up in the same place. Not saying that your sister is a druggie. But for that night alone it Is possible that part of her mind/psyche ended up in a (depressingly) familiar atmosphere.
4. Yes, again, but of course it is very hard to know for sure.

QuoteI felt a slight buzzing in my head when I said to myself "OMG, I am actually in the astral". However, I did not want to escape or change the scenario of the experience, because it was too cool and I wanted to see what was going to happen.

A Very good move on your part. This has also happened to me on occasion. An interesting dream has become an OBE and I try to exercise too much control and the experience suddenly Ends?!?  :?
So in later experiences I learned to just go with it and, as you aptly put it, "see what was going to happen".

Hallo 8bit
During an OBE Books can be portals to other realms of nonphysical space. I have had several interesting experiences with books during dreams and one memorable OBE, titled "Magickal History Book" which can be read on Page 3 of my journal at Astral Dynamic. For anyone interested in reading that the link is here --

Lurking is okay because I do it as well. I just read posts in a forum for a few weeks or months trying to decide if I want to become a member of that site. You made a good choice because AstralPuulse Is worth joining. I look forward to reading your posts in these forums.

It might be comforting to know that Many people had OBEs as a child and never knew what they were. And that includes me btw. One positive aspect of those experiences is that you Do have a natural ability to go out of body. Now, as an adult, the next Big step would be to learn how to consciously induce OBEs with a deliberate induction method.

Hallo mcdwg
I also opine that you did have an OBE. My reasoning is using deductive logic. A lucid dream is an experience where the dreamer clearly realizes that he or she is dreaming. So if you were not aware of it being a dream then it must have been an OBE.
Thanx for sharing.

Contenteo, Thanx, I appreciate the nice words. There are two more OBEs I need to post here, including one that happened just two days ago. So stay tuned.  :-)

I too am quite hopeful that Robert Bruce did have a similar experience. Something like that has never happened to me before. So, again, if he does respond with a positive reply then I will post it here.

Greetings everybody  :-)
After another lapse in updating I will relate a recent OBE. This one occurred in early March. Read through to find out which well known person I saw while out of body.
This OBE is titled ----

"Arena"
[/b]
Monday March 5, 2012 (OBE # 115)
The first recollection was being inside a large arena. There was a vague memory of getting there by walking several miles on rural roads. It was an unfamiliar area and the best guess is that this location is a nonphysical belief system territory.
The arena was nearly filled to capacity. With only a few empty seats well over 10,000 people were there, probably between 12,000 to 15,000 people. A basketball (?) game was being played there. I was not interested in this game and spent the time looking at the various people who were there.
Consciousness was not clear so memory is sketchy. Robert Bruce was seated a row in front of me a few seats to the left. For some reason I did not introduce myself? Soon the game was over so the crowd began to leave. I waited until most spectators had left and then followed a large group of people along several corridors into a food court. Although I was hungry this place was so dark and dinghy that I passed up on getting something to eat.
Then I realized that my light coat was still back at my seat and so attempted to retrace the path back to there. Yet after a short time I got lost and somehow ended up outside. Then I walked halfway around the building looking for another entrance but could not get back inside. Suddenly I was wearing a sport coat that had a set of keys in the pocket (keys to a house?). Now, apparently satisfied regarding the coat, I decided to set out for 'home'.
The arena was on a major four lane road. After walking for only a few minutes I realized that it was possible to fly. Getting airborne was easy. Flying was easy as well. There was one difficulty - I could only fly either very slow (= walking speed) or fast (about 25 mph). Flying fast required picking out an object about 100 yards ahead and then flying straight at that object.
This method of flight worked well for 5 to 10 minutes. Unfortunately staring straight ahead meant losing focus everywhere else so I accidentally passed an intersection and missed a left turn to another road. It was difficult to slow down, turn around and go back 200 yards to the intersection. Also a motorcyclist rode by beneath me causing a severe loss in concentration. To compensate I took a short cut by angling half-right over yards and houses. This worked well and soon I was flying over that other road about 100 yards from the intersection.
That annoying motorcylcist was there again disrupting my concentration. The distraction was so bad that I actually flew backwards for over 50 yards. Finally overcoming this obstacle I got back up to speed again by concentrating on an object (telephone pole or tree usually) 100 yards or so ahead and flying straight at it. I was covering 100 yards in only 8 to 10 seconds so was flying at a speed of 20 to 25 mph. This flight lasted between 5 and 10 minutes than I just reintegrated and woke up.
Notes. Time was between 7:30 and 8:30 AM. Duration was at least 15 minutes, maybe as long as 1 hour. I lay on my right side. Consciousness varied considerably, it was weak at the start. There was more to this OBE before being inside the arena of which I cannot remember. Focus gradually improved until it was very clear during flight. A failure was in not remembering any goals including visiting Astral Pulse Island or any other nonphysical locations from past OBEs. OBE #115 location was a nonphysical BST. There were many nonphysical (discarnate) people there. Only one person, Robert Bruce, was 'familiar' (in that I know about him yet have never met him). Deliberate (passive), Emotional, Flight, Game, Teleport, Affirmations (before), Meditation (before), Pranayama (before), Rope cargo net (before).

So I posted in the "Ask Robert Bruce Forum" over at Astral Dynamics just on the outside chance that he had either a physical or nonphysical experience in an arena about the time of this OBE.
Any positive response from Robert Bruce will be posted here.  8-)

In addition to the reading suggestions made by Szaxx I also recommend reading as many threads in the "Welcome to Astral FAQ Forum" as possible.
BTW Are you rooting for Manchester City or Manchester United to win the Premier title? The season ends this week, does it not?

Hallo WiZe
During that initial sequence, just before the OBE where you

QuoteI'm laying down in my bed, and I enter what feels kind of like a dream. I go use the restroom, or something I'm not quite sure what it was but I return to my room with my phone in my hand and I'm thinking that this was weird because I was just lying down trying to AP

that was most probably a False Awakening. I suspect that you had actually fallen asleep and dreamed about stepping out of the room with the iPhone. Then you went back to bed and had the OBE proper.

You asked
QuoteDo you need to have your intentions already set when you AP ? Is that what keeps bringing me back to my body so quickly ?

The answer is no but it certainly does help to have the intentions set prior to going out of body. And I think it was probably the close proximity of your physical body which quickly ended the OBE. The physical body Does exert a strong pull on the astral/ethereal body which often times abruptly ends an OBE.

Greetings all
Xanth, right, though we do not always agree this time I concur 100%. A person is either aware that they are dreaming or they are not aware. So once a person becomes aware that he/she is dreaming (at any level) then the experience becomes a lucid dream. This argument is More than just semantics because it is Logically correct whereas the opposite (ie it Not being a LD when one is aware of dreaming) is logically false. (BTW Any Logicians care to challenge that premise, it might be interesting?).
AND, while on the subject IMO this same premise also answers All of those (seemingly numerous) threads that are titled "Was this an OBE or a Lucid Dream?". Because again, if the person was not aware that he/she was dreaming then the experience, (By definition = semantics + logic) could NOT have been a Lucid dream.
Good thread Xanth

This is Very shocking news and I am deeply distressed. You are one of the rock solid cores of Astral Pulse and it will be a disaster if you leave. You are obviously Very passionate about education and rightly so. It's just a Big shame that an issue Not related to OBEs, APs, dreams and other spiritual phenomena is driving you away. Perhaps if you take some time off from these forums you might reconsider.
If you Do go then I will continue to stay in touch with you via AstralDynamics and other sites.

Hallo Szaxx
That was a very cool experience, Participating in a type of astral Olympics in an Old West BST!  8-)
Many other people have reported seeing two (or more) versions of themselves while out of body (apart from their physical body). Hindu, occultists and theosophists speak of each person having several different bodies, physical body, astral body, dream body, mental body, causal body, etc so maybe you saw one or more forms of those other 'you'.

Those paintings were all portals (stargates) to other nonphysical realms and dimensions. I had an OBE early last year where I moved into and through a magickal book that took me someplace in North Africa or the MidEast (Libya probably). Robert Bruce also wrote about going into a painting while out of body. He explored the country area near an old house that was the focus of the painting.

Hallo shineling
That quaint mountain village must have been a nonphysical location because All the residents could see and interact with you. Probably a small BST were all the inhabitants opted for an idyllic (after-) life style over the hustle and bustle of modern (nonphysical) cities.

You had an OBE and that Has happened to me. During many of my OBEs I have seen people who were undoubtedly also out of body. Nobody has ever mistaken me for a spirit guide though :?.
Getting lost is standard operating procedure for me as I often end up in unfamiliar nonphysical locations. Regards not being able to get back to the physical body  -- that is usually the easy part for most people. Getting out and staying out of body is much harder.

I find the sasquatch/yeti phenomenon Very interesting and have seen a Lot of videos of supposed sasquatch filmed in the wild. No doubt Most of those videos are hoaxes but it only takes One authentic video to prove the creature does exist.

Hallo 8bit.
That is a wide variety of OBEs, thanx for sharing them.
Your attempt to try to scare your sister was actually a good idea! Because If she had seen you out of body that would have verified the OBE.
Most of those OBEs took place inside your house. Many people do have trouble getting outside their house or apartment when out of body. Sometimes a special reason is needed. Perhaps trying to visit a friend who lives only a block or two away will provide the motivation for getting out of the house.

Cheers  8-)

Dreams are fascinating in themselves and can also be doorways for going into OBEs. Becoming aware in a dream can also lead to a lucid dream which can be an exhilarating experience.
