Hi Seeking of Matter

Welcome to the forum! That was a very perceptive post. I think you`ll find that many of us here are in the same boat as you are. We`re all looking for answers to the same questions you pose, and sharing our thoughts on a board like this can be helpful for everyone. It`s not always easy finding answers, and overcoming self-doubt and fear can be a long and difficult process. It certainly was in my case!

I`m sure you`ll fit right in here and I`m looking forward to more of your posts.

By the way your English is great!

Hi Naiad

I`ve got a couple of bad knees from old sports injuries and I get swelling from time to time. Ice and Ibuprophen seem to help me the most.I`ve never noticed any adverse energy effects. Here`s something to try.Next time you do energy work try raising your leg by putting some pillows under it. Gravity`s a wonderful thing!

Good Luck

I use the term surrender but don`t think of it in the "white flag" context.I try to reach a state of passive receptivity-open to whatever is going to occur. Perhaps acceptance would be a better term.

Hi izalco

Almost all of my projections occur during naps in the afternoon.I find a nap is more conducive to a light sleep state that is necessary for me to have much success.I get my best results when I can drift in and out of consciousness, placing an intent while I`m aware and then letting myself slip away again.

Hi Krevency

I don`t want to make light of your experience but I got a chuckle from your post too.I`ve never noticed any symptoms like you describe. Maybe you`ve stumbled on an explanation for the famous"Astral Wind" phenomenon!

I hate to shoot down a good conspiracy theory but the "horns of Satan hand thing" is a sign used by University of Texas fans to show support for their football team-the "Longhorns"

What a great idea. You could run the cars exhaust directly through the ventilation system and be killing two birds with one stone! Do wonders for road rage too.

Hi JoWo

I`m sorry to hear you won`t be able to participate any longer. I enjoyed reading your book and in fact had just got it down from the shelf for a re-read! I think quantum metephysics is an important part of the forum.

Hi Thanatos5

I agree with Major Tom.My experiences run the gamut from being extremely real-like waking consciousness-to dreamlike. One aspect that pervades all my projections is a sense of " Otherness". I`m always very aware of being in a different reality.

Hi Major Tom

Good for you! At least you made it to an island.I got out again at 3:15 this afternoon but I saw nothing resembling API. A little ways into the projection I was felt a force pulling me backwards and went with it to see where I would end up.I arrived in another large city, not exactly the palm trees and blue water I`ve been hoping for.

This little exercise has been a big help to me.I`ve been in a slump for a while and concentrating on getting to API gave me two quality projections in three days. Having a definite goal in mind is a good way to stay focused on the task at hand.I`m going to keep on trying. For some reason trying to get to this silly island gets my astral juices flowing!

Hi All

Here`s a report on my attempt to reach API this afternoon. Didn`t get there but had an interesting trip nonetheless. This is how I wrote it up in my log.

3/4/05  3:30 PM    Back       F21(previous nights gateway CD)

Dreaming--man wanted to show me interconnected manifolds in field-became lucid and aware of dream state-recalled task and took conscious control with intent to project-dream dissolved-exited body normal forward and up to unknown outdoor location-good vision- good movement-performed slow forward sommersault to solidify projection-placed intent to travel to API-moved forward at moderate speed-traveled through grey insubstantial medium for short period-arrived in city-huge 3 or 4 story buildings beside a river-enormous green and beige tile construction-impression; futuristic or alien-still had good awareness and control-raised energy and opened primairy centers-placed intent to meet members of forum at API-started traveling upwards-much faster this time-passed through semisolid feeling gauzy blue layers-occasional glimpes of stars-came out into large wood panelled room with low couches-floated down from ceiling-4 or 5 people there- didn`t recognize-looking closer their faces had running sores and limbs were malformed-bad vibes!-quickly ducked through wall-into long hallway-down staircase- losing control, awareness and clarity-many more rooms-dreamlike and confused-back to body.

No luck getting to API but I`ll try again.Hopefully it won`t take to long to recharge my batteries! I think having a plan to perform a specific task or travel to a location helps the whole projection process.

Hi Major Tom

I`ve never tried to get to the island but I`ll give it a shot. Look for me between 2 and 4 PM Eastern Standard Time for the next four days.

Hi TT

A good place to meet people who might be interested in OBE and related topics is a bookstore.Preferably one specializing in "NewAge"titles. I used to to frequent one out in LA that had an eclectic and sometimes alarming clientel. They make people on this forum seem paragons of sanity. It was always fun going in that place, and asking questions about leaving your body was treated as perfectly normal.

Hi Swimming Bear

The same thing has happened to me a couple of times. The first time I tried to force myself out in my normal forward roll and couldn`t do anything.I was stuck and woke up. The next time I relaxed and allowed my feet to continue over my head and ended up doing a backflip and achieving the exit. It was a cool feeling and I was really pleased!I think when you have difficulties, especially at a tricky time like the exit, it`s always better to go with the flow.

Hi Time Traveler

It sounds to me like you`re heading in the right direction and are getting closer to an OBE.The sensations of active energy, floating and even the elusive vibrations are all indications that you`re getting yourself in the right state to project. I`m glad you`re not losing patience. It took me 4 months of daily practice so hang in there.

Here`s a few things to try. Do your practice at different times of the day: I discovered it`s much easier for me in the afternoon. Try a few different exit techs. I`ve never had any luck with rope-I think it makes me focus too much on the physical. Finally, the thing that got me out the first time was to stop trying. One day I lay down to take a nap and the whole thing happened all by itself. Sometimes you need to get out of your own way!

Hi Ivanda

Congratulations on your successful OBE! It`s funny how alot of people seem to have their first projection when they stop trying so hard. It was certainly true in my case. It`s easy to get too wrapped up in the various techniques and striving to MAKE something happen. Having a strong subconcious intent to project and then relaxing into the borderline sleep state lets the process kick into gear. Try recreating the conditions of your first experience and see how it goes.

The heavy weight and crushing feelings sound a bit like sleep paralysis and is nothing to worry about. You`ll find yourself experiencing many new and strange sensations but they`ll become familiar with some practice.I`m sure you`ll have continued success!

Hi JK

Welcome to the forum! Personally, I find it easier to project after exercise. I  make  my projection attempts in the afternoon, and my success rate is higher if I`ve been physically active during the day.I like that healthy glow you get after a workout and a tuned  body contributes to a peaceful state of mind.Turning your attention towards the non-physical will make those aches and pains dissapear.

Hi Michael

I agree that the technique of concentrating on a previous OBE is helpful and I frequently use it to help kick start the process.I`m still not having much success in navigating to previous locations but I`m working on it!

One thing I`d like to add, is that people who have`nt yet had an OBE can use this technique as well simply by recalling a dream. It serves the same purpose:focusing your attention towards the non-physical and helping you to relax into the borderline sleep state that is so crucial to projection.

Hi All

Usually I see a distorted version of myself. I `d have to check my log but i think I recall two instances where I saw no reflection. I do remember that it was a spooky feeling. It`s similar to looking for your physical body after an exit and not seeing it. I think I suscribe to Satchel Paige`s philosophy which is "Don`t look back. Something might be gaining on ya!"

Hi Eternal Soulmate

I`ve been doing the things you describe in your post for the past several years and have had good success.I start on my side, drift close to being asleep, and then roll onto my back.It usually takes me about 30 to 40 minutes before I change position but it`s become almost automatic. All my attempts are in the afternoon so I agree with the nap aspect.I think the idea of a daily siesta is one of humanities best ideas! Aside from the physical details I completely agree with your take on letting go with no expectations. INMHO those are the two key elements to any successful projection.
I think you`ve hit on a good technique that has worked well for me.

Hi markulous,

Good for you! My advice would be to do exactly what you did before and try to recreate the conditions of your first success. When you hit on a technique that works, stick with it. I`m a big believer in the keep it simple approach.  Getting a few more exits under your belt should be your main focus. Have fun with it!

Hi Stillwater

It`s hard to put into words. It feels like my consciouness collapses and then expands in a different direction. However it`s not like any movement in the normal three spatial directions. In fact it feels like my mind is doing a backflip while turning inside out. I find it a pleasant sensation. It happens quickly so I can`t really break it down further. The reason I brought it up is that it is different from most of the other non-physical things that I experience,  that fit into a three dimensional model. Like I said I don`t really have any idea if this is a fourth dimension or not, or if frequencies have any thing to do with it. I`m more of an experimenter than a theorist. I`ll leave it to the folks with the degrees in advanced mathematics and the cyclotrons to figure out. Speaking of which I need to find a good (and cheap) quantum mechanic for my truck!
