Welcome to Magic! / ...A Ring Appeared...

Greeting's...

So I begin my first post...with a true story...

About a year ago I was sitting on my bed and I took off all the rings I had on my fingers and had a sudden urge to throw them up in the air...when the rings came back down a silver, intwined ring appeared...I looked up and realized it semi resembled my Celtic Cross tapestry that was given to me by a stranger...I've only told a select few...and wear it on my wedding ban in hopes it will bring me to the "ONE"...and have a fear or removing...the ring fits just perfect...

Can anyone assist me with finding answers...be it a book or a spiritual advisor?

Thank Thee,

Sonya
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">Hi Scartwink,

Welcome to the forum!

The appearance or apparent materialisation of an object such as your ring out of thin air is called an Apport. Correspondingly were an object to disappear it might be considered an Asport! The www.occultopedia.com definition is: -

'An object (such as a piece of jewelry, money, fruit or flowers, even live animals) which supposedly materializes out of nothing in the presence of a medium [edit]anyone really.

During the height of spiritualism in the late nineteenth century, the production of apports, or 'apporting', was a common feature at seances — the live dove was a popular favourite. Most mediums said the objects were gifts from the spirits, but many were later exposed as frauds, being discovered with objects hidden in their clothing to produce just at the right moment during the seance, which were usually held in darkened rooms, making sleight-of-hand much easier. See seance, materialization and asport.'

Most people you know about these things would be absolutely chuffed to bits, and dead jealous of your gift(s) [:)]

Hope this helps,

Welcome to Dreams! / Video Game Lucid Dream?
July 12, 2004, 04:10:18
Hi Nrishiraj,

I used (emphasis on used) to get similar some 10 or 12 yrs ago after marathon sessions playing the PC version of Doom. I found it quite unnerving to find myself awaken as if in the middle of say a particular level unable to go no further etc. Eventually during one dream I decided I'd had enough of this do dah, and somehow went lucid. As a result I eventually charged right through to the end game! After that I got exceptionally bored of the whole gaming thing (boo hoo you may say), and never had to face the fiery blobs (dream) again etc.

The subconscious mind re-enacts everyday events – especially those which involve problem solving. So obviously video games are notorious for catalysing this type of dream work!

Are they really worth the time and effort?

Hi,

Are you practicing breath awareness while lying down or on your bed? If so, you may be subconsciously associating this with sleep. Try practicing in a seated position as an example.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

I was been lazy. OK - to quote from the Astral Dynamic glossary: 'A harmless but disturbing (often frightening) manifestation, where a projector is confronted by a dark, threatening being immediately after exiting the physical body during an OBE!

Obviously there is more to it than that, but hope this summary gives you the basic idea.

Hi,

Sounds like a 'dweller on the threshold' experience. See Astral Dynamics p507-508. Or do a search via the option above. It can't you any harm.

Hi FT,

I wasn't asking really, but to add to my previous post... it reminded me of myself (in a terse way) at your age. Living through the height of the Ulster conflict, impending global Armageddon (the cold war for those who remember)... Part of my peer group's escape was sort of more through reading the likes of Chariots of the Gods, Sci-Fantasy... warmly recommend Michael Moorcok books Dancers at the end of time etc.

Oddly it was about your age that I took up my 1st interest in attempting conscious Astral Projection. Your post reminded me as it was 1975 (makes me feel ancient ha ha)!

At the time I had a different barrier to yours, as I had been reading Sylvan Muldoon book (it well may have been an ancient hard back copy of Projection of the Astral Body) as borrowed from the local lending library. I had been flummoxed by his comments on the silver cord. If I can recollect correctly he had said something like the cord would only reach a certain extension, and then the Astral Body would be pulled back to the physical one (at that time most AP books whittered on about this as other authors probably borrowed from his texts anyhow). So somehow this idea prevented me from travelling far at the time and I sort of nearly gave up on my OBE practice. Certainly it suffered and sagnated, but then everyday life issues pulled me away from AProj for a while, as they have occasion to do! [:)]

So in a sense it is easy to allow an idea to germinate which creates false barrier not only in say OBE success, but also in any other type of thinking! So do not have to believe everything you read [;)].

Anyhow I have muttered on enough for now,

Kind wishes,

Stephen

P.S.

Thinking of Muldoon et all: by the way I recently came across (for pennies) a 2nd hand copy of a beautifully illustrated Time Life book under their Mysteries of the Unknown series entitled 'Psychic Voyages' (3rd reprint 1987) - ISBN 0 7054 06709. Not sure if it is still available? The book is primarily about Astral Projection, but also NDE experiences. The text is a potted history up to that time (only 144 pages), but worth seeking all the same!

It has come to light, however, and this is really embarrassing to say, that I have a tiny urge to do something that isn't exactly "good."

What I mean is, whenever I see a film or a documentary on a murderer of some sort, or a rapist, or maybe some high school bullies that were so obsessed over a certain "freak" that they ended up killing him, whenever I see something like that I get this urge. The urge is to go into the astral realm at night and to "walk" into other people's dreams. The dreams of the killers, the people that I feel a need to exact revenge on for their crimes against both me, my friends, and others. When I see things like that or hear of them, I want to walk into the dreams and torment them for tormenting others. I want to show their subconscious what their conscious mind had done. I want to throw their ego into conflict with itself, by showing it all the wrongdoings the person had done and literally putting him/her into the other people's shoes in their dreams.

It seems you may be tending towards the (semi-fictional) Dream Hunter:-

The goal of the dream hunters is to ''plunge into other people's dreams and sleep and from them extract little pieces of Adam-the-precursor's being, composing them into a whole...''

See: Dictionary of the Khazars!

Going into realms of the unbridled imagination then are we then (Ho Hum), but then it could be a simply calling to learn how to weigh the scales of justice in your minds eye! Are you really as young as you say? [;)]

Hi Fat_Turkey,

I think that Upstream's analysis is a bit stern to be honest, but has elements of truth in it! I would be more economical in my approach!

Obviously you have done your reading on the subject of sleep paralysis. But you are lucky as you have the power of knowledge at your hands. So if you ever do experience this then you have an opportunity to face your fears fair and square. You might say well that is fair enough just saying that! For myself I have had a few episodes of sleep paralysis, but not for some considerable time (we are talking decades). The last significant occasion was some 20 odd years ago and I experienced all the classic symptoms and I was not practicing OBE techniques at the time, although I had done some years earlier during my teens. I did not dwell on the experience overly, although it came to mind on occasion as something I needed to find understanding about! So it took quite some time for me to digest what may have occurred and it was not really until reading about waking paralysis in Robert Bruce's Treatise on Astral Projection about 5 yrs ago that the penny dropped. Which was a great relief as you can imagine. So you are lucky really as you again have the benefit of knowledge in your hands!

I have also have overcome a number of repetitive thought patterns similar to what you are experiencing, but for other underlying issues. You may find benefit in finding relief from this by using a practical method like say Core Image work! Alternatively if you have other sources of stress in your life at this time (or have recently come through a difficult time), then consider a big review of your life style!

Perhaps take up a new sport or something like Chi Gung, or even bongo drumming for instance! Certainly seek something to enable you to let go!!!

Hope this is of some help,

Stephen [:)]

Hi Odyssey,

Look like you are doing better than you think, and you are not alone with this type of experience and there is really nothing to fear here! I appreciate is can be unnerving, but I have had similar before including an occurrence only a couple of weeks ago!

I suspect you may have gone out of body, but as you were disturbed by your furry friend your physical body awoke and you perceived your astral body trying to get back to you. The accentuated tingly feeling tends to go hand in hand with this! This is covered in Astral Dynamics under 'The Mind Split Effect, but also in Robert Bruce's treatise on Astral Projection (see: article on the main site).

Regarding astral vision: next time you experience muddy or a lack of apparent sight, consciously try to ask for more focus and you should find your astral vision becoming clear!

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Easy up coyboy [;)]

There are a 101 methods out there! Regardless of method the key is to be focused yet relaxed! Perhaps Tisha's article 'Keys to Successful OBE' from the file library (above) might help.

See: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/portal_articles.asp?catid=3&Title=Keys%20to%20Successful%20OBE&LinkID=144&expand=true&area=3

Here is a section to give you a flavor: -

II. RELAX!
Total relaxation is the second key to a peaceful, controlled out-of-body
experience. Practices such as meditation or yoga can help you achieve relaxation;
however, given the stresses of modern society, you will probably need to meditate and
contort yourself 12 or more hours a day before you achieve the physical and mental
states needed for an OBE. Most people can hardly squeeze in a few minutes worth
of energy work per week, which is better than nothing, but not enough. You need to
do more than just meditate or practice your lotus position.
Mental relaxation is as critical to OBE as physical relaxation. You can yoga
yourself into a pretzel, but if your monkey-brain is chattering 24-7 or spinning out of
control with anxieties, you are not going to OBE. It is imperative that you create a
peaceful, relaxed life for yourself if you are to make a regular practice of deliberately
leaving your body. Given this basic truth, what are the sources of stress in your life?

thanks.

Hi Mackenzie,

Your comment is quite valid!

It was just that I was just using words to differentiate between contemplative forms of meditation, and a meditation which involves connection with spirit as described earlier - therefore the use of the word 'attunement' seems appropriate! If one wanted to connect with their guides, helpers, inspirers then one would simply ask that they make you aware of their presence by inviting them into your field of awareness. Of course you would ask for your 'own highest guide to draw close' etc. Rather than any old entity!

I also wanted to add emphasis in the importance of sitting for spirit generally to 'build' or 'sit in the power' of spirit as a separate state from having active communication with spirit! The sitting in the power type exercise is a bit like practicing in preparation for communication, as it is very useful in developing ones awareness or sensitivity. In circle or development groups something akin to this is often used near the start and or the end of a session. The medium tutor will attune with spirit at the same time and often observe how the students (sitting) are fairing. Later they would be able to validate their experiences by providing feedback as guidance. For this level of practice the tutor would monitor each student in turn in order to ensure that they had reached suitable states (altered) of awareness or trance. On a basic level this would include ensuring that each person was not sitting simply in a inner focused or at the other end of the spectrum in say in a deep trance state.

Does that help?

A few questions, Do you believe we all have spirit guides? And how do you test ones spirit guide to see if they really are guides? (what I am thinking about here is.. can you "attune" with negs? can they come in contact with you in this way?).

Anyway, Bring on the technique and if you have some do's and dont's they are also welcome. I appreciate the help Stephen  [:)]

Hi Bluejay,

Appreciate that you initially posted the thread in one of the astral forums areas. I moved it to Spiritual Development forum, but appreciate it has cross-over into Communications section. Anyhow I will respond initially from a Spiritual Development point of view, and then move to attempting to relate this to communications.

Before seeking to explore communication with spirits and entities I feel it is important first and foremost  to resolve or work on the inner connection with ones own spirit. The seeking of a connection with ones higher aspect brings one in closer contact with the divine source of creation/great spirit/god.

The seeking of this connection is a calling of heart to heart of the unifying principle of our true selves. We as divine aspects of the 'greater all' seek only to reunite with the oneness that we all find eventually to be our truest calling! In this life we can choose to play out whatever play we wish, but we are forged by lessons which bring understanding of greater truths and we move on a journey (of souls) ever onwards (and upwards) to the place of love unbounded – our real home amongst the stars!

It please me no end that you might wish to seek attunement with your guides. Whether guides, inspirers or helpers are separate entities from the self (that you identify with now) is another question, and one I like many continually seek to understand. Whether they appear as separate personalities from the self or not they can bring great benefit to you and through you to others, which can be only a good thing indeed!

Concern about communication and the influence of negative entities is something widely discussed on this forum and I would prefer to hold fire discussing this concern in any depth on this thread. However it is something I have had some small dealing with! Yet when push comes to shove - I have always had help and protection when faced with such things. If you take the seeking of your connection with your true highest aspect, are mindful of your divine nature, and therefore constant connection with god (call it god the father, mother, Great Spirit or whatever positive creative aspect of divinity) - then you should not go far wrong when attuning with spirit inspirers and loved ones when ready. If tests come along the way to challenge you, then be comforted by the fact that you are coming from a place of highest good intention & love, and that you will find a means or assistance in overcoming negative influences if they have occasion to arise - do trust in that!

What is attunement with spirit? I had this explained to me some time ago as I also found it difficult to differentiate between a 'meditation' and 'attunement'. It seems that attunement is in great part what I have described in the above paragraph, whereas meditation (although not all types – and this is a subject of debate anyhow) might be explained in simple terms as going within! An attunement with spirit in simple terms again is expansive awareness way beyond the self. It does not mean that one goes out of body as per in OBE practice (although one may well do so), but one is still more usually still conscious of the body or connection with the body whilst at the same time connecting with spirit. On an individual basis with say an inspirer or loved one it might be as per the British Medium Betty Shine a mind to mind connection. Similarly if one were connection on a psychic level with another person (in body) then that would also be a mind to mind awareness of sorts. Although it is actually better described as more spirit to spirit as mind to mind might imply that psychics are mind reading when they attune with the clients for instance! Perhaps a better explanation is that they are more likely attuning with the auric aspect of the mind, body, spirit of an individual.

So to attuning with ones own spirit is simply recognising oneself as a holy being and opening oneself with the connection with god, but with loving respect for ones divine nature. It helps to be mindful of positive principles when choosing to start to seek god consciousness. Something like the '7' principles of spiritualism would be suitable, although personally I prefer not to envisage a patriarchal divinity. '7' principles of spiritualism: -

The Fatherhood of God
The Brotherhood of Man
The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels
The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul
Personal Responsibility
Compensation and Retribution Hereafter for all the Good or Evil Deeds done on Earth
Eternal Progress Open to every Human Soul

Least I offend certain sensitivities - However I am not trying to espouse spiritualism here!

Or perhaps one might prefer a Yogic, Hermetic, Christian, Pagan or whatever 'positive' growth promoting creed as suits one's personal belief system. If for instance you are not really sure where you are at this time - you might find for instance Robert Bruce's Catch Basket article inspiring see: http://www.astralpulse.com/articles/robert/articles_44.htm

Early in his workshop last year in Wales he explained (in other words, and he can correct me if I have misquoted), that one should not necessarily believe anything he says concerning belief systems etc. But he did ask that we might consider the idea of 'breaking out of the box' i.e. be prepared to raise questions about consensus reality and perhaps (like himself) continually test and retest our belief systems-  when compared with our subjective perceptions of experiences and the nature of our own personal and greater realities etc.

So on to a little exercise on connecting with Great Spirit or God consciousness! I respect that you may not have the opportunity of the guidance of a teacher or tutor, but if possible consider taking a short course in this type of practice if at all possible. If not I hope that this short exercise may suffice!

As already said in other words approach this time (for you) with sincerity, with love in your heart for all that is good and true. Find a time where you will not be disturbed. If you already have a sacred space in your home then prepared it in such a way that you will feel comfortable sitting for a while.

Wear loose and comfortable Clothing and if posible sit on an upright chair. Say a prayer of protection (perhaps something like an Our Father or the Great Invocation), and make yourself comfortable. Sit upright with head in line with the body (but not stiff), and feet planted square in front of you (avoid crossed legs). Rest your arms on your lap or gently crossed (say palm in palm).

Take a few deep breaths and at the same time clear your mind of the day's issues. Remind yourself that this is your sacred time for attuning with your spirit (initially), and with your spiritual connection with the greater loving awareness. Allow your breathing (through the nose) to come to a natural rhythm, but maintain awareness on the gentle inflow and outflow of the air through the nostrils throughout the attunement. As you begin to relax more deeply bring your attention to the idea of your connection with greater consciousness of spirit and allow your awareness to expand. You can visualise this as growing beyond the confines of the room, building, location you are in. Continue to expand and seek and sense your being perhaps standing on top of the world – connected to it, but also connected with all that is or the loving aspect of the greater reality. At the same time try as much as posible not to allow distracting thoughts or questions to rise from the surface mind (as they may have a tendency to do). If this occurs simply repeat the mantra 'god' until your thoughts settle again. However, feel and sense the loving connection you have with all things and with all beings! When ready bring your mind more back to awareness of the breath - inflow & outflow, and begin to become conscious of the body again. Allow time to feel grounded. Slowly increase the depth of your breathing and gently open the eye lids and have a good stretch. You may wish to take a few moments to send thoughts of gratitude towards your spirit and to the grater spirit and close your attunement with a prayer and or perhaps request healing for ones in need as is your wont! Make notes of your experience if you wish for reference at a later date. Spend no more than say 30mins with this exercise, however even 10mins is sufficient! Daily practice is fine or every few days or as circumstances allow!

Kind thoughts,

Stephen

And sometimes I ask for maybe images or something, I do not expect clear words and am aware that they may send images or something else (I just read the thread where mayatnik is helping out with this exact thing).

I am not totally sure that i'm reaching the desired state for this? Since I have never actually accomplished getting out of body (but I am still trying once or twice a day for 40-50 minutes each, and shall not give up until I achieve it!). Should I just keep asking away and trying to focus on getting something?

Hi Bluejay,

I was not sure if you were sitting for meditation or attunement for communication, but on initial review of the above - it seems to me you may be at cross wits regarding your practice. The attunement rather than a meditation for spirit - be it your own or for higher guidance is generally different than typical practice for OBE experiences! Split them up and perhaps reduce the attunement exercise to 10 – 20mins maximum. I can sit comfortably for up to several hours, but I have been working on this for a number of years! But it is not really necessary to sit longer than say an hour!

Personally I am not familiar with Mayatnik's methods! See my thread for trance communication – however I would avoid using that technique unless you are already experienced with general attunement!

If it is any consolation the mediums of old would often practice for many years before seeking to exchange communication. They made great effort to attune with their own spirit 1st and work on what we would no describe as God realisation or consciousness 'in the silence'. However these are different times and many find there are ready and able to attune with spirit sooner than later. Although this is a double edged sword as people who move to channelling (in public) often burn out as they have not developed the spiritual, emotional and physical resilience needed to maintain themselves as clear channels!

If you want a basic technique for sitting in the power for spirit - I would be happy to post a simple and effective one for you!

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Interesting thoughts! It depends whether to whom you are directing the question. Also is the question one of value? If on one hand you are simply posing the question to nothing in particular why should you expect an answer?

If on the other hand you sit for meditation with intent of posing the question to say: your higher self, guide, the Angels, God (in the highest divine positive form or unformed), a spiritual master – then one might expect an answer! The answer may however not come in the mental form of words, and may be given to you in many ways. For instance it may return as emotional feelings or physical sensations, image(s), a knowing and so on. Or even be returned at a later time following your practice - even days or weekes later, but you will know it when it comes!

It would be interesting to know how you actually go about your practice. The relaxed state you experienced seems good, but you may find that you need to raise your awareness to a slightly more alert state to be able to seek inner guidance to are asking for!

Hope this helps,

Stephen

Hi Mactombs,

Just take it as part of your development. Although I would also go along with Michael_E's answer.

I used to find it quote bothersome several years ago, but found it subsided over time. However when practicing energy work it does come back... so I usually back off until I feel more settled! As per your example I have also noticed it sometimes occurs when concentrating on things like reading as well or other high focused mental and emotional effort! On the other hand it may indicate spirit presence (as a facet of growing clairsentient awareness), however that would be accompanied by other perceptions as well, and as you may already be aware it takes time to be discriminating between ones own energy and becoming aware of the presence of entities etc.

Hope this helps,

Stephen

Thanks for bringing up this person's name Stephen, as I had not heard of her before. She still touches the lives of us here in the physical! [^]

Hi Rastus,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing some of your deep personal experiences.

Difficult one – deciding whether or not to start to come out in terms of ones spiritual life with loved ones and friends!

I made that decision several years ago, and bless fully it was a good one.  I was lucky as most of them were very accepting! But then each of our circumstances are different!

When the time is right... but try to start of gentle perhaps when you do! A good example might be to quote part of the book, or perhaps something less esoteric like say to her you have been reading an interesting story about a healing success, and add that you feel empathy of have a resonance with some of the ideas were expressed in it!

In other words pose leading questions if you will! My approach was much more direct, and I know I rocked a few boats – so in retrospect I may have taken a different tack, but certainly do not have any regrets!

Now it is funny - as on occasion some of my old friends have approached me about healing and other spiritual issues for advice!

Hope this helps?

Best wishes,

Stephen [:)]
