I LOVE the kitten! Merry Christmas to you also. Ben

Cool, I got some replies! Thanks everybody. I really like what you said jilola. And Blaze, I agree, this is the best of what's out there. Many others don't even have those rare gems. I used to be on the astral society forum, but it declined pretty fast a year or two ago, I don't know if it's any good now. I guess these forums are really good for beginners to get a thorough grounding on metaphysical subjects, then the only thing left is to experience what everybody is talking about. Kakkarot, I agree, the only reason I posted this thread on the astral chat is that it didn't fit anywhere else. And I think a chat forum is necesary, being serious all the time sucks butt. I'd just like to find more meaningful topics elsewhere in the forum. By the way, I'm enjoying this conversation because addressing the issue seems to alleviate it a bit. Muchos gracias (Ahh, high school spanish) Ben

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / ELVES
December 15, 2003, 20:01:31
Look in the mirror, do you see a human? Then you are a human. Perhaps your inner self came to this human shell from some elf dimension, I don't know, but it's possible. But for now you are what you are, and the best thing you can do is to experience as much as you can, because I don't put much stock in chance, so you're probably here for a reason. Also, did this mage say anything to fill up what he said, perhaps explaining the differences between what different beings look thorugh the planes. If not, he/she is probably full of shite. So even if it's your innermost desire to be an elf rather than a human, never let any desire cloud your judgement. Now I've just got to see if I can follow my own advice ;)  Ben

Kakkarot, have you gotten pretty far into acupuncture? I've only had a basic intro, and it was just the points, and a little theory, no needles or any real application of techniques. It sounds cool, but I just like to get opinions of those who have had it before. Do you recommend treatments for general health maintenance?  Ben
#55
I'm believe that there are some points meant soley to hurt, just as you say, but in massage school we had a pretty good chinese medicine class and shiatsu, and I know that many of the points that help heal could easily hurt someone with just the application of more pressure. Ex. behind the ear lobe, temples, armpits, behind the knee, inner elbows, occipital points, etc..  In that whole dimok thing it seems like the ones that can really do it, can do it on any point of the body, even from a distance, thus my guess of the intention thing. Thanks for the reply. Darn, so I can't just go buy a few herbs, draw a circle on the ground and make something glow? Oh well, I guess by the time I can do that, I will not really care to unless I really need to for a reason. I guess with that spell I would risk having someone see me, think I'm a demon and kill me, so even though that's far-fetched, it does have risk. Ben

Hi cesm23

While I agree with ALL of cruel tendencies advice, I also believe you when you say that you simply cannot get rid of your nervousness, so I'm not going to tell you to chill out. Just keep that in my mind as a goal to acheive in the future. About skipping the hip centers and directions of movement and all that stuff, here's my advice. There is no danger in moving around in the NEW system and no reason to only go certain directions or anything like that. NEW is very easy to customize to work for you. Every minute you spend on it is good, and the only dangers are focusing entirely on the brow and crown centers. That's what Robert is talking about, working entirely on those centers and nothing else, because it will lead to an energetic imbalance. The more you work on basic secondary centers, sub naval storage and your base center, the better. When I doing NEW on my feet, I don't even think about directions, I just think of my foot until it starts tingling good, and then move on, if something doesn't feel like it's working, I go on to something else. Feel completely comfortable in switching to hands/arms before you're done with feet/legs because it doesn't matter at all, any energetic progress is good. About the hip centers, I don't think being overweight has anything to do with it, the caution has to do with those centers being powerful and the sensations caused by working on them might make it impossible to focus on any other areas because you can't take your attention away from such strong feelings. It also might cause sexual arousal, which would probably end the NEW session right there because it's difficult to feel the more subtle tingling sensations when something much more *cough* physical is happening. About premature kundalini arousals, you say to believe you that it's more common than we think. HAve you met anyone with this problem? Of course it does happen, but from everything I've read on the subject, rasing your kundalini is EXTREMELY difficult and for the VAST majority of people is something that they will not even come close to happening. I've seen some stuff on other sites talking about kundalini raisings but most of the time, everything on those sites is a bunch of bovine excrement. Don't believe everything you see, use and trust your mind. The ones I would trust about kundalini are the ones that say it's a lifetime process. Probably most of the premature raisings happen when people try to go through the process of raising it when they aren't ready, and they happen to have alot of natural potential for it. Sticking to the secondary centers in NEW is totally safe in that regard. And if you do that everyday for about a year, I bet you could afely move onto the primary centers with no danger at all. Just keep the process slow and your energy body has time to develop the neccesary pathways for the energy to flow through. I believe this is all in Roberts book and online NEW tutorial. Also, try Donni joy's simplifies NEW, it's somewhere in the articles section, not hard to find. I'm just guessing, but since you live a solitary existence, which I'm familiar with because I stayed in my room from age 13 to 17, unless I was in school, which I hated because I hated people because they made me afraid, that maybe a Neg is partly responsible for your problems. Read Robert's Practical Psychic Self Defense and see if some of what he says lines up with your experiences. Negs like to remain hidden and have you produce feelings of guilt and fear which only makes their holds stronger. Good luck.  Ben

Cool, me neither. Ben

My guess is that the same points are used to hurt as to heal, just with a different intent. That whole energy follows intention thing.  Ben

Thanks for the replies. Widfis, I agree that he leaves it open to interpretation, and that's what I've done. I wanted to hear about if other people have done the same, modify NEW to work for them. Matthew, I've had the same experience with visualizing NEW at the same time as feeling it, and having it mess it up a little. Feeling is definitely the way to go. I do pretty much the same as you, except that despite my large interest in fantasy, magic, metaphysics, the occult, etc..., I must be a realist at heart because when I use my awareness hands, they "feel" like real hands and since I've never had my real hands phase through matter, my imagination rejects it when I try to get them to do it to my flesh. I can accept energy following my mental direction and flowing through my body, but not my hands. I guess since I'm a massage therapist and I have very developed sense of the the give and take of matter pushing against other matter, it has me resisiting my hands passing through my flesh even more. In my mind, flesh "gives" but it doesn't just open up it's electron structure and allow my atoms to pass through it. Anyway, making the hands seems like alot more effort than simply "feeling" the energy do it's thing to me. Ben

Here are a couple of questions to ask yourself. Are you going to school learning something you enjoy, or are you doing it just to avoid minimum wage? In the right circumstances (renting a room that includes utilities like I am) minimum wage will do you fine. But I agree that it probably isn't the best final goal. I took a year at Penn State for surveying, hated it, didn't know what to do, quit, and lived with my parents for a while. Then I travled and did seasonal jobs for a while, it opened up my eyes to the numerous possibilities of life, look at www.coolworks.com . "The Good Life" as advertisied by commercials every second of every day is an illusion. It's materialistic and shallow. How much money you make isn't important, it's how much you live during the short time you have. You ALWAYS have a choice, you just need to know it exists. I went to massage school because it's something I want to do, and now I'm done and for the past two weeks I've been hanging out and reading and not working for a second, and you know what, I'm not worried. I am finally getting a job (fingers crossed) today, but it's just at a movie theater within walking distance of my room, and it's just to cover rent, food, and the cost to get my massage license. I'm saying all this to point out the innumerable options of life. Also, do you think maybe you're a little afraid of leaving the security of your home? I was, big time, but now that I'm out there, it's no big deal, mostly because I'm only supporting myself, kids, the blessing that they are, complicate things. If you really do want to do what you're studying in school, I suggest you buckle down and become the most boring son in history. Don't even hint at anything that they might dissaprove of, just go to school, learn what you need to know, hide your burning desire for freedom until you graduate, and when that comes, move to Alaska, or at least far enough that they can't visit very often. Once you've been gone for a while, they'll probably let up and if they don't, you can tell them to shove it. I would do the same, but my parents are pretty cool, so I don't need to. Though I did go to school across the country :) Ben

A library for internet connection, and a post office box might work. Or make some new friends, and I'd try to get out of that house as soon as is monetarily possible. Parents or not, they shouldn't be spying on you, that's not right. A person has a right to make their own decisions, whether they are mistakes or not. Having someone guarding you from your own life experiences is only going to make it more likely that you'll rebel and do something much more damaging than if you had freedom. Guidance not imprisonment. Ben

Holy reality, go to a friend's house and use their computer and get it sent there. Salvia is crazy, go to the salvia divinorum research center website if you haven't already, it's got lots of good info. I've done it a few times, but only got "there" twice, on the first time with regular salvia and the fifth time with 10x strength. I recommend that, and get the stuff where they reapply pure salvinorin A back onto the leaf. It comes in little gel capsules, and it only fills a couple of millimeters of it, you take it out and smoke it, and though I could still taste a little of the harshness, it was completely easy to hold it in for a long time. As someone said earlier  "holy sh*t, I forgot it was like thiiiiiiiiii....", salvia is beyond words and is always a surise. The first time, I didn't feel as if I left my body, it's more like my body didn't exist anymore, then I came back because I heard some hysterical laughing (me), saw my window, heard a sprinkler, and the rhythm of the sprinkler made the window look like a pink train, I was being drawn towards it to go somewhere, but I fought it off unfortunately. I forgot to say something about the intensely physical pulses, they're powerful. The second time I got "there" I felt the pulse in lines going through my body lengthwise, they felt like they were chopping me up. I left and looked at the slices of me from the side and they were sort of like screens being made in a factory, with the regular world being what was on the screen. Some guy was above one of the "me-screens". I laughed and the clicking of the heater behind me made it seem like my eyes were projectors with the film running too slow, slow enough that I could see that it was made of seperate pictures, rather than a smooth vision. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but felt like a dream in terms of time. Weird.  Ben

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream Journal question
December 03, 2003, 21:31:24
I find the best for me is to keep my journal on the bed beside my pillow. If I had a really cool dream, when I wake during the night I write a word or two about it, just enough to remember the rest whenever I feel like writing about it. I find myself picking and choosing which dreams I write down, of course meaning I write the really cool ones, mainly because they're more fun to look at than "I sat in a classroom and hated it." sort of thing. It seems to make me have more cool dreams. Also, when I stopped smoking weed everyday, my dream recall jumped 1000%, so if you do that and want to remember more dreams, stop. I think it's worth it because I was getting tireds of being high anyway.  Ben

I have no idea what is and isn't possible, though probably anything is. I know that when I write a message, if I'm into it, I put some of myself into the message, just as the phrase "into it" says. Also, when I read something, I feel a little bit of that person, if it's negative, my solar plexus tightens and I shake, if it's positive, my whole body gets all warm and fuzzy. I know this could be explained on purely psychological tenents, but I doubt anything is so cut and dry. I sometimes get the sensations before I even read the message, more like when I even think of going to the astralpulse.  Ben

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Is 2012 Coming Early?
December 01, 2003, 09:43:41
I haven't read the entire thread, but the 2012 thing made me think of fictional sci-fi novel and gaming series called Shadowrun. In this world magic comes back to the world at 2012 and dragons, elves, dwarves, orcs, and wizards all become part of our earthly existence. I like the premise of magic coming back, but alot of stuff in the series would suck butt (mega-corporations controlling your every move, lots of evil magic thingies, etc...). Though I guess we do sort of have some of that already.  Ben

Read Daniel Quinn's books, then you'll see that it's all part of a 10000 year old path, though today it's worse than ever due to technology making the minds of so many people that much more available. Luckily, this technology isn't fully regulated, so we can use it as a tool to help keep people's minds as their own.  Ben

Wow, that would be awesome to go to that, but time and money just don't allow me at the moment, maybe not the costa rica one either,I hope you continue to do them through the years in hopes that I can do one eventually. Nice to see you on the forum again. Ben

Damn! It took me till song 7 on DMB's "Crash" to read this entire thread. I don't think I even remember it all accurately, so what follows might be hogwash. I was going to say something about rationalization, but it seems moot now, it was probably just a defense mechanism anyway. Weed feels nice, so that's why I've smoked it, but any burned organic material has carcenogenic properties, and I smoked ALOT, so for that reason, and also because I was just plain sick of doing it all the time, I've stopped. Also because I may try to get a job at a place that drug tests. Bad government for banning a useful, basically harmless plant for monetary reasons, where's my belt!? Also, I have friends that can't passs a day without it, though I don't think it's the fault of the plant, just their screwed up minds. I remember Reason saying something about there being nothing to show that love has no survival benefit, so couldn't have come about evolutionarily. I know that he was trying to make a point and it was just an example, but I wanted to say something about that. Humans are genetically built to be social beings, we are dependant on human contact to survive, especially in the ethnic tribal society, which all of humanity used to live in, and which I wish was still prevelant instead of dissapearing because it WORKED. OK, my point, things like love and higher reasoning seem to me to help the entire interpersonal dynamic, thus helping ensure our survival. If we all hated everyone else, we'd die off quick. About that whole reason-beavis thing. I think beavis was just trying to get reason to admit the possibilty of EVERYTHING we experience to be something totally different. Maybe we all just came into being this instant, complete with a set of false memories, and our futures and the feeling of linear progression through time is all an illusion put in our minds all in that one instant. I'm not trying to bust on Reason though, I think his logic was excellent, and I do think that we have no choice but to use what we have (logic, our five senses, sense of time, etc...) in our experience. But I think it's good to always realize that ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is possible, and in my mind, probable.  Oh eyah, one more thing, all those "shoulds" spread around suck butt. There is no one right way to live. No shoulds, no morals, just actions and consequences.  Ben

No problem, once I saw that there was a book review section, I HAD to write it. Now I'm half way through Ishmael, it's the same message but told in a different way.  Ben

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. Ben

Hi everyone, haven't been here for a while so forgive any errors based on misinformation. I'd just like to say my thoughts on the matter. I think shadowdancer has every right to post an angry frustrated message, it's his (or her, haven't checked your profile) right to do so. If it offends anyone, simply ignore it. One can argue with what another puts up as fact but you can never argue with what someone feels, you can try to persuade them to another way of feeling, but they feel the way they feel and no one can argue with that fact. I don't that I'm saying what I mean very clearly, oh well. That said, I feel that a 26 year old should have better things to do then bust on 13 year olds on a metaphysical internet forum, even if they do annoy him. Also, I feel that things like energy blasts are kind of silly and are an unnecesary goal. The things that shadowdancer was talking about (life-long, REAL usage of energy) are much more appealing to me. But to go to the other side of the coin, perhaps energy blasts fire the imaginations of young minds and will eventually lead to higher paths, I know it did for me, not to say that I'm an elderly grandmaster of chi or anything, I'm a 22 year old massage therapy student with a penchant for ranting and an interst in living a life geared towards finding the mystery behind life and moving forward in tune with it. Whatever, take what you want from this message (which might be nothing at all;) and ive your life the best you can, I'm at the library and my hour is almost up. Thanks for your time. Ben

I posted to him about that a while back when he was on the forum more often. He wouldn't tell me whether or not he had rid himself of it, but he did say that more stuff dealing with it had occured. I'm guessing he did rid himself of it, I'd really like to know the whole story for it. Ben

American Beauty, Amelie, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon are the 3 that switch around as my favorite, mainly the first 2. Some other good ones are Monsoon Wedding, Gladiator, and of course The Lord of the Rings. Donnie Darko was cool, whoever put that one up, very weird and thought provoking. I want to see an anime movie called Grave of the Fireflies, I've heard it's the most depressing movie ever and will make anyone cry, it's about 2 orphans during WWII Japan, they both die, it's not one of those bloody anime. Speaking of anime, everyone should watch anything they can find of Rurouni Kenshin, it's the best anime ever.  Ben

I haven't come to the forum in a LONG time, so I thought I'd check it out and get back in the swing of things. I do NEW on occasion still (especially when smoking pot) but I haven't tried auras in a while. I just tried again and it worked easily, I even saw colors (light green), I guess once you can do something metaphysical you don't neccesarily lose it over time. Still, there's always room for improvement.  Ben
