Yeah..my apologies too Cube. Actually, I thought you were pretty brave in looking at the mirror. I have never dared to so, but also neither have come across any mirrors in the darkness of my room.

I think my imagination will take off and impose a perception before I even start looking. Too may silly fears, and very annoying.
Had a very short projection nite before last, where I was able to see my physical body OK. Although it usually appears somewhat monochromatic in repose! Never considered creating an astral mirror however – I'll try that sometime in the future when I feel more confident in the basics again. Also had a failed attempt to project, but had some astral vision of the room including seeing the window frame from the back of my head – not quite spherical more a 180' flip as it were, and had some pre exit symptoms, but gave up after sometime and eventually fell asleep instead.

Ta for the links. Will have a peep!

Hi Kerri,

Great to see how a few thoughts spark off a renewed interest for you, and no doubt it was there bubbling in the background waiting to kick off again anyway. Looks like you really enjoyed the experiences had!

I have sat in development circles on and off for a number of years and have found them to be great learning environments. Group power seems to enhance latent abilities somewhat as per the example about vision. I have bundles of respect for many of the good people (often teaching for pennies) who have facilitated my learning thus far. It certainly has given me an overview of what potential may be available for future work! However one of my tutors often emphasised that: although we may feel called to a particular line of endeavour in terms of potential (as an instrument for spirit and use of gifts) – he always came back to the positive ideal of personal spiritual self development of ones spirit in the first instance. A good thing don't you think?

Cheers,

Thatès why it's easier to get things going (and not get caught up in hypnagogic and mentalese non-rem sleep stages) during wake-ups at night, since one wakes up from REM usually. Similarly, that's why it can be quite difficult to project in that first hour of sleeping unless one is so tired that REM immediately starts.

As I have been working mainly with intuitively led practice and less on subjective methods - I have therefore been avoiding looking at the technical side of sleep, but will consider looking at the basics – can you suggest any basic resources?

I have been looking into oils a little bit of as late, and have read about mugwort, which is supposed to help. One guy was able to increase the vivacity of his dreams placing this herb under his pillow. He based his observations on around 3-4000 dreams if I remember correctly. Not sure whether it has any effect, but I don't want to argue with 3000 dreams [:)]

I have recently been using Clary Sage (with good effect), and sometimes Frankincense in addition to old regulars like Geranium and Lavender. However Geranium seems too powerful for balanced sleep and I seem to have noticed it is better used in preparation for attunement type practice. Old reliable lavender seems fine for most uses but appears to lead to dreamless sleep or balanced sleep and can be too relaxing at times if one wants to maintain a modicum of mental focus. I have read that Clary is somewhat narcotic – but seems not to have this effect if used in moderate doses.

Tools can be helpful I think, but only as facilitators rather purely on their own accord. Just to help with that extra nudge in the right direction, as an enhancement of whatever is already unique to the individual in terms of meditation, dreams and OBEs.

Very true – otherwise I suppose it can lead to over reliance on overt ritualism. Sometimes keeping things plain and simple seem best!

Hi,

She seems to be a wonderful gifted medical intuitive. Sincerely hope that greedy sensationalists don't abuse or ruin her gift.

This is something I have experienced on occasion – once memorably during a group meditation or sitting, where with closed eye lids I seemed to see through layers of tissue to the bone structure in my right forearm and hand. Has anyone else here experienced this sort of sight?

Hi,

How odd as I usually aim for alarm set for a 90min session, and wonder if this is one of the classical/human time cycle periods or if there is some kind of golden mean with respect to the most suitable times for practice?

Appreciate this is slightly off subject, but it is interesting to see how we can use in addition to pure technique various tools and props. I have noticed varying somatic effects with essential oils for instance, but appreciate there may be some psychological influence in adding this to ones ritual. Mostly I also have employed various single and combinations of essential oils. On the whole using a diffuser with a water base and have used bathing and massage as well – primarily for personal health but also to prepare for mediation as well as OBE type practice. I have not maintained any sort of statistical notation to this, but add any deviations from the norm to my journal for later review.

Interesting to see what other tricks might be out there?

Cheers,

Please.  I would like some advice.  Is it wrong if I am feeling pressure on the sides of my eyes while doing energy exercises?  Like I stated, I feel as though the path for energy to travel is being taced by the sides of my eyes, even when I close my eyes and do the exercises.  I feel very tired and dizzy after doing energy work and have stopped for the last few days because I wanted to get that cleared up before continuing and possibly doing more harm than good.

I would appreciate the help.

Hi none,

Appreciate this si a belated reply:

Can add much more than already said. Other than re: dizziness and feeling pressure on the sides of my eyes!

Are you applying extended deep breathing techniques and if so is it posible that you are hyperventilating a little? If so then modify your practice and only take a few deep breaths at first then move to more natural breath awareness throughout the period of your practice.

During NEW and other practices I am used to feeling a variety of sensations including pressure located around the head.. R Bruce likens this to the feeling of a tight band been wrapped around ones head. Normally for me this chakra/energy centre does not remain uncomfortable following practice. Other sensations can feel like cob webs on ones face - located on either or both sides of the face from ears to brow and can feel like an electrical tingling combined with a rhythmic pulsation at the same time. However this is never uncomfortable and as far as I understand indicates awareness of energy pathways activating etc.

I don't think you should have too much to worry about to be honest. If you are young and fit probably not an issue! If older like me then if still worried perhaps consider getting your blood pressure measured as a precaution.

Hope this helps,

Stephen [:)]

Try,

http://www.mbsfestival.com/ as an example and they are starting to advertise one for Oct 04 to be held at the Manchester G-Mex Centre.

These sort of events are overtly commercial and tend to be very crowded. So if you are more the retreatant type – forget it! But on a positive side: one has an opportunity to get new ideas or even meet likeminded people, see lectures, try bizarre therapies and there is usually a meditation room if it all gets tooo much (ha ha).

If this sounds like New Age Hell on Earth the highly sensitive might be better off going to somewhere like Findhorn in the 1st place [?][:o)]

There must be many people who could benefit from just from a level one attunement, even if they do not use further. I think that the world is beginning to get overrun by negative influences, maybe this stems from an internal need to be healed. These then go on to influence others which has to be bad for all of us.

Hi Samsara,

That a good healthy and positve attitude!

- One of the most respected healers in the UK Dennis Fontannaz does one on one training and attunements. I'll PM you with his details if you like. Have you been to one of the Mind Body Spirit festivals - It might be food for inspiration. Think one is coming up in London at the end of the month.

And being a little kid. That was along time ago though. I got off topic didn't I.

Hi Magickdan,

In your case it sounds more like spirit contact. Posibly in the form of helper or guide. I used to get it for years before gaining a reasonably clear understanding what that type of buz was.

However, often it would be a supportive gesture and I would also get an intuitive feeling as well - say more usually before having some personal chalenge, and usually positive like say facing an exam or rising and dealing effectively with say a awkward person or situation. A bit like psychic help with growing pains in a sence!

Probably best to acknowledge it and treat it as part of your normality, but if it disturbs you send a thought back requesting that the spirit either should not trouble you unless you seek to exchange communication. I would try to seek a bit more advice about this! Don't take my opinion a read however!

Hi,

I have had not dissimilar to some of the ones already shared. I would agree the important thing here is not the apparant form guides appear to come in at times however glorious, but the sensations of unconditional love that's expressed... It can be a very wonderful blessing indeed!

Hi,
I was wondering whether Attunement is worth getting. I have read up about Reiki and the different levels and considered getting level 1 just as a starting basis to work from. Although I do feel a bit skeptical as a lot of these "Teachers" seem to charge quite a bit. As far as I can tell, the attunement seems to be an activation of the chakras to recieve Reiki energy. Is this correct?

                                       Samsara

Hi,

Read Essential Reiki by Dianne Stein before spending any money whatsoever! She caused a storm in the Reiki community a number of years ago by including the attunements and symbols Reikiin this book. Some if not many are stil charging silly money for something that one can self attune to regardless. Otherwise have one-on-one or small group lessons, but do not pay the Earth. Or perhaps join a Reiki share group if you are still interested.

Don't let that stop you - as I have had Reiki in the past and had distant attunements. I was very consious of it's positive effect however so don't knock it totally.

Cheers,

I did notice that lately everyone once and a while i get like, an energy pulse in my head..its kinda wierd. Like it feels like my third eye is moving back and forth. Once again i have no clue what that is either, so i just let it happen when it does. 0_0

Hi do,

I used to get similar noise in childhood and also into my teens. As per being a prelude during actual OBE practice - this can often happens before natural sleep. I used to get it also during school lectures. Especialy so if the teacher was droning on an on - which  obviously has an hypnotic effect etc. Looks like you went into a little light trance. No big deal and not worth worrying about. Suppose that is what real day dreaming is like and can include visions while also still being aware of the room or space you are in.

Take care,

Hi Spectral,

Shaminism: try any of Kenneth Meadows works - I have several of his books e.g. Earth Medicine or Where Eagles Fly. They are on a power with RB's work in that field of endeavor! Although Meadows was English his work is still worth considering. A close lady friend trained with Meadows before he passed on and she is a very gifted Shamanic, and has taken me on several enlightening journeys although now she is on primarily a yogic path.

However if you also want some interesting reads in addition to your academic esoteric research have a look for Entering The Circle by Olga Kharitidi – she was born in Siberia and the book is a travel log of her search for ancient knowledge. Alternatively you may enjoy the fictional work Reindeer Moon by Elizabeth Marshall Thomas – a prehistoric shamanic tale based in the Paleolithic and although speculative it is based on real research.

Herbolagy/Herbalism/Phytotherapy – I assume that you are not referring to magical herbalism rather than medical herbalism. Medical herbalism is a subject I have a small yet growing interest in as I am studying Naturopathy. Try getting the reading lists from the College of Phytotherapy in England see: www.collegeofphytotherapy.com/ or the Herbal Society see: www.herbsociety.co.uk/

Skeptical stuff: you must be familiar with www.skepdic.com or the very beloved (not) James Randy see: www.randi.org/

Magic: big subject... I have only scratched the surface and am reading Bardon at the moment. Although if you want to get your teeth in to something mystical, philosophical and a bit different have a look at the works of Paul Brunton see: www.paulbrunton.org/

That my bit for the mo, hope it helps.

Enjoy,

Stephen

Hi,

No problem [;)]

If so then in all likelihood you will most likely encounter what may be perceived as other beings at some stage!

quote:
That's true, of course, but am I right when I assume most of this beings can be compared with "citizens" of our towns, so they are not exactly "bound" (lack of a better term) to us?

I suppose I was going along the lines of discarnate entities in the form of people who have died and left their mortal shells etc. They are no more attached to us that out own friends and relatives on Earth.

I appreciate that you have been studying negs etc. It is true that negs and some spirits can attempt to attach links to incarnate people. The classic example is say someone who died an alcoholic or drug addict who is either was unable to unwilling to move on and sometimes try to attach to similar people here as if to continue their addictions etc.

I am more used to spirit communication in the form of Mediumship – so will leave the issue of negs, alien entities, higher beings, angels/demons to someone else to provide you with feedback on etc.

Without going too wildly esoteric on you – it is worth considering that in a sense we are all attached to one another as aspects of divine creation or god. You may have heard of the concept of 'oneness' for instance! But on Earth do we not appear as individualized beings in order to perhaps enjoy self awareness, and then go through a process of relearning how to interconnect with everything else again! Anyhow I have gone way off track, sorry!

quote:
As I said, it's good to hear that. So, if they respect our free will, they stay away, if I ask them? I don't want to be "bound" (lack of a better term ...) to someone who I maybe don't like.

I don't think it is worth too much worry at this time, unless you have already felt that you have had some sort of untoward attachments before. But then this is something we tend to do in life anyway is it not - for instance in our relationships with family, friends, enemies & lovers etc?

Appreciate that your 1st language is probably German – so I hope my use of English makes sense?

Take care,

Stephen [:)]

Appreciate your point!

It's good to hear that these guides respect our privacy. But what if I tell my "guide" (if I have one) that I don't need him/her at all? Will he/she go away?

If you actually have a guide(s) that is! There is some debate between those who say everyone has a guide and those who believe we don't. Other opinions include that we all have guardian angels as an example. I think one thing for sure is that we all have a divine aspect which can reveal itself to us when we are ready to accept that part of our nature! I would think that guides/helpers/higher self they may be disappointed if you rejected their wish to work with you on a conscious level, but would still honour your request regardless. Also if you are participating on this forum – can I assume that you have an interest in astral projection and or some other aspects of extra normal or spiritual learning/experience? If so then in all likelihood you will most likely encounter what may be perceived as other beings at some stage!
quote:
It's just that I hate being looked after by other people on what I do. I like to be on my own, even if I make "mistakes".
I respect that is the way you feel, however as far as I have seen guiding individuals and aspects of your higher self are non judgmental in the way people with bodies are. Although spirits of deceased individuals often present with the same set of beliefs and opinions they had during life. This would make sense as a matter of differentiation between a more evolved being like a guide or helper and a say other spirit visitors. There are a number of different models for afterlife states or worlds, but then that is another subject etc.

I have my own understanding on guides etc is something which continually evolves as part of my learning experience anyhow. As no doubt it does for each person who is aware of this type of spirit contact etc.

I would also be interested to see what other forum participants think on this subject?

Regards,

Stephen
