Hi,

Wonderful story with a successful romance to boot!

Cheers.

Hi MajorTom,

Glad you enjoyed it.

Thinking of the silver cord reminds me again of Muldoon or perhaps someone else's work I read in the late 70's. The idea mooted was that the silver cord had a limit to it's extension and because of that one would find great difficulty in projecting more that a certain distance. Taking this observation on board made me think that the task of projecting would be a nigh on impossible. I suppose at the time I was young and impressionable, and this somehow had made my practice all the more difficult as the objective then seemed to be at the rainbow's edge! Obviously I had misinterpreted the silver cord issue, and although I knew better it created a mental barrier for a while.

Its funny that this example demonstrates how a chosen belief system can sometime prevent us from seeing the wood for the trees!

In the words W W Dyer perhaps it just another case of 'You'll See It When You Believe It'.

Have fun,

What is an indigo Child?
As a summary, here are the ten attributes that best describe this new kind of child, the Indigo Child (named by those who predicted it).
•   They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)
•   They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
•   Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
•   They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
•   They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
•   They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.
•   They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters"  (nonconforming to any system).
•   They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
•   They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
•   They are not shy in letting you know what they need.

Hi AngelicSaiyan,

Obviously you've done your research! However I can't comment on Asperger's.

But sounds like you are just like the rest of humanity! Only that, like many of the younger ones on this board (and some old sods as well) ... gifted, sensitive and blessed with wonderful potential.

Your lucky actually – when I was in and around your age there was scant chance to talk to open and like minded folk about the paranormal (it should be called normal really). The internet and forums like this were no more than dreams of the future.

You are absolutely fine... enjoy life and be glad of the shared experience of people you can now meet on equal terms.

Bye,

S

Although some appear to have cranked it up out of control, and perhaps take advantage of gifted youth at this time – you might find it worth a look at the Indigo Children phenomena.

I think that hits the nail almost on the head.
Life is indeed the vessel or the environment we have chosen for the lessons we need to learn.
A teacher is nothing but a mirror that allows us to reflect our selves and thus facilitate the learning.
No-one can teach you about yourself or your existence but you. A guru is but a catalyst and a facilitator.

Hi Jouni,

Ta for dropping in on this little thread and leaving your apt comment.

In a short space only a few years I have somehow met or been blessed with meeting some remarkable individuals: –
including for instance a lady meditator with over 50yrs of spiritual service. Her presence was truly powerful yet incredibly humble as a balance. Although the darshan with her profound, I would not picture her as my teacher per say. On the other hand I have enjoyed teaching and guidance from individuals who appear to have released the shell of incarnation to put it politely. But perceive them in a relation of friendship rather than disciple/guru (forgive my ego), but again I am often humbled.
I do not guru seek, but seem to recieve the blessing of teaching.

Have you had any interesting storys to relate regarding spiritual teachers?

Cheers,

Hi None,

Looks like you are doing just fine, keep up the good work.

Regarding eyes open or not. Let me give you an analogy. A couple of yrs ago an ex girlfriend and myself took some courses in Raja yoga. This particular Raja style primarily included meditating with ones eyes open. Being conditioned to sitting or meditating eyes shut, I found it nigh on impossible to maintain the practice without closing them again. After a while (a week or so) it became 2nd nature. So practice, practice etc and it will work out.

Cheers,

S

nice..:)

Actually I have been trying to get projecting again on and off over the last 5 odd years. With the exception of self induced OBEs I have been blessed to have had a wonderful range of what can I say 'spirtitual experiences'. I originally came across an earlier incarnation of the Astralpulse site via the now departed Spirtweb back in '99, and have followed AP ever since, albeit as a lurker (ummm). Actually I wrote to Robert Bruce about then and was surprised to receive a reply.

Hope you do not mind a potted history: I am one of those (like many here) who enjoyed and remembered having had natural OBEs' in childhood. Then as a teenager came across one of Douglas Bakers books, which at the time was a revelation, and my formative experience suddenly made sense. I practiced Baker's techniques with some success, but this petered off as life issues took precedence and I lost interest. In my early twenties I had some frightening sleeping paralysis episodes and some, as they seemed at the time very freaky lucid and precognitive dreams. Swiftly skipping forward to my late 30's following a major life lesson I had a humongous spiritual experience which kick started an avaricious interest and search in to all things spiritual, esoteric, paranormal, psychic, spirit communication and healing. You name it!!! Since then I had kept my earlier interest in astral projection on the back burner - until recently after receiving the mailing about and then attending the UK workshop. This was an opportunity that just could not be missed! So here I find myself yet again finding myself restarting a part in the wonderful arena of Astral Projection.

I would be interested to know your story?

Ta again for your encouragement.

Hi MajorTom,

I'll keep your note about eyes in mind. I am someone who has only but recently started to successfully induce OBE's again after a 20 yr gap. Other than that I have had various spontaneous OBE's over that time. So I'll keep that useful idea on board for the future.

P.S.

Some of you - more decreped ones like myself may have enjoyed popular yet cult works such as Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson's - Illuminatus Trilogy See http://www.rawilson.com/illuminatus.html.

Not sure if this should be in the modern Christianity section... but what the heck!

Enjoy,

Hi Fat Turkey,

I cannot help but notice that you like to post somewhat thought provoking statements. Good on you!!! Forgive me for coming across as heavy in advance - hope you enjoy my little rant below ....

After recommendation from a friend I obtained a copy of the Da Vinci Code! She explained that it had obviously been written as a fictionalised mystery thriller for entertainment only, which no doubt you are aware. I for one am looking forward to completing the book, and hope you enjoy it as well!

As a completely lapsed Catholic I can appreciate why one can despise an organisation due to the cruel behavior of its representatives! OK I may be slightly off subject, but is it is it really worth while, or better still worthy of today's enlightened individual to string along rank old potatos as it were!!!

Yet, however pertinent to today's society the argument for considering the perversion of the original nature of Christianity and it's true roots, and regardless of the fact of it's Romanization and the bloody and tragic aftermath of that has followed mankind ever since, is there any real value for hating any of today's institution(s) for the sins of their forbearers?

The Da Vinci code however absorbing is only but a fictionalized representation of much of the pulp genre discussion about organisations (some allegedly secret), and their historical links to certain myths and legends or conspiracy theorys (however true): as mooted by popular authors like Gardener, Baigent, Hancock or even Bob Frissel or even the likes of David Icke et all. Although it might be unfair if not cruel to put them in the same bag!

One example could be for instance the discussion about the Graal quest! With out going into a song and dance about myth and history, could the Graal really have been a symbol for man's fall from grace and his blind search for a lost part or divided part of the soul as represented in the divine feminine, rather than what it perhaps became in terms of perpetrating a bloodline myth or not!

There are convincing esoteric arguments for the current state of the human condition human on this plane of experience or existence. However one perspective for consideration is the dominator (male) model 'symbolized by the blade; existing for untold millennia. It could be argued to have been one of the primary roots and certainly symptoms of human kind's disharmony to this very day. A study worth considering was the swing from matriarchal to patriarchal society as depicted in books like say 'The Chalice and the Blade' by Riane Eisler.

This seminal work in some way appeared to have been misunderstood by certain circles as was in some way considered part of the feminist backlash in the 20th century during the 80's. As much as I applaud the re-emergence of the Goddess, is there not a truer call for integration of the male and female aspects of our nature on all levels and dissolution of duality i.e division in the so called global community at large. In other words is there potential for the kingdom of heaven be seen to manifest on Earth, or do we continue to live in awe of those who control and think they understand how best we are to lead our earthly lives? I do not see myself as any kind of hero or saint, and regardless of the small part we each as individuals play upon this field of life's play - is it not a matter of personal responsibility for each one of us to take on the mantle of service even if only to help one brother or sister in need. Is this not what the true Christian message and the calling of all ages was and still is after all?

No doubt you would agree that regardless of historical perception of religion, society and politics the division humankind endures, must as a matter of balance come to peaceful harmony in time - least we exit the planet in no better way than the dinosaurs.
I am a great admirer of the search for truth or Gnosis and I very much appreciate the argument about the Gnostic and Synoptic gospels. I in no way claim to be a scholar of divinity, yet it may well be worth considering part of the Pope's Easter message regardless of ones lack of or professed faith: -

'The pope, speaking to tens of thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter's Square, prayed for leaders who are trying to resolve conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, including the Iraq war and Israeli-Palestinian violence. He called for what he described as the children of Abraham — Christians, Jews and Muslims — to rediscover their shared bonds'. Source CLIFFORD J. LEVY New York Times.

May peace be with you,

Stephen

Hi Hypris,

I very much agree with seeking professional medical advice (with the cautions already mentioned)!

But with sincere respect to some of the other advice given to you on this thread - can I offer an alternative? It is only my personal opinion for what it is worth! I do hope that it does not unnerve you, as it is only your personal choice to accept or not!

In order to be sure and confident if it had been spirit or entity relationship or not, and in light of issues you have presented! Might it not be a good idea to have them investigated properly by experienced and responsible individual(s),

At the same time would it not be more practical and sensible for you girlfriend, and your good self to take time out to ground yourselves for the mean time and get back into normal day to day life as much as possible!

Once things are sorted out to your satisfaction and you feel comfortable and confident in yourselves then by all means enjoy your spiritual explorations.

With respect to spirit contact: it really does take time to develop a relationship of trust with guides etc. If it were spirit or entity contact: my opinion from what you have described is that incident does not fit the model for either contact from a guide, helper or loved one from spirit.

It is obvious that your girlfriend and you have together a wonderful and caring sensitivity, therefore I really can appreciate that you have been shaken up - hence your requests for help! If you have not already had offers of help - I hope you do not mind, but I have sent you a private msg with some useful contacts.

For your information and from personal experience: I had run into not dissimilar similar issues in the past. When one experiences apparent spirit communication in particular of this type, it is important if not vital to have some practical guards in place. In the mean time - I can see that you have already tried some healing protection, which is good. The exercises in PPSD are also very useful as are prayers of protection.

I appreciate that you are a healer, but I do not know your level of experience. Can I suggest if you don't mind that: if you are going to do some AP or other practice, then keep it gentle, perhaps some meditation (in moderation) or relaxation techniques as a couple for the moment. Your girlfriend may be better off getting her stamina back before taking on board other types of intense energy work however good at this sensitive time. Again clear the ground first and get back into an enjoyable and balanced swing of things.

However, NEW is absolutely brilliant for building energetic resilliance as are Tai Chi, Qi Gong or hatha yoga for instance. But perhaps get the core issues out of the way first.

Hope that I have not tread on shoes as it were!

I do hope this helps,

Stephen

Hi Ladies and Gents,

Two great books on the subject... which should help to clear up any confusion about cultivation of Chi etc, male orgasm and the differentiation between Org and ejaculation!

The Tao of Health, Sex and Longetivity by Daniel Reid

or

Mantak Chia (of Healing Tao fame) & Douglas Abrams Arava's - The Multi-Orgasmic man. Lots of info therein for the fair sex as well!

You may also find some illuminating insight on this most personal of human subjects on Tantra.com as an example.

Gosh – I'm no expert and although sitting for about 4 ½ years feel that I have only but touched the surface.

Sorry if I have sounded somewhat heavy and can you all bare to put up with this observation on the spiritualist movement rather than mediumship per say! But that is what I feel at this moment.

I feel like any serious personal work on altered states of consciousness, the real value and benefit will be derived from sincere and regular practice.

If you look at the enthusiasm of some of say the younger members of this forum interested in AP for instance – it is blindly obvious how seriously they take their calling and still enjoy life to the max. i.e without dropping of the face of the Earth (pardon the pun).

Altough there appears to have been an upsurge in popular Mediumship, and new age spirituality in general; this would seem to be part and parcel of the broader spectrum of things!  Yet other forms God centered realization offer today's seeker broad avenues in the path to communion with worlds hitherto unseen, or held in abeyance by those who know better until this apparently portentous time.

One thing I notice when talking to people who have had substantial experience in the spiritualist movement is their continual harkening to the golden days of yesteryear, and continual finger pointing at the lack and poor quality of teaching available. There are dammed good teachers out there; although justifiably some of the better ones shun the limelight. I am sure you may already have had good recommendation and if not will find a great tutor(s). A good example of this is Robert Bruce himself, and although I do not claim to really know much about him and I hope he will forgive my singing praises. Yet here stands someone in the mantle of the likes of Harry Edwards. Although he appears to have moved on from his spiritualist heritage, here stands as an epitome for what spiritualism or true natural spirituality really stood for (if but were the veil were pulled back). I hope you, and If not already done so would read his work!

It beggars the question that perhaps it is nigh time for the so called spiritualist movement to move on and or evolve into the cradle of spiritual support it had potential to become, as indicated in the great words of humble guides such as the Silver Birch or White Eagle. But then would have people at the turn of and 1st part of the 20th century have been able to handle the like of alien channeling of being from other Star systems or in Anglican or Catholic society native forms of spirituality such as Shamanism or the Western resurgence of the Goddess, Wicca, Magic and divination for instance! Examples of say followers of one of these paths would be say Dion Fortune who although derided by establishment culture at the time now shines in a new light.

My feeling is that many traditional spiritualist organisations (certainly the pseudo Christian ones) may well be doing their members a disservice by not being more accepting of other fields of spiritual expression. Perhaps I am being unfair to those great luminaries of yore who had set the stage for us to explore, and the finger might be better pointed at gleaming understanding and aiming towards religious reconciliation in today's divided society in general (moan) .

Actually the post Adrian placed looks useful enough on Spirit Writings. I agree there does not appear to many recent manuals which adequately explain the methods or mechanics of sitting or attuning for what might be described as mediumistic states of trance. Actually some the methods on this site are only but a hairlines difference from the methods employed for trance and physical Mediumship. But when you consider the gifts offered with enfoldment then this I think comes as no surprise. One of the works of  the Tibetan the channel for the trance medium Alice Bailey 'The Light of the Soul' aims at explaining the Path to Union and includes subjects such as Astral Projection, and all aspects of mediumship as eluded to in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. In that work it explains much of what the aspirant may have to cross including attainment of gifts or powers. Anyway I have diverged enough for this little post.

Backs to books: I have heard that the FST manual is supposed to be very good and someone suggested that the The Institute of Spiritualist Mediums (ISM) are helpful if one wants written guidance on say home circle work. See:

http://www.ism.org.uk/Circles.htm

A very basic tutorial would say be Larry Dreller's Beginners Guide to Mediumship. Personally I don't like his style and the book is very terse. No doubt there is better out there, and hopefully some else will make hsve good suggestions to make. Interestingly here is an other online book link a mate sent to me today:

http://myweb.wvnet.edu/~gsa00121/books/books.htm

There are groups on MSN that have training material on them. I'll send you the links if I can trace them.

Hope my little rant has been of some help?

Kind wishes,

To my personal experience, once one ended inner dualty and unites all fighting parts within him and lay down the weapons, one becomes one with his entire being. Later on, as one progresses further one will notice he starts to feel what other people feel, he feels one with his surroundings, he will notice we all share the same emptiness. This is as far as I got, but then got slapped in the face with disbalance :). I wonder how far one can develop his awareness.

I found the process I described (however poorly) in my previous post very centering, yet I hope that I can empathize with your personal reflection with the exception of your phrase: -

quote:
all share the same emptiness

I would be interested in what that meant to you. Hope you do not mind me asking, but would you care to elaborate?

As I do not know the context of your misbalancing, I can only assume that a specific lesson or set of lessons had to be reenacted for your own personal spiritual development. No doubt you have moved beyond that past experience into fresh and more joyful times.

It would be incredibly crass to claim to have been enlightened. But I certainly feel that we have opportunity to glimpse at the divine and as we move forward on our path regardless of apparent stumbling blocks. Could it not be said that our journey is ever upwards, and our eyes become ever more opened to greater levels of awareness and glimpse at the nature of our true potential?

I would consider that the guru is always available and that all we need do is but ask! Although how we choose to act on divine guidance is a matter of our own choosing. Even if it means that we have to revisit the school and retake the lesson. In light of that - can I reiterate my friend's statement as an example where he said: -

quote:
They are the Lamp BUT God is the Light. At the end of the day being taught by a Guru on the inner planes is being taught by your Higher Self which your Guru has opened up for you in a unique way; (the higher Self of course is in reality the Cosmic Self the Absolute who is everything everywhere in Whom we all share and is the true Life, singular, of all beings). When that has happened inside you then you can trust their Guidance on the Path to God Realization.

I consider that one has all the potential within to develop or rekindle awareness lost to levels way beyond the wildest dreams of our imagination. What do you think?

I enjoyed your reply.

Thank you,

Hi DM,

A pleasure! I have to admit to dabbling as well and, do seem to get called back again and again to this fascinating subject. However, I am probably not best qualified to give advice specifically on AP. No doubt one of the more experienced AP experts will be able to give you better guidance! Although my feeling on aura work and AP is that they do very much go hand in hand.

With mediation practice I find it valuable to take time to sit on a regular basis, employing various forms depending on what I feel inspired to work on at the time. Although choose what you feel comfortable with. I also find it important and grounding to balance spiritual practice with regular daily life, and have found general exercise and physical yoga really beneficial.

Other than that, perhaps consider Robert Bruce's energy work such as his: New Energy Ways (NEW) method. Do you practice any style of body work for instance?

Thank you for sharing your experience. It must have been a significant turning point for you. The colours seem to come across in a very positive light. A highly potted interpretation is that green symbolizes service and energy, while yellow indicates wisdom. It would be unfair for me to over interpret you personal experience. But whether it was the aura of a helper or your own aura, I feel that it was likely that they were confirmation of qualities that you may have been working on, or had been asking for at that particular time and space in your life. It is good to reflect on past experience, but also to move on and enjoy fresh fields. I think that each of us develops our own mind map of symbols for the meaning of colour and for the aura. It is always a pleasure to learn something new each day. Hope you do as well!

Yes, do read Roberts Bruce's work and I hope you enjoy his treatise on the aura. When I started to take serious interest in my personal development my mind was like a sponge for information. For me it seemed easy to take on board what might seem like a tremendous range of concepts. For me, a resonant cord had been struck with experiences that I had been denying from earliest childhood. It was a revelation to be able to feel that I was not the only one out there. Although I can appreciate that it may seem overwhelming when there seems to be so much to learn. Now I just take things one day at time and enjoy the moment as it comes along.

Keep following your intuition and good luck with your practice and growth.

Enjoy the journey(s)!

Kind wishes,

S
