I am an honest person.   I am serious about ap but not that serious.   I want to change that.   When I wake up in the mornings I keep making excuses why I should not practice.   I really want to ap badly so I will have to change my ways.    I will get back into it again.  Lionheart how serious are you?    How often do you practice?

Astralzombie said it well.    Sometimes when we try to do things we are unable to do it.   In time it can become easier.   Try saying to yourself I can do it it is easy, particularly when you are trying to leave your body.   It happened to me a long time ago.

Thanks Lionheart.   It sounds great.   If you feel like you are snorkeling or scuba diving when you are using the session, you could spiritually be there doing it.

After about like one hour I got what I think were the vibrations, I read in numerous placed that you should just lay down calmly and wait for them to pass, so that's what I did. It didn't take long and they were gone.
That is where you are going wrong.   You do not wait for the vibrations to pass otherwise it will be the end of the ap.   As soon as you get the vibrations try to get out.    That is the time to do it.   If your mind is very relaxed then you do not have to do anything.   You will automatically ap.   That is me.    I realise what works for one person may not work for another person.

Machine that is great.   What you described you can ap.   You just have to do it and it will happen.   That machine sounds exciting.   I wonder how it works.   You open your eyes and observe and when you feel you are very relaxed you know you are close to ap.  You close your eyes and try to ap.  I suppose that is what you do.   I do not know.  Is it hard to use?   Do you just press a button and you get the water scene or is it more complicated?   Just curious.

Thank you all for your replies.   I really appreciate it.   I now realise that I did not react  badly.   It was just a normal reaction.   If it happens again, I will be better prepared so I will handle it better.   I would like to tell my husband about it but unfortunately it would not achieve anything.    My husband thinks when you are dead you are dead.   That is the end of you.   I would never be able to convince him.   I have tried to in the past but I was not able to persuade him.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / I reacted badly
December 01, 2013, 07:48:16
Hi all, I reacted badly.   What do you think of this?  I did not sleep first.   I was meditating and I felt a hand on my back.   I tried to physically call out but I was not able to.   I was trying to get away but I could not move.   I said, spiritually why are you doing this and who are you?   A male voice said, I am Peter.   I said I do not know you.   He said he knew me in a previous life.    I struggled for a short while and I was able to wake up.   I felt I reacted badly.   I should not have reacted like that.   Now that I am typing this, I remembered who Peter was.   Peter was my husband's brother who passed away two days ago on Friday.    It is a shame I am not able to tell my husband about this.   He does not believe in ap.    I was not asleep.   I was awake.

It does not matter what anything thinks.   If you like it that is the most important thing.   You are more likely to ap if you enjoy what you are doing.  There is no wrong.    There are thousands of different techniques.

I just wanted to say what you did was brilliant.   Well done.   Xanth had great suggestions.

I have not read what the others said so I could be saying the same thing.   I only read your thread heading.
I always meditate and I have never had a problem with breathing.    I keep breathing and then when a vibration happens I forget about breathing.  I just stay relaxed.   I have never thought about breathing so I had to think about why it is not a problem for me.

You can ap when you can see through your closed eye lids.
#412
I agree Xanth, you just have to accept it.

Hi all, the best way to ap from my opinion, is
Try when you are not rushed for time
Get plenty of sleep until you do not want to sleep anymore
Get in a comfortable position
Believe you can ap, tell yourself I can do this and I will succeed
Breathe deeply and slowly for up to five to ten breaths
Breathe normally.   When your mind starts to feel relaxed then you know you can do an ap technique
It works.   I ap this morning by doing that.

Provided the numb feeling is an ob sensation and it is not other reasons then you are getting close to ap.   When you feel dissociated from your body you are close as well.
#415
Xanth is correct.   You do not need to do energy raising to ap.   I think people want you to do it so they can sell their course or book.  They try to make ap more complicated so they can sell something.   If you think you need to do energy raising to ap then you are more likely need to do it.   If you do not think you need to then you do not need to.   I have ap a number of times and I do not do energy raising.
#416
They are all good signs.   From my experiences when you see things then you can ap from it.
#417
I agree with what you said, you can spend a heap of money and still not ap.   Perhaps the reason why you cannot ap is because you sit on a kitchen chair.   I assume it is uncomfortable.   I could not ap by sitting on an uncomfortable chair.   It can be done but I think it would be a lot harder to do.   I used to lie down on my back on a very thin mattress but I stopped doing that as my back starts to feel sore after a while.   When I want to lie on my back I now use another thin mattress as well so my back will not get sore.  One more tip, make sure you are not trying too hard to ap as that can prevent you from aping.   You can put pressure on yourself.   We do not want that.   We have to stay calm and relaxed.
#418
Lionheart is correct.   You do not need the beats.   You can use the beats if you think it will make it easier.

Thanks Gala.   This morning I ap.   I am really happy about that.    I was aware and previously I have not been able to stay out long.   I stayed out quite a while and I was focused.   I was in my room and I could see things clearly.   I went outside and I was flying.   I could feel the wind.   It was a great experience but I did not write it down when the ap ended.    Hours later I do not remember much about it.    I think this will persuade me to write it down when I wake up.   I have been told many times to do it.   I am also going to look at a candle flame every day to help improve my concentration.    If you cannot concentrate you are more likely to miss the ap and you will fall asleep.

Hi all, I have been practicing meditation in the afternoons or early evenings most days of the week for many months.   I can now get my body deeply relaxed but my body sometimes jerks or moves.  I am not 100% certain that it is my body jerking.   It could be my inner self that moves. I know it is a common problem.    I will have to keep practicing and hope I will get passed it.    Does this happen to you a lot?   When I practice ap early in the mornings it does not happen.   I usually ap.    I suppose the solution is simple and that is not to practice ap in the afternoons or early evenings.   Whether I succeed or not I will keep trying.   My goal is to ap whenever I want to.

Hi, I've also OBEd and gone to see the girlfriend at the time a few times, and even had interractions.  But on each occasion she has no memory of the event. I also got some details of her room completely wrong.
My experiences (and yours with the looks of it) would be a field day for the sceptics for OBE I'm afraid!

It is possible you got the correct details of her bedroom.    I read in a book the same thing happened to this person.    She was disappointed and later on she realised that she got it right as it was in the future.

You were extremely close to ap.

I've been trying to separate but have failed every time. I sit there and count from 99 to 0 to stay aware and get my body to sleep, but all that happens is I end up lying there for 60-90 minutes getting bored. Nothing actually happens. I don't get any hypnagogic imagery. I don't feel any vibrations, sleep paralysis or sensations of floating. I just seem to be relaxed and in a state of nothingness.  I try the "mind awake/body" asleep mantra and still no success.

So lately I've been trying a different approach. I try to be a passive observer and just watch the hypnagogic imagery without being pulled into it. But I fail at that too. I read the technique is after a while you have to step into the dream. What happens is I fall asleep almost instantly as soon as the imagery starts. There have been a few times I caught myself snoring but it never went further than that.

I just don't know what to do. I tried to create my own landscape in my mind and engage all the senses. I can do that, but then my body wouldn't fall asleep. I tried to visualise a rope but that hasn't worked at all. Every night I either fall asleep or lay there with nothing happening. I'd sincerely appreciate any help or advice.
This may not be you.   This is how I am.   I can relate to you as I am having a dry spell at the moment.    I have not been trying a lot but it gets frustrating when it does not work.   I am not worried about it.    I know I will ap again and get back into it.   There are times when I am lying there and nothing happens.    The reason I think is because a part of me does not want to make the effort.   I want to go to sleep.   This may not be you.    To ap you really have to want to ap not just half wanting to ap.    There are times when I do make the effort and I do not ap.   I have been trying at a harder time to ap.   I have been trying in the afternoon or evening.    The best time to ap for a lot of people is you have some sleep first and when you wake up, then try to ap.    You have to feel relaxed, particularly your mind.    If your mind feels agitated it will be harder to ap.    When you start to feel bored it is better to get up and do something for a while then try again.    I find it a waste of time if you lie there for a long time and you have had enough.   Forget the vibrations.   It is not important as you do not have the get vibrations to ap.    If you think of getting the vibrations that might prevent you to ap as your mind has to be relaxed.   When you feel that you are relaxed and in a state of nothingness you could do an ap technique.   That might work.    When you do an ap technique, really think you are doing that activity.   Do not think of your body as that will end it.

When you watch the hypnagogic imagery your mind has to be extremely relaxed or it will likely fail.    You cannot think of anything.   You can spiritually get out of yourself but most people do not seem to like doing that.

I have imagined things as well and it does not work probably for the same reason as you.    Your mind has to be very relaxed.   Have you tried meditating?    Meditating is very helpful.    It can help a lot to ap.    There are times when I fall asleep.    I think everyone does.    I think when it happens is because I have lost concentration.    You cannot afford to loose concentration.    If you do not concentrate for that one moment you can fall asleep.   At that moment you were likely to ap but you switched off.

Welcome to Astral Pulse Island! / Re: I will try

That sounds like good advice from Szaxx.    Sometimes listening to nothing is best.    It is peaceful and quiet.   Do not get too disappointed Windsong that you did not ap.   It happens to me.   I think it happens to everyone.    I have learnt not to worry about it.   There is always next time.    I think we will keep getting better with practice.    It is like a runner or a swimmer practicing to get better.

a quick question about the rope method.
while climbing do you imagine yourself climbing through the roof, or...?
with this method i visualize then climb up but in 4-5 grabs im at the ceiling, but most awareness still in body :(
would it be better to imagine the ceiling as an infinite darkness with rope / infinite climbing until out?

and thanks that was a big help didn't know there was a  time limit. a lot of attempts i would be trying to do it slowly.

From my way of doing it, you may be different as I am learning people have their way of doing it, you do not have to feel or see the rope.    That is not a requirement.   You imagine you are climbing a rope.   It does not have to be a rope.   It could be anything.   You know when you are out of your body when you feel like you are moving, just like you are physically moving.   It feels very real.   It is a great feeling.   You may not be able to see very well but that does not matter.   All you have to do is say, I can see now.    About the time limit, do not rush it as the mind has to be relaxed.   There is plenty of time.   If you think you wrecked it, still try again.  Stay still and stay calm.   You may be surprised that it worked.    When you are doing a technique do not think about your body or your partner next to you.   Once time I was about to ap and I was thinking about my husband next to me.   That ended the ap.
