Buddha taught that trying is setting yourself up for failure and it is better to not try at all

Were you there?

I'm not a buddhist and I don't particularly find the buddhist path very captivating.  But you just sound like you have a grudge against buddhists.

oooh, no.  you know what you sound like, a satanist.  they are all about happiness and pleasure.  they aren't concerned with much else besides pursuing pleasure.  maybe you'd like the Satanic Bible, I thought it was a good read.

You seem to misunderstand what a chakra is and what it does.

You did not turn your 3rd chakra into your 4th, that's ridiculous.

If chakras do exist, they are the energy conduits by which your perceive and transmit data pertaining to your reality as well as receive data from your non-local consciousness.  Each chakra is designed to perceive certain energies and you can use that knowledge to enhance your intuition.  But what a chakra really does is let you know how "spiritually" balanced you are.  If your chakras are all out of whack, you will have health problems (especially mental and emotional problems) and re-balancing them helps you maintain a healthy body and mind.

Before I entertain your post and propose any serious response, I need to know, are you completely full of bullsh*t?  Do you really believe this?  If you're serious, I will offer my thoughts.  If you're just an as*hole, then let me know now so I don't waste my time.

waking up in sleep paralysis is actually somewhat of a medical disorder.

i know it's semantics for some of you, but it really isn't.

the state that most of you call sleep paralysis is something else.  it's something that you intentionally move into and it is just a disassociation from your body.

real sleep paralysis shouldn't happen.  your body paralyzes itself in REM sleep so that you don't injure yourself by acting out a dream.  it's called sleep atonia.  you SHOULD NOT be waking up during this period unless you are awoken by an external cause (a loud noise or something).  short of that, anything else that causes you to wake in sleep paralysis is interrupting your REM sleep for an unknown reason.  so, while waking up in sleep paralysis isn't really a "disease", there is something abnormal causing you to wake and it could be a problem.  I'm not saying that you should over react or anything, but it might be worth consideration (like maybe you have sleep apnea and you are waking in paralysis because you stop breathing).  again, i'm not saying that there is any serious problem, but you really shouldn't be waking up in paralysis normally, let alone multiple times in a week.  you could try a natural sleep aid, like valerian root or kava kava tea/capsule.  these may help ensure that you sleep through the night without waking in REM sleep.

OP, I would like to clarify that I am not a non-believer.  I don't doubt the power of magic.  There is no such thing as black or dark magic though, there are only black or dark magicians.  It's the intent and purpose behind a ritual that makes it a malevolent act.  In and of itself, magic is very neutral.

A large part of my job is helping people counteract what they believe to be magical attacks against them.  I NEVER tell people to retaliate, for two good reasons.  First, how are you doing right by yourself if you just react?  It's more important for your own development to handle the situation in a non-aggressive manner (in my opinion, but I have practical experience).  Second, stuff comes back to you in magical practice.  I don't know the "physics" behind why, but I've seen it happen.

When I teach people how to handle these things I always suggest practical, real world solutions first.  Talk to the person you suspect, try to remove them from your life, whatever.  The point is, if you can settle something through communication and understanding, that's what you should do.  If you cannot do these things then your next option is to cleanse and protect yourself.  You can cleanse yourself in numerous ways, but I would suggest sage smudging yourself or something similar.  You should also burn a black candle to absorb all of the "negativity" that is being directed at you.  When the candle is done, if there is any wax or other part of the candle left, bury it.  (This is very important because black candles ABSORB, which means that if there is any candle left, it contains all that negativity and it will leech back into your environment)  Then I would burn a white candle to purify yourself and your space.  You could also invest in a black crystal to wear or carry, and that will protect you.

Now, having said that, I don't think this is your problem.  If you're just being intentionally over dramatic for the fun of it, then you are annoying and should just move on to another forum of people who are silly enough to get all dramatic over nothing as well.  If you really believe this and are this intense about it, I think you may have some paranoia problems or something similar and you need professional help so that you don't hurt yourself or others.  I'm not saying that you're crazy or mentally ill, but everyone needs someone to talk to sometimes and we may not be the right people to be your counselor in this situation.

Either way, one of these solutions could be of use.  Just don't let yourself be bamboozled or taken advantage of when there is no legitimate cause for concern.

MilesB, you were about to separate into the physical realm. It would have been a Here-Now projection and separation can be extremely difficult here...like you are stuck or something. Sometimes a violent effort to break free is needed. Will yourself out and you may the effort to move...don't imagine movement. Alternatively believe that the ceiling is a giant magnet...sometimes this works.

Never come across anyone but me who calls it the Here-Now instead of RTZ.

The authors Gavin and Yvonne Frost call the RTZ the Here-Now in a book called "Astral Travel".  It's a good book if anyone is interested.

I assume it's probably a kind of pagan thing.

Astrology is a very intensive system to learn.  You kind of have to go all in if you really wanna learn about how it all works.

And, contrary to popular belief, astrology isn't some bs superstition.  Astrology was the astronomy of our ancestors and it's ridiculously accurate when you learn how REAL astrology works.  Tabloid horoscopes are NOT astrology and are pretty much worthless.  Astrology is a completely different story and it is very complicated.  If you want a daily horoscope you need your Natal Chart (which requires birth date, birth time and the most accurate location you can provide, typically the city is enough, but the more accurate the better) and what is called a Transit Forecast.  This identifies major transits that will have an effect on you in the coming days.

Astrology does not predict the future.  It describes archetypal influences in your life, nothing more.  There are positive and negative sides to every situation and you are the one that makes the final decision on how a situation will turn out (though you're usually not aware that you really made a choice or that there was even a choice to be made).  Astrology is sacred science.

So we need to grow our own non-genetically modified tobacco plants?

Nicotine (and caffeine) prevents Alzheimers has been stated somewhere. :)

Well yea.  "Tobacco Aficionados" wouldn't touch a manufactured cigarette with a 10 foot pole.  They usually smoke cigars, but they will tell you that if they did smoke cigarettes they would buy loose tobacco and roll their own because loose tobacco doesn't have the same chemicals added as manufactured cigarettes.

But no, we should all quit smoking.  I make tobacco sound great, but the way we use it compared to the way it is used in ritual are two different worlds.  Its just like opiates.  We have receptors made for opiates (endogenous opiates or endorphins), but they serve a very specific purpose and aren't meant to be used constantly.  The same with our nicotine receptors.  They serve a purpose and aren't meant to be constantly supplied with nicotine.  But hey, that's the story of us modern westerners, we abuse everything because we strive for pleasure to drown our sorrows rather than dealing with the emotional reality of our lives.

* Smoking cigerettes
   - stupid.  Absolutely the stupidest drug ever invented.  It has no benefits and severe detriments.

Wrong.  First of all, the brain has receptors in it that we designed to receive nicotine, they're called nicotinic receptors.  Second, nicotine reduces stress, relaxes and calms you and can serve as an appetite suppressant.  Tobacco in and of itself is hardly as detrimental as you might think.  It's the 200 other mystery chemicals that modern industry puts in tobacco to make it more addictive that are detrimental.  Tobacco has been historically used as a sacred plant in shamanic ceremonies.  Pure tobacco, untouched by the tobacco industry, is smoked, chewed and even drank by shamans and native peoples to this day.  Western use of tobacco is essentially heretical in a sense.  We turned it into the poison that it is today.

Now, OP.

Naturally, a lighter diet will probably be easier to project with because a lot of heavy meats and such make your body lethargic and diminishes your ability to hold focus (because most of your energy is being directed at digestion).  That said, modern western foods, processed and genetically modified, are probably not going to be helpful in projection.  I'm not saying that you can't do it if you eat a typical "american" diet, it would just probably be easier if you didn't.  It's not about some lofty spiritual ideal, it's simply that you will project more easily (in a controlled manner) if you are healthy, and the food we eat isn't healthy.

Protecting yourself is always a good idea.  I don't believe that it is entirely necessary, that you are vulnerable to attack by malevolent entities.  However, even if you're not in any metaphysical danger, protection can serve as psychological reassurance as you embark on a wholly unfamiliar journey.

Some say that it is good to have a goal in projection.  It gives you a clear direction when the time comes to explore.  That said, I often found it difficult to remember my goal in the beginning.  The more I projected, the easier it got to hold onto that goal once I was out of body.  A goal is certainly not required though.  I still think having at least a loose idea of what you'd like to do would be helpful.

Smoking.  As I said, if you're unhealthy your body will have less energy to devote to projection, so you'd do best to be healthy.  That said, I smoke and I never really felt like it inhibited me in any way.  But I have never tried to project when I wasn't smoking so who knows, maybe it is a lot easier.  Smoking is really bad for you though.  I do it, but I'm not proud of it.  It's the one thing I wish I never started doing (and I used to be a heroin addict).

Jesus, many New Testament scholars believe, was not born in Bethlehem but Nazareth.

He wasn't born in either place because there was no historical person named "Jesus" in the way that christians think of him.  The myth of the Godman (a Greek myth, but probably much older) is a common story among ancient spiritual traditions.  It's not about a man, it's about mankind.  Jesus was a representation of the "anointed one", the initiate.

In this situation I'd be more likely to suggest that it was an emotional memory pattern of your grandmother that is a part of your mother.  So it's not that your grandma's ghost was actually there, but an imprint of her consciousness is in your mom.

Of course, it could have just been her own intuition/self yelling at her and she interpreted it as her mom.

I don't think anyone goes to API anymore.  It's dead.

This happens to me a lot too.

When you're trying to project your breathing is significantly slower and depressed.  I would venture a guess and say that it's a physiological response.  You're breathing so slow and your body decides it needs some more oxygen and forces you to take a deep breath.
#869
I'm in the same situation.  I don't actively practice projection anymore either, but I still study it.  More accurately (and i'm sure this is the same for Kurt) I research consciousness and ap seems to be a good way to study consciousness by having a different state to compare to normal waking reality.

I haven't met any, but people say children are much more "tuned in".  I would imagine that their manner of perception is a lot more congruous with the out of body state than that of an adult.  They probably get it better than us.

While I don't know anything about crystals, some believe that everything is 1's and 0's, male/female, alpha/omega, yin/yang. Balance of the opposites, the 50/50 theory.

I have a crystal that I found in my backyard that I've been meaning to take pictures of. I have an interesting theory about it... I will upload it soon. Perhaps PR can tell me something about it. It may be junk, I don't know, but it's held my interest.

Definitely, post a pic, I'll do what I can to identify it.  Ruby, Beryl, Amethyst, Citrine, Garnet and Quartz are some common stones found in Georgia, so it could be one of those  Of course, it could be almost anything.

what do you mean?  Like physically?

I suppose that if you have impeccable control of your conscious awareness you could shut down all awareness of external stimuli.

Prove that my memories are stored in binary fashion :|

What CFT said is a good explanation, not saying it's the right one (because there isn't such a thing!)

Schwaller de Lubicz - A Study of Numbers

http://www.amazon.com/Study-Numbers-Constant-Creation-Universe/dp/0892811129/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_2

That's a decent theory - explains how numbers are the basis of reality (and not just in a quantitative form, but also in more abstract forms).

I'm not providing proof, I'm just sharing an idea.

But my point is, you can't prove that memory isn't mathematical.

I must disagree here-you see Computer info is combination of 1 and 0 yes or no,while the memories stored in your head are not 1's and 0's.Different information, different way of storing different way of reading

prove that your memories are not stored in a binary fashion.
