How good is your dream recall? With simple affirmations and paying attention to your dreams, your NP awareness will increase to the degree that you may discover your point of departure is easiest at least initially, within your dreams. Think about, consider and utilize different methods.

Your best dream awareness is a good indicator of the presence and control you will need to develop.

Just as an alternative idea...have you considered programming your dreams? Meditation and trance work are fine and beneficial, but can be pretty difficult methods for your initial obe.

Our initial obes usually happen almost by accident, when we happen to find ourselves in that tiny little window of awareness that allows us to transition into some form of NP awareness.

Early morning, naps or middle of the night wake-ups become our best opportunities to find that little awareness window and make proper use of it.

How present are you within your dreams? Affirmations can work surprising wonders in this area.

This is a very interesting thread for me: my experience has included two very separate areas of non-physical experience: OBE experience and UFO-type real-time experience. The two seem interconnected at one level yet disconnected at another...

The addition of Nordic types of entities makes it that much more difficult to resolve...I have not had to deal with them, yet they seem to be there nonetheless...

I will have to think on this as the post deserves a response...my experience has been pretty open to alternate views...Casey's post opens to several of these...I am reluctantly open to the alien involvement issue...Maybe there is a higher involvement...

No one wants to admit the characterization... But the idea that 'we are someone else's property' is a definite possibility...this may be just a further aspect or understanding of the human condition...

That first, REALLY strong lucid dream is SO cool, isn't it? Well done! This isn't the only one...you get further opportunities at more of these awesome moments!

The idea that once you "go lucid, you'll never go back" isn't quite accurate; it is possible, but for most of us, we have a mixture of regular dreams and dreams that provide us opportunities...to explore in different ways...

It sounds like you have developed two excellent Dream Triggers/Clarifications: Asking for clarity and looking for your hands to stabilize the environment.

This experience sounds like a great challenge to your understanding of various aspects of your Non-Physical Awareness.

it feels like i belong in that dream.  I remember once while being awake thinking of all the cool things I would do while lucid like flying, going through walls, how fascinating it will be; once I was lucid and became aware and remebered what i wanted to do it wasn't that appealing as if I had done it all the time. 

This is a key insight mcdwg...

You are in the process of noticing some differences between your Physical personality and your NonPhysical personality.

Be on the lookout for and reflect on these differences as your experiences continue and progress.

This is better than two cents worth...good insight!  :-D

Waking up at 3 or 4am for "no apparent reason" can often be a sign that your inner self is presenting you with an opportunity to project. The trick is figuring out from there how to do it! Do you try right then and there? Do you read a book for 20 minutes, or do laundry for 40 minutes? The answer is unique to you; my only advice is accept the fact that it is an imperfect process and try different routines; finding a kind of balance is the trick.

Set your intention and then let go; if you fall asleep, fine, just let go anyway. The process will work when you are ready. Trust in this.

LightBeam is giving you some excellent advice; I wll add a few other ideas to consider.

1 -We all start off thinking about this from a strictly PHYSICAL perspective; that thinking has to be re-considered every step of the way, especially early on; sometimes discarded completely. Spend some time thinking about this concept. As you progress you will also need to return to the relationship of Physical versus Non-Physical thinking.

2 -Forget the idea that Sleep Paralysis must be achieved. It's a convenient position to find yourself in but has its own problems to deal with. If a person naturally finds themself prone to SP, then great, we can work from there, but don't beat your head trying to induce the condition!

3 -LightBeam is making the salient point that trying to achieve an obe is quite difficult/nearly impossible for most from an evening, pre-bedtime routine. Your physical body is simply too tired not to drag down your consciousness with it into sleep. Therefore, middle of the night, early morning, afternoon naps...these are naturally better times to try. Your first successes will be almost accidental as you try different times and find what works better for you.

4 -Understand that most of us probably don't just make a simple decision to go explore the universe without our Physical body. There are internal processes that need to take place; I define it as an internal permission-giving process. It's a process of asking our subconscious and our Higher Self permission and cooperation to do this. You should reinforce this process with an affirmation stating your intention and asking for their assistance. Certainly couldn't hurt lol! You need to realize that these processes are at work within you. This is part of learning a higher level of communication.

5 -Maybe dreams work better for you? Is your recall good? You can program yourself to come aware within a dream. This is a great secondary method that often gives me a second experience after a good obe.

I'm not sure that I fully understand "dreaming with my favorite stuff" but it sounds like you have successfully used this to create a possible Dream Trigger. Well done! With reinforcement, this DT should serve to bring you greater awareness with a few more experiences. The test then will be to control your excitement once you become fully aware within a dream. This is a fun moment! The feeling of realization and the power at your fingertips is incredible! Enjoy!

The gunshot noises were likely hypnagogia designed to distract you which they did. This was a challenge to your ability to focus and re-enter the experience. Sneaky stuff, huh? :-D
You were in that in-between state where certain aspects of the Non-Physical can blend with the Physical and serve as a distraction. Now you know better. :wink:

Like you mentioned, your dreams can serve several purposes and this depends on how much importance you give them in your life. For most people, dreams simply serve as a kind of daily housekeeping and working out minor/major issues and the emotional energies involved within a symbolic context. As you pay more attention to your dreams, as you have done, your dream material will gradually shift towards opportunities for gaining dream lucidity, followed by challenges to your understanding of emotional control within the dream; you only get so far by responding with anger and aggression, as you have found out. This is just one of the first of many lessons to learn.

As you continue to actively pursue greater awareness and control within your dreams, you eventually come to realize that these experiences are indeed lessons that once learned, expand your consciousness both here in the Physical world and in the Non-Physical world.

We have experiences which teach us in the Physical;we have experiences which teach us in the Non-Physical.

From my current perspective, any experience which teaches me something is REAL.

I will second the benefits, both spiritual and physical that soarin12 is describing. If you are a reasonably mature and balanced individual then AP should benefit you in many ways.

From your post, it sounds like you are taking a steady and reasoned approach to AP. The energetic sensations, vibes and third-eye activation are fairly normal and a good sign of your progress. I thought this reply to another poster might give you a little more perspective on some possible reasons for some of the SP phenomena you may encounter.

Being knowledgeable of and prepared for the first few times you venture oob will go a long way to minimizing any fear issues you are already becoming aware of. Just be confident that you are safe and protected. Say a prayer or an affirmation declaring your protected status; that should help. Part of the trepidation you are currently experiencing may also have to do with an internal permission-giving that you are processing; I hope that makes sense.

No, but it can help with understanding your non-physical perspective and awareness. And actually, a LD is a form of projection. Take any opportunity that presents itself.

Possibly you are thinking that you need to exit your physical body. The better way to think about it is that you are shifting your mental focus from the Physical to the Non-Physical.

Read some of the blue stickies and that should broaden your understanding.

It could be hypnagogia because of the timing and consistency; but you sound too awake in the later episodes.

I kind of lean towards the rodents in the walls or a raccoon or something similar outside maybe investigating the BBQ. Very punctual and persistent little buggers.

Yeah, I've had it for nearly seven years. Some in the left ear, more in the right; like a field of crickets and tree frogs on a summer night, plus a high frequency tone to top it off. Thought it would drive me insane the first year. Like soarin suggested, I managed to use it for a focal point once and found an exit...

I agree with what Casey is telling you and I'll add these thoughts:

I have encountered this issue many times over the decades and although I may not fully understand the energetic how and why, I can confirm that Casey's advice is correct.

Even though I thought I had long ago dispelled any lingering fears, this type of negative entity would show up from time to time, in different forms, to challenge me. I think that, in the vast majority of cases, this 'entity' is what is defined by some as a thought-form that is unconsciously generated by the projector. Given enough emotional energy, this thought-form becomes an independent, semi-conscious entity, with a minimum of programming to operate within a very limited area. This limited area could naturally include where your kids are sleeping and it's programming is based on her/your desire for an exit.

Many, if not most of us, generate these thought-forms upon initially gaining etheric/astral awareness while still in our physical body such as while in Sleep Paralysis; thus the ubiquitousness of the Old Hag phenomenon around the world and in so many cultures.

It could be generated by your wife or even you...given experience and understanding, the effect can be minimized.

A second possibility is that this is a 'helper' or even a potential guide, trying to help your wife exit but your wife's subconscious is overlaying a fear-based template on the helper, thus giving it the image she gets...but then that doesn't really explain what's happening with the kids; I doubt a helper would be trying to pull them out.

So, in order to find out what you are really dealing with, like Casey suggested, your wife should allow herself to be pulled out or whatever is necessary to confront the entity. This requires a great deal of courage and fear control. Then she needs to simply ask why the entity is there and why it is doing what it is doing.

If the answer is coherent and involving some degree of complex reasoning then it may be a conscious entity and she can respond accordingly, commanding it to go away, if need be.

If there is no answer or if it is gibberish or cryptic, then it is likely a thought-form, actually an aspect of one of you. If so, then the best response is to take a BIG leap of faith and open your arms and with as much love and acceptance as possible, embrace the thought-form and invite it to merge back into your being; in simpler terms, give it a big hug.

That's always fun the first time!  :-D

Well, there's the law of supply and demand at work; although I don't think they will sell many at that price for the time being.

I checked Amazon, Barnes&Noble and Booksamillion; not available. You should try contacting Kurt Leland directly and see if he knows of any copies still available.

In one way I'm surprised, in another I'm not. I imagine that Unanswered Question, Otherwhere, and MDH were all pretty limited printings in number, but they are just so good that underground demand is currently driving the price on these books; I guess that's as good an indicator of quality and value as one could ask for...

Kurt has mentioned forthcoming reprints of his works, but that is off in some uncertain future. I would love to see these books available again. I was lucky enough to jump on MDH early and could manage the higher prices demanded for used copies of Otherwhere and Unanswered Question. For me, they were well worth the price (neither was over $100USD) but value of this kind is a very relative thing.

Your slight difficulties regarding the Gateway Experience, I agree with this completely as it was my own experience. You describe the issues very well and I look forward to your descriptions of your continuing experiences as they parallel my own.

Consider the Gateway system as a set of mental exercises, to energetically strengthen and condition your Non-Physical body or awareness. It's like astral Pilates or non-physical strength training...

I could also suggest regular meditation and WBTB (Wake, Back To Bed) or Lucid Dream or Rundown methods for inducing an OBE. All these methods are techniques to work your awareness up to a point where a breakthrough naturally occurs...and no one can tell you where or when that will be. Research as much of these topics onsite as you can and the insights will eventually occur to you within an experience. That's how it works, lol, for a long time...

A book that will help you, eventually, if not now, is Kurt Leland's The Multidimensional Human.

I have had brief moments of 2 and 3 perspective multiple realities. You seem to have stabilized the process to begin to study its particulars, nice!

The Void I have not yet studied to this degree. I wonder if the mental speed is not related to some of my last experiences where the speed of thought and understanding/perception is accelerated to ever-increasing speeds?

You have a great ability to describe all this. Thank you for sharing!

I will second what Kzaal is telling you about the energy you are working with. People and animals within close physical proximity will unconsciously react to the energetic activity of a projector. I'm not sure what can be done other than to increase the distance.

The dream you had where your legs and torso were floating in the air; this was a projection, at least a partial separation. What you are describing is the fairly common path that early projectors take: energetic activity with exit sensations but with no exit, followed often by one or more unexpected partial separations, followed eventually by a complete separation.

The other thing you are experiencing is An effect of Sleep Paralysis and/or partial separation and what I consider a type of energetic feedback. When you have shifted your focus into your energetic 'body' (you did this, suspected it for a moment, but did not fully realize it), early projectors often encounter this feedback problem which is a function of being too close to your physical body. It's like the feedback howl you get when a microphone is too close to its amplifier/speaker. In the case of a projector, this feedback causes a number of issues: false feelings of fear, dread and pure Evil, visual distortions and hallucinations, demonic and distracting noises, etc...
The slightest fear will become magnified and reflected back at you and will escalate and spiral out of control; most of us have experienced it and we know how terrifying it can feel. Some consider this a kind of test, a Fear Test, to see if you have the resolve to go forward; in the Theosophical tradition it was known as the Dweller on the Threshold. Personally, I think all the noises, creepy feelings, voices, visuals...all this material is dredged up from within your personal subconscious; maybe there's some archetypal symbology as well. Even when you get your fear under control, this mechanism will, from time to time, take a crack at you with distractions like your mother calling your name, disruptive noises like gunshots or screams or a table-saw outside your window. For me, it's gotten comical at times. In your case you were already concerned about your wife and childs' well-being and maybe there is some pre-disposition to wondering about stirring up trouble with demonic forces. So this underlying fear was manifested within your energetic awareness and you were confronted with it.

This feedback effect teaches you a big lesson and that is how important it is to get control of your emotions, starting with fear, and oftentimes sexual impulse, excitation, fascination...etc.

The key to getting this under control is to instantly recognize that you are in this state of awareness and to resist any initial thoughts of fear. It's like waking up in a junkyard and realizing a Doberman is standing over you growling...it's not easy to deal with the first few times. Solving it involves making a few realizations about you and your situation. That's the test, if it is one.

The other thing to do early on once you make a full separation is to move away from your physical body about 15 to 20 feet, which quickly minimizes the feedback effect.

That's like one of the perfect times to try!

Your body can fall asleep, while your mind stays awake. Or, you come aware within a Lucid Dream.

It doesn't always work, but when it does, it feels almost too easy!

The mirror can lead anywhere...it is just waiting for your Intent. It's just a mechanism, a contrivance that you have subconsciously introduced into your field of awareness, providing you a psychological means of transference to another area of Non-Physical Reality. Just dive into it with the Intention to go somewhere or visit someone. You may get where you want to go or you may get diverted, but there's no harm in trying.

Actually looking into a mirror can be problematic...lol. The first time I tried, I saw a fuzzy, translucent image of me. The second time was rather shocking...I saw my body as if the skin was removed and thus, the remaining visceral musculature, not quite right but very disturbing...as some describe it...the meat sack...lol

I agree with the advice Kzaal gave you.

You did not describe 'when' you were trying to go OOB...the best time would probably be early morning, when you have already had several hours of rest.

Forget about the vibrational state...some get it, some don't...

Any energetic signal, go with the flow...

Whether it's early or middle or late in the sleep cycle, the key is your mental state and being emotionally balanced, not prone to fear, yet expectant of the next thing to happen.

Have no fear and go with the flow...have an expectation to enjoy the unfolding experience...

A new multiverse awaits...you are totally safe...go enjoy... :-D

Dream Triggers (DTs) ha ha...

It's amazing how we subconsciously avoid and ignore them!

I'm glad to hear your experiences are coming thick and fast; I look forward to hearing about them.

My last DT was so obvious and yet I "pushed it away" like 4 or 5 times in a row...and it was so current and mainstream!

Whatever semi-lucid dream scene I was viewing...I kept getting an Internet pop-up window that I kept x-ing out...and about the last time I deleted it, I recognized the message in the window:

"Do you realize you are dreaming?"

I woke up from that and thought, How stupid can I be?! :-D
