Sometimes I wonder if I just posted something like, "MY WAY IS THE ONLY WAY!!"... and only that... how many people would realize I was joking.  ROFL
I think you are a good person Xanth.   You did not get upset with what I said.   I was a bit afraid to post it.    Some people can attack you if you do not agree.    As I said, no one is right.    I know that you do not think your way is the only way.

I'm firmly of the opinion that "separation" isn't required... nor possible, because you're not actually IN a body to begin with.  So how can you separate from something you're not in?
The entire key to projection is being able to ignore everything physical.  Being able to turn off the processing of all physical reality sensory input.
That's it really.  That's the key to projecting.
With ap there is no right or wrong.  There are people who think this is this way.   Someone else says no, it is that way.   Everyone thinks differently so that is why we experience things differently.  No one will think the same.  I am of the opinion that we do have an inner self.   I have got out of my body many times.   I have felt my body parts floating out of myself.   I do not ignore my physical body.   I have felt my body being different and I have ap many times.

have had 3 out of body experiences in the past.
reached the following multiple times :
vibrational state, white noise, thunder, sound of a speeding train going by my head, numbness all over, arm(s) out, leg(s) out, the feeling of being a giant blob of pudding.

My question is how can i separate from my body once reaching these states?
(yes i have spent a few hours a day for a week looking this up. on here and elsewhere. i've seen the faq's and such.)

2 nights ago i was very very close but was afraid to try rolling out of my body or moving a limb as i thought it would be in the physical and ruin the work it took to get to this state.

You should have tried to roll out.   Just because it may not work for other people does not mean that it will not work for you.   It works for me.

Started off listening to a guided meditation hemi-sync, began relaxing.whole body became calm, and numb until i couldn't feel it anymore. at that point i worked with my energy body making it bigger. it felt like i was a 10 ft tall man in my bed.
from here (probably about an hour after starting the hemi-sync file) i started to get the feeling of motion sickness. and could feel my arms being out of body.
from there i began to visualize climbing a rope, ripping it up on a dirt bike going off of huge jumps, a giant magnet on my ceiling moving towards and away starting off slow and short to fast and long after a while. but nothing worked! so i then started imagining myself at the beach, somewhere away from my bedroom as perhaps that itself was a distraction? then boom. lights out. woke up the next morning with no obe.

Climbing a rope should have worked.   There is a time limit to ap.   If you wait too long ap can end.    If you have tried everything and nothing works then you could force yourself out of your body.    When you felt your arms out of your body you could have moved them further out of your body until your whole self is out.   It is best to do it quickly.

Also how can you stop yourself from having to swallow saliva every5 - 10 minutes? XD i noticed it kept my head anchored while some of my energy body would be out :( and it is very, very frustrating =\

outzone said it well.   Learn to ignore it and the problem will go away.

thanks, and i can include more details if needed!

p.s -  1 past experience has been from the reality check method and affirmations before going to sleep. ( suppose to be for lucid dreaming yet i awoke out of my body being pleasantly surprised. instead of am i dreaming? would say am i in the astral...? :) )

Yes

Everyone is different.   Some people say it is great.   Others say it is not.  I think the only thing it does is it can calm your mind.   If your mind is already calm you do not need it.   That is my opinion.   There is no right or wrong.   Do whatever works for you.   It is very important for your mind to be calm and relaxed otherwise it is harder to ap.    When I used to listen to it, I would listen to it for a while then I would stop using it.   I would often ap.   I probably would have ap without it.   Sometimes I would like to ap but I cannot seem to get relaxed.    My mind is a bit agitated.  I think I will try using it again when my mind feels like that.

How do you get your body relaxed before bed.
Get in a comfortable position and meditate.  If your body starts to feel uncomfortable, do not pay any attention to it.   Put your mind into medicating and nothing else.

I blame the ap books as a lot of people think you have to have sensations/vibrations to ap.   It is false.   I ap many times without any vibrations.  Perhaps that is where you are going wrong.   You are too focused on trying to get vibrations and it is preventing you from aping.  Let what ever happens, happen without trying to make it happen.

I can understand your frustration.   You are probably not doing anything wrong.    You just have to keep practicing and building up your concentration.    I can mostly ap in the mornings but I have stopped doing that.   I want to try to ap anytime of the day.   I have occasionally ap without having any sleep but that has been a while ago now.    When you have been lying down for a while without any results, you either fall asleep or give up.    You cannot keep concentrating for hours.   That is how it is for me.    I might go back to ap in the mornings.   At least I get results.   I think I will do both ways.    You have to get used to wanting to try to ap a lot.   It is like running or swimming a marathon.   It takes time to get there.    Your mind and body has to get used to it.
Do not worry too much about messing up the vibrations.   I have physically moved my finger or whatever instead of spiritually moving myself.   It takes time to get it right.   If you keep practicing, eventually you will get there.

The breathing technique is very good Xanth.   It is simple and it works.   Thanks for posting it.

True Astralzombie.   If you roll out or step out and it happens often, eventually you will think that are really out in the astral.   That is what I think.  The more practice you get, the better.

When you get vibrations it is important not to notice it.  Try to pretend that the vibrations are not there.   Your mind should stay calm and relaxed.   If you think of your body or your partner next to you, that will likely end the ap.   If it still does not work, do not give up.   Do an ap technique, such as jumping or something else.    It should work.   When you try to ap, try and think what do you do exactly.   What are you thinking?   How do you feel?    Is your mind relaxed?   Are you getting excited?   Getting excited will end the ap.   You may not be doing anything wrong.   Often you do not have to do any technique.   You just ap by itself.   If you have tried everything and it still does not work, then I would force yourself out.   A lot of people do not like doing that.    It is not hard.   You are very loose from your body so your inner self can easily move out of yourself.    I would do it quickly.   If you do it slowly you are more likely to get stuck.   If you mess it up, practice makes perfect.   You do not have to get vibrations to ap.

Imagination is important but it's not enough.  You need to try to roll out or sit up with your physical body as well.  Use 1/3 of the force you would normally use to physically get up.  I "wriggle"  a little in my physical body which shakes my astral body loose.  (or at least that is the feeling experienced)  If you're in heavy SP like you should be, your physical body won't be able to move much...you'll just feel the few tugs or the"wriggling" sensation as you try to get out.  Then let your mind/imagination take over as your astral body starts coming out.  No doubting, now.  You are up and out of here!  Imagination is usually enough for me now that I have been doing it for 2 years, but in the beginning, no way.  You need a little physical action too.  Hope this helps!
Very good reply.   I find that sometimes I have to use force to make it happen as well.   Sometimes I visualise something and  I get out.    I can use my mind to get out but it has to be very strong.   Without a doubt I know I can do it.

To be honest I am not sure.   I think it would be a distraction if you let it.   Learn to ignore it and the problem will go away.
#438
The more you practice the easier it will get.   Eventually you will not get nervous.   Try to ignore the heart rate and the problem will eventually go away.   You can still ap with a fast heart rate.   There is another forum where they teach you to focus on the heart and to ap.

If you do not do it right, the ap opportunity will end.

When I feel that I am swaying I move away from my body.   It is easy to move yourself.   If you do not like doing that you can imagine the swaying getting bigger and bigger until your inner self goes completely out of your body.   You will probably get thrown out or you might fall on the floor.    That happened to me once.   I got thrown onto the floor and I got up.

You have a great attitude  HindSight.    I hope you will ap soon.   Sometimes when I get vibrations I have to get out of my body.   If I do nothing, the ap and ap sensation will end.  Sometimes it will happen by itself.  Other times I have to make it happen.

Animals do project or dream, just like people.    My dog sometimes makes noises when she is sleeping.   My cat sleeps most of the day.   I am sure she is dreaming about something.

Like its not actually vibrations its like a weird wavy feeling like your rocking on a boat. I think I'll just call them waves instead of vibrations from now on ahah! Does it feel like this for everyone else?
I've been practicing for a few weeks now.. still no results! Oh well, I'll keep on it!
You have only been practicing for a few weeks.   You are very close to ap.   You just need to experiment and see what works for you.   I could tell you how I ap but people do not seem to like it.

Astralzombie gave you good advice.   I read to get rid of your fear is to face it.   I would advise you not to read anything negative about ap as it is not helping you.    If you ap and you do not like it, you can easily go back into your body by thinking about it.   You can imagine a white light around your body before you ap to protect yourself.   You could say a prayer.   It does not matter what you do so long as it makes you feel safe.   A lot of people do not need to do this as they are not afraid.   I do not think they do.

Thank you Astralzombie.   I never thought of that.   That is something to think about.

Thanks Lionheart.  I think you are wonderful.   Not because you agree with me but you give great advice and you try to help people.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Seeing bad things
September 07, 2013, 00:09:04
Hi all, I am having a discussion with someone about seeing bad things in the astral.   I only see good things in the astral.  I know evil does exist but I think if you think you will see bad things you are likely to see bad things.   If you are positive you are likely to have a good time and see good things.   I think if you are afraid you are likely to see bad things.   Perhaps if you see something weird it can be true but most likely it would come from your mind.  What do you think?

For about 6 months now I have also remained consciously aware as I fell asleep. I witness my progression into "Dreamland", but only when I don't have anything pressing on my mind. If I have a show the next day or have to awaken early for some other reason, then I can just turn this effect off and go to sleep.

It took awhile to be able to turn it off at will though. This came with a lot of focused intent, as this entire practice in general requires.
Thank you Lionheart for letting us know about it.   That is very encouraging.

He needs to tell us in detail, step by step what he does.    It is no point in us trying to guess what the problem is.
